@@SteelTiamat We have already seen that they can make a movelist for anyone. Some of the characters included in past games didn’t do any fighting in their own games. I don’t want to see Waluigi in Smash (I don’t think he’s that great a character, or even a good character since almost nothing is done with him) but I agree that the argument that there isn’t enough to make a move set for him doesn’t work when have had characters with less to go on than him.
You can tell Waluigi is being left out on purpose. I mean there's a secret door in Super Mario 64 DS in the character selection room and it's not even a character door.
i feel like waluigi was intended at some point based on the purple rabbit in the instruction book i feel like the glowing white rabbits were originally purple, and maybe you had to chase them all down as wario for an added challenge, to get the waluigi key (wario because it'd keep up the theme of each new character unlocking the next)
Maybe he is kinda of a "Secret weapon" of nintendo. They know the power of a meme, and if one day they dont sell as much as needed, they will anounce "Its the year of Waluigi" and every memer on the internet will make the marketing for them.

It reminds me of Dark Samus when she was an assist trophy, she felt like she did in Prime 3. When she become playable, she was reduced to a Samus clone for balance reasons.
The thing that got me to like waluigi was the whole theory of him being in Mario 64 DS and he looked pretty cool to me. I even had a dream where I could play as him in Mario 64

When Sora was announced as the last new character in Smash, many people were upset that it wasn't Waluigi. I can't help but genuinely ask them.....why? Since the very beginning, Waluigi was an obligation. He merely exists purely because Mario has Luigi, hence Wario "needed" a Brother. A mere extension that didn't really improve anything and thus, became a personification of filler and then a joke. I can already see the contributions Sora potentially could bring to Nintendo and Square-Enix (and Disney). What has Waluigi EVER contributed to the Franchises as a whole? The main thing that annoys me about all this is, "fans" aren't seeing the bigger picture past their own Jones for the Jokes. Until Nintendo decides to give him more purpose and give him his own game, these people would do better to stop throwing their toys out their pram, before they hurt fan reception as a whole.
It's simply more that Waluigi himelf isn't the top of Mario franchise when it comes to priority, and Nintendo can just legally go with more unused franchises instead of the middle-tier characters from an old franchise. My only gripe with that point though is the fact that they’ve said future smash games won’t be this big again. So if he is in a future game, he’ll be in a game that people won’t see as nearly as great as smash ultimate. It would just be better to have him in this one

While I wholeheartedly disagree with the Waluigi fans calling Sakurai names and threatening him for not including Waluigi, I am disappointed with him for not including my purple boy in the game. Sadly it is people liking Waluigi "for the memes" that gives us honest Waluigi fans a bad name. Pity he did not make it into Ultimate, but one day he will rise, one day we who genuniely love him and want to see him get more attention without calling people names, will see him in an official game.

I always ask myself. What if Waluigi was actually going to join in plants spot and the plant was going to be in waluigis spot but he changed his mind after getting threaten.
A classmate of mine believes that if Geno does become the last fighter in Fighters Pass 2, Nintendo might consider him releasing him for free like they did for Piranha plant. This would also mean that Sakurai would have to disable his assist trophy.
I feel like pirahna plant was one of 2 fuels for fire for the rise of people wanting waluigi in smash, before ridley got in he was meme’d for being too big to make it into smash. Waluigi & to an extent geno have taken Ridley’s role.
My honest opinion about this is that they should replace piranha plant as an assist trophy and make Waluigi a playable character because piranha plant is just a regular Mario enemy which Waluigi isn’t. It would be like them adding a Koopa as a playable character. Not only that but they should make Waluigis rejection powers from Smg4 canon by making a game that shows a little bit of Wario and Waluigis backstory so he has some uniqueness to himself. Maybe that game would show how much more popular Wario was than Waluigi which made him feel rejected and get his powers. Is there anyone who agrees with my opinion?

I've wondered some don't like Waluigi because the character. But there isn't much to go off of character wise, my thing is why not give him a chance in a game outside multiplayer games. Making him the hero or the villain, if they can do so out of Wario I know they could for the lanky purple man. And if it flops then fine all understandable right to say the character sucks.

Until Nintendo decides to give him more purpose and give him his own game, these people would do better to stop throwing their toys out their pram, before they hurt fan reception as a whole.
It's simply more that Waluigi himelf isn't the top of Mario franchise when it comes to priority, and Nintendo can just legally go with more unused franchises instead of the middle-tier characters from an old franchise.
I know Waluigi has big potential, but what people need to ask to NIntendo is giving Waluigi more spotlights and precense in games, so that people can agree that he is equivalent with Mario, Peach and Bowser and he is his own character.

Okay, I feel like you do know this, but Little Mac and Dark Samus used to be assist trophies (iffy on Dark Samus), so Waluigi does have a chance. But I also agree that he might not be playable in the next game or the game after that. He'll be playable some point, just not yet

My only gripe with that point though is the fact that they’ve said future smash games won’t be this big again. So if he is in a future game, he’ll be in a game that people won’t see as nearly as great as smash ultimate. It would just be better to have him in this one

After Waluigi was not a fighter then people had enough and Waluigi got a huge role in in some community events like the battle for Waluigi and defending Waluigi where he was the main focus

While I wholeheartedly disagree with the Waluigi fans calling Sakurai names and threatening him for not including Waluigi, I am disappointed with him for not including my purple boy in the game. Sadly it is people liking Waluigi "for the memes" that gives us honest Waluigi fans a bad name. Pity he did not make it into Ultimate, but one day he will rise, one day we who genuniely love him and want to see him get more attention without calling people names, will see him in an official game.

Maybe because Waluigi trolls harassed Sakurai and the Smash team over including him. Man got death threats over this, and frankly while I like Waluigi he isn't worth that.
I always ask myself. What if Waluigi was actually going to join in plants spot and the plant was going to be in waluigis spot but he changed his mind after getting threaten.

A classmate of mine believes that if Geno does become the last fighter in Fighters Pass 2, Nintendo might consider him releasing him for free like they did for Piranha plant. This would also mean that Sakurai would have to disable his assist trophy.

My honest opinion about this is that they should replace piranha plant as an assist trophy and make Waluigi a playable character because piranha plant is just a regular Mario enemy which Waluigi isn’t. It would be like them adding a Koopa as a playable character. Not only that but they should make Waluigis rejection powers from Smg4 canon by making a game that shows a little bit of Wario and Waluigis backstory so he has some uniqueness to himself. Maybe that game would show how much more popular Wario was than Waluigi which made him feel rejected and get his powers.

He was introduced in Mario tennis just to be an rival for Luigi and an extra character to play as, It wasn’t intended for him to have his own backstory or anything which I think is stupid considering that Wario had some games only based on him and he even was a final boss in Super Mario land 2

I've wondered some don't like Waluigi because the character. But there isn't much to go off of character wise, my thing is why not give him a chance in a game outside multiplayer games. Making him the hero or the villain, if they can do so out of Wario I know they could for the lanky purple man. And if it flops then fine all understandable right to say the character sucks.
