If you noticed the neutral switch you took off was for a 14 bolt trans…the one you put back on was for a 20 bolt trans…..the mounting bolts for the switch go thru the reinforced metal holes not thru just a plastic slot….any torque placed on the one you used as a replacement will bend the plastic housing and lead to cracking it or breaking….that metal reinforced hole must seat onto the mounting holes on the trans.

Excellent video. I followed the instructions as advised and had no problems swapping the switch. I did have to break the old switch off the stud due to a rust and grime build up. It wouldn't pry off with screwdrivers. Once I got it off I had to sand the rust off the stud. I should have done this yrs ago because it now shifts like new. Thanks again.
I had the same problem. I took me 2 hours longer. i tried to save the old one, just in case. But i had to break it.
Thanks for the vid! Just changed the NSS in my dad's 2003 ford Ranger was pretty easy other than getting the old one to slide off - live in New England (Rhode Island) good Ole salt belt. My son always enjoys crawling under the vehicles with mom to work on them
The job is much easier than I thought it was going to be. I have to install a new switch next week and, per your instruction, no problem.

Will this be the same procedures on a 2006 crown Vic lx
So I am trying this on my 04 explorer, and the middle bolt, which is 21mm on mine, won't bude, even after being soaked in penetrating fluid for over 24 hours. Am I missing something? The 8mm bolts onbthe side are even more rusted and come loose easily.
I wonder if is the same on 2008 tundra I can't shift back to reverse or park only neutral and drive please help!!!

Would replacing this fix intermittently working reverse lights on a 97 f150? It’s 2wd auto with the 4.6 and I haven’t had luck finding a “backup light switch”, I only see the neutral safety switch. Thanks In advance.

Hey... i have a 08 crown vic and my transmission works whenever i get it into drive the when i brake it jumps back into neutral... does this sound like a transmission problem or the safety switch

I have a 1999 f150 ford truck with a manual transmission I need to know where the neutral safety switch is located I have checked all around the clutch pedal it has a hydrolic clutch if that makes a difference
Good god my expedition wasnt cranking everything seemed fine so i decided to try it on neutral and it turned on right away heard on the webs that this switch could cause it to not go into park properly so now im here and realizing i must have not put it into park all the way myself cause it works fine now goes into park good and everything talkin bout driver error here lol

Hi im from South Africa and need some help on the pin layouts on the plugs on both sides of the gearbox ,my client droped of the engine and gearbox by me and asked i must put aftermarked ecu on gearbox to get it running

Any tricks to removing the old one from the transmission? The two bolts come off fine but the sensor will not. I'm able to tilt it and shift the linkage, thus shifting gears. Is the sensor separate from the metal plate connected to the shift linkage? I don't want to damage anything but it looks like someone here simply broke theirs off?
Try some form of penetration oil and let it soak for a while. The best I've ever used was kroil but it's not cheap.
Excellent walk through, makes it seem really easy to replace.
On this f150 I am under the arm isn't connected with a bolt like any of these videos and I have no idea what to do 🤔 it's a rectangular thing instead

Can a real old switch stop sending the singel to the selinoid with out having any other issues with it.

I have an 02 sport Trac that the reverse lights don't work on. I've already replaced the bulbs and the fuse. I was told this could also be the culprit but I'm a skeptical person. So could this be it?
+Kevin Myers We do not have a way of being able to diagnose the issue that you are experiencing with your vehicle but suggest taking it to a local mechanic for a proper diagnosis.
Could this switch cause it not to start at the column with the key, and start in drive?

My transmission will not get into reverse but drives forward fine and it starts in neutral .Could it be this safety switch

My emergency break activated my neutral safety switch after I put my truck (ford150) in neutral, and it wouldn't start in park, only in neutral. But after I released the emergency break, it started in park again ! What in the heck would cause that if you know ??? And isn't this NS switch useless so to say ?
Need this for 2006 Navigator. I'm unable to find the location of the Neutral safety switch.
It may be inside the transmission case.
Changed out old neutral switch, Now the truck won't start . Tried to neutral start it, no luck.
I have the problem where the truck starts when the clutch is pushed in but does not start when in neutral. Brand new starter solenoid, batter and starter, wires in good condition aswell.
Get a new cable & replace transmission sensor
The only thing I would suggest is to use thread locker on the bolts when reinstalling.

I put the old one back on and now it cranks i think i was sold the wrong senor

What are the symptoms when this part goes bad?

1. Occasional no crank when in park - if you shift it to neutral will then crank 2. Same in reverse - will not crank in neutral 3. Sometimes can crank in D, 1 or 2 4. Some might not crank in P or N... occasionally.. depends how bad they are. If you have a constant no crank in P, it could just mean this switch needs loosening and an adjustment.

WRONG INSTALL AT 6:35 You did not place the bolt in the right reinforced hole, maybe wrong part or can you MOVE the metal reinforcement. What a BS job. Junk Yard Mechanic.
