Striezel (Hans Joachim Stuck) was driving F-1 in the 70s... And this video is from 2004. He was 53 years old at the time, and kicking the asses of much younger drivers. He was pretty good in Sportscars Group C (World Champion together with Derek Bell in 1985) as well plus him and Röhrl kicking Ami ass in TRANSAM and IMSA, but he's always been a legend in DTM (and other touring car championships), especially on the Nürburgring.
This is the perfect way to learn the track from someone whos done it longer than most yeah the M3 GTR isn't always available but generally the lines are the same weather it's a fiat 500 or a Mercedes racing truck
Everyone in the comments talking about how much of a legend Stuck was (and anyone who says otherwise is a twat) but I believe whoever the commentator was definitely deserves a crumb of respect as well.
This is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine but i sometimes i like to listen to the just the audio of this video while i close my eyes and pretend Hans Stuck is in the passenger seat training teaching me how to shred the Nurburgring.

Oh my, Hahaha. In the beginning he says "no hurry, I'm just warming the tires", yet he is already driving faster than I ever have. Amazing. Thanks for the ride along.
There's this incident of an R35 GT3 in the 24Hr race flew of the track the same way Peter Dumbreck in the Mercedes CLR has it in the 1991 Le Mans, unfortunately unlike the CLR, the R35 incident claimed the life of a spectator, whose damn young to go that soon. That incident with the R35 GT3 is the reason the tracks were less bumpy than before, imo this is not the R35 drivers fault
Gotta warm up tires and engine... *passes four cars, flogs engine, keeps calmly talking turn by turn* Badassery only known to select few nordschleife legends. Sabine Schmidt's(?) Was my first intro to proper badass driving through Too Gear and the Van challenge. I still rec9gnize Hans, just don't know enough yet. The Nordschleife will beat me until I die, but that wont stop me from playing grab turismo.
Stay OFF the Kerbs and you will come home WITH your car. I did it in 2016, use your mirrors ALOT! faster cars will pass on the Left(German Highway laws apply on the Ring) and Don't chase the 10 minute lap(Holy Grail for most petrol heads).
Every single corner he knows the braking point, the turn in point, what its like in the wet, when its dry, the name of the corner, how much throttle... a master
I just want to say these older videos that had cameras with mics that picked up everything really let you hear all the wind noise that you get in these cars. My point being that while gran turismo has exaggerated that wind noise and slip stream effect it really is the only series that puts it into the game. When he was on the straight there was a stark difference between him coming up behind that car and when he zipped around. The wind noise was almost non existent from quite a distance behind then he went around and you could hear all that wind again. It's quite interesting to me.

God that transmission whine is crazy. Gives me shivers every time
He's a great driver but a great commentator also!
I remember timing this once for just the nord section and getting around a 6:45...which would make this quicker than the Zonda R
I got 6:53.21
This is the perfect way to learn the track from someone whos done it longer than most yeah the M3 GTR isn't always available but generally the lines are the same weather it's a fiat 500 or a Mercedes racing truck
9:46 "and shortly before, pull out!" Reminds me of sex education with my dad
"Niki Lauda Memorial Corner" obviously a tongue-in-cheek joke back when, but it hits different now since 2019. RIP Niki (and Sabine).
Well Niki _nearly_ died - horribly - there.
@@raffriff42 Yeah I know, hence the tongie-in-cheek vibe of the joke name.
Just sucks he's gone now.
I’ve watched this dozens of times. Still get goosebumps.
That not Hans that a Razor NFSMW
Damn!! The downshifts at 10:19
literally perfection
Perfect lap of the perfect driver for this perfect car for the perfect track !
This guy probably beat Mission 34 on his first try 😅
Everyone in the comments talking about how much of a legend Stuck was (and anyone who says otherwise is a twat) but I believe whoever the commentator was definitely deserves a crumb of respect as well.
Idk if you're trolling but it's literally stuck commentating himself lmao
This is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine but i sometimes i like to listen to the just the audio of this video while i close my eyes and pretend Hans Stuck is in the passenger seat training teaching me how to shred the Nurburgring.
Does it make 1000hp with that stock V8
Because I'm not hearing any turbos or supercharger only the sequential transmission and the raw engine
Hans was just kidding there. It has 500hp (maybe), not 1000.
Search this video's comments for "P60B40" for more info.

THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED VIDEO EVER!!! wondering how he did the record carrying a ton weighting couple of steel balls..
Mr Platon 91 that was almost a complete sentence
Oh my, Hahaha. In the beginning he says "no hurry, I'm just warming the tires", yet he is already driving faster than I ever have. Amazing. Thanks for the ride along.
A legendary car and a legendary driver!
This is my first time seeing an H-pattern sequential gearbox. Or is it? Great stuff!
I'm going with the theory that HJS misspoke himself. It's definitely an H-pattern, which by definition is not a sequential.
10:19 those downshifts..
i dont know gentleman's but the the car sound the guy sound and the transmission sound it just sound like a MUSIC TO MY EARS !!!
How that gearbox survived 24 hrs🙏🏻☠️
LEFT HANDER...RIGHT HANDER...LATE ON THE APEX...FULL ON THE THROTTLE!!!
Imagine being overtaken by god himself
Cant lie I admire this guy's driving skills and the car itself as a whole. I never can get over that whine that the gears make.
Hans “Never lift” Stuck
crazy how much the road surface changed over the years, the insane bumps are all almost completely gone.
That's a shame, those bumps should be protected as national treasures!
*passes four cars, flogs engine, keeps calmly talking turn by turn*
Badassery only known to select few nordschleife legends.
Sabine Schmidt's(?) Was my first intro to proper badass driving through Too Gear and the Van challenge.
I still rec9gnize Hans, just don't know enough yet.
The Nordschleife will beat me until I die, but that wont stop me from playing grab turismo.
The best helpful video for the nurburgring! I must memorise all of his commentaries on every corner.
Well, that's a lot ':D
You probably don't have the same car be careful :)
Stay OFF the Kerbs and you will come home WITH your car. I did it in 2016, use your mirrors ALOT! faster cars will pass on the Left(German Highway laws apply on the Ring) and Don't chase the 10 minute lap(Holy Grail for most petrol heads).
Hans-Joachim Stuck - "That's the part of the track that separates the boys from the girls"
Sabine Schmitz - "And I took that personally"
RIP :(
i almost find a brake pedal behind office chair when saw how he go 260 before slow corners, whooa, swearing )
Every single corner he knows the braking point, the turn in point, what its like in the wet, when its dry, the name of the corner, how much throttle... a master
What a fucking legend. You can hear passion in his voice
Roughly 6m45s lap of just the north loop. This M3 GTR along with those crazy revving BMW.WilliamsF1 engines of early 2000s made me a BMW fan for life
The only whining that Porshe will ever hear is the legendary sound of the straight cut sequential gearbox
I don't see how he gets stuck in this video
GET stuck? Hans was BORN Stuck!
@@raffriff42 oh lol
@@raffriff42 i thought it was a video of how he got stuck by hitting a wall with the m3 gtr
Lol, guess what, he's still stuck as a racing driver to this day in Blancpain GT2
After watching this, go and watch the on-board vid of the Porsche 919 Tribute record lap. It's like this video, but at almost 2x speed.
I did (thank you), and I think it's 100kph faster at every point on the track! What a car! …I didn't care for the video itself (cockpit cam too small)
@@raffriff42 I only wish we could somehow have Mr. Stuck narrate that Porsche video the same way he does here :D
Good ears! I never noticed that!
