Did you know that: - In the encyclopedia you can select heroes and then check the box “wanderer” to show you most if not all available/recruitable heroes, where they are and what skills they have. - you can also use the stamina of your companions to make smithing a little bit less tedious. - it takes about 15 seconds of waiting to recuperate your smithing stamina from empty to full. - you can buy shops in cities for extra income. - smelting weapons and selling the raw mats often is much more profitable. - it’s better to always choose the option to choose which prisoners you want to trade, even if you want to trade them all anyway, selecting which ones to sell levels your roguery, auto-selling doesn’t. - in my personal experience the best way to complete bandit lairs with minimal casualties is by equipping a big tough shield, set your party on follow and “lead” them through the lair while protecting them from missile fire. I’ve cleared 40+ lairs this way without casualties. (Sometimes I select “charge” for a brief second to find remaining bandits) - you can donate prisoners at other settlements/castles of your fraction to gain influence. - you can work around the “family feud” bug where the NPC doesn’t follow you into the village by going to the villlage and while in the village menu kicking the NPC out of your clan (selectable at the clan menu). Then leave the village and return, the NPC will be in the village. Then when exploring the village, the NPC will be standing next to you, just ask him to take you to the leader of the village and you can complete it. - even if you find bandit lairs on your own, go check the surrounding village’s, every time I’ve found a quest to get rid of that lair for extra gains. - even if you don’t use a shield, having one on you back if you have the extra slot, protects your back from missile fire. - at the “escort caravan” quest, be prepared when the caravan exits a settlement, because that is the moment it can be attacked by bandits, reacting a few seconds too late can be fatal here. - “sending in troops” against looters will only lead to wounds, never casualties. Doing this levels your troops the fastest (much faster then when you lead the army yourself) with basically no risk of loosing troops. Don’t do this with any type of bandits, even one bandit can kill troops. - even though it is still a bit unbalanced, glitchy, buggy and raw, it’s an awesome game 😅

This video shows how much Love was put into the game. It needs a lot of polish and tutorials, sure, but we will get there in time. Excellent video, you just made battle formations a lot easier for me
I would really recommend checking out VoiceAttack. It's software that allows you to bind key presses to your speech. For example, you could say something as simple as "Infantry, form a shield wall and advance" and the game will do it for you. There's already profiles online and I've been using it for the past two days, and I've gone from just knowing charge and fall back to using formations, splitting my groups, etc. It's made it so much more fun, I feel like a proper commander of my armies now.
@@transparentcd yeah, it works great. The creator put so much work into it, that synonyms work as well; you don't even need to look at the full list of commands to immediately figure out what to say.
@@Mustis91 the software isn't free, but there is a trial version that allows for a couple commands in a profile, so you can at least have your bare essentials. The creator of the mod has a profile designed for trial users as well. I think the full version is around $8, and you can probably find keys for cheaper if you look around.
Thank you! Im realy salty right now because I spend 162 hours on this game and didnt know most of your tips. Devs should make good ingame tutorial becouse some of them are essential like - removing your catapults to reserve FFS!!!
Also, companion parties are good for more than just raising relations. They also raise your renown when they win battles, as well as gain influence for your clan, they prioritize protecting your assets (be it protecting fiefs from raiders, defending your caravans, fighting bandits near your towns and villages, etc), they can be summoned into your armies at 0 influence cost, and if they defeat wealthy enemies the surplus gold they get will be paid out to you in your daily income. In fact I would argue that they are SO useful and necessary that it should be a priority for you to find good companions to lead parties (i.e. companions with high tactics skill) and make sure that you have your maximum number of clan parties enlisted at all times. Also, your personal family members can also lead clan parties, meaning your spouse and any adult children you may have. They are invaluable once you get to the mid-game as they give your clan far more reach, allow you to build up reputation/renown/influence quicker, and they dramatically expand the number of troops you have at your disposal (by letting you recruit them into your army for no influence they are essentially free clan armies that you can call to you to take settlements and defeat enemies at no cost).
Yep it is the first thing I do and I do not worry about caravans as they take up companions money is by no means lacking mid late game so companions can be better used else where (eg healer, scout in party) I also marry Liena or Ira as they come with there own army and I take their gear Liena has the best armor I have seen and sells for 480k so guessing 1.2 mil to buy. Like you Jaq I see using companions this way as totally invaluable! also polices are a must I went from being able to have 180 men to 260 just by enacting a few polices not to mention other benefits. There are 2 or 3 I enact before going to war and disavow when in peace times :) ps 2h large executioner axe on horse back is so dam fun hehehehehe
jaquestrap Is it possible to bring the companions back to your ‘team’ after releasing them in their own party? I did this, then realized I made a mistake and want them in my party again and can not find them anywhere...yes I use the encyclopedia.
That is useful, problem in my case I'm barely profitable enough to support one extra party despite various income, but it would be something to look into maybe a way to train younger family members or something
swmithing is crazy op, you can craft sword that will sell for 10k+ gold and there are sometime smith quests that give over 100k it litterally breaks the game you just star by smelting all you find and learn the skill where you get recepies faster for smelting to unlock every recepie fast
What I did was that I placed every not upgraded troop in the garrison (could have also just kicked them out I guess) before the time runs out, then I could give the villager all other upgraded men. So I could complete the quest but didn't get the full reward, but no minus reputation

Did you know that the gear that a town sells is dependent on the workshops that are active in that town? So you can change what a town sells by changing the workshops there. This can either eat in to your profits due to excess supply, or be used to make expensive weapons and armour cheaper, by stacking more than one smithy in one town. Also you can help starve out a town by buying all of its food and the food of the connecting villages. Garrisons of neutral factions can be partially starved this way and towns made less prosperous, all without war.
i kinda do the opposite after taking a town i go give the villages 100 grain and 100 fish etc....speeds up the starving recovery in the main city by a ton
@@iamplay797 Yep, you can affect which kingdoms will prosper economically just by buying up food from the ones you want to fail and supplying to the ones you want to succeed. Very expensive though, so you do need a bit of cash to attempt it without just losing money.

That siege-equipment reserve thingy is a game changer tough, awesome video.
Battle Tip: (If you're the empire) Stack up on Infantry with shields, and Crossbowmen, you can form a shield wall, which actuallly is one of the most effective things in the game against an AI, once they're weak enough, send your soldiers charging at them, all of them, every unit. They'll fall easy and quicker. And hey, if you're good at charging and not dying, go by yourself to the enemies and slice down a couple before going back to your men to help defend.
I would kiss you if I could. I have not played previous Mount & Blade games but decided to try Bannerlord. I have been learning through trial and error but your video has taught me so much more that I'm missing and this would make playing the game a lot more interesting and easier. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
One tip: You can talk to people in a city from outside it by clicking on them and clicking talk. This leaves you next to them inside the city when you finish the conversation, which can be a quick way to get to workshops. Another tip: If you can't upgrade a bandit troop any more because you don't have the disciplinarian perk, put those troops in a castle/city garrison. The castle/city can upgrade bandit troops, though I don't know if this requires at least level 1 training barracks.
1. you can skill up charm very fast just talking to each noble on your way and giving them 1 gold 2. not jailing every vassal after fight will skill up your charming and increase realtionship with their clan 3. trade skill increase by trading goods at cities which are rumored 4. you actualy can train low-level retines with high-level if you designate a special group of low-level retines and set only them to charge 5. you can earn some renown by dueling band bosses in their shelters 6. if there is no tournament in city and around, just ask the arena master where is the nearest tournament and game will spawn 2 more tournament for you nearby 7. your "teammates" can join the tournament against you, so dont equip them with the best. Each culture has the own type of tournament, so if you want to skill up two-handed weapon - Battania is you choice 8. increase relation with settlements to unlock special forces recruit(Cataphract for empire) 9. regions with lack of horses usually need a mules too. 10. villages have constants prices in tradind updated: the order in the group list determines the order of entry into the battle
I watch all these tips and tricks as the game doesn't tell you a lot. 100hour in game 5 or 6 tips video and you guy showed me 3 new thing i can use. Great job thank you.
Credit where it's due, though. I half expected to school you on some details I keep seeing people miss, admittedly, but you covered it all quite well in the video and I was unaware of the banner editor
About the gang war battle , like you said is to gain reknown, but make sure you ask first who they work for. Each influentiable gang leader in x city allows you to recruit a certain type of soldiers, so pick up the worst one and keep attacking him to improve the relationship with the others. For example 1 dude only allows you to recruit fresh tier 1 soldiers like imperial recruits but others have a better pool of soldiers like archers , veteran soldiers , infrantyman, etc. So from time to time attack his gang and you will be able to recruit better units from the others About the workshop , make sure you build one in a city you won't conquer later, you will lose the ownership and you will have to rebuy it
Did you know: prices in villages don't change as you buy / sell items there. I sometimes use this to sell items at a fixed high price. All villages linked to the same city / castle will have the same price for it. Sell the items to the city though and the price in the village will also change. This is usefull for the early game seeing as most villages only have about 1000 gold to spend.
Oh and another tip regarding the +10 cohesion thing. If your army consists only of clan members (Companions, family) it cost 0 influence, so you can keep the army together indefinitely.
THANK YOU FOR THIS my god some things I just missed till now thankyou especially for the Cohesion thing, I used to just keep adding lords to my party to improve it didnt know you could click on the +10
If you have a companion thats got defeated/escaped captive and staying at a far away town from you. Appoint them as governor, then go to your town hall and take them back into your party. Saves the hassle of travelling to get them back.
As of april 16. - You can sell to caravans repeatedly, their gold just refills when you leave the trade screen. AND IT DOESNT LOWER THE PRICE every time. - Your assigned groups reset to default groups every time you reload a game. - Blunt weapons still don't kill, they just knock people out.
Y'know most "Things you didn't know you could do in (blank)" sorta videos always annoy me as they have pretty basic stuff everyone knows but this is honestly the first video about things you can do in games that I actually learnt something lol
God bless you for the butchering tip, I had no idea you could butcher horses, that helps immensely when you're riding in someone's army but you're running out of food with not enough time or locations to buy more from
It's why hogs are worth buying imo. They don't use up your weight limit for loot and they're a source of food. Sheep are usually worth a little more to sell on, rarely worth butchering unless you're starving. Don't think I would butcher horses much, they're too valuable to be turned into meat. But I suppose the option is there.
PRO TRADER TIP: If you find a good selling price in a city just wait itfront it gates for the next caravan. You can sell your goods to the caravan for a constant price.
9:34 Did you know that you can put your siege engines in reserve to stop them being immediately destroyed? No I did not. That's F#@%ing AMAZING. Thank you!!
Very good tips, I am relatively new to game just managed to get my first castle. But I restart game to try different factions, and learn more and more. Need to start creating more parties, I did one but my guy got kidnapped by Bandits lol.
i knew almost all of it... what i didn't knew was the horses going sideways i was expecting for emotes(yelling,dancing,battlecry,gesture)... i guess i need to wait for modders to do it
395 hours played and there was still a good few points in there that i had completely missed lol TY great job ( the reserve siege one especially made a Fek of a difference :) )
Your steward skills isn't what's leveled from autoresolving battles, your tactics skill is. If you just read the description for each skill in full, it tells you exactly how to level up each skill.
As for bandit hideouts, troops towards the top have a better, but not 100% chance of entering the hideout with you. That's why you will normally see companions, but the troops are more varied as you go further down the party list. Or as always, there's a mod that fixes this. A few actually.
Hey you said you can train bandits under the rotary skill but I'm pretty sure it's the leadership skill that gives you discipline perk which allows you to upgrade bandits front bandits to regular troops.

They'll fall easy and quicker. And hey, if you're good at charging and not dying, go by yourself to the enemies and slice down a couple before going back to your men to help defend.
Great refresher! I've had to learn these the hard way while in my warband run around 6 years ago. It's a great "Oh right! I forgot!" moments.
This was actually immensely helpful, I wasn't aware of most of these things
Thanks man
I would kiss you if I could. I have not played previous Mount & Blade games but decided to try Bannerlord. I have been learning through trial and error but your video has taught me so much more that I'm missing and this would make playing the game a lot more interesting and easier. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
😘
One tip: You can talk to people in a city from outside it by clicking on them and clicking talk. This leaves you next to them inside the city when you finish the conversation, which can be a quick way to get to workshops.
Another tip: If you can't upgrade a bandit troop any more because you don't have the disciplinarian perk, put those troops in a castle/city garrison. The castle/city can upgrade bandit troops, though I don't know if this requires at least level 1 training barracks.
1. you can skill up charm very fast just talking to each noble on your way and giving them 1 gold
2. not jailing every vassal after fight will skill up your charming and increase realtionship with their clan
3. trade skill increase by trading goods at cities which are rumored
4. you actualy can train low-level retines with high-level if you designate a special group of low-level retines and set only them to charge
5. you can earn some renown by dueling band bosses in their shelters
6. if there is no tournament in city and around, just ask the arena master where is the nearest tournament and game will spawn 2 more tournament for you nearby
7. your "teammates" can join the tournament against you, so dont equip them with the best. Each culture has the own type of tournament, so if you want to skill up two-handed weapon - Battania is you choice
8. increase relation with settlements to unlock special forces recruit(Cataphract for empire)
9. regions with lack of horses usually need a mules too.
10. villages have constants prices in tradind
updated:
the order in the group list determines the order of entry into the battle
I can tell you thoroughly checked out what others had shared so far. Then hand picked these hidden gems, amazing work!
Using army influence for cohesion and setting siege weapons in reserve is a game changer.
So fast paced and full of usefull information. I liked the video
I watch all these tips and tricks as the game doesn't tell you a lot. 100hour in game 5 or 6 tips video and you guy showed me 3 new thing i can use. Great job thank you.
Simply the best bannerlord video I’ve see . Straight to the point, and highly informative.
So from time to time attack his gang and you will be able to recruit better units from the others
About the workshop , make sure you build one in a city you won't conquer later, you will lose the ownership and you will have to rebuy it
Have over 1000 hours in warband and easily 30 in bannerlord, yet half of this stuff was totally new for me. Thanks man!
Loved the video! Very helpful indeed!
Wow, in the middle of my second campaign and there are so many useful and new tips I had no idea about!
Liked and subbed nice video. Early congrats on 80k subs lol 79.9k right now
If you use the circle formation you can click and drag to determine the size of the circle
Oh and another tip regarding the +10 cohesion thing. If your army consists only of clan members (Companions, family) it cost 0 influence, so you can keep the army together indefinitely.
Thanks for the video! Lots of great info here and further proof on how much depth there is to this game.
More Bannerlord Videos please, this one was great! Thank you!
Bless you sir
Great tips, just found out that you can right shift click to sell/buy a whole stack instead of 5 per click using the left shift.
Learned quite a few things...doing a video myself this wknd and this helped alot!
“Troops collectively share xp” huh didn’t know we were fighting the tsars in Russia
The tsars werent communist . The communist killed the last tsar Nicolas II
THANK YOU FOR THIS my god some things I just missed till now thankyou especially for the Cohesion thing, I used to just keep adding lords to my party to improve it didnt know you could click on the +10
Disciplinarian (to upgrade bandit types) is in the Leadership skill.
40 hours of gameplay and I didn't know half of these. Thanks
Holy crap truly mind blowing and this is coming from warband vet I knew some of them but the ALT used to be TAB and strafing!
did you know im in love with RepublicOfPlay
Very nice, I was actually surprised I didn’t know some of this stuff!
very informative, short, simple and to the point, excellent video, and even taught me a few new hotkeys I didn't know already!
Some great tips that I didn't know, the siege equipment tip was very helpful. cheers..
best explanation, fast, easy, and not a clickbait. thanks. Here is a like
I flipped back and forth during this video with "OOH THATS SO COOL" to "WTF WHY DIDNT I KNOW THAT"
I did know everything.. BUT for the siege equipment reserve.
Liked and subbed just for that one game changer tip.
Holy shit, this was beyond informative. I thought i knew Bannerlord, but i did not. Great job.
I’m so glad you mentioned that key without a name because I know exactly what key you’re talking about 😂
Auto resolving levels tactics, not stewardship.
You need a perk in leadership, not roguery to upgrade bandit troops to regular troops.
yup. you need the disciplinarian perk in leadership. It takes forever to unlock. (there's a mod that fixes it)
@@ThatFilmisGnarly its not broken
Did you know that your horsemen will find new horses to mount if their original horse dies? They'll even grab formerly enemy horses.
Yeah, folks will do that in tournaments as well. Very neat mechanic.
One other tip is that you can retreat in battles and fight again this makes it easier to just pelt enemies with arrows then fight again after.
If you have a companion thats got defeated/escaped captive and staying at a far away town from you. Appoint them as governor, then go to your town hall and take them back into your party. Saves the hassle of travelling to get them back.
High quality content mate. Keep it up. You just earned my sub. Looking forward for more bannerlord videos.
Great video man,its nice that you let people know about all these things.cheers!
@@Madhattersinjeans Yeah I just didn't know you could butcher horses too
I've played bannerlord over 100 hours a year ago this video would have been a miracle for me but even now I didn't know half of it thx, ❤️
Very helpful, thank you.
And please do more as the game is updated.
This was the best tips and tricks video I've seen so far ...I had NO idea on the troops sharing xP
PRO TRADER TIP: If you find a good selling price in a city just wait itfront it gates for the next caravan. You can sell your goods to the caravan for a constant price.
Wow, I thought I was a seasoned player, this tip just put me on a amateur scale. Thanks for the video!
A lot of useful tips, man! I appreciate the help!
So useful, thank you so very much for making this. There is so much the game does not show you that this video did.
i knew almost all of it... what i didn't knew was the horses going sideways
i was expecting for emotes(yelling,dancing,battlecry,gesture)... i guess i need to wait for modders to do it
FINALLY ! Some good tips and tricks that arent obvious in the game THX !
Thanks for the great tips! :) Didn't know quite a few, although have been playing the game since launch.
Add to army cohesion ! Great tip
Thanks man! Best Tips, Tricks and How to Bannerlord Video!
Did not know about the horse strafing cheers brother!
I appreciate the relative complexity in coding some of these game mechanics. Props to the devs.
