I installed mine and run 200 miles so far, no tune or reflash. I get better mileage , around 25 miles more per a tank. Engine works super smooth, no backfire, no choking. You can do tune, but on my experience it's not necessary.
I always liked that sound open air cleaners make, even on a car/truck. Haven't jumped on doing that yet on my Scout 60 yet. Maybe when filter change time comes.
Have a 19 Chief DH. Running Freedom True Duals w/4.5” cannons and stock air filter. Threw on the same air filter and bike has started to overheat. I didn’t get my tuner from Fuel Moto and they don’t offer tunes w/o buying one from there. But I am wondering how running lean could cause the overheat? Running hotter I suppose but it’s getting hot enough that I won’t ride it like this. Going to reach out to Dyno and ask for help but may have to switch back to stock or buy a new Dynojet PCV from Fuel Motto to get the tune 🤦 Thanks for the video..was great to have the confirmation on how to install as instructions were pretty crappy.
@@MeatballRebel I'm now have Indian number three. My dealership has done stuff to my bikes that wouldn't get done at other dealers. Including installation of aftermarket performance stuff and head pipes w/o a cat converter. I'll talk to them and see. If not I'll put my new in box Ness sucker on eBay and have them put on a stage 1 air cleaner. I do love the looks of the Ness unit. I can't see buying a $400 air cleaner then having to put another $400 out for a tuner.
If you do a high flow air cleaner and decat or full exhaust, you need to re-tune otherwise you may run too lean. Talk to your dealer, sounds like they will get you setup right.
@@MeatballRebel They usually do. I've had them do the stuff before. That's why I'm still riding Indians, as they have been great to work with. Right now I have Cobra pipes, so I won't need to change the pipes.
If your Indian is already a Stage 2, or 3 then you shouldn't need a tuner. Stage 2, and 3 actually requires a high-performance low restriction air-cleaner.
I bought it used with Stage 1 exhaust and it probably just had a Stage 1 flash. I have more upgrades planned so I wanted the tuner anyways. Thanks for the helpfull input and watching!
Any intake that can't handle a heavy rain is not worth buying for me. I commute, so anything I can't ride in the rain is a no go. Surprised by everyone who doesn't ever ride in rain, what's the point?
Yes, if you commute like they do in Singapore you have to ride in the rain. I have a Jeep as an option but sometimes I just want to ride so the bike get a rolling wash.

Hey brother, I recognized you on Meridian right away, dope bike btw
Probably coming from the Indian dealer. Thanks, it shoots flames also 😝
Looks awesome ness makes good stuff.
Thanks! Arlen Ness parts are nice!

I notice that sound more on my scout bobber than the chieftain.
What is the part number on this. I can't find one that guarantees the fitment to this bike

Check with DynoJet for a tune, they may have one. Fuel Moto also has a remote tune option.
Looks great, I'm digging the Indian head on the tank, might do something like that on my Scout sixty
nascarfan1000 Thanks! You can find the decals on EBay
How do install/remove the air cleaner itself for cleaning?
Looks great, but buy the rain sock.
Thanks! I will just in case, like insurance.
Where did the cool sissy bar come from?
Ginz Choppers makes it. I have a video on it also with additional information.
Looks good, got any other plans for the bike?
F.N.G Moto Too many, may need second job 🤣
Meatball Rebel lol I feel ya. I have to get two of everything. One for me and my wife.
Twice the fun!
Just bought and hasn't arrived as of yet, simple install? Bought mine without cover, hopefully doesn't get damaged.
Not hard to install, just do it with 1/4 a tank of gas so lifting the tank is a little easier. Good luck!
Why couldn't you have the Indian dealer remap your bike to stage one? With the Stage 1 setup you will have the open air cleaner.
Indian will only map it to stage 1 if you buy their products.

Mucho mucho improvement in looks! More Bobber! More Bobber! More Bobber! Sorry about that. People are revolting in my hood. They want more Bobber....
Joe Davis Thanks! Very funny 😆I am working on more Bobber content, stay tuned and get you ear plugs ready!
I'm not actually sure how waterproof my Stage 1 air filter is come to think of it 🤔
Was one of my concerns with an open air cleaner. I may get a rain sock just in case I get caught in a downpour.
Never had a problem. Had stage 2 setup on both my Indians, and have been in heavy downpours several times.
