  • Today we unbox the Civivi Mini Praxis knife. Coming in at under $30, the Mini Praxis is a nice little budget EDC knife. Very smooth action, but does have one flaw that I'm not a fan of. Subscribe for more! Thanks!

I have to say, having collected for 40+ years, being former federal LE with 4 1/2 years in deep undercover(Group I UCO for those familiar), where I carried 6 fixed blade/Punch Daggers on my person, along with having folders, autos and fixed blades running from $20 gas station models to 4 figure customs, I was pleasantly amazed with this Civivi Mini Praxis, which BladeHQ threw in at no cost with a Punch Dagger that I had ordered.
The blade is sterile cept for the "BladeHQ" signature on the back top of the blade. After calling BladeHQ to find out who the manufacturer was as out of the box, playin with it for a minute, it was impressive. I looked Civivi up and was STUNNED at the specs for a "budget" knife, lol
    D2 steel
    G10 scales
    Steel liners
For those younger guys, you probably don't know the history of D2, and though it is not considered a "premium" steel by many supposed YTube "knife guys," lol, in the real world, with guys who use/abuse their knives, and those like myself whose lives depended on their knives(along with our ability to deploy & use it, lol) and in my capacity as an undercover operative, I did not have the luxury, time or resources to take care of my knives/daggers beyond occasionally running them under water and cleaning them with a tooth brush. I did have a stone that I would periodically run them over, though they were used & abused beyond what 96%+ of those knife owners would ever subject their knives to, and they held up like a champ.
D2 was THE Gold Standard, was the foundation on which Benchmade produced many Iconic blades, from folders to autos to fixed blades and the steel has only gotten better over the ensuing decades with the advancements in steel manufacturing, ie., heat treatments, cryo, etc.
Maxamet, S90V, CPM-10V, etc., are all great steels, I've got em in numerous blades, however if I could have only one steel in my knife/dagger, that would be D2, everyday all day 7/365🤙. My knives/daggers saved my life on at least three occasions and while any steel blade will work in a knife fight, I cannot help but be partial to the one that carried my through three of them along with various other critical activities.
Then ya throw in steel liners, when most knives in this class don't even have liners, in addition to a G10 grip?
This is a killer knife for that price and I actually ordered a second along with their Conspirator Flipper/Button Lock w/Damascus.
    Apologies for the novella🤪
    Excellent review Brotha👊
    Continued Success🍻

I have some old Civivi knives and it’s really nice to see how they’ve continued to increase their manufacturing quality. This reminds me of the, Little Fiend knife. Then he busts out the Little Fiend. I love my LF and ordered a Mini Praxis yesterday. I really liked the Hooligan blade shape but it was thumb stud only, the Mini Praxis is literally the Hooligans blade made into a flipper.

The detent on mine is perfect. I also polished the bearing track and detent ball track on the blade. A little KPL and it literally falls shut with almost no provoking.

Dude I can honestly say I don’t know which Civivi that is!!?? I really thought I knew them all. Sort of looks like a Wyvern and Fracture hybrid.
The pricing on the mini Praxis baffles me…D2, G10, under $30!! Civivi Elementum…D2, G10, OVER $50..???
EDIT: oddly enough a video about that mystery Civivi popped up in my feed…”Little Friend”

I really like my MP. It’s just the right size EDC. I use it as a fidget device when I’m on conference calls. Boss asked me on a call today if I was flicking a knife. Busted

Mini Praxis is *easily* Civivi's best value. D2, G10, heavy skeletonizing, and a standard clip that doesn't SUCK that can also be replaced with a titanium deep carry clip? My god, sign me up.

Ordered mine the day it became available and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Nevertheless I expect it to be as good as you describe it. Very nice comparison examples, it reminds me of the CRKT Piet, just a bit larger. Cheers!!

It would have been nice to place the 4 knives you had with the specs, but with the blades open.

It looks like a Ferrum Forge design but the Odium is smaller.
EDIT: LOL he shows the Odium around the 10 minute mark.
