- This is the original VS video I made, but just like my newer ones, I must stress that this is a competition of opinion for fun and out of love for the band. I love both of these singers and while I in some cases prefer one to the other in this series, I think it's important to listen to each other's side and enjoy the legacy that these artists have created. That being said I LOVE seeing the comments under these videos and talking about who's the favorite of each commenter and why. It's always such a joy to read them, even the more negative ones. This series is a celebration of music and I love making it. Sorry I've been gone for a couple years, but it's time to bring this back in full force.
Not sure exactly how long this video has been down for, but it's been a long time. In 2014, I was just a kid messing around with an idea I had seen done once and wanted to do better. Now I've released albums that anyone can stream on any given platform. I've become an adult (in age only), and gone through a lot of crap since this video was originally made, but I still love it and I wanted to improve it rather than just rerelease it. Of course, Sony Vegas default font and basic editing aren't that impressive, but I am proud of these videos and am glad they get the community of the band's fans talking (whichever band it may be depending on the video).

They really have very similar voices. It is very difficult, after the death of a vocalist with a unique voice, to find someone similar. RIP Bon, respect Brian.
You are deaf if you think Brian Johnson sounds similar to the Great Bon Scott. Bon was natural while Brians was forced. This is why his voice was blown to hell just after a few years being with ACDC. Don't believe me? It drastically changes.

This is one of those rare scenarios where it's nearly impossible to choose. Both of them have written iconic songs for ac/dc that are house hold names now.

You can't convince me otherwise that Scott wasn't responsible for back in black. His lyrics are all over it and lyrical magic ended with that album. Love Brian but they're the 2nd team.
That is why maybe bon Scott wrote the whole ******* album before he died and he called his family to let them know that and that is the only reason they are getting credits till this day for that album

As an aussie growing up in the seventies Bon is and always will be #1. The iconic songs from the Bon era are the best. However, thank god Brian joined and the band lived on to record more iconic songs. They’re are still the best band. I’m just thankful they are still around and making great rock albums when so many other great bands from that 70s aren’t. Don’t compare, just enjoy.
Respect to Brian, he came into an already established band and had big boots to fill. The band could have been a massive flop but he never tried to be a Bon replica and did his own thing. That said, Bon will always be AC/DC to me
Agreed. How amazing is it that Johnson joins and Back in Black is the next able they put out. Arguably the most recognizable album.

Fair enough. They were just as awesome after the untimely death. Back in black proves that.
The reason that ACDC could continue on without missing a beat after Scott's death was because they found a voice that pretty much matched Scott's! to the Idle listener like myself growing up in the 70's and 80's I didn't even know the lead singer changed....hell, I've heard single lead singers voices change more over time than the difference between Scott and Johnson!

It's both for me. I love Bon in TNT and Dirty Deeds, and Brian in Thunderstruck and Back in Black.
Bon was the one that found him. Before he died Bon went to a show and saw Johnson perform. He went back to the band and told them about this great singer. After Bon died they went to Johnson.
They are both perfect for AC/DC! Imagine if a live duet could exist with both of them. I cant think of any other bands right now whose both original and replacement are perfect, but I guess that is all opinion. AC/DC rules hard rock.
That would be the most amazing thing to watch. Both of them on stage belting it out to try and out perform each other! My money would be on Bon Scott though

AC/DC was a great rock band with Scott... continued to be a great band with Brian! Both are very good, each in their own style... what matters is that the band continued to rock at the top!
Whats amazing is Bon has such a distinct voice and they found a replacement that sounds pretty damn close to that !!
Yeah it wasn’t till a few years ago I found out that they had a different singer I always thought it was Brian from the start because they sound so similar

I will admit that when I was younger I never really took interests in bands and their members, so I really never knew Bon Scott was the original singer for a lot of my favorite AC/DC songs. But one thing I did notice is that when I watched Brian Johnson sing, his singing didn't carry the same way as some of the songs on my dads cassettes and when I would watch them on TV. I used to think it was because they changed things for live performances. This video showed me that it wasn't just my crazy little head lol. So for me Bon Scott does it for the vocals and Brian Johnson will always be the face my mind puts into focus for AC/DC. Thanks for the reupload!!!
When Johnson first started with AC/DC, he was amazing, Hell's Bell's is a perfect example of this. But Bon brought us the band, he was the voice and soul.
It’s very hard to choose I probably lean towards bon! I feel closer to home with him, has the more Australian feel with Albert productions recordings, but Brian is great.
A true AC/DC fan love both of them Bon and Brian no matter what fact 💯

Once Bon and his band members went to a bar where they saw Brian singing. Bon was so impressed with Brian that he said to his band members that if anything happen to him (Bon) then they add Brian as lead singer to the group. And they did. What a great family.

I love Brian's voice~ maybe it's cuz I first heard AC/DC with him as front man. Love the band, and the fact that they went on to find a lead to take over when Bon died.
It was a tie i grew up listening to both of them and loved them both .to put one above the other would be wrong . both were made for the lead vocals of AC/DC. Just my feeling on this matter . Thank you this was truly AMAZING to watch . Rip Bon

They’re both great, but when someone mentions ac/dc Bon Scott’s voice pops up in my head
I'm 62 years old. I've seen a few too many deaths of a band member and it never being the same. No individual possessed the ability to not only carry the mantle but to do it this well. Scotts death was truly a tragedy. Brian Johnson gave the band a gift that allowed it to be great forever. Unlike Van Hagar or Van David Lee where the singers were that wrong.(Too soon?)
I think Bon Scott has the edge for me. Johnson made the band extra unique but bon scott just had legendary rock n roll voice

The only time I can remember where two musicians are equally great for the same band.
Both are brilliant performers. When I was a young kid I remember getting the T.N.T. album and was blown away. I also remember seeing AC/DC with Bon on TV. I personally prefer Bon Scott, his lyrics were more like stories and he caught your attention every time you saw him. But I have a huge amount of respect for Brian to carry on the band.

When i was a teen, start buying each album, until Highway, including the fabulous live one "If you want blood you've got it" with Angus got the guitar stick in her chest on the floor.. Bon Scott dead was a shock for us, we heard it on the radio one or two days after. Highway to Hell was a fantastic album, in witch almost all the musics are better than the hit title song..! I really can't see Brian Johnson singing Night Prowler, Touch to Much, Shot Down in Flames, all the rest, the record is a great one to Bon Scott voice.
Tough times, we think the Band will be finished.
Then, after a some time, when nobody expects, comes out Black in Black, with the black cover in honor of Bon, and the stunning Hell's Bell's..!
Brian voice is great, like in the rest of the album, they adapted very well to the circumstances.
Let there be rock is better with Bon voice, but after so much time, doesn't worry to much, the gift of this music is the solo guitar.
They chose well, in heavy times, the recording of Black was hell, never give up, and they keep on rolling.
The controversial stuff about Bon Scott versus Brian Johnson doesn't matter anymore.

Amazing the Back in Black album came out so powerful. Most people recognize that album right away.
I think of both when I think of AC/DC, more Bon of course.

I grew up listening to both so I guess that's why it's so hard to choose. But I favor Bon Scott mostly because his voice is so unique
I think they’re both pretty great, without one or the other AC/DC would not be alive. I know to some people it’s just a band but to us the fans? It’s more than a band. Bon Scott created some thing with the young brothers obviously we know they created it really but you guys know what I mean, that Brian Johnson just picked up and made just as good. So people who respect Bon more really need to realize that without him suggesting Brian we would not even have Brian. It’s OK if you like one singer more than the otherBut seriously at least show respect.

For me, there is a distinct sweetness in Bon's voice. But there are times where he looses me and my soul stops soaring with a song and has to pick back up. Brian is so consistent and well rounded that from beginning to end I never miss a lick. I say this, glad we had the joy of them both like we did. And since I'm such a miserable sob, if I had to choose just 1, I'd go with Brian. So I could stay in the clouds where I feel better.

Bon would be my preference, but what I love is that the band feels totally comfortable with either frontman. Both are the perfect fit for AC/DC, just in slightly different ways.

With Bon AC/DC did more songs where you would cruise to in your car and just feel like a badass. Brian opened up the band to do more hype songs and heavy metal music where you’re rocking out and going crazy. Both are great!

Hard to choose, Brian Johnsonn sounds almost like Bon Scott. I say Brian filled Bon's shoes very well, sure he is a replacement but the band is still going strong thanks to him. Bon Scott is excellent, sure I grew up with Brian Johnson but Bon Scott is obviously the original and number 1. Hats off to both of them, equally perfect as lead singers.
Can't decide. Both are great and have their own characteristics. Scott has better melodic clean voice than Johnson but Johnson is more energetic than Scott. It's like picking between Jesse Leach vs Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage)

I saw ACDC in a Sydney pub with Bonn belting it out and Angus banging on the guitar before they made it on the world stage. Great memories for an old person!! They were in the beginning, back in 1975!!! Man didn't know about a rock and roll show and all that jive.....

I was 16 when I heard 'Back in Black' for the first time-It was in Catholic school in (Really) Ancient Religions class and we listened before the Brother came to give the lecture (It was always a great class) Bon may have had his 'sound" but the anthem that came out when I was able to hear it in 1981-Brian Johnson is forever the resurrected and the only for me. -sorry he is the lead singer for ACDC. Yet I still love Bon-only later, now..

Have read about 10% of the comments. Seems that most agree they are both AC/DC, as do I. My opinion is that Bon was the superior live singer. His live performance voice was truer to his studio voice. That puts Bon over the top ;-))
I love them both.....I am a die hard ACDC fan in my 60's. Here is how I see it. They are both great in their own way. Brian makes me want to get up and rock and roll. Bon......it's a little different. To me....Bon has that oura that makes me stand back and think......Shit......I wanna be like him!
For me, Brian gets you hyped up at a game or party and Bon is good road trip and a night out at the bar music.
