Thank you very much for this video!! I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler manual 6 cylinder. Would the instructions be the same for this Jeep?? Thank you for your help. 👍
I would think it would be the same as long as you have the 4.0 inline six but I cannot say with 100 percent certainty. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
@@TrailExpedition Thank you sooooo very much for quick response. Yes, it is 4.0 inline six. I’m getting this information for my husband. I might be attempting to do this repair myself since he broke his arm!! 🤷🏻♀️. I will keep you posted & THANKS AGAIN.
@@TrailExpedition Awwwww thanks!! I’m not a prissy girl & don’t mind the dirt & grim at all. I’m in for a challenge. One more question, does it make a big difference using a refurbished one. Any one better to use than another?! 🤷🏻♀️ Sorry to be a pest.
Helpful video. I had to replace the flex plate and torque converter on my 1999 TJ automatic. From your video, It seems I re-installed the starter correctly, however, I'm not sure my tranny housing is flush. As well, the new flex plate won't rotate. Am I missing something?
@@TrailExpedition yea.. so the total bill they tried to charge me was $750 to replace a starter for a 2004 jeep tj.. i wasnt having it.. so i demanded that i purchase my own parts and pay the service fee $250.. isnt that crazy?? So its going to come up to good $500. Sure better than $750
Local auto shop wants $550.00 to replace my tj starter... now Im here. Thank you so much!
Haha! That’s crazy! Do it yourself my friend!
I'm getting ready to do this on my 2000 TJ with 186k on it. Thanks for keeping it simple and showing the right sizes of sockets.
You’re welcome! Easy install, have fun!
Good video, especially helpful showing socket sizes. Mine took a dump tonight at...the gas pump.
Thank you! Not a hard job. Sometimes you can tap it with a hammer a couple times and it will fire back up. But ultimately it will need to be replaced.
Thanks all the sizes were very helpful! Straight and to the point Well Done!!!
You’re welcome! Super easy job and I’m happy know others are finding this video helpful!
Good step-by-step directions. Thank you
You’re welcome! Quick and easy job!
Just did it on my Jeep. Hardest part was waiting for Amazon lol. Uninstalled it early. Waited all day to install.
Yup! Not a hard install by any means. Hope the video helped!

If it’s from a parts store, refurbished or not, it should have a warranty. I say go for it!
Thanks you.
Good luck!

So informative.. I’m go8mg to tackle my 99 tj
Thanks! You got this!!

Honestly, I couldn’t tell ya. I sold the TJ a few years back and my memory is a little hazy on this install.
@@TrailExpedition No worries. Thanks!
@jang3890 you’re welcome!
Great video. Thank you.
Quick and easy job. Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks VERY much . . . I'll give it a go . . .
You got this! 💪🏻
I'm doing my 97 TJ. Is your TJ a 4.0 manual?
My TJ was a 97 as well, however, the AW4 automatic transmission. Not sure if the install would be the same or not.
$250 service charge for that
Really? It can be done in under an hour! 🤣
@@TrailExpedition i live in California.. aka the new North Korea...
At least you have awesome trails out there 🤷♂️
