Great Job MDB! Apologies for not making you aware from the jump, I guess we assumed you knew from the note on our listing about the international fitment, that is our bad. International customers that don't want to mess with the gaskets can use one of our aftermarket headers and then the fit is perfect without the gaskets or they can reuse the gaskets which is a little more arduous process, but kudos to you for figuring it out and getting it done. Appreciate the video and love seeing the smile on your face when riding at the end, its our favorite part of the whole process!
When you do things yourself, you learn lessons sometimes and I’m really happy that you’re not afraid to show that when you make a mistake you made a mistake and you explain it. Thank you. I appreciate that.
Don't be so conscious of haters. At one point or another we were all beginners learning to do stuff. I'd sooner respect someone for trying and failing than not trying at all. Big props and keep going forward!
Most motorcyclists only clean their bikes, very few have the courage to tinker with their bikes. You have to make mistakes, because you learn from mistakes. The only way. Please make more of this content, it is educational and interesting to watch.
Danny no rookie errors here mate, we all were rookies when we changed our slip ons and forgot the clamps or stripped the threads or broke the rear bolts...it's how you learn from errors you make. Bike looks great along with the pipes. Cannot wait for your next adventure ..take care mate!
As a pen pusher myself, wrenching on my own bikes, mistakes, learning, pharking up and having to redo is all par for the course, but then you’ve done it yourself, and you know it’s done right. There are millions of us who would have gone, yep done that, done that too. Great vid.
Don't be too hard on yourself mate, good on you for giving it a go. "The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried." - Stephen McCranie
Having fitted many slip-ons to HD's I can say yours looks like a pretty familiar experience. Some need gaskets, some don't, some slip straight on, some need a bit of 'encouragement'. Good on you for doing it yourself! Looks great, sounds amazing.
Good on you for throwing some spanners around. Most of us aren’t mechanics but it’s the joy of when it all just works and the thrill of the challenge. 👍👍
Danny, I will not pamper around as many. You did good job. Just advice, when you are doing jobs like this, take Pic before disassembling. It helps. Clamp is mounted upside down, that is why it is sticking out. You have to turn it so bolt is facing you. Once the bolt is facing you, push it all the way under, so it is not visible. Stay safe mate
Your having a go, Danny, and everyone had to start somewhere. Keep up the good work. After all, a man that hasnt made a mistake, hasnt made anything!!!
I put new slip_ons on my stock untouched Road King. There were no gaskets there. I watched the videos too and didn't see any either. Keep on doing what you can to your bike, That's how we learn buddy. You get a good sense of accomplishment. Cheers
Good for you wrenching on your bike. I live in America and nobody wrenches on my bike. I have a 21 RGS and im running Tabs 50 cals with Zombie baffels, catless head pipe, and powervision tuner. Bike sounds awesome and really rips. Also reccomend doing the DK customs oil catch can off the breather bolts to keep that oil out of your cylinders. Crappy Harley design there which builds up damaging carbon on top of the pistons very quickly. Happy wrenching mate.
I had to smile Danny, this was a carbon copy of my weekend. Putting some V&H torquer 450s on my RKS. Like you watched just about every video on the subject, nobody used gaskets. Thought this seems easy enough. nothing ever seems as easy as you think! A trip to my nearest HD dealer and all now good. I could’ve done with your video a fortnight ago 😉.
That was hard to watch, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I wanted to jump in and help you out. Good on you for having a go because it’s the best way to learn and to get to know your way around your bike which makes it easier if something happens out on the road somewhere.
They sound much better than those "Screamin" eagles... Gaskets are a PITA. I did the pipes on my Sportster 48, and 1 of the original HD gaskets, was welded in, after just 300 miles on the bike. Had to slowly pick away at it and with nothing abrasive or sharp, to not damage the exhaust ports. Got there in the end, but exhausts are never fun to take off and replace, at least for a DIY job, always something super tight or wont fit back easily. The HD mounting bracket on a Sportster is a ton of fun to remove, super tight and plenty of other non-exhaust parts to remove to get it done.
Everything ive done on my Softail Deuce has been via trial and error, but, its all been done on my own. As long as you remember the mistakes you made, and don't make them again, thats progress!! We weren't born with motorcycle mechanic knowledge!
I don’t think anybody’s gonna make fun of you learning, but you should’ve known you tore that all apart and you had to buy a new one, but I just like seeing a rich man work on his motorcycles cause most of them just take them to shops and you do too, but I’m glad you’re working on your bikemakes you feel good after you. You know you know you did that and you’re gonna learn. This is how you learn you think everybody knows everything they learn by watching RUclips videos or doing it their selves think it’s funny that you forgot it gonna slow down and take your time.
Made exactly the same mistake myself when I changed my first set of pipes, and then I messed the second set of gaskets up as the ends had closed in on the new pipes . I always order gaskets now as dealers are never sure if they will fit with or without the gaskets :)
Hey Danny good job just wanted to say if you use a soft peice of wood wraped in a microfiber cloth you can light hit with with a hammer and the metho was okay but there a cheep product Bunnings sell lots of different brands but it's a oil grease and wax remover spray painters use it to remove every thing including fingerpiints before spraing anyway good on you i think you did a good just wanted to give some freindly advise hope it help with future works you might do.
You get a great sense of accomplishment when you do your own work and learn from your mistakes. Also part of the Harley experience is wrenching, learning and sharing that knowledge, which is exactly what you're doing with this video. On that note get a can of WD40 for that can of WD40😅 and a decent set of tools.
Great job! And that’s why I like your channel! No one is perfect and you show us that to error is human. The ups and downs it’s all good baby. Great video
Good job Danny for having the courage to give it a go. It was a little painful to watch you beat that gasket with a metal hammer but can't deny the end result. I like to black chrome look of the TAB pipes a lot better.
First video.... thank you for being honest and showing all the mishaps that can happ3n doing things yourself. Hell I am glad I stayed away from the CVO . You would think all that extra cash those Screaming Eagles would truly be SCREAMING! How disappointing there. You gained a subscriber my man. Thanks again.
I checked the price of the Zombie mufflers. They came in at $2337. Not too bad if you have a lazy couple of thousand floating around. They do sound much nicer and look better as well. So it's a win-win. One change I'd make to the bike though is to colour match the front mudguard to the fairing. Well done, Daniel. ✌
Hi Danny, I want to thank you for your video. Showing your mistakes definitely helped me avoid making the same ones😊. Your video was very helpful to me! Thanks again!
I never realized the CVO ST even had that gasket in there, my '24 RG Standard didn't. I just bought a CVO ST and plan to put Rinehart Mufflers on tomorrow, thanks for the heads up.
Good attempt Danny, love the channel name - do more, it's how you learn. You'd need to invest a good rubber mallet to prevent any damage. Fitting slip ons today be wrenching fir the rest of your days!
I had the same issue, (also a pencil pusher) so you're not being stupid. I put on some S&S mufflers (the TAB are not available in the Netherlands) and had to buy some new gaskets and had to ask for my sons help to get the right side back on again since it was so difficult. And yes, I had to pull the left side back a little to get them flush....
Everyone learns by doing. Everyone learns from their mistakes. My advice, in regards to the clamps is, always take a picture prior to disassembly to recall positions of things.
Please cut Danny some slack, he just came of a 6 month depression period and a manic Gibbs river adventure. He will explain his situation in due time. Looking forward to more videos and adventures. Stay strong Danny. All the best to you.
Well that’s definitely interesting. I wonder if it’s just that bike that has a gasket like that. I love tab performance i have their bam stick along with their 2-1-2 head pipe on my 22 EGS good job and great choice on ✌🏽😎
You learn by doing I do the same thing. But to turn the muffler put half of the hanger on it with that half inch bolt and use it as a fulcrum on the side which gives you force to turn it back and forth to get it on the header.
Sounds awesome!!! A bit jealous as they are illegal over here (and they’ll fine you and you can not continue your ride 🤬🙄). They look and sound great, enjoy!
Danny, you love ya harleys, what about a state by state visit to each one. Talk to the staff show the stock etc. There's 12 in vic but only seen you at 2. Showcase the dealers and the town. Then u can do the other states. That will keep u on the road for a few weeks.
Well you want the hanger to be in the center so when the motor moves it kind of slides back and forth in a little hanger so you want it to be equal and both ends and of course you want the end of the mufflers to look good too or equal
Good for you !!!! Doing it yourself is the only way to learn. By the way, you can use a socket wrench to tighten the heat shields easier and tighter instead of a screw driver. Ride on !!!
Those SE are the best stock pipes for sound on a HD I’ve seen. Not so quiet but not too loud either. Those TAB’s look very nice. I’m glad you did this all in one video so we could see and hear the results. Working on my own machine can be frustrating but also therapeutic. I do the same shit with mine..missed this, forgot that , so on..
Good job Danny ! Your video reminded me of when I was installing my Cobra Neighbor Hatters on my 23 RGS. It’s not as easy as it seems but it’s fun to do yourself and manageable. Your ST sounds amazing.
Well done Danny. Looks and sounds amazing. You’ve caught the Mechanic bug wait till you start fixing every single thing. The more you have a go, the more you understand ,the more you learn. I could practically do every single thing to my Bike now. Soon you’ll have your friends knocking on your door for work on their bikes 😂
Im not really into the harly thing though I would like a K model, but its good to see you doing stuff . More power to you. Errors are a way we learn and you just keep having a go at things. Well done. I have made a few errors in realestate development and there way bigger , but that's life. No guts, no glory.
100% agree with you, I had exactly the same issue when I did mine & never saw anyone else’s RUclips post showing the exhaust gaskets ! & they’re a pain in the ass 😂
Well done Danny, a bit of hands on with simple stuff is good. Mate that's a great bike and the pipes just add a classy touch. Wrapped to see you vlogging again, look forward to watching some long haul on the CVO ST..... Ride on 👊😎👊
wrenching is the only way to learn Danny. I'm a firm believer in doing it yourself, and when you break it, you have to figure out how to correct that and the original problem. School of Hard Knox!
Danny I done exactly the same, but wrecked two sets of gaskets so gave it to a dealership. The videos of fitting mufflers are American which don’t need the gaskets
I’ve done pipes on every Ultra I’ve had since 1990 and none have that gasket. My latest is a 2012, so they may have changed something. Btw, a good hammer and a 2x4 to pound the muffler in works great.
Big props for working on your own bike. It can definitely be a love-hate thing. I want these for my black CVO but without extended saddle bags that bulge at the end being visible bothers me and they only offer that finish in the 50 cal mufflers. Congratulations again
Great vid mate, just a tip when working on your bike doing anything, cover the nice shiny bits with a towel or something to avoid scratches, and keep a rubber mat under the bike .. great effort
Hey Danny, welcome to the Tab 50Cal club!! I’m in Brisbane and fitted the Tab 50Cal to my 2022 RGS a few years ago from George in Melbourne who is the only seller of Tabs in Australia (quick shout out)and he is awesome. Not too many of us down under who run them either. Don’t be disappointed with that exhaust gasket as I’ve never seen one of those before so they must just be on the new CVO ST models. Anyway bike looks and sounds awesome, enjoy brother 😎👍
Great video! I loved the total honesty!!! That & the world's largest flat head screw driver lol The new camera stabiliser is awful compared to your gopros, tough to watch while your carrying it around.
If you wanted to you could take the bolt out of that clamp and spread it open and pry it off. Once off pry open a little more and put back on the way you want. then squeeze the clamp closed again with some channel lock plyers and put the bolt back in. It might scratch the finish on the pipe but its out of sight. 👍
You can not learn unless you do it. Nothing wrong from watching others do it cause you gain two things knowledge on it is done and knowledge on mistakes that other run into that you can avoid. Future recommendations maybe keep a piece of 2x4 and a rubber mallet or even a dead blow.
Wow! That Harley Davidson is so power that the whole bike shakes, both at an idle and when you Rev it up . You need the Jekill & Hyde exhaust that has 3 modes at the press of a button quiet, media and Loud.
Danny if you are going to continue doing this stuff. You need a larger variety of hammers a dead blow would have worked great for this. Or a block of wood which won’t hurt your pipe you can hit that with any hammer
Great video. The gaskets are only on bikes in Australia, England, HDI, Japan, China that's why you haven't seen it on many videos. Keep wrenching and take care.
Never seen that gasket either. I’ve changed at least 10 different exhaust. Weird! Get rid of that trash and get 2 into 1 exhaust. It makes tire changes much easier also.
Wise words.
Glad you showed the struggles. Most channels just do before and afters or are mechanics who seem to have no issues.
You’ve probably gave a heap of people a heads up on do’s and don’t now. Nothing more satisfying than completing your work.
Having fitted many slip-ons to HD's I can say yours looks like a pretty familiar experience. Some need gaskets, some don't, some slip straight on, some need a bit of 'encouragement'. Good on you for doing it yourself! Looks great, sounds amazing.
Good on you Danny for having a go yourself. I work on all my bikes, and you really do get a lot of satisfaction from it.
Good on you for throwing some spanners around. Most of us aren’t mechanics but it’s the joy of when it all just works and the thrill of the challenge. 👍👍
So glad you brought the MDB name back
Danny,
I will not pamper around as many. You did good job. Just advice, when you are doing jobs like this, take Pic before disassembling. It helps.

absolutely love your resolve to get it done yourself. It was a struggle and you showed what a true fighter you are. Love it.

I could’ve done with your video a fortnight ago 😉.
Don’t let people criticize you. You are doing something constructive. Mistakes are how we learn. It sounds good 👍🏽
We love working on our bikes, despite the bugger ups! Such a sense of achievement! Good on ya, Danny 🤩
That was hard to watch, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I wanted to jump in and help you out. Good on you for having a go because it’s the best way to learn and to get to know your way around your bike which makes it easier if something happens out on the road somewhere.
Good on ya ,half the fun is doing your self, I have to do things myself to learn, and the best tool is RUclips for a double check 👌👌👌
They sound much better than those "Screamin" eagles...

Hey Danny, done well mate.. good thing is that you show everything, most wouldn’t.. I too in the past have damaged the gasket 👌

Tabs are awesome. Damn it, that's it, I'm going to pick up the CVO on Tuesday. You're costing me money Danny.
Great job! And that’s why I like your channel!
No one is perfect and you show us that to error is human.
The ups and downs it’s all good baby.
Great video
You are a genuine, certified ENGINEER Danny. Good on ya mate👍
Good job Danny for having the courage to give it a go. It was a little painful to watch you beat that gasket with a metal hammer but can't deny the end result. I like to black chrome look of the TAB pipes a lot better.
Nice pipes, loving the videos getting closer to being a HD certified mechanic it’s always satisfying doing a little work on your bike you’re self.
First video.... thank you for being honest and showing all the mishaps that can happ3n doing things yourself. Hell I am glad I stayed away from the CVO . Well, said Danny, everybody learns your perseverance, and your dedication is very strong. You have a lot of zeal.
The wood warms you twice as much when you cut it yourself.
Thanks for sharing this adventure and hope you are doing ok.
Hi Danny, I want to thank you for your video. Showing your mistakes definitely helped me avoid making the same ones😊. Your video was very helpful to me! Thanks again!
Looks better and sounds a million times better 🎉
I never realized the CVO ST even had that gasket in there, my '24 RG Standard didn't. I just bought a CVO ST and plan to put Rinehart Mufflers on tomorrow, thanks for the heads up.
My CVO ST doesn't use the gasket/spacers like yours, that must be something used overseas?
No worries, bud you’re doing a great job. That’s what I’m talking about. Don’t get frustrated and just keep plowing forward.
Good attempt Danny, love the channel name - do more, it's how you learn. You'd need to invest a good rubber mallet to prevent any damage. Fitting slip ons today be wrenching fir the rest of your days!
Choice, 👍👍 looks heaps better and love the sound. It's good how you put the raw stuff up. 👊😎👍
Swapped out stock slips for some remus on my Dyna and made most of the same mistakes 😅 don't sweat it Danny boy. Love they troosers btw ! 🏴
You just simply learn by doing… if you never try you never know!!! Good job Mr. D 👌🏼✌🏼
I had the same issue, (also a pencil pusher) so you're not being stupid. I put on some S&S mufflers (the TAB are not available in the Netherlands) and had to buy some new gaskets and had to ask for my sons help to get the right side back on again since it was so difficult. Hey..great to see you giving it ago yourself, also so much more enjoyable fitting parts to your own Harley..😊
You’re working on your motorcycle-that’s always awesome! No one that’s an adult will give you grief.
well done Danny ! not a spanner thrown in the process !:) im a chrome fan,my bikes like a glitterball, but i am actually loving that black chrome !!
Everyone learns by doing. Everyone learns from their mistakes. My advice, in regards to the clamps is, always take a picture prior to disassembly to recall positions of things.
Danny your kit would benefit with a rubber stripping mallet plus a block of hardwood (4 x 2 x 6in) for padding.👍
I think it's great that you're doing it yourself. I have the black model, and watching you is helpful when I tackle putting mine on.
Please cut Danny some slack, he just came of a 6 month depression period and a manic Gibbs river adventure.
He will explain his situation in due time.
Looking forward to more videos and adventures.
Stay strong Danny.
All the best to you.
As a driller once said, some people have too much self indulgence.
Looks great! Like any dyi jobs , not complete until redone 3 times , several trips to store and every tool you own is out
Well that’s definitely interesting. I wonder if it’s just that bike that has a gasket like that. I love tab performance i have their bam stick along with their 2-1-2 head pipe on my 22 EGS good job and great choice on ✌🏽😎
Mr Hayes, thanks for inspiring the rest of us “pencil pushers” to wrench our bikes. Good job!
You learn by doing I do the same thing. But to turn the muffler put half of the hanger on it with that half inch bolt and use it as a fulcrum on the side which gives you force to turn it back and forth to get it on the header.
That sound reminds me of Bullitt. Steve McQueens mustang sounded juat like it
Sounds awesome!!!
Pipes look awesome, keeps that factory look too. Nice choice 👌🏻👌🏻
Good to see you wrenching Danny. howver ive never seen slipons being so difficutt ,, keep at it bro,, learn by mistakes its the way forward.. respect
Well you want the hanger to be in the center so when the motor moves it kind of slides back and forth in a little hanger so you want it to be equal and both ends and of course you want the end of the mufflers to look good too or equal

I'm proud of you brother you did it next thing you know you'll be changing tires in Bolivia
Good job Danny !
Your video reminded me of when I was installing my Cobra Neighbor Hatters on my 23 RGS. It’s not as easy as it seems but it’s fun to do yourself and manageable.
Your ST sounds amazing.
Have you brushed Geelong Harley?
From one engineer to another engineer, great job mate
Well done Danny. Looks and sounds amazing.
You’ve caught the Mechanic bug wait till you start fixing every single thing. The more you have a go, the more you understand ,the more you learn. I could practically do every single thing to my Bike now. Soon you’ll have your friends knocking on your door for work on their bikes 😂
You did fine Danny. I found a rubber mallet give the right encouragement for the muffler to slide on the pipe.
Im not really into the harly thing though I would like a K model, but its good to see you doing stuff . More power to you. Errors are a way we learn and you just keep having a go at things. Well done. I have made a few errors in realestate development and there way bigger , but that's life. No guts, no glory.
What a difference! Sounds really deep 👌🏼 Next time you do it it’ll be dead easy 😉👍🏼
That’s the satisfaction of having your own bike Danny. You can work on it yourself. That’s your right you worked hard to buy it cheers mate.
100% agree with you, I had exactly the same issue when I did mine & never saw anyone else’s RUclips post showing the exhaust gaskets ! & they’re a pain in the ass 😂
So glad you went with TAB...I love mine and don't see many with them
Nice job Danny. I do all my own work and have these type of challeges all the time. lol. I have TAB and love them. Sounds awesome
Well done Danny, a bit of hands on with simple stuff is good. Mate that's a great bike and the pipes just add a classy touch. Wrapped to see you vlogging again, look forward to watching some long haul on the CVO ST..... Ride on
👊😎👊
wrenching is the only way to learn Danny. I'm a firm believer in doing it yourself, and when you break it, you have to figure out how to correct that and the original problem. School of Hard Knox!

Big props for working on your own bike. It can definitely be a love-hate thing. I want these for my black CVO but without extended saddle bags that bulge at the end being visible bothers me and they only offer that finish in the 50 cal mufflers. Congratulations again
TAB Zombies are SOLID. Liked them so much - I picked them up for my Road Glide and my wife’s Road King. Respectable GROWL…!!!
Big MDB for the new Geelong Harley Davison mechanic .I will vote for you.mate
Yes congratulations tab 50 cal all the way with tab header 100% I love mine
Where is colin
Great video! I loved the total honesty!!! That & the world's largest flat head screw driver lol
The new camera stabiliser is awful compared to your gopros, tough to watch while your carrying it around.
If you wanted to you could take the bolt out of that clamp and spread it open and pry it off. Once off pry open a little more and put back on the way you want. then squeeze the clamp closed again with some channel lock plyers and put the bolt back in. It might scratch the finish on the pipe but its out of sight. 👍
Good for you for giving it a go.
We have all been there.
Not sure if this is a good thing, but I'd probably done it the same way. Glad to see you wrenching on your own bike. Have fun!
