    I am
Always offended when told to exercise because I feel as if they’re looking the weight I have gained with my illnesses. As if I haven’t already tried to exercise but I always end up in flare. It’s as if they can’t comprehend that.

You had me at have you tried?😂 I hate those 3 words 🤣 I know they mean well but unless I’ve been living under a rock Ive most likely already tried whatever they are going to tell me and what healed their friend. If it were that easy, we would all be perfectly well. I wish it was that simple. I really do.

I did try the AIP diet and it worked. I lowered my blood pressure, got off heart meds for palpitations and was no longer pre- diabetic. I also lost 20 lbs and quit having digestion problems . I need to go back to it. It’s just so hard to stick to when you live with someone who loves sweets. 😢

I quit smoking, drinking, caffeine, the list goes on… it’s like of course I have tried changing my diet. If I was willing to give up a tobacco addiction (was not easy) then of course I tried the elimination diet and exercise! ❤ I know they mean it with love but, it’s like if the people closest to you see you made so many huge lifestyle changes it’s like come on??

I've gotten all kinds of advice on different ways to sleep in order to try to reduce fatigue.
I also get irritated with the mattress and pillow ads that promise more restful sleep and all that, as if they were magic.

With health, I agree people are trying to be helpful, but I have noticed that society’s ‘others’ are expected to be so considerate of the masses feelings that we are not expected to even correct them. I’m not a fan of matching what feels like rudeness with more rudeness, but I will calmly bug assertively explain ‘I know you don’t realize this but we actually get this obvious suggestion almost every time our health comes up. We do not expect people who don’t have personal experience or work in healthcare to have much advise for us so you do not have to worry about helping us. Just be supportive and understanding towards us and you are doing enough.’
However with topics like mental health and trauma, there are more people who seem to assume you suffered one or both of these issues because you somehow failed, and they were too strong or too smart to go through the same thing even though most of us just ended up in circumstances where you would have to predict the future to avoid the issue. I have asked people like this ‘do you think you didn’t go through what I did because you just did everything right’ and ‘so your less severe situation didn’t affect you as much because you are such a strong person?’ If they confirm this, I don’t entertain that attitude at all. I explain the ignorance in that, end the conversation, and try to spend less time with that person, if I can’t just walk away from them. I do not worry about their feelings if they are motivated by arrogance and willful ignorance. They likely have heard that trauma and mental health are not always reflections of one’s failures, lack of strength, or low intelligence. That isn’t even the case most of the time unless someone suffered a consequence that was not justified, meaning they were still given a shit hand they didn’t deserve.
There is a privilege in being in the ‘low’ or ‘average’ range when it comes to struggles. There is a privilege that comes with only dealing with the stressors that the majority experiences and not being able to comprehend the fact that your worst pain is not on par with everyone else’s worst pain. I don’t believe in not bringing up issues when you see one so I try to use tact when I do it, and not create more tension, drama, or theatrics than necessary. The consideration needs to be as mutual as possible in all demographics. We can and should understand where someone is coming from when they are rude, but that doesn’t mean we have to be silent on it when they aren’t making the effort to see things from different perspectives.

I think that people want to believe that they have more control over their lives than they do. It is scary to realize that you can live "the right way" and still have major illnesses.
In reality you don't always have control over what happens to you. You only have control over how you react.

I am kind with my response, but if they keep pushing me to try their tactic that won’t actually work even though I’ve told them it is more serious than that then I will tell them to stop and that I know what I’m doing, then I walk away. If they keep pushing after you’ve explained they are usually acting like they know better than you and that you are ignorant on your own health.

Make people understand your refusal to ask neurology about Tarlov cyst which makes you eligible for pain free fibromyalgia? Or disdain for injections that'll make it possible. No kindness needed in your not alone in your feeling that. Just wrong.
