Please condsider watching the whole video before you comment. The first half is getting the things i dont like out of the way. This is why discourse around this game is so toxic. I love this game and want to see it succeed. I'm saying making these microtransactions available are incentivising making the game worse. I don't understand why there's so much pushback on this video because I love this game and highly praise it in the end of the video. I just want the game to be better for everyone who plays and loves it just as I do.
It's a good game. I want it to succeed as well. However, I don't want the idea of micro transactions for in game consumables of a full priced game concept, to succeed.
Capcom actually has a great opportunity to do the right thing by their customers here.
I love the game too and intend to continue watching you.
Just trying to clear the misunderstanding of labelling them as pay to win when theyre not.
The fact they exist and will be purchased only incentivizes the behavior, fact. Not arguing that.
But please be truthful about the impact they actually have on the game and its design.
It isnt pay to win yet and I dont want it to ever be. But of you tell people they are then Capcom may as well make that part true.
@@TheMeanJoeGreen Let me just break this down very easily.
Each is one time purchase
You can earn more than what is sold in 3 hours.
You can lose all that you purchased literally in 5 minutes.
How is this pay to win.
Go on. Please explain.
@@TheMeanJoeGreen Pay to win would be Dragons Dogma 1 which sold weapons better than anything in the base game.
They sold an infinite ferrystone as part of a dlc pack.
If this was P2W you could buy infinite wakestones and either infinite ferrystones or an infinite version.
Thats pay to win..
Its not an opinion okay.
Pay to win is a factual business model.
@@TheMeanJoeGreen The P2W model allows players to gain significant in-game advantages through real-world purchases, often leading to a skewed gaming experience favouring paying players.Aug 14, 2023
Just one.
Its a genuine business model and practice.
Not an opinion.
Its whether it is or not based on criteria.
Explain how its pay to win.
This is the loosest definition of pay to win I have ever heard. I generally hate microtransactions but they are not predatory at all in this game. There is no in game advertisement, no in game cash shop, you have to go out of your way to buy these things and they are minimal benefits at best.
There is an online store option in the starting menu.
@@GeneralRubicon main menu, nowhere near the gameplay
@@LoudAngryJerk now that is crazy
I mean why would you literally pay to play the game you paid for less? I would not call it pay to win, this is a single player game, it would be pay to not play. And on pc one could just use cheat engine to get infinite RC and stones if that is how they want to have fun, it's a single player game so I won't judge
I really don't get it, I am around 50 hours in and almost done with my first walkthrough and got around 8k crystals, never needed to hire extremely high lvl pawn, it's a single player game, I don't get the aspect of p2w in single palyer games
I just want to pop in again and say I fully look forward to your next video and enjoy hearing your opinions amd viewpoints
And sorry for the discourse.
Just a little touchy about some topics being misrepresented.
Pay to win this isnt
Still can bash them for existing. The two arent exclusive
I`m absolutely Okay with the community doing pushback for MTX, that said, how about we start doing this to all companies and games instead of a selected few?
Capcom specifically been doing this since the original RE-5 release many years ago, all the Remakes, Monster Hunter, SF`s, and so on, Single Player games completed filled with MTX.
I have not seen a single reviewer talking trash about the RE4 Remake also being full of MTX including one that allows you to buy the infinite Ammo Typewriter Tommy Gun right from the start, and that is pay2win in a sense, but no, all I heard was "Masterpiece of a remake", I don`t like this hypocrisy at all.
Again, saying that I pushback with the simple fact that the game itself never pushes Ads for the "in-game store" while in-game, you have to go through Steam, PS, and Xbox stores to actually see those, AND, if you do wanna buy them, a warning message appears saying that the item is obtainable in-game.
It`s a choice, if you want to use a LvL 70 Pawn that will carry you all day, is up to you, nobody is forcing you to do anything, it`s a single-player game, and nobody cares if you "cheat" your way to the top, the game has MODS for God Sake.
How about we all stop buying games like Diablo IV, Madden, Battlefront, BF2042, FIFA, NBA2k, and COD every year before complaining about MTX on a single-player game that is 100% trying to get past a publisher demand (Capcom forces the developers to put MTX on their games) by putting useless broken MTX hidden in the store, we need to draw the line somewhere, but we are beyond the line of MTX on single player games, Horse Armor and WOW mounts is selling more than fully fledged AAA videogames, these things exist because dip$h1ts keep buying them, and everyone makes this a Drama just because it`s a recently release, you know what will happen next time? They`ll wait 3 months before adding the MTX on the store to avoid "reviewers and RUclipsrs" spreading misinformation and BS, and nothing will change.
OMG I’m so tired of hearing people talking about the micro transactions. If you want to spend your money, you can, if you don’t, you don’t have to. Who cares if it’s paid to win! it’s your experience and your experience only that you would be affecting. it’s not that big of a deal. There’s a plethora of games that are way more predatory and every p2w in multiplayer games! every purchasable item I have yet felt the need to buy, even if I needed a wakestone, I wouldn’t buy it. I would just load my last save and try to assess the situation differently.
I said this in the end of the video.
Exactly. Who cares ?
Selfish take
As long as you can play and win without micro transactions then I’m ok with it. With the performance issues are you on pc or ps5?
PC. I really didn't have that many issues to be honest. Just in vernworth
@@GeneralRubicon I’m on ps5 I really want this game. Thank you for your contribution. Just to be clear though pay to win is absurd
@@MissionCreep. How?
@@GeneralRubicon well it matters in pvp games, but if you just play the game and grind a bit how games are then your fine, but if someone wants to spend their money to save 10 priceless hours of their life to be able to fast travel then ok go for it. Pay to win only affects me in a pvp game. I wouldn’t ever pay extra for anything not even a skin. This game seems to be designed to explore so chumps losing out on that is kinda dumb sice that’s the developers intent. But they are like you want a cheat? Pay for it.. I haven’t played it but I want to and believe me I’m a grinder.
@MissionCreep. I'm saying that if games that make you pay for convenience items become more prevalent then convenience will in turn be sacrificed. It's the same thing as in the assassins creed games. You could either grind for hours and hours to progress the story or just buy an xp boost. It leads you to believe that the game would be more convenient if the MTX weren't there.
I feel like this has to be pointed out whenever I hear people say you can buy "portcrystals" and "wakestones" as mtx. The reality is that these mtx are sold as Steam DLC. Steam DLC can be bought ONCE, and then you own it. You cannot buy the same DLC over and over again.
What this means is that you can buy ONE portcrystal, and FIVE wakestones, because there are 5 separate DLC options for wakestones. That's it. You can't just keep buying portcrystals and wakestones. Same basically goes for RC...you can buy what is sold as DLC, and then you're done.
Also, is P2W really even relevant in an SP game?? I can go out right now and mod my DD2 with basically infinite ferrystones, and I remember there was a famous Sekiro mod that made the game easier...is this some kind of travesty? Who cares if someone else cheats in an SP game?
All of this said, MTX like this are bad, I'm not defending them. All I'm saying is that they really aren't AS bad as a lot of people are making them out to be. All they really are is a very slight addition to what the Deluxe Edition of the game already gives you.
You can still buy them though. Any game that adds pay to win MTX will then be incentivised to include inconveniences in the game. It's just how it works. There's a reason the tent they sell in the store only ways 5kg.
MTX Like this are really as bad as people say they are. Do you believe for a second that if everyone was just happy with them and provided no backlash that Capcom wouldn't push the envelope even further? Their MTX consumables alone should disqualify them from even being considered for GOTY and I hope their reviews stay negative. Capcom needs to be brought to believe that they could make more money from not trying to add MTX consumables into a full priced game.
And how is it relevant ? Who did You win over ? Should we ban RUclips videos covering game mechanics and tips or guides ? As they make it much easier, if not - in case of puzzle based games win the game for You ?@@GeneralRubicon
@OtakU69YakuzA do you have to pay to watch a youtube video? What is this take? Please watch the whole video before commenting.
@@GeneralRubiconthey definitely are not pay to win in any sense of the word. Pay to win implies you NEED to buy them to finish the game properly, which you don't, far from it.
I hired a level 56 pawn when I was level 12 for free by just using a forgotten Rift stone.
Yeah I can see that. I can also see people spending alot of money to get high level pawns at a low level
@@GeneralRubicon Even with Rift Crystals, you can only search for pawns 15 levels higher than you.
The only way to get a particularly high level pawn is to add the owner as a friend, at which point you get that pawn for free anyways.
@@Dusty_989 still. 15 levels is an insane advantage at low levels.
@@GeneralRubicon But so is someone just giving you end game gear. Which is free.
I gave my level 17 friend gear from post game for both him and his pawn.
When I have duplicate gear, I just go into the Rift and randomly hire and equip low level pawns and dismiss them. (You can also see the pawns owner if you want to gift them better gear)
The game is surprisingly social for a game with no Co-op.
PS: There are at least 2 side quests that can be completly ruined by having high level pawns in your party.
You can sit there and shield your whole party pretty much infinitely with spear hand. You can’t attack because you have to spam the shield bubble every few seconds but your practically invincible.
Mystic spearhand was insanely good and fun to play.
Its not pay to win, its a convenience. You can find everything in the game for free, but for those of us with a full time job and not a lot of free time, these are nice to have. Its a single player game, stop your complaining about completely optional things. The performance is horrible in cities, that's spot on... Its a CPU issue dealing with NPCs, its not GPU related.
Watch the conclusion of the video.
@@GeneralRubicon bro, the comment is for most of the crying reviews on steam and the junk I'm seeing on RUclips, not directed at you.
@@youhavetoguessit I don't understand why this video is getting so much pushback. I highly praised the game in the last part.
@@GeneralRubicon people are impatient, my dude. If you put a bunch of negative stuff in the start and all the positive stuff way late, they just assume and down vote. Maybe try to bring that positivity first, then the negative stuff after? I dunno, I'm not a content creator xD but hopefully that feedback helps.
It wouldn't have mattered either way. If I would've put positivity in the beginning I would've recieved hate for liking a game full of MTX. And you see what happened the other way. Damned if you do damned if you don't. I at least appreciate you responding in good faith.
Honestly if I went around with higher level pawns, it would make the game too easy and boring. In fact, I was on such a long journey once that I had a pawn with me that ended up 10 levels beneath me by the end. Also as long as you use good strats, a well rounded party, have properly camped, and don't bite off more than you can chew before you can chew it, then you shouldn't need wakestones either. With that all said, I don't think the micro-transactions are necessary, but I do like that people are putting up a fight, because I do want companies to steer away from putting them in future games, because of all of the flack they caught before.
Thank you! It sucks the fun out of the game if you buy MTX
Capcom forces game director (who for over a decade has been very vocally against mtx) to include them in his game, SO he sucks for being proud of a game that rewards travel instead of convenience? What a horrible take.
That's not what I said. I said it sucks if he added it after his comments or if the company made him add it.
Fast travel 0xp. Walking 5000xp:) 5-6 levels
Exactly. It also robs the player of the games amazing experiences
Your pay to win argument makes no sense. A valid point would be to say pay for artificial convenience. Not like any issue they solve is ever a problem though that a player would need to purchase these dlcs. You will never need more than like 5 wakestones to use in game play. I have like 18 sitting around. More than enough port crystals. More than enough rift crystals. You're missing the point of why the dlc is bad and conflating it with pay to win.
If you would have watched the video all the way through Instead of hearing "pay to win" and then dive bombing to the comments section, then you would've heard the part where I say almost exactly this.
When I be sending people their Pawns back I send them with ferrystones, portcrystals and wakestones. Spreading the love
I get rotten apples and shit most of the time😂😂
@@GeneralRubicon i got a rotten apple, thought "wtf", got rid of it. 5 minutes later i get a quest to find a rotten apple >_< took me 30 minutes to find one, but i found like 20 strawberries in that time smh haha
That's why I love this game so much😂
I have been playing on ps5, and so far, the frame rate is stable even in the cities. Maybe I'm used to 30frs, the only problem I have encountered is the talk button keeps activating without me pressing it, and the (only one safe file) it's unacceptable, I have lost much progress because of bullshit autosafe. And we need hard mode like the first game...
You have two save files. One save file is autosaves the other save file saves when you rest at an inn or in a home.
I see it no different to shark cards on gta online and how much money as that made Rockstar and it’s one of the most played game across all platforms. So I see these micro transactions as a small fish in a big pond when comes to problem with gaming these days.
You’re comparing a live service game to a single player experience now?
There's more that fucked up with the game beyond the microtransactions and performance
Denuvo is an issue too.
The AI is pretty stupid, which baffles me on how much performance impact they have on the game, and the game feels missing a lot of mechanics and gear variations, that's what disappointed me about this game, the combat is amazing but something feels wrong with this game
The combat is amazing. I loved the in-game aspect of DD2. It was almost perfect in my opinion.
The AI is also "Blank" for your pawns to start off with.
They learn by your tactics and other players tactics
@@BrandonDenny-we1rw it's crazy how they almost get to know you. Super cool
@@GeneralRubicon not just you but each other. The more time spawns spend together the more quips they have
Yep. Also hired pawns will start to talk more openly
I appreciate the honesty even though I know you’re a big fan of the franchise. It can be a bitter pill to swallow.
I’m still planning on playing this, just not in its current form.
100% wait until it's fixed. It seems too variable performance wise from person to person.
Am I a bad person if i buy the micro transactions?
Not at all. Just know it's kinda dumb to do so as you can find everything except the locket in game
But it also encourages companies to push them more.
I was fairly dissapointed with the lack of enemy variety above all else.
I played Dark Arisen back in the day and that didn't have good enemy variety so I was sort of expecting that. I completely understand that complaint though.
Man can yall stop making videos like this. Its NOT pay to win just play the game it gives you all this stuff for free. Rift crystals you only need if you want a pawn 10 lvls higher than you and you dont even need that cause youre usually op on your own. Man this narrative is so tired.
No you're right. It's totally fine and definitely not toxic to the Industry For single player games to have microtransactions. This won't lead to single player games becoming more inconvenient like assassins creed.
@@GeneralRubicon they've been doing this for 10+ years already we can't stop it. Not saying bringing awareness to the situation is not a good thing but it's not gonna end. At least with this game they are meaningless and you completely don't need them. You're even limited to the amount of times you can make the purchase. Wakestones they give you plenty and ways to find more (i.e. the dragons gaze item), portcrystals you only need like 2, rift crystals are a waste half the pawns are free and will carry you til you need to reset your party composition. And it's Capcom they've been doing this for a very long time. But to say that these are pay to win is an egregious error. They are not point blank period.
It doesn't matter how prevalent they are in game. They are categorically pay to win. Mtx that allow you to change appearance don't affect the in game experience in a way that benefits the player. Microtransactions that have basically extra lives and more fast travel options do. It's as simple as that. Capcom knows it. Capcom knows a player will get tired of dying to a specific dragon or something and that will cause them to buy wakestones. Or when they collect all the portcrystals and still find themselves walking to a place they can't fast travel to they will buy port crystals. We may think right now that these aren't a big deal but it's a terrible argument to just say "they've always been there". It's making excuses for this kind of behavior, which in turn causes more of it.
Dying? Wtf is that?
Lmao
The microtransactions were baffling enough to make me cancel my pre-order on this game I was looking forward to. Another game bites the dust.
I know. I understand that's a boycott for some people too. It would've sold way more if they wouldn't have added them
after 20 hours of DD2 I feel like i haven't gotten anywhere. not in like a good way either. its a lot of walking with no substance. haven't found anything interesting, haven't found any decent gear, no Story Content to be found anywhere.
ill be honest this is one of the absolute worst and most boring " rpgs" I have ever seen.
sprinkle Microtransactions, bad performance, no fast travel, one save file and the fact it locks you in to one vocation at a time is just dumb... Npc " can you teach me how to use a bow?"
me " sure let me just go to the bar and change jobs and hit up my storage so i can equip all my ranger clothes". what is this garbage?
I made it to level 10 after 7 hours without finding a single piece of Equpment. how does anyone do that? i did that. should be some kind of record honestly. and this is all you can look forward to if you manage to actually get the game to run.
Keep going. It's a great game. Minus the MTX and issues with performance
It sucked cause I already pre ordered the game and then seeing the microtransactions... it bummed me out :/ rift crystals can speed up everything :/ and dont get me started on wake stone. I love and hate the game cause its fun but the fact the microtransactions are there it just takes me out. I feel like this was a last-minute call by capcom execs that damaged the games reputation :/ im lucky my frame rate hasnt dropped yet but yea thats my two cents :/
Mine only drops in vernworth for some reason
Didn't stop you from enjoying RE4 remake. RE2 Remake. DMC5. SF6.
Etc etc etc etc
I entirely despise mtx and don't appreciate Capcom forcing them in, but why is it a big deal NOW ?
You all bought their other games the last 10 years and said NOTHIN
@phant0mdummy I didn't buy those for those reasons (my personal stance at the time) however it's actually always been a big reason. Shadow of war, RE2 and RE4 all had been called out for it and should. Dragons dogma 2 hit harder cause the moment you loaded the steam page after launch is WHEN they had showed the MTX's that's sneaky and shady which you and I could agree on :/ I think that's what really pissed people off the most. The fact they got the game booted it up and out of no where are told they can get all these items for 54 bucks :/ it's always been a issue and always be and should be because if we don't make it an issue then companies won't stop pushing for a mile when given that one inch :/
@phant0mdummy and with shadow of war it was so bad they had to revoke battlefront 2 for stars wars had been destroyed by it :/ people have always fought back against it I just think it's a matter of a games popularity and reac as well that impacted it. DD2 was the next game in a series that's 10 years old :/ with it being hyped and then covered everywhere, ya people became upset with those mtxs
U can't find a pawn that is higher level than yourself, plus most pawns are free to higher. Maybe u need to spend more than 34 hours in the game. As for wakestones, u can get about 30 of them before even reaching lvl 20. Ferrystone cost gold in-game u don't riftstone for them. Maybe u need to learn how to play.
Yes you can. That's when you use rift crystals. If a pawn is higher level than you you are able to use rift crystals to hire them. I also address that the items are common and you dont need to spend money on them. Maybe you need to watch the whole video before commenting.
p2w, is there pvp?
No it’s a singleplayer rpg
Doesn't matter, dude. This take is what capcom is counting on to make more money from people who already paid $70
