The game is in such a weird state, where it's clearly unpolished and unfinished but there's so much you can do in the game already. I accept it for all it's jank wholeheartedly. This game will only get better with time.
Check the forums out at taleworlds, and they've updated the game nearly everyday with some form of changes and fixes or tiny additions. They'll probs be working on other new features which are currently missing which will be brought out in some kind of big announcement update to let people know. Personal from what I've seen so far and from warband I trust taleworlds with this. Afterall they kinda invented early access with the first game.
Every time I get bored and think I’ll stop, I run someone through with a spear at full gallop and remember why I stay... the way horses turn when slowing down is really cool, they do this kinda side trot. Feels very natural.
the THONK and ragdoll of hitting someone with a thrown spear is also incredible. Mounted combat in bannerlord is some of the best I've played, it's just immensely satisfying to command your troops into a winning formation and ride through everything with the cavalry.
I hope they will be better than in warband, because getting spawned into a close quarter fight with 10% health, then failing the siege because I get knocked unconscious even though the overall group was clearly winning was just not fun at all.
The game like most things doesn’t tell you this but did you figure out that you can increase your army cohesion by spending influence in the army management screen so it doesn’t disband?
What I noticed is, that the AI will "rush" to the enemy if it has the number advantage. If it has less soldiers, than it sometimes goes to a hill and holds a defensive postion and waits for the enemy.
I did a 700 versus 670 battle, super large one and Both sides actually lined up and took shots at each other! While the cavalry on both sides kept infantry charged on one side , the line held, and they retreated, i thought the battle was won. But the retreating infantry actually regrouped and lined up again. I was surprised. Maybe its only in larger battles or “close” battles.
Every day the Ai gets updated. At this rate it maybe the best battle Ai I’ve seen yet. I swear to the gods I had a fight last night where both Ai commanders tried to bait each other out of their high ground positions across an open field and we skirmished for around 3 mins until our side was softened up and then got bum rushed by two flanks of cav. Most amazingly awesome loss I have witnessed in a game. I wasn’t even mad I lost a shit ton of veteran troops
@@RepublicOfPlay when you press esc, it tells you on the game tips section, but I agree the game should do a better job at telling you stuff. Nice video btw
Related to this I always get a speed negative for Herd, without any herd animals present. I assume its for the sumpter horses which are tough to be without.
Those javelin ragdolls are no joke. I was shocked when a guy I was fighting in the arena caught one to the temple and slumped to the ground. Good thing for his skull it was just a """practice""" javelin
Thinking Machine thats like saying you shouldn’t watch horror movies because they are scary, warfare is scary and if it has an effect on the player, all the better.
@@greatgodpan5001 no, that's not what I meant and you know it. If you find something scary that nobody else finds scary, it probably means you aren't mature enough to handle it.
Mere 62 hour player here (but 324 in Warband). Same, trying to see if there's something I've missed (like I really haven't fully figured out how to effectively siege yet), and how other people are liking it.
Here is another Bannerlord for you: You can actually increase your cohesion by spending little influence(+10 cohesion for 10 influence) in the army screen. It should be a button on top. So you can run with your huge army forever as long as you have the influence
The amount of influence for the cohesion can actually vary which I think is a good balancing mechanic for larger armies. For example a smaller 200 man army might be 10 influence or whatever, but when I was commanding almost a 1000 strong army, I was losing 70 influence per 10 cohesion.
To add to the reply above, it costs 0 influence to increase cohesion if your army is made up of only for your party members armies. So you can have a 300~ stack running around for 0 influence
@@calebcampbell9280 If you could plan an ambush by placing your band in an intercept course with another army so your positioned on a mountain and in game you see the opposing army walk through a valley and then attack it would be so cool.
Well as someone who has experienced a great deal of fog in warband, I'm glad they're scrapping mechanics. Putting in too much bullshit was kinda the problem last time.
Bad: it is still early access so a bit buggy and no mods. Worst: It is even more addicting than warband. Nothing beats 1000 people clashing into each other in GLORIOUS GORE AND COMBAT!
I have been using mods since a week ago. Go on Nexus mods and there are some pretty interesting mods that not only modify aspects, but even add new features. Modding is already going well, I can't wait for the more expansive mods like Floris or Prophecy of Pendor was for Warband.
@@Lava_Plays same hahaha Prophecy of Pendor for me. I'm sure with this new engine, the mod team will have plenty of tools to create more crazier stuff. Rather than being limited heavily.
@civilsimmy Dave battle size, kingdom management, campaign map size, more town immersion, smithing, graphics, evolving weather on the world map, siege equipment, army merging, family tree system, economic warfare and cutting off supplies to castles by starving villages, gangs in towns, updated modding with custom skeletons/animation options/scripting/and more. It's good. It is exactly like warband was at launch. This game will follow warband's cycle. It's very good even in it's current state.
A tip for hideouts, the soldiers you bring are the ones at the top of the troop roster and to keep the hideouts from replenishing their numbers just stay at the hideout until the next night; if you go back to a city to heal they will get reinforcements. Difficulty is gauged by how many of those yellow bandit icons are underneath the hideout name, press ALT while hovering over the hideout to get specific information on what units are there. basically if you stay on their hideout all those roaming bands of bandits can't go in to reinforce them, so you just whittle them down if they are strong.
Are you saying you can spend influence to keep them fighting instead of retreating so fast? Cause that would be great. I’ve fought so many battles where I’m greatly outnumbered but would win because I’m in a vastly better strategic position and tearing them up but my troops turn and run anyway.
@@larryzeka5011 No that is morale which you can view on the bottom right of the screen. What he is talking about is Cohesion which you will get 100 once you assemble an army. This will slowly deplete over time but you can refill it easily by spending 10 influence for 10 Cohesion.
Im at a loss with this one.. i had about 800 in game days played and i married. At first all was good until my wife got stuck at some mountain top. Dont ask how, she just did. Try to use teleport cheat to approach your wife, then ask her to join your party. After that, u could teleport again to somewhere else then release your wife from your party
I just realized how cool it would be for bannerlord to have co-op... One player would be the others' sibling and you could have up to like 5 or 6 siblings.. imagine growing your empire alongside your friends.. that would be sick
I would add one thing to the "bad" in the kingdom part: diplomacy needs A LOT of work, I think they are adding features to it, but right now the fact you can't declare wars, propose peace or negotiate alliances directly through the kingdom tab is really frustrating.
Bearded Wotanist Vlandia: “Very well, I accept your peace offering of 80,000 gold.” “Kingdom of Caldrania has made peace with Vlandia” _The next day_ “Vlandia has declared war against Kingdom of Caldrania.”
@@thinkingmachine354 it mostly happens because the conspiracy quest, there is a modifier on how the IA works based on the quest, so they are more aggressive due to the conspiracy, and because that quest is bugged and you can't really stop it, it never ends
Of course. Give it a year, patches, bug fixes, mods... and it could turn out wonderful. Also thanks to you I bought Battle Brothers. BOY, was that a good idea! Damn fine game. Legends mod turns it into something special.
Battle Brothers is one of my all time favourite open ended games. But those bastard Alps and Witches really fucked me off. I just avoid them like the plague.
Been two years and it's still not close to where it was promised to be but all the recent updates have been patches and minor additions of new armors, indicating they're close to done with it
Little Tips about armys and influence: You can earn a lot of quick influence if you donate prisoners to the dungeon. you can increase the cohesion in armys with influence in the menu where you call lords to join your army.
Fans for years: “Neverlord. Just release the game already! What’s taking so long? Just release early access! I’ve given up hope on ever getting to play Bannerlord” Developers concede and put it in early access w/ a 10% (possible 20%) discount : (Some) fans: “WTF! What’s with these glitches! The game is so unpolished! It’s unplayable!” Devs releasing patches everyday, despite COVID, goes unappreciated. -_-
Javier Charlier Unpolished is an understatement. There are a shit ton of exploits, bugs that make the game not enjoyable. I mean literally almost every perk doesnt work, most things are stupidly overpowered which you can exploit, one guy made a video where he trades the lords for their fiefs but here’s the catch he gets them for free and not only that but you add even more money to that trade for free, and I dont think there’s an explanation needed for why this is so broken. It’s clear that this game will get better, get rid of the exploits and other bugs, and thats okay. Most people wouldnt mind waiting a year for it to be out of early access, ( it does make you wonder where the fuck did those 8 years of development go cuz exploits are endless and it makes you wonder if there was someone who tested the game) what I mind and most people as well is that you’re paying 50euros which is a lot of money especially in countries where the monthly income is like 350e, for a game with endless bugs, exploits that can ruin the game.
@@surge9310 dude come off it. It's exactly like warband was at release. People don't seem to remember that this is what warband was at launch. This game is fun and hours to $ a great value, even in it's messy state. @@surge9310 Cost shouldn't matter, its a choice just like playing an early access game... If exploits are such a problem, don't use them... If the bugs are ruining the game, don't play...
The game was scheduled for release in like 2016/7 given the constant delays it's deffo less polished than it should be. People cut this game too much slack. AAA prices require AAA quality.
@@vetren23 yeah it looks like a great game and i will get it at some point. But 8 years of development for the current state? Add to that graphics that look like they are from 10 years ago.
I think a cool feature would be more interaction with named prisoners like getting them involved in a plot by threatening execution etc...and also make it possible to get more ransom from the family by threatening execution. Just more interaction with characters instead of the 5 same things over and over. I think the game looks good just needs more "life"
I have to say this is the most thorough review. This is exactly what I’m looking for, straight forward but detailed without unnecessary explanation or comments. It’s a breath of fresh air to see reviews done right.
btw you can choose who you bring to a fight it is based on who is at the top of the party tab so whenever I do hideout missions I always take teir 5 crossbowmen and slow roll up to the different spots and shoot the enemies to death that method works really well for hideouts up to 40ish guys in them.
@@razputin7520 last couple times I did it I dragged veteran sharpshooters to directly below my character and it selected 5 of them to join me as well as the "body guard" follower which to me seems a pretty surefire to me. It is also how this mechanic worked in warband so... idk.
One of the most annoying things in my opinion is that so many units have spears on their backs, but I have no idea how I can tell them to use it. For example, I have like 30 "Spear-"men but they still use their swords, with the spear on the back even with enemy cav charging at them. But so far I have not found a command to tell them to take out their spear. But in general I would love to see a "did you know" type video. Great review btw :)
I saw some prolonged infantry shooting arrows at each other with mounted Skirmishers circleing around like mad and cavalry fights all over quite a few times, especially when I was pledged the the Imperials. Cavalry is the best. And I'll have to find a lance like that, holy crap.
@@Asmitha90 Yeah spears always have been useless against cavalry unless being used by a player. They really need to make it where spears aren't so damn useless, and are actually used by the AI on foot.
@@LordVader1094 Mount and Blade With Fire & Sword did a good job with pikes. If a unit stood still or was crouching, the pike would be able to devastate cavalry.

Great video and very well organized. I think you were fair about where the game is right now, and I’m looking forward to seeing more bannerlord content on your channel!
If you click the flag button while leading an army you can use influence to increase the cohesion of the army(+10), so if you have a lot of influence you can support a huge army(if you have the food for it ofc). Furthermore I've read and seen for myself that when selling prisoners in the tavern district, if you click the quick access sell all button it wont actually level up your roguery skill and you have to actually have to click "Pick what prisoners to sell" menu in order to level up that skill.
This is the best review I've seen yet on Bannerlords. I've watched dozens and none went into the kinda depth within the game that you have. Most people just whine about how shallow everything is.
18:40 Correction Here. the cohesion can be replenished with Influence. Whenever you see it start to get really low, either A. click the 3 flag symbol to the left of the cohesion bar, or B go in normally and manage your army. If you look up near the top you'll see your current cohesion and a +10 box thats clickable. For 10 Influence, you can had 10 cohesion. You cannot add when its over 90, since you can only have 100 max, and there is no partial adding.
Try rearranging units. Those that you want to take with you into missions and whatnot place in the top. In Warband units would be picked from top to bottom. Also you can select a bodyguard companion that way, placing him/her in the top of unit list. This applies to reinforcements when battles are over max battle size.
Pro tip for influence. Buy all the grain you can, and join armies. Your food will be added to the total food supply that the army can draw from if another vassal runs out. It was nice to get 10 influence/day for a week long campaign just by providing a bit of food. So, I was able to throw around my weight and just get a town I didn't siege.
There is a way to control who follows you to fight a hideout. Companions are automatically chosen, but it will draw from whoever is on the top of your troops list. You can drag troops to the top and they’ll be chosen by the game to follow you in.
in regard to choosing who enters hideouts with you, you go into your party screen and move your desired companion troops right under your character, when choosing troops to accompany you, the game typically goes from top to bottom on that list, it is a little random but should help
I had a siege bug out on me once, which caused my character all of his men, and all of the defenders to transport into a small room and just hack away at each other until only one side was left. The room looked like a throne room, so I wonder if they'll add a second stage to sieges that require fighting in the keep to capture the settlement.
18:45 you can use influence to increase the cohesion of your army and you can get tons of influence by donating either troops or prisoners to allied castles and towns
You forgot to mention the uber insane memory leak that basically kills campaigns after enough time is passed... even closing the application and reopening it doesn't solve it the moment you load back to a campaign that lasted for too long your performances will go to hell.
I didn’t forget to mention it, I didn’t get that issue. It’s my review and my experience, I don’t read forums or watch others opinions before making videos, I just played the game, streamed it, and made the video. I had 1 crash in 60hrs.
You are experiencing it. It shows very well in your clips of a siege at 26 minutes. I can see the stuttering there very well. Didn't you notice that that particular behaviour just start only after some time on a campaign? Still if you close your application and run a 1k battlesize siege custom battle it runs smoothly. Also the beginning of a campaign runs perfectly.
That siege/bad framerate came from the siege tower nav mesh breaking. When towers open, the framerate cripples to below 10 for a while, and will come back up when the pathfinding works out what it needs to do. (You can tell all your troops to go somewhere and the framerate will fix instantly, but let them climb towers and it cripples) This has been since patched out, which is why I didn’t dwell on it. It’s not a memory leak. I played the game every day on stream for 7 days, each session being around 6hrs without any restart. The framerate didnt drop the longer I went.
@@RepublicOfPlay Ye got curious so went to check your last 3 vods. The problem is that for what I have seen you didn't get to a very long campaign cause you got fucked by the snowball bug before the "save leak" got you (and you just decided to restart and for good reasons I may add). I haven't check older vods cause too much bother. If you want to check yourself there is a mod that let time pass much faster. Put that on just let time pass save and load every 50 days and just let time pass. At some point the game will become unplayble for some reason... after that if you keep going what happens is that the save get corrupted and can't be even loaded.
What a brilliant review. I bought it 3 weeks ago and I'm in gaming heaven. A game you think about when you are not on it. It's the best thing since sliced pan.
You can increase your cohesion by pressing the little +10 button at the top right in the army screen, it costs influence depending on the size of the army
The worst thing is when you realize that almost everything and more is already in Mount & Blade Warband - and sometimes even better. Just to give some examples: - In Warband if you conquer a city or a castle or have little to no fiefs, you will get it. - If you help someone in a battle you always get better relations. - sieges usually are in 2-3 "waves". The first main battle, the battle for the city, the last stand in the keep. - You can organize a gathering at your home castle/town. - There are gatherings after tournaments. - You have a few more options to talk to people. ... just a few examples. I know it's early access, but it's just frustrating to see so many new players to M&B not even realizing, that they could play the better version right now.
I find the combat in bannerlord more fun Maybe it's the nearly 1000 hours thing but having that intensity and weight is so refreshing. I can't 10 v 1 anymore
Currently, for that army cohesion you discussed there's a +10 button along the top of the army menu when you interact with where you can call more lords to your banner. As far as I can tell it doesn't cost you anything in terms of food, money, influence, renown, etc. to add +10 to that army cohesion. I imagine this is a feature that will be implemented later and now it's just a little place holder, but as you mentioned in the video I kind of enjoyed the "beat the clock" aspect to laying a siege, building siege equipment and storming the castle before your lords get cranky about harvesting season.
you can use influence in the Army Management screen to increase cohesion. as long as you have food and influence points you can extend the life of your army
As for the hideouts, in warband it was possible to "choose" you warriors for this.... the warrior that are up in your partylist are more likely to fight on your side.... don't know if its still a thing
Watchin you take the 900 denars to turn on your allies - as if you're a force to be reckoned with - Then turning round and getting absolutely decked in about 2 seconds, was the funniest shit omg
The "who you bring with you to hideout raids" is an issue since M&B warband, but it is solved over there: the higher you put your soldiers in your party list, the higher priority they have to be brought with you.
@@swedsteve93 It was always a hassle, particularly in the early-midgame when my character wasn't very battle focused until I found out about this. No need for careful tactics when your bandit genocide party consists of several veteran Rhodok and Swadian Sergeants.
i haven't played it yet ( i dont like playing unfinished games) but thankfully everything you mentioned that is bad seems like stuff that can easily be fixed by TaleWorlds or the modding community, which fills me with hope :)
I haven't played it yet, but regarding what you say at about 16:30 about picking who you go into hideouts with, in Warband you could do that by moving your best troops and companions up in the order on your party screen. In fact this would help you in sieges or large scale battles as well, because it enabled you to move higher in the queue your most desired soldiers for a particular battle scenario. For example, when i sieged, i would always move my archers to the top of my queue, because i wanted to rather weaken the defences from afar rather than storm the walls immediately with my infantry and cav. In open field battle, depending on the terrain, before engaging the enemy, i would first make sure i chose the best types of units for that battle (as many cav as possible for a fight in a plain terrain against infantry units, or archers and spears on a hilly terrain against cavalry and infantry for example). So not sure if you didn't know about this, but i really doubt they didn't replicate this in Bannerlord, this should still be possible.
Great summary Darren, thanks a lot. I really like your videos as you always explain everything in a very objective way and share your own experience. Keep on going!
Yes you can choose who you bring with you into a bandit camp. In the party screen drag troops to the top right under your character. They will then be the ones to accompany you.
TW`s patches did nothing to my late game, still having the snowball effect in each campaign... maybe if i give them 2 more years, because 8 years weren't enough...
They gave a response to this exact problem. What they said is basically the AI accumulated a massive wealth before the economy patches, and fixes don't effect them bc they are already rich. It sucks for some people but new save was their recommendation.
The tracking skill helps with finding people on the map. You can go to the area they were at and look for arrows on the ground matching their party size.
I always wanted that.. The only way it would work is if time ran at a constant rate. No pause or fast forward. But problems always arise when it came to battles in general... Would the other player have to watch your battle as the campaign menu is paused? If not what if peace was declared during the battle? Can any lord come in and defend a side at any time? It creates like a million things to sort out.
For the hideouts, I believe that the units that are at the top of your unit list are the ones that join you, although companions seem to often join no matter where they are in the list... I do wish you could pick however
This is why I subscribed to your channel. This is one of the most immersive reviews I've seen for this game! I've been playing this game long enough (70 hrs) and I cant wait for the major updates to come along with the features that are missing. Cant wait until this game is fully finished and with mods!
16:28 you CAN choose the soldiers to get in hideouts by ranking the soldiers top to bottom the top is the ones that you want to bring with you in the party menu
Hey, for anybodys information . You can choose who goes w/ you into hideouts. Just move all the men you want w/, to the top of the list just underneath your own character. It's in the party manager where you see all your men to upgrade them ect.
@@RepublicOfPlay Well, I know it was a thing in Warband and I've seen people doing it in their lets plays and it seems to work. Maybe it is patched in now or people thought it worked and it was just happen stance that they got all their troops they wanted in the attack
When raiding bandit camps - Who comes with you is based on the order of your units list. The first 8 or 9 come along, so if you stack companions followed by your best troops you'll have a better time of it.
FWIW, the number if troops inside the two bannerlord banner piece locations CHANGE over time. The hideout is used by various mission-independent groups so just check back later if there are too many.
18:35 ish You forgot to mention that you can spend influence to keep the army together for longer. Click on the same tab you use to form the army and in the top right you can raise its 10 Cohesion at a time by trading your influence. This is especially useful when a siege is taking than you had planned.
Troops that are on top in your inventory are coming with you when you attack the hideouts! It's the same thing if you are sneaking into the Castle after being attacked. Always keep the best troops on top. It's also bad that you can't sort them by rank or something, you have to do it manually.
If you click the +10 number next to the cohesion bar you can fill that, companion armies don't cost influence then, normal vassals do I think, thats also a very very fast way to level Leadership. Another thing you can do in sieges is build equipment, then quickly click them when they are built and put them into reserve, this way you can build a ballista an onager and a trebuchet put them into reserve, and they will be available when you assault the walls. Alternatively you can quickly spawn them in all at once on the main map in order to destroy the enemy siege engines. Ive done that once to destroy the walls of a keep, so you dont need siege towers. Keep in mind that when your siege engines get destroyed you will loose men.
The hideout is actually set like how warband was. All of your companions and the troops on top of your list. Being on good terms with most lords in your kingdom is also important so that when in need they will vote in your favor (when you show up as an option that is)
A tip for finding people, at least VIPs with big armies is to have good tracking skill (or a companion with good tracking skill set as your scout) and looking for the tracks of a decent sized war party leaving that last known location. YMMV depending on the traffic in that area or if the person tracking isn't at the head of a large warparty, this works great on kings of each faction though since they usually are rolling with the biggest army.
You need charm to court woman. The bottom right of the screen you can make that tab bigger which shows your speed. The unit your chasing has a speed as well if you hover over them. If your slower by more than .1 don't bother chasing. When you raid a hideout the first units in your army is what you get.
got a few questions: 1)can you leave your own comprades/lords to patrol your areas of interest. how independent do they act? 2)can you equip your army with the gear you want? 3)how important is diplomacy in this game?
Republic There were a few features that you wanted in the game and weirdly enough some of these features were in M&B Warband in Warband you would have an encyclopedia just like in Bannerlord through that and asking of where a Lord was, you would find out where he was heading Also in Warband there was a trait called "Tracking" which allowed you to find footprints of armies/warbands/companies/etc. and you would see a rough estimate of many they were
Also for people starting the game, very important piece of information (and also not provided by the game) is that there is a time limit on the main quest line. If you don't do it because you want to explore first (like I did) you end up failing it, and if you don't think too much of it at first (like I also did) then you will be caught entirely off guard by the quest being irreversibly failed and the main quest line becoming unavailable entirely (you can never start a kingdom and you can never start a family without it) and currently there are still no fixes for that unless reloading or erasing game file to a place where you still had the quest active.
16:30 for warband was the case that the guys in the top of your troop list will join you in hideout battles. So by ordering your list of troops from strong to weak units, you always get strong troops to join you. Isn’t that the case here as well?
Yep, you just sold me this game. I hear "Policy" and instantly like im there. Warband was fun, but it wasn't like... good. But Diplomacy, Policy, those are my jam. Stellaris recently got The Galactic Community (Space United Nations) and now Mount And Blade is getting Kingdom Diplomacy... that is amazing.
On your one point about tracking people down being too difficult, you can actually use the Bannerlord encyclopedia which has been refined and as incredibly useful now. If you right click on the banner of any settlement or town, it will bring it up. If you navigate to the person you are looking for, it gives you their last known location in the top right, which typically is within a town and can give you the general location.
18:30 Please help me here...I cannot create armies, because in this screen, I do not have the cancel/reset/done buttons under the window. I just have a little nub of the reset button sticking out below the window, so all i can do is reset...
On the ability to track people, you probably know this by now but leveling scouting gives you tracks. Getting enough levels I think 125 you get more information which shows you whose tracks you are following exactly. So you will see the Lords name rather than just Empire Army 125 men.

I hope they will be better than in warband, because getting spawned into a close quarter fight with 10% health, then failing the siege because I get knocked unconscious even though the overall group was clearly winning was just not fun at all.
I don't know if i'm just dumb or what but I was in a siege and my army cohesion failed and I was immediately caught by the garrison.

THATS A NICE HEAD YOU HAVE ON YOUR SHOULDERS
Was wondering when the best overview would be out. Here it is.
Worth the wait as always.
The game like most things doesn’t tell you this but did you figure out that you can increase your army cohesion by spending influence in the army management screen so it doesn’t disband?
Helpful. Helped me decide whether to buy the game or just stick with Warband.
What I noticed is, that the AI will "rush" to the enemy if it has the number advantage. If it has less soldiers, than it sometimes goes to a hill and holds a defensive postion and waits for the enemy.
I saw a tactic were if losse an engagement and can retreat to a defensive position the ai will do this, in this case was a hill.
@@notatrollll yeah, cav was involved like this too
Hmm a bit like some of the total war games in that respect then
Every day the Ai gets updated.
The word sumpter means pack animal. And by the way, the game DOES tell you to keep horses on your inventory to increase speed
I've never seen it tell me that, must have missed it, only saw it in the tooltip after I already had horses.
@@RepublicOfPlay when you press esc, it tells you on the game tips section, but I agree the game should do a better job at telling you stuff. Nice video btw
@@victinhoemn this is true, but it's easy to miss.

Those javelin ragdolls are no joke. I was shocked when a guy I was fighting in the arena caught one to the temple and slumped to the ground. Good thing for his skull it was just a """practice""" javelin

I mean it makes sense given how many people you are leading at once
Adding sneak and ambush mechanick woud wastly improve the game in its chasing aspect.
There was an ambush system planned but it got scrapped because it apparently wasn’t fun.
@@calebcampbell9280 If you could plan an ambush by placing your band in an intercept course with another army so your positioned on a mountain and in game you see the opposing army walk through a valley and then attack it would be so cool.
@@calebcampbell9280 Hopefully they take another look at that because ambushes are technically complex and could be great little mini battles
I like this idea. They scrapped it but i think it's workable.

@civilsimmy Dave it is one of the best mod from M&B 1
Already played 50 hours of it, incredible addictive, just like Warband was
Can't wait for the additions to the game as the bugs are fixed
92 hours later ... its not addictive neither was Warband
If you have 92 hours now then you are clearly addicted. The game is 4-5 days old or something.
How in gods name did you get it to run that long without crashing every 10 minutes??????
I love this game so much but I cannot play it because it crashes every few minutes
You can spend influence to keep your army on the field before it's going to disband. It's on the top right corner of the army management menu

Battle Brothers is one of my all time favourite open ended games. But those bastard Alps and Witches really fucked me off. I just avoid them like the plague.
Been two years and it's still not close to where it was promised to be but all the recent updates have been patches and minor additions of new armors, indicating they're close to done with it
Most people died in medieval and antiquity battles when running away, and less so actually fighting.

You can earn a lot of quick influence if you donate prisoners to the dungeon.
you can increase the cohesion in armys with influence in the menu where you call lords to join your army.

(Some) fans: “WTF! What’s with these glitches! The game is so unpolished! It’s unplayable!”
Devs releasing patches everyday, despite COVID, goes unappreciated. -_-
Javier Charlier Unpolished is an understatement.
People don't seem to remember that this is what warband was at launch. btw you can choose who you bring to a fight it is based on who is at the top of the party tab so whenever I do hideout missions I always take teir 5 crossbowmen and slow roll up to the different spots and shoot the enemies to death that method works really well for hideouts up to 40ish guys in them.

Just like warband
I can confirm this works
We tried that on stream, it didn't work. If it works now it might've been patched in since
@@RepublicOfPlay I've been doing this since patch 3 or 4. Granted I haven't put it through the most rigorous of testing

Pro tip for influence. Buy all the grain you can, and join armies. Your food will be added to the total food supply that the army can draw from if another vassal runs out. It was nice to get 10 influence/day for a week long campaign just by providing a bit of food. So, I was able to throw around my weight and just get a town I didn't siege.
the sumpter info was worth this like, trying to upgrade soldiers kept saying no horses in inventory when i had 20 but they were sumpter
And the fact that if they don't have a horse type: horse they don't actually increase your party speed! I would have never known probably.
Well the info is in the name sumpter, meaning pack animal.
well it also says "horse" , and the upgrade soldier says needs "horse" so it can be confusing to those of us who dont got all that fancy learnin
I knew something weird was going on with the horses but hadn't worked out what!
The beta branch has icons that denote whether an animal add speed or cargo capacity. Still kind of a rough guide but it's a little better at least.
There is a way to control who follows you to fight a hideout.
Companions are automatically chosen, but it will draw from whoever is on the top of your troops list. You can drag troops to the top and they’ll be chosen by the game to follow you in.
There's a trait under trade that lets your workshops/caravans earn renown :)
in regard to choosing who enters hideouts with you, you go into your party screen and move your desired companion troops right under your character, when choosing troops to accompany you, the game typically goes from top to bottom on that list, it is a little random but should help
I had a siege bug out on me once, which caused my character all of his men, and all of the defenders to transport into a small room and just hack away at each other until only one side was left. The room looked like a throne room, so I wonder if they'll add a second stage to sieges that require fighting in the keep to capture the settlement.
Thats glorious
The same thing happened to a RUclipsr called Appollo. He thought it was a game feature where the citizens opened the gates for him
18:45 you can use influence to increase the cohesion of your army and you can get tons of influence by donating either troops or prisoners to allied castles and towns
Ah, I said the same thing just now... He needs to Like a comment so people know.
(You can tell all your troops to go somewhere and the framerate will fix instantly, but let them climb towers and it cripples)
This has been since patched out, which is why I didn’t dwell on it.
I've noticed this but restarting the game has always fixed it for me. For a few hours. Then restart again and repeat... for days ha

Thanks for the sumpter horse info. I never would've figured that out on my own.
Its called sumpter meaning pack animal.
That sigh you gave when you killed all your men with that rock... I fucking felt that
The worst thing is when you realize that almost everything and more is already in Mount & Blade Warband - and sometimes even better. Just to give some examples:
- In Warband if you conquer a city or a castle or have little to no fiefs, you will get it.
I find the combat in bannerlord more fun
Maybe it's the nearly 1000 hours thing but having that intensity and weight is so refreshing.
23:35 Please tell me that was a live with the proper reaction to that guys awesome death
you can use influence in the Army Management screen to increase cohesion. as long as you have food and influence points you can extend the life of your army
As for the hideouts, in warband it was possible to "choose" you warriors for this.... the warrior that are up in your partylist are more likely to fight on your side.... don't know if its still a thing

LONG LIVE THE BLUE GUY!!
The "who you bring with you to hideout raids" is an issue since M&B warband, but it is solved over there: the higher you put your soldiers in your party list, the higher priority they have to be brought with you.
Yea I just naturally do this with companions and then my top tier units so I never really ran into that problem.
You can use influence point to increase army cohesion by opening the army management window and pressing the [10] by the cohesion meter.
If both armies are large enough and have a similar amount of units then the battle for me usually last around 10 minutes, which is fine for me.
I did know about it, doesnt work in bannerlord
I think there should be a start choice
For example start as a lord or even the emperor, maybe an established merchant or mercenary 😉

They gave a response to this exact problem. What they said is basically the AI accumulated a massive wealth before the economy patches, and fixes don't effect them bc they are already rich. It sucks for some people but new save was their recommendation.
Yea I just made another campaign and its seems more balanced.
The tracking skill helps with finding people on the map. You can go to the area they were at and look for arrows on the ground matching their party size.
100 hours in Warband? You didn't like it.
23:26 tip, build siege engines, click them and store them. stack up and then deploy the engines so you can destroy theirs and then the walls.

Jouc4 that would be sick
I always wanted that.. The only way it would work is if time ran at a constant rate. No pause or fast forward. But problems always arise when it came to battles in general... Would the other player have to watch your battle as the campaign menu is paused? If not what if peace was declared during the battle? Can any lord come in and defend a side at any time? It creates like a million things to sort out.
For the hideouts, I believe that the units that are at the top of your unit list are the ones that join you, although companions seem to often join no matter where they are in the list... I do wish you could pick however

16:28 you CAN choose the soldiers to get in hideouts by ranking the soldiers top to bottom the top is the ones that you want to bring with you in the party menu
That doesn't actually work in Bannerlord. Might be a bug?
It does seem to prefer to bring in companions, though.
Hey, for anybodys information . You can choose who goes w/ you into hideouts. Just move all the men you want w/, to the top of the list just underneath your own character. It's in the party manager where you see all your men to upgrade them ect.
I dod this and it doesnt work, unless its been patched in.
The Sumpter horse thing would have gone unnoticed by me if not for you. Thank you
18:35 ish You forgot to mention that you can spend influence to keep the army together for longer. Click on the same tab you use to form the army and in the top right you can raise its 10 Cohesion at a time by trading your influence. This is especially useful when a siege is taking than you had planned.
Yeah I wasnt aware! A few people in comments have pointed it out now!
Being on good terms with most lords in your kingdom is also important so that when in need they will vote in your favor (when you show up as an option that is)
Doesnt work for me, tried it multiple times on stream. Unless it was patched today or yesterday
For anyone having performance issues , try disabling full screen optimization and set high priorty in the task manger
Great video, I've been missing your content here on youtube!
When you raid a hideout the first units in your army is what you get.
got a few questions:
1)can you leave your own comprades/lords to patrol your areas of interest. how independent do they act?
2)can you equip your army with the gear you want?
3)how important is diplomacy in this game?
Republic
There were a few features that you wanted in the game and weirdly enough some of these features were in M&B Warband
in Warband you would have an encyclopedia just like in Bannerlord
through that and asking of where a Lord was, you would find out where he was heading
Also in Warband there was a trait called "Tracking" which allowed you to find footprints of armies/warbands/companies/etc.
and you would see a rough estimate of many they were
Good review 👍
Nope
Hit the little triangle in the bottom right and hover your mouse over the map movement speed to see all of your bonuses and penalties
You can increase your cohesion when you go to manage army with it being at the top, it costs influence to do so.
16:28 Apparently the first 8 people in your party list are the ones that are taken in
