So I head back to Geelong Harley Davidson and we start to pull the bike apart so it can go to the paint shop - the new performance cam is installed ! and I try and fit in with the boys with my new hair cut. Unsure if the new paint will wreck the look of the low rider st el diablo or not ??

Always love the GHD content. I've never been a huge fan of Harley factory customs but the El Diablo is spot on. The paint is gorgeous. That's going to be a keeper when she's done.

Oil pump? Actually aren't you suppose to get rid of the chain drive and go back to the S&S gear set to get rid of the pesky high maintenance chain tensioner? (or was that only on the TC motors?) 🤔
@Frank Spinski I think they changed the tensioner material so it's not an issue like it was on the tc's. But am surprised they didn't upgrade the oil pump and cam plate while they were in there... Danny has spent $$$ already and wouldn't have been much more to do it while changing the cam.

It’s funny because I had 3 Harley’s (separately), most recent a ‘16 Street Glide, up until last year. I thought buying a ‘22 BMW Grand America that I would be happy… nope! It ended up with an oil leak and consuming (burning) oil with only 4K miles on it. So, I traded it in for a ‘23 Ultra Limited a few weeks ago, and couldn’t be happier! The M8 is an amazing engine! It even gives me more confidence after seeing what you put your Road Glide thru!!

My Sportglide is in the shop (10k service + waiting for tyres) So have a Low Rider ST as loaner.... Love the power of the 117 and gearbox is very smooth, but mid-controls and terrible seat don't sell it for me. But as suggested in the vid... I will be going from Stage1 to 2 at some point on my Sport Glide and that combined with comfy riding position and seat. Win win... :)
Yeah, I think the 117 needs to do more Kegel exercises, to tighten things up down under. If they only made it with a forward control option and a Saddlemen Explorer seat, that ST could be the bomb. I much prefer the torquey down low cam in my 107 Sport Glide vs having to twist up the ST throttle to get some, due to the racier cam in the 117.

Chevrolet Engineer Zoros Arkov Duntov.. cam up with a cam grind called the 30 30 cam in the 1950's or so .. for the Small Block Chevy Corvette. Other Engineers said that cam grind would not work. I guess it worked pretty well because it was a very popular cam among the hot Roders. I read what was unique about that cam but I fogort the details .. It had to do with timing and overlap of course..

It's a Flex-Hone... I know, I worked for the owner in the 1980's. Nothing's been in more holes of various sizes than a Flex-Hone. Chicks dig them!

Jesus, Webby, you never put a new cam in without annealing it first. Rookie move. : ) Having to take the entire rocker box assembly off to get to the that one small part Danny wants to paint would be annoying. Danny's paying by the hour, so I guess it's all good. I loved when they all cheered because Danny said he was leaving, and he tried to say it was because they just sold a motorcycle.
Annealing the cam ! I guess I'm still a rookie from Knuckleheads to Big Block Chevys ?
@@kurtfoulke5130 Sounds like you know what you're doing. Hopefully nobody takes me seriously and tries to anneal their cam. Webby said he loves all the youtube "mechanics" chiming in with comments about his work, so I was playing the part of keyboard mechanic that knows very little, which isn't much of a stretch for me. Although I do know what annealing means. Mainly with copper gaskets, right?
