Does not seem to matter in this game. I'm getting punted a lot of the time while i'm on my line, but still get a penalty. People turning in to the curb while you are on the inside, etc.
My sportsmanship rating is like D or E because every single time i've tried to race online some i'll qualify well and work my way up the field often into the lead, then some fuckface decides to sabotage me. So i rage quit because why would i even try to finish when my race was ruined? Not to mention you gotta try and get positions back from the same assholes whose sole mission it is to prevent you from winning legitimately. Now I can't even get in any lobbies that aren't full of these assholes. GT needs to fix this shit. Ban people for ramming and blocking and brake checking, and stop punishing the victim.

Also on daily race C, always short shift halfway through the rev limiter on the bottom screen below car, saves a lot of fuel and don’t lose much pace! Reduces your race time by a few seconds!
This video confirms my own impressions. The penalty system seems to have improved. Significantly fewer unjustified penalties are awarded. At the same time, more aggressive and over-motivated drivers seem to be on the way. Yesterday I was repeatedly rammed, pushed and slowed down in an SR S race. As with you there were punishments but these punishments are in my opinion too low. You can see it in your video. For what the riders around you have done, there should be at least 15 seconds or more in my opinion. Considering how much time the victim of such an attack loses, the penalties are too small. An unfair action may not be worth it for the cause. If the victim loses more time or places than the cause then you do not have to be surprised if more and more players drive like that.
Cinematic replay cameras make this game absolutely gorgeous to watch. Swingman is great too, but cinematic just barely short of looking picture perfect real.

Just had the same thing tonight, total chaos, the penalty system does not work. Started 10th in nationals, got up to third, then they started punting off, ramming, under braking, side swiping all the dirty tracks they could, went from S to B in 2 races. Great !!
As Forza player you can't call any racing filthy. I got Forza few days ago and can't make it past first corner without getting smashed to oblivion. Gt sport players you have great community.

@2:25 is what I was talking about last video (penalty guy here)! But you actually can avoid bigger penalty by backing off the same way (just slowing down a bit more and it should be fine). Also I've never not lost at least one position when starting in the top 3. Started on pole recently around Lago Maggiore. Made a small mistake at turn 5 then got murdered later that lap. Finished 8th because I was stuck with bad drivers who kept slowing me and kill each other.
What I find is people don't think ahead and think they need every corner to overtake. Think they are Riciardo and divebombing or they can overtake like Verstappen. Just be patient and consistent. If you are close enough the driver in front of you will make a mistake, brake late, lose tracktion, go wide, take the wrong racingline, etc. Than you can overtake within the racing etiquete. Not every overtake has to be done on the inside of the corner. You can also think ahead, be on the outside(be safe to not be pushed wide) so you can line up for the next corner where you will be on the inside.
Holy shoot! Can I pop in and say that I am actually 'Gerbil' from this video. I only just noticed that I made it into a Super GT clip and I can only sincerely apologise for that lap 2 punt - even if it was two months ago I'm still saying I'm sorry. I was just getting back into GTSport at that time after a long hiatus away and since then I've massively improved on the whole 'not outbreaking myself and punting guys off from the inside' thing. Hopefully this is all water under the bridge. XD

What's the difference between GT6 and sport? I know sport didn't even have a gran turismo mode, was there any singer player mode? If there wasn't what was so immense about the online modes that made it a full game concept?
When I tried this race, I qualified 8th with the GT-R (in a Stealth Model livery) and got up to 5th. Then I got punted off track on the third lap on the back straight.
On this track, you just have to get pole and nail the first lap, because there are so many braking zones where people will punt you back to your childhood.
Thats what gets me.... you get punted off (even with new penalty system) yet on some tracks you get 2 seconds to 10 seconds penalty, best one is on one of my replays its like wtf!!!
Your races are like mine but at a little bit higher skill level. No matter how well I qualify I'm always 20th after the first corner of Maggiore with everyone barging past. Drives you mad and then you over-compensate and end up going around in circles.
These races need to be non contact like the option in GTA ...there's just to many dirty salty drivers out there that ruin races! After starting pole and leading every lap some idiot ram crashes me out on the last lap and I drop down to 6th. I ripped the disc outta the PS4 and threw it outta my apartment window like a frisbee into the River Thames!!! My PS4 and controller followed a few seconds later 😤

PRO WARRIOR01 I’m new to this game (I have this game since a couple of weeks now) and I’ve experienced many times that someone thinks his Max Verstappen and can overtake me in corners where isn’t any space to overtake and from far behind they try it and when I don’t suspect it and just follow the racing line and they hit me I get a penalty🤦♂️ (not all of the time but too many times this happened and when someone keeps bumping into me and things like that then I can’t focus to race well so I make mistakes due to that)
But the penalty system is one of the best things about this game because when you’re getting higher in rank (sportsmanship rank) then you will get more and more cleaner races (at least from my experience this happens) and getting pole position helps a lot as well...
This is about as dirty as every race I've competed in online. I'd love to race with drivers that aren't a bunch of knuckleheads, but so far that seems to be all I get matched up with.

From my past races on Daily Races, I think the penalty system has been rather “fair”. Punters/dirty drivers do get the penalty, I do have gotten a few penalties here and there because of small bumps from people brake checking me or braking too early but it’s been quite fair so far.
I almost feel like there should be a race type where everyone is just ghosts, i.e., you can't make contact just see your opponent. It would stop shit like that, though I know it kind of takes a lot of the skill and de facto race elements out but still, just as a second mode I would prefer that sometimes.
