I was privileged to see them in Syracuse NY Carrier Dome on D-Day 1994. I was doubly blessed that day as we had second row seats on the floor in the second section back from the stage. I think for the entire concert I watched with my mouth agape. There really is NO other band like Pink Floyd live. Not only are they very talented individuals that compose an amazing band, their visual interpretations of their music really is other worldly.

Pink Floyd came up with their name in recognition of 2 Black American southern blues musicians: PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason were with Pink Floyd since the 1960’s. They would have been around age 50 at the time of the Pulse concert in 1994.

The Pulse concert is just amazing and 'Sorrow' is my personal favorite from that concert. A couple of other great ones from Pulse are 'Money' and 'High Hopes.' Pink Floyd (the band) was founded in 1965. Their original visionary/guitarist was Syd Barrett, but due to his mental health challenges, he was replaced by David Gilmour in 1968. Another original band member, Roger Waters, became their primary songwriter and was also the bass player. The band's most famous albums all have lyrics written by Roger Waters. He left the band in 1985 and then David Gilmour took over Pink Floyd. The Pulse concerts happened in 1994, which was their last live tour as Pink Floyd. David Gimour retired the band in 2014 (the keyboard player, Richard Wright, passed away in 2008). I was fortunate to see David Gilmour in concert as a solo act in 2016. He doesn't tour very often, but the tour went through Chicago that year so I knew I had to go. It was an amazing show; he was 70 years old that year and his guitar playing and singing still phenomenal. If you ever want to see a more recent Gilmour performance from that year, I"d also check out 'David Gilmour, Live from Pompeii 2016.'

I'm probably giving my age away...but the first time I saw Pink Floyd was in Hyde Park 1970. As it was an open- air concert , the sound was distorted, but most of us agreed that there was "something different about them" which separated them from other bands of that era. It didn't take that long to realize they really were different. After seeing photos of them soon after in MM, I realized I had seen David Gilmore. We both had the same length of hair (like half of the people back then). David always seemed to have an unfriendly look in his eyes, but through the years, after listening to many interviews I came to realize that he really is quite a nice guy. One thing I like about him (besides his guitar playing of course), is the fact that not only does he have a good voice. He sings without accent and you can understand very word he sings. I'm so happy to have grown up in this era.

Nice reaction POPENYCO, sounds like you are in the process of being "Floyded" buddy. That's an affliction that has no cure, but it is treatable by listening to as much Pink Floyd as possible! Lol!
All kidding aside buddy, there is sooo much great PF music out there to enjoy, it's crazy man. I mean they've been around from 1965, to when they released their final Pink Floyd album in 2014, that's 49 years! Then after 2014, Gilmour continued performing Pink Floyd music under his own name, David Gilmour.
Another incredible PF song that is a standout is "Time" from the Dark Side Of The Moon album in 1973, one of the highest grossing album in history, not just Rock & Roll history, all music albums in history!
The Dark Side Of The Moon album has been on Billboard 200 album chart since it's release in 1973, that's over 1000 weeks! Second on the all time list of weeks on the Billboards 200 chart is Bob Marleys' 'Marley and the Wailers' Legend, at 510 weeks.
If you react to "Time",... the best cu to react to, imo, is the studio version of it on the Dark Side Of The Moon album.

that guitar at the beginning is so loud but so low you could feel it through the floor... it vibrated the very seat you were in, and the lasers looked so low you could just put your hand up into them (they weren't) but it felt like it

This one will test your speakers. There are some very low frequencies being played, not just by Gilmour, but Wright and Pratt on bass too.

Gotta remember that light show is crazy right now and it was done in 1994!! Imagine how CRAZY this was to see back then 😮

    Faith in humanity: Restored.
I saw this live, and to this day nothing comes even close of the emotional roller coaster. I left the arena in a mixed state of numbness and exhilaration that never happened since.

Do Run Like Hell from the same concert. It's the finale, and you'll see why. In the concert it immediately follows Comfortably Numb.

Go on a ride man. Gilmour and the fellas are iconic musicians. Find the lyrics and let them take you on their trips. Guaranteed you will never be the same.

Listening to it live brings another dimension to the song... The E minor chords in begining getting feedbacked by the amps make the ground shake. Just before the introductory verse is presented. Very synesthetic feeling. Definitely a piece of art.

Hearing this again made me reach for my guitar. Gilmour is easy to play, but it never sounds quite as good as Dave ❤
