Man, this was the best how-to video I have seen. I needed to replace mine and had this video right beside me the whole time. You did an excellent job. And, not even in your native language. Great job man. Thanks for posting-
Genious!! I could not get to the rear O2 sensor on my 03' Audi A4 and after over an hour of trying different angles. I followed the same method in this video and had it out in 15 minutes.. Thank you very much WheelsAndMotors!!
This is great. Thanks a million! Gonna have a crack at it over next few weeks. Cars started nearly stalling sometimes and super thirsty on the fuel. Needs a service too. Had to replace the catalytic convertor about a year ago. Think the fuel sensors are what may have caused it to burn out in the first place. Only found out about sesnors recently and apparently you're meant to check them every service according to some people. But this is great. I'm a small woman so should have no bother fitting in arms. Just hope they're long enough to reach across!! Thanks again. That was very well explained.
i dont normally work on vw's or audi excellent cars but im a jeep guy so my brother asked me do change the o2 sensors on his audi this video was a life saver thank you for the great video
ds2985 I might not be the expert, but there is a chance, that it might be not necessarily the sensor. When my sensor was faulty - it said "Bank1, Sensor2". bank 1 means engine's head, you have only one.. There is a chance that catalyst converter might be not working properly.. But I can't say for sure - there is a bunch of faults that cause this error. Have a look here: www.obd-codes.com/p0420
Hi and thank you so much for you post. You mentioned the OBD scanner. Can you provide more information on when i can find that video. i was searching your site and did not find it. thank you.
Great video. You mentioned torque but I cannot find it on your website linked here. I know this was three years ago but if you still remember it, could you let me know the torque spec? My front O2 sensor is bad and I am going to replace it tomorrow. Thanks.
Hi Tom, thanks for pointing on that :) Accordingly to Elsa manual tightening torque for these sensors are 50Nm, just updated it on the website as well. Hope it goes smooth for you tomorrow :)
Thanks for your quick reply. I replaced sensor 1 and CEL is gone. The hardest part is to remove cable from cable ties. There were a couple of ties down deep and I ended up cut the cable from connecter end and pulled it out from the other end.
I cut most ties but the last two ones were hard to reach and see. I maybe able to cut ties by feeling them but I didn't want to risk cutting other cables so I just cut the old cable and pulled it out. I won't reuse the old sensor so it was an easy decision. I ran new cable near the top. The car feels smoother with the new sensor.
Brian G. It's called 'Torque'. There are 2 versions - Lite and Pro. Lite is free, and Pro costs 3 pounds. Not sure what is the difference.. I have pro. Here's the link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en_GB
Thanks for a great video :-). I have a 2 iter. Is it allmoust the same procedure? I guess it is less space on the 2 liter, or will it be allmoust the same anyways?
Hey good video. Have a question for you just got a new catalytic converter last week and now I have p0420 code would that be the sensors ? Or is the job they done shit ?
@@wawayltd I I'm going to change the sensor anyway, but for me, the ABS also lights up the triangle with a circle around it, but after I stop the car and start it again, it disappears from the car's dashboard, what could it be
Yes, on the second try, in the end. It was hell=) Your method didn't help me unfortunately because my sensor was too old and stuck. I had to remove the exhaust system and cut the sensor.
Hi , I'm from Miami , my 1.8t Audi 2005 automatic have that little vibration at 1500 /1800 rpm and also on the highway at 70 mph The code didn't say nothing about sensor , was misfire on cyl 3 . Changed plug and coil , the fuc******* vibration still there ??????

I had 2.0tdi Audi A6 2005, it also had vibration on that revs in neutral - never worked out what was that, and the car is gone year ago.. In your case, I can only guess - injector maybe, or compression.. Regarding vibration on highway - is it only at 70 or at high speed in general? In what gear? Maybe tyres out of balance?...
When you’re rear o2 was bad, it’s showing ol-fault ? My car is showing ol-fault when I kick the gas, recently I replaced my front o2 but it steel showing ol fault.
I know that people clean them. If you google for "how to clean oxygen sensor", it gives you some results including RUclips. I suppose it depends how bad it is. Temperature + contamination..
Nice video . I have just bought one of these cars and i have warning light code. 17536/P1128/004392 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean Could this be the sensor ? the guy who read it thought a faulty coil but i just bought a scanner and this is the code it reads i cant see any mention of coils online.
Cheers for the reply mate . Its an after market system so the ECU does not know its running gas and could be throwing out this error. What do you think ?
+rusani89 You get the error codes - P0036, P0141. Different codes for sensor before cat-converter. See what OBD code reader says - it would normally say Sensor 1 or Sensor 2, also if engine has 2 heads - Bank 1 or Bank 2

what symptoms does the car have with the oxygen sensors that were not good
It throws an error code. If it's just a sensor fault, it can't test passing gas properly.

There's no bank 2 on 1.8, because it's only one head and 4 cylinders.
