    Hello im sorry for the Lemon Juice, can you use Italian Volcano 100% Lemon Juice, Organic, 33. 8 fl oz, 2 ct from Costco instead? And instead of Tahini, can you use white miso?

      @LetsEatPlants  10 месяцев назад +1

      Sure any lemon juice is fine. 😊 I’m not familiar with that one but if it tastes similar to lemon juice, it should work! I wouldn’t sub with miso because it will be too salty and not creamy!

      You can use cold water! Aquafaba gives a bit better of a texture, but plenty of people just use cold (ice) water instead. 😋😋

    Great there is no oil...i used to loathe the excess olive oil...

    Love it, pretty much how I have made it at home since I stopped pouring oil into it.
    I was making hummus one day and while I was pouring oil into the food processor it dawned on me, "What the hell are you doing!?! Between the spices and tahini you can't taste the oil so why blast your food with 120 cals per tablespoon of oil that adds nothing to the dish"
    But I prefer red wine vinegar for the acid vs lemon juice.

      So true!! 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Oooh I’ve never tried it with red wine vinegar but I LOVE it, so I should definitely try it out. Thanks for the idea!

    And im sorry, instead of tahini can you use sesame seeds? Thanks!

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes you can, but it won’t have quite the same creaminess! But it should work decently if you don’t have tahini. 😊😊

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@jerzeys2finest89 It is! The taste might be the same but since tahini is ground sesame you just may need quite a bit of sesame seeds to achieve the same texture. Definitely worth it to try though!

    Hey do you have to add in the tahini? I like to not add to it if it doesnt make a difference

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  11 месяцев назад +1

      Try it without! I personally prefer it, but you can definitely see what you think without. So blend up a batch and while it’s still it in the blender give it a taste (might need a bit extra aquafaba for smoothness). If you like it as is, leave it and if you think it’s missing some creaminess/ flavor you can always add a small amount of tahini at a time until you’re satisfied. 😊😊

      @@jerzeys2finest89 I've made hummus without oil and without tahini, so basically a very low fat version of hummus and it definitely does not taste the same as actual hummus. What I miss the most is the tahini, which I think is more important than olive oil to give it the typical hummus taste and texture. Even with the spices, garlic and lemon it tastes rather bland and flat without the tahini. But I'm doing low fat for a while so I thought to add roasted bell pepper (which I make in my air fryer, nothing added) to the chickpeas when blending to give it more flavor. I think it's very tasty.
      I scoop it up with raw carrots and put a spoonful of it on roasted slices of zucchini and eggplant. Reserving some of the cooked chickpeas and putting it on top of the completed hummus later also adds something nice to it I think

    Doesn't tahini contain oil?

    • @LetsEatPlants
      @LetsEatPlants  2 года назад +2

      Nope! It’s just ground sesame seeds! Sometimes there is a natural separation in tahini that occurs where the oil pools on the top, but you can mix it back in. Same as with natural peanut butter 😊😊

      It's oil free, not low fat. I have to keep this in mind when searching for low fat recipes. I get a lot of good results when I google "low fat vegan (name of the dish) recipe". But the search results still also show a lot of higher fat recipes that are oil free. For example when googleing "low fat vegan creamy pasta sauce recipe" you still get a lot of recipes that have a lot of cashews in them. The creators haven't labeled them low fat, google just thinks they are relevant results.
