The younger generation keep repeating the fake news that we were the Dolphins. We were the Shrimps for around 75 years. Then when clubs were rebranding themselves in the 70s there was a controversial vote in the Argus to be dolphins it was very controversial (the brighton aquarium did nasty things to the dolphins of Brighton) and my memory was it was never official and we became the Seagulls the next season. Even if it was official it was one season vs the majority of our clubs life.

Brighton were so skint during their time playing at the Priestfield that they put a piece in the local paper asking fans to send donations. After the Amex was built they put a tile in the walkway outside for each fan that helped out with a message of their choice.
Fantastic research, thanks for the great video. I was at Edgar street all those years ago as a 21 year old very nervous but in the end relieved Brighton fan
Yeah we would have done I’m sure, massive game and we were having an awful season with everything happening off the field too. Btw typo earlier, I was 31, so I was at those 1983 fa cup final games as a 16 year old, feel old now but so proud of what we’ve achieved since those bad 90s
loved this particular video Ryan , followed the seagulls alongside MUFC in the eighties and funnily enough has just purchased the FA Cup final shirt that Joe brought you. Great to see that a football club like Brighton with the correct owner , structure and investment can rise from the brink and be successful again - A club who deserve their current success and not to far away from winning a trophy😀❤🤍🖤💙🤍.
Great video of the stadium! I remember the days back at the Goldstone, spent alot of my youth there and along with the protests (which I took part in at the time)
Oh mate, that was worth waiting for ! Well done great video as usual plus the history of the club. I was there at the Withdean in 2008 I think when we beat Man City on penalties in the Cup. Real cool that you tracked down the old Goldstone ground too. As for the club shop visit and trusting your card with someone else, brilliant. Well edited video Ry, cracking and funny plus a good ending to show how far the club has come from losing to United in the FA Cup in 1983 to beating Roma 1-0 at home in the Europa League.
Brilliant video Ry! If I remember it was Kerry Mayo ( the man named after two Counties in Ireland) who equalised for Albion Vs Hereford. I lived on Elm Grove in Brighton and I thought Albion were great in the community. I frequently would catch The 25 bus up to Falmer Stadium. Next time your in Brighton Have a look at Dot Purvis house in Ryde Road which is painted in Blue with The Club Crest on the front of the house and the previous crest in stained glass.

The PooGate story wasn't quite correct as one of the Palace players came out with the truth once. It was the driver of the Palace kit van (not a Brighton fan who was driving the coach) who had a dodgy stomach, shall we say, when setting up the away dressing room. Did his best to clear up the mess he left in the toilet but made it worse and kept it quiet. Holloway finds the mess when Palace turned up, tells Brighton and uses it as their own motivation. Meanwhile Gus then goes on a massive personal witch hunt after we had lost thinking it was someone from Brighton which ultimatly helped lend a hand to him getting sacked. Great video Ry, I was 17 when our clubs met on that fateful day and it truely is amazing how fortunes have differed. Hope the pheonix Hereford club make it back to the Football League, to think about how that could've been us (The National League wouldn't have allowed us to ground share so we would've gone out of existance that year) is nothing but a reality check to a lot of our fans when things haven't gone as well since that day.
Thanks mate 😊👍🏾 lots of respect for Brighton… I feel like I should make a video on Reading with everything they’re going through atm… what you reckon? The poo gate story seems to change as time passes by 🤣
@@RysFootyParadise Yes, definitely. Another club that appear to be being asset stripped. You would've thought the Football League would learnt from what happened with us and sadly not the first since us and probably won't be the last. Did you know our former owners sold the Goldstone Ground to a developer they also had ties with for £6m, only to knock it down and sell on again for an almost £20m profit. So while the club earnt enough to pay of it's then debt's, they were the only real winners from it.
Just found and subscribed to channel after watching this fab video and you seem to do a decent job of your videos for a Hereford fan 😆 I used to follow Kiddy Harriers, but don't really bother now, so you're all good now 😆👍
Awesome, thank you! Haha I’m like you though drifted away from the ‘Ford over the years… mad how many football league clubs have fallen over the years. I remember Hereford Vs Kidderminster every Boxing Day 👍🏾
@@RysFootyParadise Yeah I've been to a few of those matches including a disastrous trip to Edgar Street two years ago, but it's all in the past now and if you ever wanted to go back to Edgar Street for a match and meet up I actually wouldn't mind visiting as a neutral in the home and have a chat and banter etc. Would be nice meeting new people and make new friends.
What a beautiful stadium the AMEX is. Wow. I was recently this past weekend at the ethiad for the city FA cup fixture and the london stadium for the west ham- villa PL fixture. It was quite amazing to be at! I didnt get to go to the Emirates which I’m an Arsenal supporter
