Real talk. The idea based on spreading awareness of hyper sexualizing children carried potential to be a successful documentary/doc-series that consisted of real cases, criminals behind bars and stories from people who have actually suffered from this.
Cuties fucked up by romanticizing it.
Someone didn't watch the movie. No part of cuties is the viewer supposed to be glad the things are happening. If you thought cuties is romantic then consider reevaluating how you see children.

The thing about “Cuties” is that there is no way the adults that wrote and shot that didn’t know what they were doing.

I've never seen the movie, just heard about it. But what's anybody really doing about it to stop it? Saying "It's disgusting" doesn't change that it was allowed to be made or that services are still hosting it. It's like the director made the most disgusting, disliked piece of media in the world, and yet it's still out there. It makes everyone seem so impotent with their vitriol.

The Artemis Fowl movie absolutely butchered it. The whole point of the Artemis Fowl IP is that the protagonist is not a "good guy". Being Disney, they cut all his murder scenes. Anyone else remember from the books when he poisons a fairy to get them to give him a book, then kills them anyway? Yeah, course they cut that out.
Now watching a kid killing a bunch of fairies and people in order to get some treasure in a movie series is something I would love to watch
He didn't kill that fairy with the book he gave it the antidote but it also was mixed with something to wipe it's memory.

@@samuellinn Can't remember him actually killing a lot of people/fairies. But he sure as hell started out as the bad guy. He even becomes more of a "hero" later in the series, then decides to betray everyone again hen it matters more to him. The books were super fucking cool when I was 12-14.
Now the movie of Artemis Fowl sucks. But as someone who grew up reading the series, Artemis saying "you can't come in" working is part of the lore. Fairies cannot enter human residences or else they will lose their magic a little bit, become nauseous, and if they continuously do it they lose their magic entirely. Basically the fairies are bound to magical laws that is like a contract; you follow them, you get magic.
The problem is that this sort of thing was never introduced to the movie. A good place to put this exposition would be Mulch explaining that he can't use magic because he broke the magical laws too many times, mostly breaking into houses. Unfortunately that would require the movie to explain some detail within the great setting, which Disney seems to think is too boring for viewers, so instead, let's watch Mulch horrifically unhinge his jaw! Oh wow, look at the pretty CGI of the time stop!

In the 2019 Moisties you mentioned how the Lion King remake was a good movie but a horrible precedent for Disney, regurgitating and plagiarizing their own classics. With Mulan, Disney probably could have created a similarly good remake, shot for shot, but instead they tried to appeal to Chinese audiences by taking the humor out of the movie while also making Mulan a superhero (because superhero movies make money). The original Mulan was never a superhero, just a woman with fealty and determination. I'm honestly not sure how Disney could have possibly messed it up any more.

As Charlie was talking about Artemis Fowl I was literally thinking "damn, how can this actually get worse?" Turns out I completely omitted the memory of Cuties from my mind.
Cuties is a travesty Imagine how many people realised they were Peado's from that film or how many of them watched it. I saw the Trailer after people were going crazy about it and I felt like I had done something terrible I had never felt anything like that before a sense of regret so deep my soul felt it. Absolutely abhorrent.

"Little Miss Sunshine" did a better job at presenting the sexualization of children (pageant scene) than the whole movie of "Cuties" and that wasn't even the main point or message of Little Miss Sunshine.

I remember when I was a kid in school, I used to spend lots of time in the school library reading Artemis fowl, just chilling, being an antisocial guy and enjoying the adventures of some awkward crime boy. I haven't even seen the movie, and already from Charlie's description of the plot I know they screwed up. Disney is no longer about the talent, or the art, or even making kids happy.

He set out to kidnap a fairy for ransom money, not some silly magic bullshit object, and Artemis was already a full on criminal himself trying to kick-start his family's crumbling empire.

There were many more horrendous movies but there were many great movies too
I had a semi chub hearing Charlie speak until I heard, “Cuties”. I lost that chub in such a short span, and I think it inverted, because I feel bad for even looking at clips to see if it was that bad. I had it wiped from my memory, but then he said it, I’m gonna go wash out my ears with acid now.
As someone who enjoyed the Artemis Fowl books, this movie makes me physically recoil from disgust.
I've never read but I've heard good things. Let's be honest doesn't care. They clearly did not to a good job with ANY live action adaptations they've made in recent years, so I'm not surprised by the failure of Mulan or Artemis Foul, especially not when the stars of one of these movies (mulan actress) supports dictatorship and police brutality. Disney just doesn't care anymore, and have just become another Money hungry corporation. They no longer are making well made films, like they used to , and Pixar is just generally carrying them on their back. They just don't care anymore.

For everyone thinking “Oh Cuties can’t be all bad” after hearing what Charlie says, PLEASE. DO NOT WATCH THE FILM. This film is repulsive. Just take peoples word for it. Don’t try and watch it, thinking it won’t be bad as what other people say. JUST DON’T WATCH THE FUCKING FILM. Watch something like I’m Thinking of Ending Things that has beautiful cinematography, a great cast of actors/actresses, and has a story that will make you appreciate life and the people in it.
Cuties is a terrible film.

I actually did watch it through its entire duration. It’s just as bad as people say it is, so if people don’t want to take their word for it, take the word of someone who actually watched it in it’s entirety.

@Sergio Avalos Motion pictures have been around since the 1800's, and the first feature-length one (and therefore the first of what we'd consider modern-day movies) was released in 1915, so it's been over a century. That said, Cuties is still definitely a contender.
