- Join me on an exhilarating journey as I delve into the restoration of my newly acquired 1968 Camaro! Bought from a classic car flipper, this beauty comes with a story - and it's not all shiny chrome and revving engines.
In this video, I peel back the layers to reveal the less-than-stellar previous work done on this classic ride. From poorly executed rust repairs to questionable welding jobs, this Camaro has seen its fair share of DIY fixes.
Don't worry we'll get this sucker fixed up right.

Tom here, TM Camaro shop. Thanks to your inspirational series on Camaros, I was inspired to complete my 68 that has been apart in my garage since 1995. I had every new part I needed and the car was partially assembled with mostly new gm sheet metal and has sat in primer for quite awhile. 350, 4 speed, cowl induction and yes, a spoiler on the rear. Thanks for the kick in the ass as I'm now having too much fun!
I think a lot of us fall into that category. Life happens. I am excited for you.
Dan editing grinder noises to be quiet makes you better than 99% of other channels.
Thanks buddy. I try some times haha
RUclips would be so boring without your videos
Absolutely amazing to watch. Starting with rusted parts, baling wire and a few screws...the car goes together with a hammer, clamps and some welds. Hard to imagine, interesting to watch.
Second grinder is a game changer, saves so much time
I ended up buyin a second grinder for same reason , now I think I need a 3rd for floppy disks lol 1 grind,1 death wheel,1 flappy disc lol won’t need any when I’m done lol
You do good work and you are honest person when you sell a vehicle people that buy them have nothing to complain about
Glad to see you back at the Camaro. You’ll have a bunch of people that will just have to own it for their own!!! Good luck!
It is something to watch Dan work. Quick and efficient, all the while narrating for us. Thanks Dan, Dannie, F & S 🇨🇦
Thanks buddy
As I said in another video, this going to be another 15k in future Dans pocket very soon , good job Dan ! You make my old 62yr old soul feel good , knowing there are youngsters still out there that love working on good ole classic cars , maybe there is some hope left in the world
I'm hoping so!
For a car your going to sell you doa great job making sure it is done well. Thanks for the content.
Before you go welding the outside quarter panels all permanent you should check the deck lid width for fitment.
Exactly what i was thinking.

Awesome job on the 68 Camaro. Dan. Keep up the great work.
This car looks like it’s right up your alley for content. I’m glad to see you not bashing the previous body work.
I tell ya man, i am REALLY diggin them slots! You should keep those!
The welding parts of your videos are my favorite!!!!!!!!!! You always make it look easy!! .....much love and respect DDSpeedshop!!!!!!!!!
Haha I try
My favorite is when he's talking away flips down his shield and is mumbling away then flips it back up and continues talking 😂👌
"Honest Dan's" used cars! Love it!
Haha exactly
This car is really in good shape Dan. Going to make new owner a great project. I hope you and Dani can find the place of your dreams. I would love to see you with lots of land and a garage with bigger lift. You all deserve it. 👍😎✌️
And a fence, so the dogs can run and get in the way !
Yeah we're working for it.
I love those wheels. What we used to call slot mags back in the '70s. Those, Cragar S/S, and the gray 5 spoke Torq Thrust style are my three favorite wheels. Nothing more than 15" diameter.
Don't forget about Centerlines
@@javierdenardo2607 Centerlines are more modern, and look better on more modern cars. Centerlines are actual drag race wheels.
Nice work Dan, someone will be buying a real solid 68. You do good work.
Need a road trip to HalfAss customs to laser the rust on that Camero
That would be a little time consuming I think haha
My favorite thing to watch you do, Dan, is fit panels, cut, and weld. Very informative and entertaining--thanks!
Sat down to watch vid after work got half way through and r alized I have a neglected Chevy 2500 in the yard needing work so went out for a few hrs and got a bunch done on it! Now back to watch the rest thanks for the motivation Dan!!!
Heck ya man! Get after it
Dang. Looking great Dan. Really coming along. Looking sharp 👍💯
You sir a real treasure to the car culture saving classics from the crusher and being brutally honest with the finished product that the new owner is getting . Keep up the good great content and good luck on getting your dream property. You two deserve it.
Hey thanks man!
I like those old school slots
Yep, you remembered to lower the volume, in editing, good job. ;-)
I just noticed the Nova seat belts are still sticking out the door. ;-D
Dan, I love watching you work! You always get the hard stuff taken care of. I would buy this car from you in a heartbeat if I wasn't a poor retired man. I would suggest to treat the rust, get the body lines as good as possible, primer it all one color and paint the underside after rust converting it. Great work and great teamwork with you and Danielle. Love you guys!!
Talk about welding burn. In the day, highschool shop, I was wearing a football jersey with the mesh around the top and sleeves and arc welding. I was the polka dot princess for awhile. Never lived that one down.
Deja vu, all over again? Looks like the black paint job on the Camaro turned rusty brown. This one did go together fast. Cheers!! 😎
Gee wiz Dan. Ripped through one Camaro and now you make it look like childs play.
Great video, enjoy watching the work and Dan explains along the way for an hour 👍🏼👍🏼 😃 No whining today. LOL Thanks
Watched the Nova throughout the entire video. It was basking in the sunshine at the beginning. Ready to be tucked in at the end.😎
Upon getting to the end of this video you made this old hot rodder (65 yr old)realize how much I miss sheet metal fab work. The fit with aftermarket parts is very good . Someone is going to get a great foundation to build up a real nice Camaro from. Keep up the good work Dan and Dani . I am looking forward to the next installment of the 68 Camaro build.
It's fun but can sure be a pain sometimes haha
Actually like the car resto vids Dan Mike hall has a bunch of projects that are kinda reasonable but it's all just work.good job bringing these old history back to life
Thanks for another , Brother !
Dan the floor pan man looks good nice fitment your doing a nice job.
Looking good 🎉 for every project car that someone finishes there are 10 that are partially done then left to sit. Such is life
Your definitely a car builder nobody can say different..
Hey Dan&Dannie
Awesome work, hope you are both doing well.
Take care😊
Aluminum slots are dialed!
2 grinders are required, one for cuts, one for grinding welds and rust.
Camaro's are the best cars....to sell. Nova's where it's at, or Chevelle's...or pick ups.
Blew my mind welding the clamp tp fender😮
Haha sometimes ya gotta cheat it
Thanks for another great video. You should not put filler where the roof connects to the side sail panel. My nova was done like that and now it has paint bubbles from rust seeping up. The correct way is to fill with liquid metal/lead and then smooth out with filler. That is the way the factory did it because it was two different pieces meeting together to prevent rust from forming.
Cool Camaro guys !!!
All that sheet metal would have welded much easier if this thing had frame connectors.
Lol
Great job Dan. Personally I think this is a nicer car than the 67 and seems to be going together a lot easier. I think who ever ends up with this car can have a beautiful car with a very minimal amount of work. Personally I would replace the rear frame rails but that`s just my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
Miller welders are great. Made right here in my state. Appleton WI. Just a hop skip away for me, but then everywhere is in Wisconsin.
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ I bet you you have big block front springs that's why it's not budging. Also it has mono leaf 67 rear springs. The back of the car looks great, it seemed to line up a whole lot better than the last one. Anyway that's what you get for aftermarket parts. I've been watching you long enough and you always do a fine job Dan 👍 keep up the great work and the awesome content guys ✌️🇺🇲
Get a good rust remover solution to treat the surface rust and then spray on the primer colour of your choice. It's up to you if you want to seal the seams.
The rust-oleum rust convertor is pretty good stuff. I use it as a primer before putting undercoating on most of my vehicles. Being in Ohio if you don't do something your car will literally disintegrate from the salt slurry the state uses in the winter.
Dan, those like you,who can, do. Those who can't, critique.
Love it... Camaro Time😊
❤❤ love your videos awesome content😊
Dan, I believe the previous owner installed big-block front springs. I installed those on my '69 and it sat at the same height (with a small block). The rears are 6 cylinder, which racers preferred as they're lighter and get fitted with traction devices anyway.
great work dan
Time for another good one 👍👍
No under coating. Wire wheel trunk floors and primer only. Let everyone see what needs to be done

Nice progress!
a layer of printing, and a layer of color!!!
Tail end came out nicely it’s a car again ❤😅
Loved this video Dan hate lookin Mondays but mur days are good too
Nice work Dan and Dani
I say undercoat the bottom and primer the body. For your best price for the sale.
Thanks for sharing this video with us
So much less butchery than the 67 good job
Love the work and all the cars!
Great Job Dano looking more like a car every day
Great job Dan that camairo is coming along so fast it'll be sold in no time 😮
Dude!!! Same old same old!!! Bring on the pink tri5!!!✌️
Dani cool bit of paning around one camaro in shed another 55 in other shed and nova in front of shed very cool
Nice work so far! Thanks for sharing your wisdom, Dan! 😁👍
Such a bad ass ride..👍👍
Hey man.. looking at the top of the quarters from the rear, both top corners look to be pulling in and down a good 1/8..It looks like it might be keeping your tail pan from coming up all the way and giving those wonky gaps..
You the man Dan
Good video....could have used 2 years ago... done same on my 68 36:06 36:07
I like this one better than the first one.
Dan, check out the 2025 Nova SS. It looks like a Vet and a Camaro merged and became one car. 👍👍
Primer and go that saves you money time and who ever gets her can upgrade to what they want
good job!
Sweet!
Dedication
Dan, it is obvious to me that even though you call it buyer beware rusty junk...you are taking more time than most will to make the fitment proper before welding those panels. ACES to you for the hand you have been dealt!
Is there really only 3 of us girls that support the channel?? I feel honored!😊😊
We gotta stick together!
Dan love your videos.
A reason why it may be high in the front, could have big block springs in the front.
I'm digging the Camaro builds still here for the tri -5 stuff great work as always. These unfinished cars all have there own story some dreams just die I guess and/or life gets in the way. I have a co-worker that has a 68 Firebird it's been apart since the late 80's or early 90's. He hasn't touched it in the ten years I've been working with him I figure it will never get done. I myself got roped into finishing my dads 67 BSA 3 decade rebuild some guys just switch gears or throw in the towel and go golfing.
Hey, man. I always watch but I'm not a commenter. I dig your show. What you do essentially is exactly what my Dad and I and my friends were doing in the 60's and 70's (with very limited budgets 😄). Anyway I was digging around in the barn and found a good passenger seat (black vinyl, minus headrest), inside door panel, window crank etc. for a '69 Camaro. Probably had it since 1976. It's too much of a hassle to try to sell stuff sometimes. If you want it you can have it if you are willing to pay for shipping from Ohio. I'm not sure how to ship it, and it may not even be worth the cost to ship it. Just a random thought. Keep up the quality content. I like to watch it with my morning coffee.
I appreciate it man! Unfortunately shipping ti canada is brutal
@@DDSpeedShop Yeah, that's what I kinda figured. Sometimes free stuff is not even worth the trouble or cost, right?
@@DDSpeedShop Well, if you ever find yourself in eastern Ohio, stop by my garage and we'll just toss it in the back of the Nomad.
@@DDSpeedShop My cousin and I decided we are going to make it a shop chair out of it. Now to make the idea a reality in a crude but effective manner.
Love the editing on the grinding noise, sounds like a dentist’s drill now!
My favorite Camaro is the split Bumper 70 to 73!
Doesn't look like one of "Dean's Greasy Flips" from CWM.
Oh and with the 55 nomad in the back ground
you're making a name for yourselves in 1st gen camaros as much as 2-door ddss tri-fives.
Dan says he doesn't like Camaros, but I'm not convinced
THOSE WHO FAIL TO LEARN FROM HISTORY ARE DESTINED TO REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKE...
Lets Go Danny get r done!
Go Dan!
May have big block springs in the front end. That'll make it sit high.
Hi Dan you should buy one of those knock off eastwood barrel
Sander stripper from princess auto to remove quickly from Camaro.
Nice ! 🏴☠️
Should put clecos on your list as well.
Good to see another one where it needs to be. Getting knocked back together
Dont buy an ESAB welder. 6 years and mine croaked. Maybe 6 rolls of wire through it. Still shopping for a new low budget welder.
Maybe forego the filler. Next guy may want to get it acid dipped. Or blasted.
You make it looks easy for body work man I got hard time fixing my truck box all 4 corners are rotted out the box out holding on by 2 bolts to hold the bed
