*****UPDATE***** I was cleared for vision as a result from my consult, as of Feb. 25th! Being projected for MEPS again (third try is the charm!) for next week or the week after. Thank you for watching!! 🤍
@@briannaawood oh okay. I have strabismic amblyopia so my one eye is not correctable to 20/20 at all even with glasses, it's like 20/100 and the other eye is 20/20 corrected. I am not sure if I would be able to pass MEPs with those visual acuities. I am going maybe next Monday or the following Monday to find out. It sucks I am expecting to fail to get a consult.
@@PS2Damon You will see a civilian specialist that will kind of ultimately determine whether your condition is "permanently disqualifying". Rules are different for each branch, but sometimes a surgery may be a feasible option if you're up for it. Stay positive, I wish you the best!
Ive searched for an eye consult video for such a long while and i finally found yours! Thank you for this, i go back to MEPS Wednesday and Thursday morning to my eye consult a little nervous for their finings but like you said you have had glasses all your life so if there was a eye disease you would know by now. Good luck to you! i'm going Navy also.
I’m so so glad I was able to help! I felt so disheartened when I couldn’t find any sort of resource on it so I definitely wanted to help in a way! Best of luck and best wishes to you at your consult :) Hooyah
omg girl i was just there for an eye consult this past week and i’ve been over thinking like crazy lol, so glad i saw this video! you sharing your experience made me feel 10x better!
Greattt! Lol thank you for this. Just finished MEPS today and vision (left eye) was the only thing that kept me from swearing in today. I’m not even worried! We got this! Go Queen🙏🏾✨
Hopefully I can get through this. Yesterday I went to MEPS and everything but my eyes were ok. Now this issue arises, when I was filling out the MEPCON 680 and had my recruiter review it, I had originally put I have astigmatism and I got surgery for lazy eye, but my recruiter said to lie about that. So I'm worried about that now.
@@nate9777 Sorry, I haven't done anything about it to be honest. Kind of just don't care about it anymore. Hope your outcome is better than mine though!
Me soon!😭 Did you have to go through the whole medical exam again at MEPS? Or how did the waiver + consult work? I already did the medical exam but now idk if I have to do it again
I did meps last Friday! And got scheduled for a eye counsel. I’m afraid because I paid out of pocket to see my own optometrist before seeing military paid doctor. My optometrist said to stop wearing contacts because it messed scratch up my cornea. He said it will take a long time to heal. Should I be worried? Will this dq me from military entrance?? Or will they look past it and make Me sign a waiver?
Definitely something that is more specific to talk about with your recruiter. Scratching your cornea can lead to a lot of different issues, minor or not, but I don’t think I can give you a more solid answer because I didn’t go through anything like that. :(
If you are taking your ASVAB at MEPS, you go the next day after spending a night at the hotel! If you take it at a recruiting station, you wait for your results and they can schedule you for a confirmation test and medical visit within a few days or weeks!
@@briannaawoodI already tested a month ago! Just working in lose some weight! 😂 But I’m good to go now! 🙅🏻♂️ Thank you so much your videos really help me a lot! ☺️
They told me. I had to go to a civilian doctor for my eyes and nothing was found so I gave my results to my recruiter. Will I need a consult despite going to a civilian optometrist?
It depends on the results you got at your appointment. I was sent to a civilian doctor from MEPS for a consultation, my results came back in about 2 weeks! You shouldn’t need another consult if they have all the info they need, best of luck!
@@briannaawood i recently contacted my recruiter and she said they tried to schedule me a consult and my recruiter had to cancel it because I already did an eye exam. Thank you for your prayers because we could all use one every now and then ❤️ 100% make your own video because there’s always someone looking for information! My prayers for you as you wait for results as well!!
Question. Did everyone, who had to get a consult, take their medical folder from MEPS with them? I wasn't on the hotel list today so now my recruiter will be taking me to my consult tomorrow and I want to make sure we have everything I need before we walk into my consult.
If your talking about your personal stuff you’ve sent to MEPS, it’s already up there with your physical you’ve already done. If your talking about the medical folder they give you from your first go around at MEPS, they will give you it once you check in at the front! Good luck!!
@@briannaawood Thanks for the reply back! The psychiatrist is finishing up my report as we speak! All went well. Now I just hope and prey MEPS accepts her report and actually look at the results today, after my recruiter and I drop them off today, so I can swear in today! Wish me luck 🙏

Just a quick question, do you MUST go back to MEPS for an eye consult? Or you can do it with your local doctors?
Depends on the MEPS, but in my experience I was told I had to do the MEPS doctors

I didn’t really need to bring social since I been up there before but I’m paranoid I’m bringing it just incase.
Do you know how long it takes to get approved it been since last week since my recruiter sent it In thanks
How long did you have to wait in between your initial visit to MEPS and your eye consult
Took about 2 weeks roughly to hear back on a date! Had some other stuff come up that made me wait longer
