- This time I've taken out the Sony ZV-E10 & the SEL50F18 to scout out a location nearby my hometown. Really love the compression you get out of this little lens. Definitely a great budget option + it plays well together with the Sony ZV-E10. What else do we want? :)

@@davidvongries leading secret lives 🤣 . Camera prices are nuts man. Used ones cost more than they did new when they came out! I think I'm set on Sony A6400. Need something I can use for RUclips and streaming, but I really enjoy photography more. Seems like that does both well. The zv just doesn't seem as good for photography

Hello David. I'm wondering about the video performance of 50mm 1.8 on ZV-E10. Especially autofocus speed and accuracy. I use A7 with a couple of G master zoom lenses and a few standard primes, including SEL50F18. I think A7 and G Masters are overkill and heavy for vlogging and small handheld shootings. I want to buy a ZV-E10 and use it with SEL50F18. However, I have severe doubts about autofocus speed and accuracy regarding Product Showcase Mode. Can you please share your experience and advice?
I don't use the product showcase mode but have shot a video recently with the ZV-E10 & the SEL50F18 (An Instagram reel to be precise). The autofocus speed was good - at least I didn't notice anything negative. Here's the link to the video - instagram.com/p/CcaUJO2qc9g/.

I see you miss a lot of intended pictures because you have to fiddle around with buttons. Is it because it has too little custom buttons?
quite honestly, I wasn't sure why I shot all manual that day. I usually shoot in aperture priority which I'm way more comfortable with.
but yes, the lack of customizable buttons is also a thing on the ZV-E10.
I think this will be the video that will make me to buy this camera I couse I need it primary for photograpy and it is in my budget I think better option than 10years old a7ii with slow AF and bad battery Life!

Good morning from Córdoba, Argentina; I loved your video and you have one more subscriber. I just changed my 50 1.8 OSS for a 16-55G, I recommend that "pairing" with the ZV E10, I don't go anywhere without both of them, and the lens is welded to the camera. Greetings.

Hey man quick question, if I have the zv-e10 and want the Sony 50mm 1.8 should I go for a 35mm instead to get the same use out of it? Since the camera is APSC and the 50mm is full frame. I’m afraid to get the 50mm and feel like it’s too “zoomed in”

Hey man i was wondering if u can help me decide which camera to buy? Zv e10 or the A6400 Idk what to buy ive watched to many videos and they are both saying they are great cameras. I know that the A6400 is more expensive however it came out in 2019 so its pretty old. Yet the Zv jus came out a few months ago and its cheaper so...... and this is going to be my first camera/PLZ HELP. Also great video man loved thos shots.
I'd personally go for the ZV-E10 because it's the newer model and has Sonys new color science for instance. it doesn't have the viewfinder though, if that's important to you.

Hey this is a great video, Thanks for creating it. Just curios to know how is the quality of picture differ from kit lens to 50mm? Let's assume kits lens f5.6 with the focal length 50mm vs Sony 50mm lens with f5.6? Does the quality gets differed?
Generally speaking, i’ve never been a fan of the kit lens. it gets the job done but the prime lenses do a better job in my opinion. I do prefer my Sigma lenses over those older Sony apsc lenses though.

Indoor sports video & photography should work just fine for you. Just try to avoid extreme low-light situation.

I'm not a camera / lens expert so someone else can add more info, but the 50mm 1.8 on the crop frame will be equal to a 75mm lens.

So bro by watching so much of videos on RUclips i think in DSLR you have to play with the ISO right bro to get the perfect image.
when photographing during the day, you keep the ISO as low as possible. Nothing to play with really.

What are your setting on your Sony ZV mine always come out blurry but I am also a beginner so I am learning as I go. So any tips would be great!😊
blurry? that's strange! try shooting in daylight & have the camera set to program mode so that it'll set all values for you automatically. take it from there and once you're more familiar with the setting, try shooting in aperture priority. that's the mode I personally prefer and shoot in most of the time.
are you focusing (half-pressing the shutter button) before taking the shot?

What settings did you use to shoot? Bought this camera a few days ago and I’m trying to figure out what settings are the best to use
experiment with different settings. but it depends upon the condition you are shooting at. for example in harsh sunlight, increase your shutter speed and decrease your iso to minimum. whereas in low light, increase your aperture and iso but not more than 3200. and decrease shutter speed to 1/200.

@@princeroy1837 it is such a great camera especially for beginners like me. I took some pretty great photos with it, I am really impressed, you just have to play around with the settings and see what’s best for you and the type of pictures you wanna take. I highly recommend this camera :)

According to your experience with this lens, would it help me to record a wedding? I want to shoot video with this lens so I don't get too close to the bride and groom, but I'm worried the continuous autofocus isn't good enough
I actually shot a short commercial with this lens and the ZV-E10. no issues with autofokus whatsoever.
Do you use continuos focus with the wide focus ? Or Continuos focus with spot focus ?
continuous with the extended spot usually.

Which lens will do the more background blur

Sony 210mm f6.5
these are 2 extremely different focal lengths. really comes more down to what field of view you prefer. both will give you a creamy background.
How you do this background defocus? it depends of lenses? I wonder that I can do something similar witch Sony ZV - 1 (it lens build one):(
keep the aperture as low as possible :) it also has to do with the distance to the subject.
Are these original pictures? Did you do any changes?
all the photos (raws) in this video were edited in Lightroom.

is catalyst browse is free software ? and how to use it?
yes, it's free to use. there's also catalyst prepare (paid), which let's you batch stabilize/export. catalyst browse can be a bit of a hassle if you have lots of clips to stabilize.
Bro can you please reply me--- Iam using the same cam with same Lense sony 50mm 1.8 OSS. Photo graphy is Fine with Full screen, but when we take videos its getting cropped. I want videos in full screen , please let me know if there is any other settings to get videos without crop
What do you mean by cropped?
@@davidvongries Means when I shoot videos, the recorded video is cropped.

it's decent. it gets the job done, it just wasn't for me tbh. I sold mine and replaced it with a couple of primes. haven't looked back.

Hey David, I was wondering if you help me out, I was choosing between the zv e 10 and the a6400 but I really cant seem to choose, although the evf is something i would like to have, Im not sure if i should be paying the extra cost for it, for context in my country the zve10 body is 799 and the a6400 used is about 1100, and plus the a6400 doesnt have catalyst, Im planning on doing cinematic footage and photography, what do you think I should get?
get the ZV-E10 if you can live without the evf. it also has Sonys updated color science. the rolling shutter is pretty bad though. I'd not use it much without a gimbal either for cinematic footage, regardless of catalyst browse. I have a few other videos on the channel talking about the rolling shutter - I'm not sure if it's the same on the 6400.

the 50mm f1.8 is decent. i like it better than the kit lens, though keep in mind it’s a 75mm full frame equivalent- so it’s zoomed in quite a bit.
