I need to start using zoom when I review my pictures for focus, how many times have I forgotten I was in manual mode and not auto .... messed up one of my favourite moment of the trip (beautiful pink and orange clouds around Everest) and only noticed hours later.

      Small trick what can do Sony shooters. You can use your lens back cup as white balance custom adjustment do to that they are grey not black. And it depends on what cards you are using it affects some of camera settings. At the moment i use V90 SD cards. Later on i will buy Type A to use full settings.

    I enjoyed and appreciated the wisdom you shared on this video. I appreciated especially setting the Manual mode for slow subjects and then being able to switch to Aperture Priority again; allows for quick adaptation. I use a Sony RX10m4. I haven't used DMF or manual focus, but your video has convinced me to try it more. I've programmed one of my C-buttons to toggle between autofocus and manual focus to work on it. I want to learn how to use the AEL hold or toggle button. My difficulty is that I have programmed the AEL button to be my back-focus button. I find it easier to use back-focus rather than use a half shutter button. Any ideas which button to program as my new AEL button? Thanks for doing this video.

    great tuto ! I desactivated AEL because for unknown reasons my thumb often presses on it :-) As you describe, i set M mode in 1/15sec and switch to A mode most of the time but in M mode, you need to set aperture and iso. I looked recent video from Valou who makes beautiful street photos with a Ricoh GR IIIx and he is in shutter priority and doesn't worry about aperture chosen by camera except some special cases he switches to A mode. This is an interesting approach. Currently on a7rv i have three presets : U1 for a mode min ss 1/250sec auto iso af-c, U2 same but min SS 1/1000 rafale for sport and U3 manual 1/15sec F2.8 iso manual for low light and long expo.
    Do you advise auto iso in M mode which interacts with the goal you had in mind to set exposure yourself ?

    I’m Lizzie, and I recently upgraded from a Canon Rebel to the Sony A7 iv. I can’t even begin to count how many photos I have that are soft or even blurry. Took me way too long to discover that underexposing and too wide of an aperture can affect sharpness. Even a 6.3 or 7.1 may not focus the entire image. Some really great tips here, especially the AEL button. I had no idea what that was and have never heard it mentioned before, even in Sony A7 tutorials. Considering how many people recommend stacking images for exposure and nerve mention the AEL, I’m wondering if a lot of people aren’t aware of it.

    Good stuff. I don't know if you've done this before, but you may be helpful to do a quickie on the difference between dutifully reviewing your photos on-site versus always chimping. I'm sure you could bring a great balance between the two and it would help a lot of shooters of many levels

    • @robconner5221
      @robconner5221 5 месяцев назад

      You brought up, and wisely so, checking your photos on-site to make sure you're hitting focus and such. But often in a little busier, less forgiving situation, shooters get caught up on checking after each shot (what some call chimping) often causing a street shooter to miss photo ops and changing scenes. It seems like there are times when checking the quality of the photo seems to get in the way of getting the photo at all. There seem to be times to shoot first and check outcome later

    couple of items -- both relate to the protection of the body/lens. Use either a neck strap or a wrist strap. Always put a lens shade on the camera lens. Re: composition of the monkey + building with the tower. Just as one would do with a human subject, avoid by simply moving camera position a bit having the building (or something else such as a tree, street light, stop sign etc.) growing out of the subject which in this case was the monkey but people can become monkeys making the photographer appear to be a "monkey"
