Thanks for the review. I've been playing the PPE for about a year. I'm ready to give the Ultimate Wide a try now. I've been a GB fan for years, and owned 6 different GB's. Also looking close at the OLYMPUS for more control. Glad SELKIRK finally made progress on paint grit. The Briefcase is wild. Like your insight on paddle choice. I'm a gear junkie so I'm always lookin around. On the topic of content, I always like "hearing" how a paddle sounds on impact in a game or drill.. Just my opinion.
Another great content and observation on different paddles, is your J2K a 14mm or 16mm, there's a demo sale on their paddles on their website, and you got me thinking on what my weaknesses are tbh power paddles are fun and is a learning curve on how to dial them in, if you can't control a power paddle is pretty much useless, I'm like you a paddle junkie, tbh I need control the ESQ-C 14.3mm I haven't played enough to make a determination, but I need to stick with it and make it my daily driver, I do have the Mark One X and Neonic Flow as a control paddles All court, but again Thank you for opening my eyes and to be honest with myself what are my needs/weakness and to learn and work on it
How do you think the Kevlar face of the j2k is holding up. Do you feel much wear? In your opinion do you think Kevlar is more durable than raw carbon fiber?
@@stspickleballhow often do you play with yours? I feel like my J2K lost a significant amount of spin playing once a week for 6 months. I also tend to use one side more than the other for forehands.
I play with mine multiple times a week and it’s been the same loss if not slightly better than raw carbon fiber paddles. It’s been very durable on my end. Are you actually seeing loss of spin or is the surface just a bit smoother? When the surface feels a touch smoother it isn’t actually dropping much rpm I’ve tested this 😊
@@stspickleball just looking at the paddle I can't tell anything. But I have a lefty return slice where I used to be able to rip it with wicked spin if I wanted to. Now, when I try to put as spin as I can on it.....nothing happens. I get a tiny amount of spin no matter how much effort I put into it.
To ur point i demod a Neonic Flare Prime X & a Flow Prime X today and dang great controlable pop….j2k and apes pulse s enroute to demo but dang those two neonic prime x paddles were darn lit.
I play tennis but starting pickleball for fun. You talked about fun spin y paddles with power. What would you recommmend, I currently have a legacy pro air and the new slk halo pro xl. I was torn between the new apes but idk about what shape. Or a Honolulu j2ti. Or maybe the j7
Great job!, just what we are looking for. one question. In front of you is the Pickleball Apes Pulse v, or the Gearbox Pro Widebody. Which do you pick up to play ?
Sups man?! Would you purchase the Gearbox coming from a Volair Mach 2 Forza? Is it a big difference between the 2? I like a more control-oriented paddle so.
If you want a more springy paddle then potentially. But keep in mind it is edgeless so the sweet spot isn’t nearly as good as the Mach 2 Forza. I really can’t recommend the J2K enough tbh 😊
How would you compare the J2K pro to the J2K. I have the J2 and the J2K. I am still learning the game but I think I might need a little bit more power and was wondering if the JK pro would be a good option.
I was not! And STSPICKLEBALL might work but it definitely works on pickleball central for proton paddles there 😊. The gen 3 paddle I tried was branded like the series 3 for now until they get their new branding implemented on it.
Are they going to make a 14 mm wide body Pro Power edition of one that they sent you that is not considered a plush control wide body pickleball paddle like the wide body one they sent you?
Haven't played with a standard/wide body paddle in 5+ years but that changed when I picked up the Pickleball Apes Pulse V
Same
The Pulse V is very very good. It’s in my current rotation and I don’t see that changing anytime soon 😊

You’re very welcome! Thanks for the feedback!
Great video! I'm really enjoying playing with my Flare Prime X and Monarch All Court. I'm probably going to get the Pulse V next.
You can't go wrong with the Pulse V! You'll love it!
Cool format!
What's the swing weight of the GB Pro Ultimate Widebody compared to the Elongated?
Yay! A widebody!

Thank you! And you’re very welcome. Pickleball is such a fun sport. So many things to analyze I love it lol.
Any word on the BNB Invader? Very curious how it’s gonna play
Same
I have one on the way so stay tuned for a dedicated review!
gotta love the selkirk looks too
True they look great!
How do you think the Kevlar face of the j2k is holding up. Do you feel much wear? In your opinion do you think Kevlar is more durable than raw carbon fiber?
It’s doing really well! I haven’t noticed much loss of spin. In my testing it’s on par with the durability of RCF 😊

I agree! I’m super excited for you to give those others a go. 😊

Well I would recommend the paddles I use of course! Which I share closer to the end of the video 😊
Better believe I’m getting that new Gearbox!
If you do come back and use the link in my description. Helps a ton 😊😊
Hows the power and pop and back hand flicks compared to the elongated PUE?
Power is certainly less. Pop is more on volleys due to it being faster in the hands.
What's the swingweight and twistweight on the Selkirk?
How's the weighting/balance of the new widebody Gearbox? Is it as head heavy as the elongated Ultimate?
Not at all! It’s solid. I’ll get swing weight measurements later on I’m waiting for a replacement piece for my machine (I broke it the other day 😞😅)
Yeah I was wondering the same. Love the Pro Ultimate but it feels slow at the kitchen
Awesome video dude. Do you prefer the 14mm over the 16mm J2K?
Thank you! And yes I do!
@@stspickleball Awesome thank you. I've been playing with the J2K 16mm and J3K Pro. Love them both. Gonna check out the 14mm next.
Is there a release date for the new Proton?
No info yet but stay tuned 😊
Great job!, just what we are looking for. one question. In front of you is the Pickleball Apes Pulse v, or the Gearbox Pro Widebody. Which do you pick up to play ?
Thank you! Pulse V for me. Love that paddle.
How about pulse v and esq c 14.3
Pulse v 😊
What type of surface did the Proton have? Series 1 or more raw carbon fiber type?
It had a raw carbon fiber style face
Is the grip on the J2K different feeling than 11six24 AC that is a bit cushioned?
Sups man?! Would you purchase the Gearbox coming from a Volair Mach 2 Forza? Is it a big difference between the 2? I like a more control-oriented paddle so.

What’s the swing weight on the Gearbox Hyper 8.0?
How would you compare the J2K pro to the J2K. I have the J2 and the J2K. I am still learning the game but I think I might need a little bit more power and was wondering if the JK pro would be a good option.
J2K pro is the J2K with a touch more power and pop. It has a tighter weave on the face resulting in a more rigid poppy feel off the face 😊
@ do you prefer the J2H or the J2K Pro?
I personally prefer the J2K
@ how would you compare the standard j2 (carbon fiber) to the j2k pro?
Great video. Could you share how you set up your J2K?
Absolutely! I put 5” of 1g/in lead tape starting 1” out from the grip going up the throat into the flat side edges of the paddle on either side 😊
How's the surface durability (in terms of spin) for the J2K and the J2Ti? Have you noticed any loss of spin over time?
Not much. It’s about the same as raw carbon fiber it seems thus far 😊 nothing odd to note.
Were you specifically talking about the Proton Series 3 Raw Carbon Fiber that is on their site? Also, do you have a discount code for Proton?
I was not! And STSPICKLEBALL might work but it definitely works on pickleball central for proton paddles there 😊. The gen 3 paddle I tried was branded like the series 3 for now until they get their new branding implemented on it.
Whats the static weight and swing weight of the widebody gearbox?
Any lead/tungsten tape on your j2k?
Yes I do 5” of 1g/in lead tape starting 1” out from the grip going up the throat into the sides of the paddle in both sides 😊
I have a J2K, where do you put lead tape on your J2K? TIA
I use 5” of 1g/inch lead tape starting 1” out from the grip going up the throat into the sides of the paddle on either side 😊
Are they going to make a 14 mm wide body Pro Power edition of one that they sent you that is not considered a plush control wide body pickleball paddle like the wide body one they sent you?
No word on that yet!
Any word on the CRBN Trufoam?
Yes but I can’t share anything 🤐
What I like now is a hybrid or wide body paddle.
Did you add lead tape to your j2k?
I did indeed! 1 5” strip of 1g/in lead tape starting 1” out from the grip going up the throat into the sides of the paddle on either side 😊
When will new proton series 3 release to public?
No word on it yet! It’s not a series 3 but a new gen 3 from proton.
