- Hello all, here we have a 2011 BMW Grand Turismo F07 535d which has a key failure.
Error messages that could be displayed:
"Remote Control. No Engine Start"
"Hold remote control up to steer column".

What causes the remote control key issue ? Came on dash just like that on vid. But also said "may not start if you turn off vehicle " which i had to. now car won't turn on ?
Does the E92 have two key readers as we.
I have 2 FOBS..... 1st works everything as it should.,.,. The second will not start the car without inserting FOB in dash. The comfort entry will not work either.

Salman Hamid there are 2 key readers on in the steering column and one under ashtray in centre column BMW main dealer cost is approximately £60 each small component looks like a USB key place key in ash tray and establish which reader is faulty, then replace and job done

Why didn't you start with changing the battery? And how did you get in to the car without the key fob?
I have a 2012 F11 were it says "low battery" and when I put in a new battery it takes about 2-3 month and it says "low battery" again. I checked it and it's 3.6V on both the old and new battery and it's the same with both fobs and I can unlock the car from 20 yards. I still use them but some times it says "no key" and I can't start unless I lock and unlock a couple of times and it has been like this for 5 years.
Omg i experienced the same prob I bought the same car in the video I replaced the battery 2 weeks ago & now the key isn’t registered with the car now & won’t lock or unlock

pawel sliwka just change the battery! The key has keyless egnition so you can change it your self

I lost my key when digging my car out of the snow in the middle of nowhere. My engine was still running and eventually dug myself out. Is there a way of starting it without a key? a hack BMW don't want you to know, but if you keep pressing the start button very quickly in around 10 seconds it will skip looking for the key, I found out this when my key stopped working and I got in a mood and just kept pressing the button.
My BMW 1 series 2009 model does not want to start. It showing a key sign with a cross on it. What could be the problem. Is it because of the car battery that is low or........?
There could be different reasons for this. Is your car keyless entry?

What was the issue ? I am having the same issue with my f10 2011 however interestingly when I hooked up my CAS to other bmw and tried the key it worked i.e lock unlock function...any idea what could be the issue ...any input would be great
It could be the key battery or the key gone faulty. Try the battery first.

If not there it could be a fault with one of keyless antenas. This should come up on diagnostic. Does the car starts when attach key to column?

It needs to be scanned for faults, and further tests have to be carried out.
