That's what is with childhood memories ... Things and places looked big, but when you look back upon it weren't so big .. I bet the new Wembley is much bigger than the old stadium. They should have kept the 2 towers though, maybe rebuilding them next ot the stadium..
Finally got a sponsor to give you some $. Looks weird you doing that but all praise to you. You promoted it well. Great video like always. Cheers sir 👌
I preferred the old Wembley. That moment when the British Bulldog pinned Bret Hart for the Intercontinental title! To be fair, the rugby statue is of Rugby League players. For as long as I can remember the Challenge Cup final has always been at Wembley. Rugby Union is Twikenham and Rugby League is not allowed there. I think theres animosity between the Southern upper class Union and Northern working class League codes of rugby.
The old wembley was amazing I love that match British Bulldog's entrance was epic rule Britannia playing, the crowd pop, Lennox Lewis holding the union flag, and the pop when he won
I’m the same.Even though the old Wembley was showing its age,you could feel the history. The twin towers, the tunnel the players came out of,the walk out of the tunnel to line up opposite each other in front of the Royal box, going up the stairs to lift a replica FA cup.As I said ,when you did that Wembley tour, you saw Wembley’s faults, warts and all,but you felt it’s history. This new Wembley is a corporate joke. The stadium is now boxed in by high rise hotels. When you came out of Wembley Park station, the twin towers were in view. Now that same view of the arch is hampered by those same buildings and it’s lost it’s impact. Why didn’t they build a stadium like Romes Stadio Olympico or Paris’s Stade de France, without the athletics track, incorporating the twin towers, keeping the tunnel where it was in the East stand and creating a similar Royal box to the original. This stadium cost too much and took far too long to build.I’m afraid Norman Fosters stadium is a massive disappointment.😿
Really enjoyed your video. I’m a huge football fan (Leeds United and England) but I’ve only ever been to the old Wembley (3 times) to watch the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final (Leeds Rhinos) … Wembley has been the home of Rugby League’s Cup final since the 1920s and has hosted loads of Rugby League internationals for Great Britain and England .. it’s always been a day out for the northern Rugby League fans - the guy who there is a statue of (Martin Offiah) scored one of the most iconic tries at Wembley in the first final I went to in 1994 against us … I’ve always wanted to watch football at Wembley.
I also think they should have kept the two towers, and integrated them into the design. As nice as the new stadium is, it doesn’t continue the history very well, because there’s no continuity with what was there before. As a United fan, this makes me uncomfortable with SJR’s plans for a new Old Trafford. The history is in the stadium itself.
I know people who have travelled to Wembley for NFL games, they said it was a great venue. Even an Irishman described it as a super venue. I suppose Ry would like it more if it had four individual stands that he could peek into.
What people don’t know Wembley wasn’t meant as a football ground. It was built as a theatre and a exhibition space. Hence why it had a royal box, so the King could view the displays in opulent splendour. After the exhibition finished they decided to keep the structure in place and turned it into a national football stadium, and the cup final was located there. The king presented the cup to the winning team and a new sporting tradition of the cup final at Wembley started.
Been to games at both Wembleys, the old Wembley seats were too close together and uncomfortable, but it had such a feeling of character and an aura about it the new one lacks. Not a fan of all the playoff finals and cup semi finals at Wembley though. Apparently that was to recoup the massive cost of rebuilding it as well.
the biggest problem with the new wembley is what ever i’ve seen their FA cup final european games and England games you can always see empty seats, we need a national stadium in the midlands , London is not and never has been the home of English football, it’s the capital that’s all not the home of Football

They couldn't take the Wembley towers down without wrecking them, was just the way they were made. And the position of the stadium changed which swallowed up their footprint.
