Those kids are so damn good. Duong has a monsterous serve and ground strokes and Klinger is so steady at the kitchen. Hadn’t seen CJ Klinger play in a while. He’s gotten really good.
Ben couldn't handle Young CJ flick and speed up so hard to predict he's move and quang dong had massive Monster serve so fun to watch this youngester beating No1 team. Great Job Guys!! It's time for next Gen take over this Games.
Ben Johns is still in his prime. He loses now and then. His singles record against Quang is 7 wins and 2 losses. Federico will still destroy him in singles if they meet in the finals.
That's why Ben Johns is the GOAT. He elevates his game when everyone else is getting better. He has won 5 gold medals this year against Federico Staksrud. Great players do lose now and then. He'll be back.
I hate the apology culture of tagging someone in pickleball. Truly is part of the game and it’s absurd that a pro can lose a point like that and be so upset.
@ i think its fine. Like if u get punched, u arent gonna be happy. Just mad for a second in the moment, then afterwards move on back to normal, play the point. But saying sorry for a body bag is just basic etiquette like in tennis or something. My two cents
Highlights worth noting: 0:04 once he sees Colin will be handling the third shot, Ben moves forward, but not very quickly; glancing back at the return just half-way to the NVZ. Why not race all the way? (he ends up just barely set before the return to him was over the net) 0:31 Colin misses the dink, because he was too upright and did not have his legs into the return(?) 0:39. Nice fire-fight. Why did Ben and Colin step back? (and if one goes back, should they both go back; and come back to the NVZ together(?) (why did it take Colin so long to get back to the NVZ?) 3:29 Nice deceptive speed-up by Klinger (missed body-shot)... ill-advised shot(?) 4:47 Nice volley back-handed speed-up flick by Klinger 5:20. Why did Klinger take this ball- way out of his area(?) -it took him way out of position. (especially assuming since they stacked that they want Duong to take 70% of the court) - he set up a nice Ernie for Ben 8:46 did Ben hit the return long because he was moving forward while he was swinging(?) 9:00 Colin missed because he was late to the NVZ and not set(?) 12:28 Nice ATP by Ben 14:25 Great backhand flick set-up by Klinger (as set up for him by his nice spinny forehand flick) and put-away by Duong 15:47 Ben should have gone cross-court instead(?)
not to belittle the boy's win but is seems that the johns brothers were not putting in enough work in this match .. a rematch some other time should be nice to watch .. congratulations klinger/duong !! 😊😊
Ben and Colin have to be 2 of the least fun ppl to watch in all of sports. Whiny, massive lack of intensity, unpleasant demeanors, no joy. Just not good for their brand and not good for the sport.
I think they try to remain unemotional, especially Ben, like a terminator. I like that over gloaty players. He is like the rocks emotional players break themselves on. But these new kids are just attacking harder, faster, and constantly and the Johns boys are showing cracks... but I don't count them out. They are very smart and make adjustments well.
Okay first of all; Sports rules should not be objective: They should be the same across the board. Saying “I need more low to high” is so dumb. 2.) Refs in this silly sport need to sit on a high chair like in tennis so they can actually call balls accurately.
@@markmywords12u pretty much agree with you. But doesn’t the drop (easily read, or not) take away any doubt regarding the above “hip/bellybutton level” serve fouls. Yes/no? I am definitely a newb … and expect my question / comment has been hashed / rehashed, etc. Thank you for your response / comments.
@@brucesnow3506 yes the drop serve will definitely have more even playing field on all levels, but at the same time it takes away the competitiveness of the game if everyone is doing a drop serve (?), just my personal opinion.. also according to the rulebook, theres a lot of nuances to follow and can happen when doing a drop serve, so its not 100% or definite like a tennis serve. The beauty of volley serves is it teaches you to anticipate great shots as you can hit both drop shot to the side, make side spins or top spin deep into the line.
Call me a newb here, and seriously (as I don’t know) … why not just go to a “drop serve” … ? Wouldn’t that eliminate the uncertainty / subjectivity? Everyone would be playing under the same “serve” conditions … yes / no?
The refs seem to have to insert themselves for all kinds of BS. What baffles me is how they almost always answer “I didn’t see it” when questioned about a call.
The Johns brothers are back to old-fashioned reactive play again. Quang and CJ are such dynamic players as shown in the MLP playoffs, but even they cannot make the game interesting to watch if they are playing against the Johns brothers who are stuck in their own world while the rest of the pickleball world continues to evolve quickly. I'm beginning to think it is arrogance ... not willing to accept that their old "system" no longer works
I'm not sure what match you just watched ... they did win with dinks. Sure, they won a few points from a big serve and big third -- obviously having more weapons is a good thing -- but most of the points still turned into dink rallies. Quang and CJ won because they also won those points. They didn't make too many errors, they left fewer dinks high than Ben and Collin did, and they won most of the hands battles after either side sped up. None of that is new-school pickleball, it's playing the Johns' game plan better than them, at least this game.
Right- it’s perfectly legitimate strategy to tag somebody. As we say, “it’s just a whiffleball.” Maybe Ben’s reaction was more disappointment at the shots he and his bro made leading up to allow the attack that resulted in the body bag/tag.
Colin must be undecided between grabbing a Mic and heading to the booth or grabbing a clipboard and coaching up the bench. Stay undecided buddy.....I like watching way more talent and better personalities light you up. Welp....Theres always the MLP playoffs.......Oh wait.
Those kids are so damn good. Duong has a monsterous serve and ground strokes and Klinger is so steady at the kitchen. Hadn’t seen CJ Klinger play in a while. He’s gotten really good.
He was the reason NY Hustlers are got to the playoffs. Jack Sock hasn't been consistent at all unfortunately.
Quang Duong really dominating right now, all up in round of 16 across the three disciplines
i will never forget when staksrud double pickled him about 2+ months ago

"yes" 😂
That was the worst game of pickleball I believe I have ever seen Ben play.
I was thinking the same thing. Something strange was going in almost look like he threw the match
He was lookin like me out there LOL hitting blocks out, serves off side, wild.
I haven't seen anything like that since the Helsinki incident back in '84.
He did not expect CJ to play over the top aggressive pickleball
Totally agree
It's like Roger Bannister and the 4 min mile. Once it was broken the psychological barrier was broken. The Johns are human and now everybody knows it.

SUPER GAME;
Both these Youngsters are Incredible;
Amazing;Bright Future
Good luck
Keep shining.
Ben had a bad day. Collin looked good, actually, and was ready for the speed. These kids are good though.
Ben looked really off, Colin looked a bit below his normal level. Neither brother looked like they were into the match.
Getting to watch CJ here in Central Ohio has been an absolute treat! This is awesome!
Quang Duong is so good player 🎉
Hard to be number one forever!
That's why Ben Johns is the GOAT. He elevates his game when everyone else is getting better. He has won 5 gold medals this year against Federico Staksrud. Great players do lose now and then. He'll be back.
Young players like Quong Duong, Gabe Tardio, CJ Klinger , JW Johnson and Hayden Patriquin are coming up. Watch out!
So glad for this outcome!!
Klinger with two behind the back in between the legs hits! Talented player!

Love the 4 times body shot of Klinger 😂😂😂
Genuine question, if their main weapon is that drive why not lob every easy drop and dink?
When will CJ finally drop Ben?
Trận đấu hay quá
6:30 announcer says, CJ was ready to get pounded there and it didn't come 🤣
Congrats to the winners! Johns and Johns arent invincible after all.
Klinger is a beast. Reminds me of Tardio, but being a southpaw is so deadly.
This is not synchronized swimming - quit with the overhead camera!
It shows spacings much better
CJ Klinger reminds me so much of Ron Weasley played by Rupert Grint 😂 Anyhow, an amazing match for the youngsters!
Lots of heat the Johns brothers was too much for them to handle
Should the Johns added a bit more heft and depth to their serves (ala QD), that can help them a lot
Now, now. The boys will be back. Count on it.
Ben getting tagged is wild, didn't even move
Not a fan of the overhead drone view- prefer the on court view
Do I spy Quang using a hesacore?
Big Dong Q always plays well against Ben
