Fair play mate. I am a West Country Man City fan approaching 60. Whilst my family has no connection with Manchester, my favourite comment to the United fans was often "Oh, you don't sound like you come from Manchester." Thanks for pointing out the fact that City do have history. I saw a prominent RUclipsr look utterly amazed when he heard that City had won major honours prior to the takeover. We will never have the fan base of United, but we were never a small club, we just appeared so in United's shadow. Anyway, respect mate, I really enjoyed that.
Awesome comment that mate 😊👍🏾 we’re all football fans at the end of the day and I’ve found having an open mind just allows you to enjoy so much more football has to offer 🙌🏾 my mums side of the family are from Aston & all support Villa, but try telling a 5 year old to be rational when his dad & friends at school are all going up to Old Trafford to watch Fergie’s United… most 5 year olds will do the same thing 😅
As a city fan (from Somerset) for 50 years, I do wonder why people get bent out of shape over having the wrong accent to support a club. Football is an extremely successful world sport, I live in Florida now and see plenty of City shirts. That is what success looks like. For the record I always support British clubs in European competitions so I have 'supported' united in their success in the past. Every dog gets its day.
I suppose Somerset isn’t far from Gloucestershire so you can see where I’m coming from with this 😅👍🏾 anyone under the age of 40 could care less where a fan is from but lots of the older generation forget the Premier League is now a GLOBAL super league as you mentioned mate… I remember on Ben Fosters podcast last year he was saying how he saw Brighton, Wolves, etc shirts in America 🇺🇸 crazy
We have many international fans and/or glory fans who joined after our takeour. But that's a natural part of becoming successful. We welcome in anyone who's willing to support and love the team like we do, only deal is we expect anyone who celebrate our wins to support when it gets difficult. I could never have dreamed of seeing my club grow the way it has. Thank you for this video, it's great content 💙

Hello Ry. Arsenal fan here, wrote to you in the Coventry City video comment section. In the 1990's, I worked with someone who is a Manchester City supporter. I went up to Maine Road with him to.watch City. We went in the old Kippax Terraced stand. In May 1994, we went to City's last game with this stsnd (v Chelsea). City fans were chanting at Chelsea, "Chelsea Win the Cup". (Chelsea were in the 94 FA Cup Final v Man Utd). Maine Road had a new Kippax seated stand, which I thought was Fantastic. Sat in that stand to watch City v Newcastle 95/96, Kevin Keegan Newcastle team. Watching David Ginola in thst match was Brilliant. Loved Maine Road, proper football ground in the Community. Haven't been to the Etihad, looks impressive.
Thanks for this. At the end of it even though you're visiting the rivals, is about FOOTBALL. Rivals or not knowing as much as we can about other clubs makes it even more fun because we get to know closely about their strengths and weaknesses.💙

hey thanks for the nice comment :) I think some City fans worry too much about what others say - it just comes with being successful (hence why Man United were hated in the 90s). It was a pleasure experiencing the Etihad 👍🏽
Hi mate Your looking at the wrong bridge lol that's to the academy stadium you numpty Joe mercer way is near the tram station can't miss it mate its 10 times bigger and longer and painted blue 😅😅
The 1880 date is highly contested and in my opinion as a blue, isn’t the correct date. It’s given because the same people that ran St Mark’s West Gorton, then moved to AFC Ardwick and then moved to Manchester City. The difference is say, with Newton Heath going under and turning into Man Utd, is that Manchester City were formed whilst AFC Ardwick continued. So City were a separate brand new entity, that existed at the same time as what they are supposed to have replaced. In comparison, Newton Heath essentially just changed their name. So Manchester City’s formation date is 1894, when City was granted company status as a new sports club, independent and separate to Ardwick. Manchester City are the only football club to have played in Manchester for its entire existence (Utd haven’t since 1910 other than when they play at City’s ground) and are therefore the only true Manchester Club.
thanks for that mate, interesting to know! It seemed as though the club wanted the 1880 out there more so than 1894 going by the stadium decor but I fully get the fans perspective on the latter... was great to have a look around
@@RysFootyParadise The club are a little confused on it, they do push the 1880 St Mark’s stuff at times because it’s an interesting story but then we have 1894 on our badge, there’s the 1894 corporate suite in the club, City’s customer service number for ticket queries literally ends in 1894 which is by design and they quote 1894 a lot generally. There’s a fan group designed for the purpose of atmosphere, basically a bunch of young lads who the club give preference in tickets behind the goal to… who are named “the 1894 group”, a bit like that Utd group who are in your singing section. If anyone is truly interested in Manchester sporting history, Dr Gary James is the place to start reading, he’s a Manchester based sports historian, who’s written books on City and Utd. He’s a City fan so does a bit more on City but he’s fair to Utd also. He claims that 1894 is the correct foundation year for City and Ardwick and St Marks that came before were separate entities.

Great unbiased video, I'm a City supporter from Stretford, i worked at Old Trafford as a teenager in the executive suite as a silver service waiter fir about 6 months in the late 80s, Old Trafford at the time was probably one of the best in England, these days it's a bit of a dogs dinner! The programme stands didn't come from Maine Road, programmes were sold from cages in the concourse or from little portable tables at Maine Road, the one's at The Etihad were new when we moved there.
As for West Ham, they were told they weren't allowed to remove the running track from the local council.. With the Etihad, they were allowed to, but had to keep the athletics warm up field (with running track) which is located opposite (ish) to the Colin Bell Stand. Capacity for that is approx 6k.
I'm not sure about the programme stalls coming from Maine Rd, but I do know the old stained glass windows from the main stand were installed in the walls on the first tier concourse. You can see one at 13.52. Nice video which I enjoyed watching. Thanks for venturing into the dark side and producing a fair minded review.
Good video mate, not bad for a red. When I did the tour a few years ago, I did the training ground extra as well, and actually found it more interesting as a blue. Do they not do that any more ?. It is over that bridge you stood on.
Hello from the southern hemisphere. Not a football fan, the wrong shape shape ball, I am just here to say how much I am enjoying your tour videos, they are interesting and well presented. Sending you hugs from New Zealand. 💕
Nice vlog & comments, as a city fan for 45 years we are in dreamland now, just loving the ride for however long it lasts, the owners have been amazing transforming our club on every level, we are all football fans and love our club whoever it is & level
You were asking about the programme pods outside the stadium, they have only been a thing since about 2009:there was a postponement in 2010 at home v Sunderland where the gale force winds were that bad one of the pods ended up in the Rochdale canal behind the stadium! Fortunately nobody was inside the pod at the time
They are actually very sturdy it was an unprecedented storm , I was at the time a program seller ( thankfully inside the stadium ) and they didn’t call the match off until 2 hours before KO ! Really enjoyed your vid , haven’t done a city stadium tour for over a decade and it’s obviously changed drastically in that time . Definitely planning another one soon @@RysFootyParadise
Greatly enjoyed the video and the comments you made. Yes, those ramps do look like a car park! And yes, when I heard your voice my first thought was that you are a 'typical' red from the south west. No need to apologise for the chant. I think it would be highly hypocritical of many City fans if they were to say they wouldn't have sung exactly the same thing had it been the other way round. It's 'banter', not always perfectly socially acceptable but it's funny and makes football an enjoyable pursuit and where you can go to let off a bit of steam. People need to be less sensitive and perhaps the world will be a nicer place. Enjoy your trip back in a couple of weeks (Liverpool at the Etihad?), you will be most welcome. I will be next to the Scousers. I am sure you will be a far more pleasant visitor than that lot!
Haha thanks for that mate 😊 unfortunately I struggled to get tickets for the Liverpool game so it’s the RB Leipzig one, but I do love a Champions League night game (even though you guys will rest players) I’m more going for the Matchday experience and see bits I missed in this first video - heading over to the academy being one of them
Great video mate we forgive you. It's pretty clear now why we wanted to rent and not buy the stadium because our relationship with the local council helps with planning permission etc....not a bad for a council house hey 😉....
I’ve been a city fan since pep join them in 2016 I was in high school here in texas n till this day when I watch Manchester city play my hearts just beats fast n specially when is tha derby I feel like my heart finna stop beautiful games in tha premier league hope I get to get to see a derby in tha near future
I think the reason why West Ham won't have permission is the conditions attached to them taking over the stadium. With the Etihad, it was always going to be City's stadium, a football stadium, before work even began on it. There's a very interesting history behind it, including not only an Olympic bid but also that United could have had it and it would have been an 80000 capacity.
Yeah that makes sense, the guides did say the plan was for City to go there pre Commonwealth games. I know old Trafford is in a sorry state atm but I still don’t want us to move. I couldn’t imagine watching United anywhere else
The commonwealth stadium wouldn't even have been built if the local council hadn't of got complete agreement beforehand from City that they would move there ..... City agreed to pay the local council a percentage of gate takings for home games at the new ground, for gates above the attendance average at Maine Road ...... most of the council bosses at Manchester City Council back then were City fans, so City were always gonna be offered this new ground first. MCFC is the ONLY club in Britain to have been founded by a woman ... Anna Connell, who was an instrumental figure at the church you mention, St Marks, West Gorton.
I'm going to United V Spurs in Jan, flying in Friday, planning to do Old Trafford museum and stadium tour on the Friday, might go do Citys tour as well, reckon it's worth it? Just fancy seeing the Etihad in the flesh and get a look for myself.
Great video. I just wish Old Trafford was still getting this kind of investment. It pains me to see City have such a nice ground and facilities compared to ours.
that's the bad thing for me with doing these tours - we see everything other clubs are doing, which we aren't... hopefully now with some of that Sir Jim money, we can start improving!
As an Utd fan, I always wish Utd can do something for it's megastore. It's small and the selection is really pathetic (mainly trying to push jerseys and clothes) compared to City's when I checked out the Etihad. The tunnel is really cool and the whole stadium/academy/campus shows the proper planning of City. Hopefully, Utd can catch up in terms of facilities, other than the leaky roof :)
Bury fan. Would go to Old Trafford or Maine Rd when Bury were away. Can’t say who was best atmosphere wise. Kippax what a noise but Stratford end also good.

Citys history is every bit as long as Uniteds ....... in fact the club were known as Manchester City almost a decade BEFORE Newton Heath became United. City have always had loyal supporters clubs in Gloucester and Cheltenham, so the supporters ARE there ....

Haha too right! 😅 it’s in a prime location with the train line nearby and that entertainment complex being next door
I’ve been a city fan since pep join them in 2016 I was in high school here in texas n till this day when I watch Manchester city play my hearts just beats fast n specially when is tha derby I feel like my heart finna stop beautiful games in tha premier league hope I get to get to see a derby in tha near future
Youre stronger than i am bro...i could never go to old traford and say nice things about united. Great video! #cmonciteh
Honestly a cracking video mate. All the usual bits of piss taking were very few considering the club you support. 😂
I think City fans would be upset if I didn’t try and at least have SOME banter in there 😅 thanks for watching mate & stay tuned for part 2 👀
This is what footballs about. Being able to go and enjoy each teams stadiums learn abit about their history and just have a good time.
I'm going to United V Spurs in Jan, flying in Friday, planning to do Old Trafford museum and stadium tour on the Friday, might go do Citys tour as well, reckon it's worth it? Just fancy seeing the Etihad in the flesh and get a look for myself.
Always worth checking out mate 😅 sounds like a fun trip! Let us know how it goes!
How have you perfectly predicted the score 😂😂 3-0 una. Also i think the guides name is martin. Toured for me aswell. Absolutely sensational lad him.
He was a top bloke, along with the other guide. I wish I remembered both of their names when making the video so I could have given them a shoutout
Manchester city💙💙💙💙💙💙 5 trophys in a year welcome to the home of the treble winners
Loved the video as City are my team!
"Great assessment" - City fan since '73
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏾
Joe Mercer Way is a wider walkway on the other side of the stadium, near the City Store.
Yeah it’s a nice area around the shop… will do more of an analysis in part 2 for the city match
You & your mum have a great stage presence. Keep the videos coming.@@RysFootyParadise
@@AJM-timecop thanks! Enjoy making them 😁
Enjoyed the video. Will be visiting the UK and the Ethiad for the first time early next season, can't wait!! How much was the tour?
I can't blame you.
Welcome to the biggest club in Manchester.
Enjoy.
🙄💀
As an Utd fan, I always wish Utd can do something for it's megastore. It's small and the selection is really pathetic (mainly trying to push jerseys and clothes) compared to City's when I checked out the Etihad. The tunnel is really cool and the whole stadium/academy/campus shows the proper planning of City. Hopefully, Utd can catch up in terms of facilities, other than the leaky roof :)
It's shite our megastore isn't it mate... even teams like Bournemouth and Brentford have more variety
@@RysFootyParadise I had to buy my Utd magnet from the city centre souvenir shops and pins from the make shift stalls on match day sums it up. 🥲
Bury fan. Would go to Old Trafford or Maine Rd when Bury were away. Can’t say who was best atmosphere wise. Kippax what a noise but Stratford end also good.
That must be scary😭😭😭
Very nice stadium the inside is impressive while the outside looks tired
Respect from Indonesia
I'm United fan to
😅😮😮
Mate 😎 fair play 😉 man
Haha thanks for watching 👍🏾
This is the CITYZEN.... Stay champion forever...
Nice to see they have a plug for haaland in the dressing room
Why dig they have to have 10000 morse seats? The stadium are always half empty anyway 🙄
I think we can all agree your Mum stole the show 😀 Nice video from a level headed supporter 👏
Is old Trafford ground level or below ground level

Did he say Rico Lewis can sit under the locker room on a match day
Remember that face
Loved it.
I wouldn’t dare go on a stadium tour for them
I wish I could be thr all the way from South Africa 😝
Hopefully this video has helped you get a feel for what it’s like in & around the stadium 😊
Citys history is every bit as long as Uniteds ....... in fact the club were known as Manchester City almost a decade BEFORE Newton Heath became United.
City have always had loyal supporters clubs in Gloucester and Cheltenham, so the supporters ARE there ....
I am afraid your wrong on the Everton Badge the church looking building is not it is a tower in the Everton area on a mound which back in the day was a lock up jail
Wasn’t talking about the badge mate there is literally a church on the grounds, check out the tour 😊 you’re right on what you said with the tower being used as a jail etc but that wasn’t what I was referring to in comparing “church based football teams”
Stadium is well maintained
Yeah nice & tidy, fair play 👏🏽
💙💙💙 this
❤️💙
I'm still watching your video but as for saying there were no City fans in Cheltenham. Absolute nonsense. Cheltenham are a very solid Supporters Club. They've been bringing up multiple coaches to home games for as long as I can remember. Decades.
That’s good to hear! No hate… just I can only remember one City supporter personally back then and that’s a guy known as “Roly” the postman who I worked with & a season ticket holder I believe
@@RysFootyParadise Yeah no worries mate. You were very fair. Cheltenham and Gloucester are a very well known Supporters Club. Dedicated fans. We also have a great Scandinavian following (think most Premier League clubs do, especially if you were successful in the 70s).
@@ShozzleMeNoz when I went to watch the United Vs Copenhagen game, I think there was more Danish United fans than Copenhagen fans 😁 English football is huge over there isn’t it… not surprised City benefit from that following also… how far is the old Maine road site from the Etihad?
@@RysFootyParadise Yep huge interest. The Scandinavia branch is by far the biggest branch of the City Supporters Club.
Not surprised by your remarks about Copenhagen.
It's about three miles but I've never been back since we left. I know people who have and without exception they told me not to go. I don't think I ever will. I've seen other football RUclipsrs go there but none of them were City fans. Leaving Maine Road was the right thing for the club but it's still a void that will never be filled.
@@ShozzleMeNoz I understand why you wouldn’t want to go back mate 😊 I think I’m gonna have a mooch before the game in part 2 👍🏾
Hey...Love that you went with your mum. (She's pretty hot, by the way!) Watched your Spurs video and subscribed. Trying to find all your videos for this season. Ill keep looking.
It's a pity you never went to have a look at the campus, that bridge is a link from the etihad to womens stadium and training pitches, plus bet it was nice not having to walk ankle deep in piss hey
Did a bit of a part 2 discovering more stuff and look forward to doing a part 3 😁
Nice one. Banter apart great vlog mate 👍@RysFootyParadise
you aren’t saying anything to ac milan when they have the same thing u said looked like a multi story car park
when I go to the San Siro I'll make a point of saying it looks like a multi story car park too... :D
Football clubs are International i live in the states and have been a Arsenal fan since i was a kid and BTW i don't have a English Accent.
Great side Man City from Birmingham fan KRO.
Biggest council house in manchester
Are you going to Elland Road?
I will be at some point… I know Man United fans aren’t normally welcomed with open arms there… 🙈
Just don’t say Man United! 😂
@@rickyvai866 I’ll tell ‘em I’m a Forest Green Rovers fan 🌱 🚜
@@RysFootyParadiseyou’ve got the accent for it… sorry I had to 😂
@@RysFootyParadisethere not welcomed there because Leeds are crap 😂
We don’t need 20 years mate wake up.. 😂😂😂
🤣 true! I was 5 when my dad got me supporting United and by that point we’d only won the first 2 Prem titles so these kids have had all sorts to cheer about 😁🏆
💙💙💙
1 Blood 1 way big brother
I want to see your video after we beat your outside of Manchester club on 3-3-24
Even us fans aren’t deluded enough to think we’re gonna come away with the 3 points there 😅
The old division 3
The old old division 3 but at the time of the Gillingham game it was division 2 before the championship was introduced 😊 (says it on the sign behind me)
Man City formed in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour
😂😂😂😂
Comedian isn’t she 🤣
You certainly don’t sound like you’re from Manchester. Is that how they talk in the borough of Trafford ?
Hopefully not… nobody wants to sound like this 😅
tour to blackburn rovers bos
Was literally thinking today I’d love to cover Blackburn 👍🏾
Why do all English people have Irish names nowadays wheres all the anglo saxon names
Such a random comment 🤣❤️
Hope you enjoyed going to the best club in the world. Lol, well done
Haha was an enjoyable tour
Shit filters down from the top to the bottom. What a phrase to describe man u thanks to glazers loading the club with huge debt. Total mess & chaos at man u, city fans should be very happy with the situation! 😂
Man city formed in 2008 . Come on get your facts right .
😅
a man u fan with a funny accent, thats about right...not from manchester!!
Yep 😅
Absolutely soulless club
115 reasons not to go there
🙊
Enemy territory
You kept using the word "rivals" but United have become insignificant. 10 years finishing above United and counting
Geographically* don’t remind me 😅
@RysFootyParadise You've had your glory years (which were misery years for us Blues) and now we've had ours...finally! Keep up the quality vids and don't lose your sense of humour which your clearly inherited from your cool Mum 🔝Liked and subscribed 👍🏻
Haha lege 😁 thanks for supporting the channel, look forward to part 2 in a couple weeks back in Manchester 🍻
why does your mum sound like a BBC anchor
Because she’s old 🙊
