    You make this job look easy! Took me much longer to remove. One thing I did find easier though, removing the starter before the heat shield and putting it back on before reinstalling it. Also, I too have that middle bolt missing. Think maybe manufacturing may have disagreed with engineering on whether this third bolt was necessary.

    I like how you put the heat shield on after the install. Putting it on prior really makes it difficult to reinstall. That open bolt hole btw is for a christmas tree clip to hold the shield in. Toyota tech huh? I worked for a dealership for 10 years. Good video sir. Thank you .

    Hey, I replaced my starter on my 2012 wrangler. It was a pretty easy job, but it sounds different on startup. Works just fine, and it's not struggling to start, but still sounds different from the factory one.
    Did it sound different from when you replaced it, on startup?
    Thanks

    I just gotta say ... while everyone says this is an “easy job”... I totally disagree! I do many many repairs and fixes and have tons of tools.
    The driveshaft is totally in the way and no room to get any tools up there and get a good fix on the bolts and any room to loosen/tighten. The only thing that worked for me was an impact wrench with long extension jammed way up into the cavity & loosen the bolt (especially the 15 mm top bolt which wouldn’t loosen any other way without stripping - a flex extension DID NOT work). Other than the total PITA EGR valve, this was the most frustrating job I’ve done on a Wrangler. This video doesn’t show the driveshaft??? Different model ? Mine is a JKU 2011 Automatic and it was NOT easy. One more thing is it is easy to ruin the thread in the longer bottom bolt as it comes out - make sure to check threads before reinstall.

      Have you Actually checked these starters.. to confirm they are bad? Three starters, probably not bad unless your burning them up with a seizing engine. ruclips.net/video/FPSXhFBUTDg/видео.html try this next time it won't start.

      @Loins Love so... nobody is actually bench testing these starters? You can take them to the auto part stores to actually test them. You probably have a transmission issue ,shifter issue or cable issue.

    Your missing the heat shield over the starter, that could be why your burning through them so quickly. Where it's right next to the Cat that heat and prematurely kill it.

    Okay so I need your help. My neighbor has a 2010 Jeep Wrangler sport 2-door and I have replaced the battery and the alternator and the starter but I was wondering if the one prong plug goes on a certain way because her Jeep is still not starting after everything that I've done and she's got power but all she's getting is a clicking noise from the relay in the fuse box under the hood. • @Donnythelatemodeltech
      @Donnythelatemodeltech  5 лет назад

      Why did you replace the OEM starter? Both gm starters grind right out of the box. If you so you might have an alignment problem... gears not lining up for some reason. Might need to shim it.. how are the teath on the torque converter?

      Removed nothing. Sorry, this is some of my very first youtube videos from many years ago, not alot of talking or editing.
      Didn't remove anything to get to the starter, and thus would be the 2nd starter so the bolts aren't oem tight, that really would slow me down to much any how because I do this for a living.
