- Last week we did a RIVERSIDE STADIUM TOUR 🤩 Home of Middlesbrough aka BORO 🏟️ In order to learn a bit about the history of the football club, I took a trip to the OLD Middlesbrough stadium - AYRESOME PARK ⚽️ Boro had both highs and lows in their old football ground. They were famously locked out by bailiffs in the 80s. The ground also hosted a few World Cup 1966 games including that famous win for North Korea vs Italy. Growing up in the 90s I always had a soft spot for Boro... whether that was because Captain Marvel Bryan Robson was the player manager strutting his stuff in a classy suit/kit combo or because of their flair players like Juninho - they were always entertaining! The Clough statue is in Albert park.
Where the damaged plaque is was the holgate (our kop end). The wall behind you was kiosks and toilets. If you go in the estate you'll see a bronze ball. The new houses behind the wall was a hospital.
And the streets there are names the midfield, turnstiles etc
You're doing a great job of bringing back family folklore. My father and his brother lived in Middlesbrough when they were young, and his brothers son became one of the groundskeepers from the late 70s till it closed. My dad was also a classmate of Clough. Funny thing is my dad has no clue about sports, went to school with Clough, and was at the 68' semi final in Madrid. All he knew it was a Spanish club against an English club lol. As a United fan I still shake my head.

Honestly I'm not Middlesbrough fans but I remember support this team when they meet Chelsea on FA Cup final where there's Ravanelli and Juninho at that time. Both of them are very great players! I believe in the future they could become good EPL club if they focus preparing the team and good management too. All the best for the club!
A United fan in the 90s was always gonna have a soft spot for Boro with Robbo - then Pallister went there, ince etc
It’s what we are doing now trying to build a solid team but do it by tapping markets other clubs aren’t watching had a few gems this season and a few flops
dont know if you missed it but there is a patch of grass on that "newer estate" that has a metal ball where the centre spot was.

I'm a Middlesbrough fan myself have to say i really enjoyed your video you took your time to research some of our history and had a look where our former football home was really great to see i went on the Boro tour just by myself years ago back in the 2017/18 season i think i will have to see your other videos to see what the other clubs look like.

Clough played for Boro and managed Derby, both clubs now play in the exact same stadium as each other.
My journey to the riverside was a 7 hour trip from QPR London lost 1.0 7 hours back evening game 10 years ago

I think Arsenal did the best job on keeping some heritage on the old Highbury stadium, I know the listed buildings helped, the channel gets better and better

@RysFootyParadise excellent, wish you all the luck ...next time you are at spurs there's two things to look for ... obviously there's now a lamppost replica outside the stadium to indicate where we were first thought of ... the original site is believed to be across the road between the two pubs ... beaverton on the corner of park Lane and the No8 pub ... the other between white hart lane train station and the corner of White Hart Lane itself ... theres a white cottage that was the home of Bobby Buckle one of our founders (aged either 12 or 13) in our first ever game he would be made captain just 7 weeks before his 14th birthday and is recorded as our first ever goal scorer ... he definitely lived the dream

I don’t get the disrespect some clubs give away teams with the changing rooms. Yeah, it doesn’t have to be as good as the home changing room, but it just seems a little outdated to have that attitude.
