Doctor Eye Health yes, but did manage to pass a colour blind test where I managed to match the colours - shades as I couldn’t get many of the numbers on this type of test ( for a police eye exam many years ago! :-).

Super interesting! My cousin is color blind, so I learned a long time ago that my color vision is normal. But it was very interesting to see what the EnChroma type glasses did to the images. Very cool demonstration!
6:08 I can see 5 on the right picture when you are filming through the lenses, however without lenses it's something close to 8 for me. And regarding the picture on the left, can't see anything even through your lenses. However if I wear additionally mine type A pilestone glasses - I can see clear 8 there.
So much info in such a short time! Great videos! My bf has pretty bad red-green color blindness, so I showed this to him. The glasses definitely work thru the camera!
At least, I can tell they are light blue. I've complimented someone's eyes before and it really appears to be a lie when I couldn't identify the color of them.
I have done this test several times from different web-based sources, and it always comes back saying I have severe deuteranomaly. Pilestone recommended their "B" type lens, and I have a pair of clip-ons with those lenses. Amazing difference, but almost too much. Red's look very bright orange, and greens are very dark. So, I tried another set of clip-ons with lens type "A", and have been trying to decide which lenses to send back. Your video helped me make my decision. Without the lenses I can see hardly any numbers at all in the video. I was very surprised to learn that the numbers change based on the deficiency (number on the left vs number on the right), and I never saw anything like a line on the "trace the line" slides. With the "B" lens I can see almost every number correctly. Remarkable difference. The "A" lens doesn't really help me at all, and I will be returning that pair. You holding the lens in front of the camera doesn't really help me. I had to put on my lenses to really see the difference. I have discovered if I wear the lenses for a while my brain starts to correct the colors (red becomes less orange, and the sky goes back to blue (from orangish-blue). When I take them off after having worn them for a while the whole world goes green for a few minutes, but I quickly recover! It's been an interesting experience for me and still is. I see things that I never saw, and it's hard to describe the changes to those who do not have color deficiency. If I tell you a red stop sign now looks very orange, for example, I'm left wondering if what I'm calling orange is what you have always called red. I went through the test with my family some time back, and I told them what I saw on each slide. One of my daughters said she wanted to cry when she realized how I saw the world. No need for tears. It is what it is, and I'm glad to have finally found a way to see colors that I've struggled to see. If I make it through life with only this as a "disability" I will count my self as very fortunate. Autumn will be here in less than one month. I'm very excited to actually see vibrant red leaves on trees for the first time in my life! The Pilestone lenses are great, and the company has been good to work with as I made my selection. I've wondered about Enchroma, but decided to try Pilestone first due to price. Thanks for the video and for helping me make my decision on my lenses.
This is my first time taking this test, I can see every number, I could even see the outline of the upper part of number 2 on the slide that only colorblind people see, thanks for doing this.
I am colorblind. Here is what I saw through the glasses: 6:03 Left is number 8 and right is number 5. That is so amazing! Without glasses I saw NOTHING on the left and the number 8 on the right. 6:15 With Glasses: Left 29 - Right 74 Without glasses: Left nothing - Right 74 6:21 With Glasses: Left 2 - Right 2? (This is the only number I am unsure about) Without Glasses: Left barely see 2 - Right looks like a 2 with lines over it.
@Hanzo _ Huh Are you talking about the 8 on the left that I was able to see with the glasses or the 8 I saw on the right without the glasses? I am a Deutan, which means I have more trouble distinguishing greens. If you are Protan you will have more trouble with reds.
I got normal vision, the last 2 for me was tricky, but i spotted it with alot of work from my eyes. If you can see it right away, you probably are colorblind some sort, if it took you a while to see that 2, your fine.
I'm not really sure if I'm color blind, I went to an eye doctor one time and he gave me a really short period of time to figure out the numbers and he said I had color deficiency. But if I stare at the individual circles for long enough I think I can figure out the number. And also in everyday life I know what the colors of things are. Although that filter really did help in seeing the number. Maybe people with normal eye cones see the number instantly?
I’m actually glad I found your channel. I have astigmatism and I never knew what it meant. Watching your videos I’ve learned so much. I subscribed and will be glad to learn about eye health.
I remember going for a job interview for a job that required perfect colour-vision. I was waiting outside the room where someone else was being tested and the examiner came out and asked me to come in. The person in the room couldn't see the numbers properly but refused to accept he was colour-blind and was only convinced when I read the numbers off correctly.
I found this out of nowhere and this is an absolute diamond on the internet. I'm sure the whole channel is, but haven't gotten to figuring that out yet.
I always thought I had normal vision I would have never thought that I would have colorblindness but when I took the test in the military they told me I was colorblind and couldn’t believe it
hey man color blind isn't anything to sweat. if you have it, think of yourself as unique. the sunset looks different to us. what you see is different from most people, and unique to you. enjoy it. nothing in the world changed before you saw this video as compared to after it; other than your idea of how you see.
I found out I was color blind when I tried to enlist in the Navy for their pilot program. Now I'm an avid hiker and landscape photographer and my wife has been pointing out Indian Paintbrush (wildflower) to me as it is my favorite wildflower. She has been shocked that I walk right past them a lot of the time. When she points them out sometimes I see them and sometime I have to really search. I am very hopeful for color correcting glasses, but in your video I saw very little of the numbers with or without the glasses. Some numbers were slightly more clear with the glasses, although mostly it was...well, there might be something there but I can't make it out. I tried pausing before you said what it was.
My ex husband got Red the grass and my grandson 26 year old got blind color ,I dont know all about he not bother blind color not stuffer. He is normal!
Those glasses vary depending on the type of color blindness you have! Before buying the glasses you have to take the test to know exactly what color blindness you have, and order a specific one for you, then they will work better.
I was in the same situation when I wanted to become an Air Force pilot and failed the test. Nevertheless, I carried on becoming a private pilot, but I persuit the matter, as to me it wasn't as clear cut as the examiner said it was. Over the years, the urge to try it again was building up and I met an examiner that tested commercial and Air Force pilots. I told him my story and he went a bit deeper into the matter and performed a lantern test that I past. I jointed a reserve squadron and served for 23 years reaching the rank of major and was the 2IC. During that time a had a safety, night and instruments rating, as well as a multi-engine rating. After 45 years and thousands of hours in the air, I stopped flying real aircraft and continued flying RC models. I am now 79 years old and I am still flying albeit only flight simulators in the comfort of my home.
@@comancheflyer4903 congratulations for pushing past that block! My dad was a small plane pilot as well. (He enlisted in the Air Force, but his vision wasn’t good enough (though not because of color deficiency), so they sent him to school and he became a computer engineer instead. When I was growing up we had a partnership in a small plane. It was a Piper Comanche! 7204P - I certainly won’t ever forget that sequence as many times as I heard it! LOL. Dad can’t fly anymore after his brain surgery, but I’m sure glad you had many years of flight. :)
I’ve known I was colorblind for a little over 30 years. I am now 41. I would get yelled at by teachers for coloring things the wrong color in school. I’ve heard of these glasses and have been interested. I got the first page barely. I’ve taken this test before and after the first page it just looks like dots to me. The glasses through the camera lens worked for sure. Super cool to see how the other 91% of men see. But they might be missing out on what I see, that’s the way I like to think about it. Either way, super cool stuff doc.
We believed my brother has color blindness and we did this test and he was so surprised to see through those glasses in the video, because he could definitely see those numbers now! We’re thinking in getting these glasses for him now. Thank you!!
This is the best presentation on color deficiency I have ever heard, including from my eye care providers. I have some level of color deficiency and the glasses used at the end of the video are helpful. I will state that people must believe a person with this condition cannot see colors. That is simply not true. What it is more like is your brain not able to perceive small differences in color contrast. Relax, I see the traffic light 🚦 red, yellow and green just fine. Life is colorful and not like some Kodak Tri-X Pan photograph.
You nailed it with the glasses, I was trying to diagnose my 4yo as he mixes red and green often, he wasn’t thrilled and didn’t want to tell the numbers (he was ashamed of not seeing them I think). I got a little more participation from him with the line tracing ones (he could see the ones in top, not bottom) and then he got REALLY excited when you tried the glasses, confirmed he can’t see the numbers without them and asked me to buy him one of those.
I have coloured deficiency this is my problem every time have a medical exam to my next contact I'm a seaman I'm glad to see this video godbless you doc.🙏
Sir, in the Army when I wanted to go Airborne I was given this test and missed 10 out of 17. Later on I found a red filter worked fine for me. Now as an oil painter artist, when in doubt I find a girl to tell me what color. Works wonders! Back in the 70's I bought a pair of sunglasses that were Rose colored! Worked.
My son is severely colorblind and he could actually see the numbers correctly through the lens and was very excited. He did say everything did seem red due to the lens (as if wearing red sunglasses, but it made him be able to see the numbers).
I am strong protean (did I spell that right?) color blind. I found out when I went into the service in 1971 at 18. This has been a serious issue for me my whole life. I absolutely hate being color blind. I could only see the first 12 in the cards you showed. The numbers with the glasses were better, but still hard. I don’t think the color calibration of my iPad is accurate enough to provide meaningful results in this test. Usually I can see a few more numbers than what I saw watching this. I’ve thought of buying the glasses, but don’t think they will be of any practical value as I wear progressive vision glasses. Interesting video nevertheless. Thanks for posting it.
These glasses have progressive lenses and vary depending on the type of color blindness you have! Before buying the glasses you have to take the test to know exactly what color blindness you have, and ask for a specific one for you (with your progressive lenses too), so they will work better.
U gotta do one on the HRR PIP test if you've got the book that is... (It scores deutan, protan, tritan, even tetartanopia, an incredibly rare yellow blindness too.) Btw, I'm the guy who thought he was tritan but enough testing confirmed I am mild deuteranomaly, which it appears my brother seems to have to some extent as well. [It being widely hereditary...] I've tried both Enchroma & Pilestone and both have their pros and cons of highlighting certain hues of color.] To me, stoplights are teal [Green]; copper [Yellow] & ruby red. The brighter the day, the more white the green is. However, with LED lights, it is very difficult to distinguish yellow from red at all in direct sunlight. I can also identify pea & tomato soup around half [50%] of the time. The green pebble plates with the orange numbers are hardest for me to read are real faint, but I can read almost all the orangle pebbles with green numbers. [Fluorescent yellow looks more lime green & reds more dark, burgandy or brown. Violets [flowers] look royal blue. Plus, bright pink looks more violet too.] Anyway, hope this helps! There's a lot of us out there and many more don't know they have it at all.
This is amazing. Towards the end of the video, I was able to see the numbers very clearly. Without the filter, I had to put efforts to find the number and I was unsure if there is even a number on the paper but with the color filter, I saw the numbers perfectly. This is amazing. I am now going to try these glasses. Thank you so much for this video. I have been looking for some way to test these lenses before buying them and was sceptical if they would really work but now I see how they help.
3:30 I could not see the two on the right, even after you pointed it out, it was barely visible. But that 2 isn’t even red or green. It’s like a grayish blue and I see an orange ball with like green basketball like lines 🏀 that mask the 2 even more.
The glasses at the end definitely work. Previously, I could only see 2-3 of the slides. It was much more clear once you showed them through the lenses. PS - wondering if you could post another video with more details on the exact name/nature of each type of color blindness. I appear to be red/green deficient but would love to get a clearly picture (pun intended).
This one might help you work it out, he goes into the different types at the end after you work out your score: ruclips.net/video/sUM8-qL1iCQ/видео.html
Whenever you do a close-up of the patterns, it makes it even harder to see what number should be there, in my perspective; holding the book at a distance makes it more manageable to decipher.
When testing in the clinic there is an appropriate test distance for this exact reason, I tried to get it to be right at around a 40 cm distance (about what people look at a phone or a book) but it was tough.
I saw them all clearly. I was just a bit concerned cos I sometimes struggle to find colours on certain things. Seems though I can see every page clearly I’ve realised I’m perfectly fine. Thanks for your help. You look quite cool in those coloured glasses by the way. Makes you look even smarter😅
I got amazed at 6:15 when I saw 74. I got emotional as I was able to see that particularly for the first time. And there is a cure for this colourblindness with wearing this glasses. I particularly don't see green colour perfectly. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I find it funny when he says “you should see this number if you have normal color vision, and you should see this number if you have a color deficiency” meanwhile, some of the circles don’t have any numbers whatsoever for me.
the colorblind glasses made it look so much different than it was without them. I have trouble every day with identifying the color of something and this really helped me to know what the things actually look like when you showed it through the glasses.
It's weird how i have trouble seeing what number is with red green, i can see splotches, so i can tell something is there, but i have no freaking idea what it is

Dr. Allen, please never wear sunglasses or anything that prevent us from seeing those beautiful eyes you have.
At least, I can tell they are light blue. I've complimented someone's eyes before and it really appears to be a lie when I couldn't identify the color of them.
I was looking for this comment, they're such a beautiful shade of blue and the blue-green shirt offsets them nicely.
I can see so good with your glasses blew my mind.
3:29 I couldn’t see the 2 initially, but now that I know there’s a 2 there I can kind of see it.
When you put the glasses I see 5 and number 74 on the last plates you've shown when you put glasses on the camera, its so amazing

She has been shocked that I walk right past them a lot of the time. When she points them out sometimes I see them and sometime I have to really search. I am very hopeful for color correcting glasses, but in your video I saw very little of the numbers with or without the glasses. Some numbers were slightly more clear with the glasses, although mostly it was...well, there might be something there but I can't make it out. I tried pausing before you said what it was.

they will work better.
Dad can’t fly anymore after his brain surgery, but I’m sure glad you had many years of flight. :)

💯💖Love this! Thank you sharing!
Same for me Bruce. I'm not aware of not seeing color other than during these tests. I can pick out red items from Green ones and so on.

Glad I got them all correct. Got panicky at some level but the answers you revealed were consistent with mine. Awesome and educative. Thanks

I could only see the first 12 in the cards you showed. The numbers with the glasses were better, but still hard. It is 'Protan'

Id love to know how they created the Ishihara test! How the numbers can be so different? Crazy!
They hand painted all the dots with a slight hue difference so that only normal colour vision people would be able to identify the exact number.
HEHS I was able to see the colors through the glasses when you put them over the camera🤩

Strange how I got most of these correct and even saw other numbers within the correct answer. The one with the x and line looked like a slanted 2.
