- This is the spectacular looking (and sounding!!) BMW 340i E30 of Frantisek Gruner, one of the fastest and most unique machines coming from the Czech Republic hilllcimb scene. Powered by a S62 engine in 4.4L V8 Naturally Aspirated form and pumping out around 470Hp/8.000Rpm, this Rear Wheel Drive widebodied Monster weighs only 1070Kg making quite the capable competitor. Still fighting some development issues, here we can see it, both inside and out, tackling the iconic Ecce Homo Sternberk Hillclimb earlier this year. And it already is quite impressive to behold... We are eagerly awaiting what comes next year...

great drive, but the sound of that engine is the real star

The overall stability but especially under heavy braking is amazing. Congrats on a unique and outstanding machine!

I am absolutely melting right now. That S63 4.4L V8 just sounded so good. When it would do the chase view as it drove by, I couldn't help it and say it sounds like a Subaru, a really nasty one at that. Im keeping this tucked away and saved. This was exquisite, just beautiful!

@@toxicmasculinity7870 Well put it this way, if this built block was in a Hatchback WRX/STI. It's essentially almost untouchable on the track, Maybe with a 40mm Single turbo and SEQ gearbox 8spd. Dude you couldn't tell the difference in sound and the experience would be magical. Lol I hope that's enough to forgive me completely.

I think I've found my 2nd favorite bmw after the time attack z4
S62 was the 5.0L V8 from the e39 M5.
This sounds like a flat plane crank motor so if it is 4.4L it might be the P65B44.
Or its simply destroked that's why its only 4.4 instead of the original 4.9. the displacement decrease would also alle the engine to Rev Higher that's why its as 8k RPM instead of 6k in the original s62.
Sounds cross plane to me.
I would say destroked to 4.4 as ESOX 179 says maybe so that it complies with a certain class? 470bhp would be low output for P65 which are usually making over 500bhp (from what I have seen). Doesn't sound like P65 either which sound a bit less bass-ey than this and have a bit more of V-twin scream to them.

i would say, the v8 4l is too heavy for the chasi of the e30. A 6 cyl would fit much better

Toyota 1uz in NZ make more hp, better sound, faster rpm and more reliable. This engine sounds sluggish not a crisp response at all more like 320hp.
