I'd like to share some knowledge about what I know regarding this engine. I am sure it uses 530 from the factory and manual book, but I suggest using high-velocity 030 or low-velocity 040 change every 5000km. I have seen some of these KR20 engines damaged by using 020. Regarding the filter, it can use a larger filter for Honda or other engines like MANN 610/3, 610/6, or W814/80, which are twice the size of the Nissan filter and work great.
I own a big fan club of VC-TURBO in China. I made a piggy-back for the QX50 that can make it run 0-100 km/h in 5.85 seconds. You are doing a great job of sharing knowledge. Thank you.

That is very good info to know. I wonder why the engine bay says 0w-20 and my manual too. On one of the comments someone mentioned their manual saying 5w-30 also. I wonder if they changed it along the way. I have changed my sons bmw from 0w-20 to 5w-30 but he pushes it a bit sometimes. Also on my C7 corvette GM is changing from 5w-30 to 0w-40 but can use either for the vette. Do you know the reason for the cause of the issue for the 4cy turbo by any chance. Those filters are tiny same as the corvette. I am looking into replacing the filter on my GM 6.2 to PPI filters which are double the size of the AC Delco ones. Thank you for your feedback

@@ExtremDIY I have downloaded user manual for usa 2023 qx50 it says 5w30. Never seen any qx50 or Altima turbo write 020in engine bay. Iam confused about your car.
Only 020 use is KR15. But you know that engine has many failure. You can do your research about the filters . Just make sure the gasket and thread and the diameter match the engine side install surface which quite bigger than Nissan filter.

@ExtremDIY All VCT engine failures are similar, typically involving rod bearing fragmentation. I lot KR15 few KR20. I suggest my group people use 040 for both engine. Works great. And dealerships in China strat to use 530 or 030for KR15 service. I also send my new and old oil to lab test many times. These engines has fuel dilution problem. 5% of fuel getting to oil after 5000km run using 030. 3% after 040. And velocity goes thin a lot.

@@kaiyuchen3156 Thank you for your help. My wife wanted that car for a while and after she purchased it I did see a bit of issues with that motor. We have owned 8 maximas and never an issue with them so we thought this would be a good purchase. I dont like turbos too much but she doesnt use it much. Its new and has warranty lets hope it doesnt break. She got the maintenance included for free and I will be doing the oil change in between the dealer ones. After your comment I contacted the manufacture about the oil issue. Next change will be 5w30. Someone commented that theirs also said 5w30 on their manual. Thanks

@@ExtremDIYHi . I just checked the manuals for the 2024 QX50 and QX55. They changed to 020. But the 2024 Altima is still 530. It’s just nonsense. I will stick to 030 and 040.
Maybe it's to make the fuel efficiency data look better. But it will definitely sacrifice lifespan and power.

The owners manual says 5-30. Why did you go with 0-20. Any advantages?

Hello mine is 0w-20 and if you look online on any auto parts website its 0w-20 for the 2023 infiniti qx50 or QX55 4 cylinder turbo. Even on my engine bay its 0w-20. If you purchased preowned make sure its the correct book for your car. Check your engine bay there should be a decal with the oil viscosity on it. It wont hurt if you use 5w-30 but if you are in a very cold climate use the thinner oil. Thanks

Hello even though mine does have it on the engine as 0w-20 and manual. I was told to use 5w-30 so stick to your manual at 5w-30. I have sent Infiniti a request to ask why my new QX55 has 0w-20 instead. If you read the last post he mentions this. I want to get to the bottom on this to make sure we are good. Maybe there is a change. thanks
