In this order: Q-tip (or cotton bairds, lol, shows how american i am) then the brush, depending on how wide or small the space is that needs blending. I use the blending stumps to blend fine lines and what not, but i find that they become darkened with charcoal too quickly, and then they don't seem to blend so smoothly. But I DO use them, and I do love them, however, the paint brush and Q-tip....and then after those two are applied, i use the tissue only if i have some on hand; that is usually my preferred method. I do find that it varies sometimes, however. Like, certain drawing styles and different unique details can call for a different process with different blending techniques....or maybe that's just me being a noob, lol
P.S. ALL of these methods (besides the tortillons and blending stumps) I originally learned from your tutorials!

Love this drawing! I really need to get back to charcoal more, its been a while since I used it. I usually like using a paintbrush for the beginning layers, and then the blending stump closer to the end. Beautiful drawing, and great video!

excellent as always! Honestly, I have been drawing on and off my whole life, and have always been .......well, decent to mildly good. However, since subscribing to your channel and beginning to watch more and more of your videos (mostly the portrait and face drawing tutorials) and apply your techniques and start using charcoal (which I have always been kind of afrtaid to use in the past) my skills and level of realism and detail, as well as my understanding of this paricular medium have VASTLY improved in just a matter of months! SEriously, you are great! Keep it up. I would like to subscribe to your patreon very badly, but as of now, im a bit broke, however, i totally aim to do that very soon!

Please...Please...Please make a video on how to draw freehand. I'm like those who are good in shadowing and blending, but when it comes to outlining I would make a lot of mistakes like the proportions and distance between the eyes, nose, and etc. And at the end I wouldn't finish my work, realizing I spend a lot of time blending but the drawing is not quite similar to the reference. Please give some tips about freehand or graphing. I've learned a lot of techniques from your vids. Thank You 💖💖💖💖💖
