Hey gang, thank you for almost 200 subscribers! :)
This time, we're taking out the ZV-E10 to actually take some photos with it. Yep, finally! Lightroom has added support for the Sony ZV-E10 and we can finally develop our RAW files.
While I didn't get the best shots during the street photography POV with the ZV-E10, there are some nice photos at the end of the video from an earlier shooting.
While the ZV-E10 doesn't have a viewfinder, I still find it awesome to shoot with. The flip-out screen is great and it's been a really nice upgrade for me coming from the old Sony a5100.

I like how I can count on most of my photos being in focus with the ZVE10. Your curtains are such a great color, by the way.
Coming from a canon m50 mark ii, the Sony has a much more reliable auto focus on burst mode when the drive mode is set higher than low (I shoot sports). Nails it pretty much every time!
I think most of the comments in here forgot that this is a video camera. The photos came out absolutely beautiful. This camera isn’t absolute monster in my opinion, it’s video first then photo second. Great video!

NAH! I mean...Is the lack of an EVF suddenly making the same sensor of an a6600 useless for photography? This camera is just like a a6100 + the S-log profiles.

Interesting video. I thought of ZVE10 mostly as a vlog camera but also seems like a descent photography camera. How was the auto focus performance?
it definitely is. it basically got the same sensor as the other a6000 series cameras so it's up there with the a6400, etc.
you'll definitely feel that it's a hybrid camera though but if you configure the few custom buttons properly, it's just as good (if not better bc it got Sonys new color science).
the auto focus performance is good. never had any issues with it. except when I was shooting though the fence on top of the autobahn in the video but that was to be expected. 😊

Really pleased you made this video though, I'm really struggling between getting the Sony-Z E10 and the Canon A6400...ordered the ZE10 today and then cancelled my order so got to wait until next week to re-order. In my town we say "parrot is green everywhere" is used to say people with a good habillity takes advantage of every equipment no matter its quality, so this is the case!

really happy thhat your showcasing that the zve10 can be good for photos aswell i have brought one and am a hybrid shooter but i hear many stories of how its no good for photos, but it is obviously very capable if you know how to use it, great video 👍
I traded my a6400 for the ZV-e10 as I as doing way more video that photo. Let's be honest, the 6XXX gama is pretty much all the same, including the ZV-e10. The e 10 is pretty much a simplified version for video. What I miss the most is that a6400 had way more buttons for "manual" photography, which sometimes is annoying when I'm taking photos but it's not really a deal-breaker.
And which cam do you suggest below $700 (for body) if I'm not interested in creating video but very interested in street photo/street portraits and don't want to spend hours retouching my photos?
6400 is expensive for me.
@@BalynOmavel Are you limited to Sony? If not you may as well get some old Fuji. I got the X-E1 for that purpose (street photo) for around 200€; if were budget is 700$ you can get a better version.

do you think that this camera is better than the canon m50 mark ii? technically its good but i want to learn from my first camera and as i can see there arent many options on this camera, it does it all by itself, am i wrong? please tell me your opinion.
What's the difference between the lens sold in bundle with camera (16-50mm) and the one you are using for this video? I love these pictures! And eve those in the other video with the same lens!
The lens that I used is a 35mm prime lens. Prime lenses don‘t zoom, therefore they‘re usually faster and allow you to shoot at a lower aperture. That also means, more depth-of-field. Prime lenses are also usually sharper. Both, zoom & prime lenses have their strengths & weaknesses. I personally enjoy primes more for photography.

Hey I am consider buying this camera. Primarily for video but I do some amount of photography. I am wondering, how bad is it to not have the viewfinder? Let me know what your experience so far have been.

I just ordered one from Amazon and my sole purpose is for photos for our Cruises, I don't like carrying my BIG DSLRs, so just for photos I'm good right ?

There should be options available without the 16-50 lens though the camera has been discontinued so if you can get it, even with the 1650, I would grab it. You can always sell the lens later. I personally don't like the 16-50mm that much and have sold it. Sigma's are always a good choice. I'd personally go with a 23-ish mm lens as - with the crop factor of 1.5 - comes down to 35mm which is what I prefer for most of my photography. Having a 35 is definitely a good alrounder for video & photography.
All of my Latest videos are filmed by Sony ZV-E10. Really a cool camera for beginner film makers.
In photography which is better zve10 or a6400?
I really dislike how soft Sony photos look.. as compared to Fuji photos, is this a lens issue or I am just buggin’?
I am an enthusiast/ hobbyist and I am trying to choose between the x-s10 or Sony Zv-e10 + a prime
It likely is the lens. I noticed how Sonys color science is more clinical compared to Fuji, which typically has more of an opinionated look (through the various film simulations) and character. Fuji has some great sharp lenses but so has Sony.

My opinion after using this camera, i am just after iphone photography. So i dont need viewfinder it works perfect with screen. And i shoot mainly with manual mode so i dont change the mode like aperture mode and shutter speed mode. And i only switched between s&q and video and photos so for that there is the button. Currently m using e10 with samyang af12mm 2.0 and sony 50mm 1.8 oss. Both are the good lanses and works well. The good thing is its very compact camera. I didn’t purchase the kit lens 16-50 i dont know weather it is good or not, if anyone using kit with other prime lens please let me know if 16-50 good or not compare to prime lens.
16-50 with camera cost only $100... And for everyday use is very decent . Separate purchase for this lens is $ 298 (as today).

love the combo! using it for all my vlogs. I've taken a few photos with the Sigma as well but I prefer 20mm or 35mm for photography but that's just personal preference. really depends on what you want to shoot.

You cant really tell if the photos are good because RUclips compression is always bad somehow. Better Post some links to original photo files. But thanks for the nice Video 😃

I don't think that's possible tbh. the steady mode is what requires the crop. the videos of me talking & walking were filmed on the gopro and the little b-roll was handheld.

What's the difference between zv-e10 and a6400 in order to taking photos?
I never owned an a6400 u fortunately but thought getting one before the ZV-E10 came out.
the a6400 is a bit more geared towards photography I would say. though the ZV-E10 on the other hand has Sonys latest color science. there are some more differences but generally speaking the ZV-E10 is your best bet in most cases :)

Here are some more differences. The a6400 has a viewfinder and a built-in flash.
The ZV-E10 also misses a mode dial and instead has a button to switch between different modes which is kinda annoying.
My main reasons going for the ZV-E10 instead the a6400 were the cheaper price, Sony‘s new color science and also how easy it is to use it as a streaming camera. It‘s a great RUclips studio camera but is also very much usable for photography. It ticked off all the boxes for me.

I actually have a 55-210mm lens that I've used at a nearby zoo (but that was with the a5100).
Definitely considering making a video around that, though here's not much wildlife to shoot around this area 😒

Noo it's not - it has bad ergonomics, frustrating for switching stuff fast + LCD has polarized layer so I DO NOT SEE anything in my sunglasses in bright light
fair enough. I don't wear sunglasses but heard that being an issue for quite a few people. I totally agree on the lack of physical buttons. it definitely is a hybrid camera. it does both video and photography good but isn't perfect in either.
I bought this camera and love it. I shoot mostly in intelligent auto. I consider myself a photo enthusiast. I wanted to try my hand at video so i went with the sony zv-e10. I switched to sony from a Nikon d90 (great camera for its era). Great for beginners.

I typically shoot in either aperture priority or fully manual :)

But, if have to pick one, I will go for a6400 because i like sony over canon.

Great video, may i know shooting experience under direct daylight, cause there isnt viewfinder, how does the screen look like. Also i just wonder if we can switch between modes even there is no mode wheel ? Or its fixed all the time by one mode. Thank you in advance.
direct sunlight can be a bit tricky with the screen. there's a button to switch between modes but I end up hitting it too often every now and then so I need to toggle through the modes again. you can switch between video, s&q and photo. I'd definitely prefer a dedicated dial here to be honest.
I will say its dark whatever camera screen you have. Just look what happens when you use phone in bright daylight. Its similar situation with screens and bright sun... i bought a7siii and viewfinder still comes very handy even when its kinda completely for video especially whem framing shot. Its hard to understqnd how people frane shot without viewfinder in situation like that

It happens sometimes. Some are rather aggressive but just being nice and explaining to people what i’m doing usually de-escalades the situation.

it depends. I don't mind not having one. on my fuji cameras I have a viewfinder but I don't use it as often. it's really personal preference more or less.

yea but I can‘t comment on wether that‘s an issue or not. It‘s never been a noticable thing to me.

I'm looking at getting this camera as my first decent camera
I am interested in both photography and video. I have seen the Canon T8i and this Sony ZV-E10 as options. A dealbreaker for me is that investing in lenses looks cheaper in Canon, thus, more accesible to me, but the Sony camera also looks good. Any thought?

I shot in RAW and edited all of the photos in Lightroom.

yes, there are manual adapters. make sure you get the adapter with aperture control on it

It does the job but i’m generally not a fan of the kit lens so I ended up selling it.

Does this work with RAW format or just JPG?
it shoots RAW too. all photos in this video were RAWs edited later in lightroom.
The lack of manual dials makes me feel uneasy about the camera. If you are used to manual mode this is not it.
I totally agree with you. Also the fact that you can‘t set a min. shutter-speed drives me nuts. It‘s a hybrid camera overall which does both, video & foto pretty well. While I still think it‘s great value for the money, it is not perfect in either of these areas. Personally, I‘ve switched to Fujifilm for my street-photography work and use the ZV-E10 almost exclusively for video nowadays.
Would it be better to get the Sony A7S2 (used)?
I have a Canon 5d3 that I use for photography but looking to switch to Sony to do video (for RUclips).
What does the ZVE10 do that the A7S2 can’t?
It seems I can get an A7S2 for same or less than ZVE10.
I dislike that you can’t set shutterspeed with ZVE10 (along with the other things mentioned in this particular comment).

Hi Dave, my ZV E10 auto focus in photo mode works quite slower than auto focus in video mode I've tested it in 3 diff lenses with setting AF-C and AF-A. Are you experiencing the same thing?

Oh yea absolutely. it's one of the best, affordable cameras for RUclips in my honest opinion.
I'm using the Sigma 16mm 1.4 for my videos and it's amazing. can highly recommend it.

@@davidvongries 5:21, i see it all the time on youtube. Conventional wisdom is to hold it as close to the body as possible, preferrably using the body, hands and maybe a strap to brace it using several anchors.

the wide angle of the gopro might exaggerate it a bit too.
🤦♂bro what are you projecting? He is trying to show the camera while shooting, plus he probably didn't need the extra stability stability of your proven method.
@@Drumaier i guess. i can't imagine a situation where you'd intentionally sacrifice stability though unless it's for panning shots, long "creative" shutter speeds etc
