I truly appreciate every moment of this tribute to Bobby Darin. He was such a Tremendously talented singer and performer. I feel so blessed to have had his music in my life. Thank you, and God Bless
Bobby Darin was so modest. Even with all the accolations they were giving him, he still tried to deflect each compliment and give it to the other person saying "I owe it all to you" and things like that. He really was the greatest human being, so much talent and yet so humble!
Thank you so much for posting these video’s. The world is a richer place because of Bobby Darin. Not just the great music he made that we still get to enjoy, but the great human being he was! I especially enjoyed seeing how much he loved his friends and family and how much they loved him. Sammy Davis Jr, what a great guy. No wonder I loved him as a kid. And George Burns affection for Bobby, awesome.
Bobby Darin died at only 37 from post-op heart surgery complications. How he touched so many lives so young. He would learn a few years after this show that his sister was actually his mother, and he went into seclusion, taking this revelation really hard. RIP Bobby.
I looked forward every week as a kid waiting to this show. Loved BobbyDarn. Has a crush on him till he marry Sandra Dee but I was ok with that, I like her very much too
So funny that the show was sponsored by Lilt home perms,so long ago but like yesterday, I was a very young kid, but my parents had all Bobby's music, & used to blast it from the Hi Fi, it sounded great, the bass was amazing on those!
This was way before he met Sandra Dee and married and had Dodd Mitchell. Dodd, sure looks like his daddy. Glad he didn't inherit his dad's heart issues. He made it to 37, that's better then 16. Sandra, was a little beauty, to bad they divorced. She loved him all to the way to the grave.
I'm glad they didn't bring it up. That would have been morbid, rather than a celebration, for all, especially Bobby. He knew about it, that was hard enough.
Bobby was overcome with sadness at the mention of his Grandmother's Passing..8 years later, when he was 31, Nina, his real mother, told Bobby the truth, unbelievable!!😢 🕊💞🙏
@frank02111 Talk about narcissim..you are the perfect example of the textbook case. In addition, having known Bobby since 1959 (Chez Paree, Chicago), until one year prior to his untimely death on Dec. 20, 1973, "Beyond The Sea," didn't even come close to representing the "real" Bobby Darin." No wonder that it was never considered, for an Academy Award. One of the shoddiest representation of a Biography. No wonder that Kevin Spacek, hasn't appeared in a movie, since.
omg, I never knew this about Bobby. Amazing, I guess to keep honor in the family mom claimed the baby to keep her daughter pure and innocent. I wonder who the father was? Amazing, Mom and sis are really Grandmother and Mom.
bobby found out that his real mother was his sister nina when he was 32. his "mother" (really his grandmother polly) felt compelled to tell him because he had political ambitions. after that he dropped his political ambitions and went downhill for a period of time...
Yeah, but it was just a different time then, the same thing happened to Jack Nicholson, a reporter called him and told him, which he told that reporter he was crazy, but called a family member and they confirmed it, his mother and sister had already passed, but I loved Jack Nicholson response, he called the reporter back and told him he admired those two women even more for raising him so well!
@@christinephillips6271 His Mother aka as his Grandmother "Polly" told him. I am sorry but I am confused had she not already passed...I mean obviously as they just mentioned she died of a stroke befor "This is your life" and he had no idea or anybody else yet. So sorry I dont believe his Grandmother told him. His politic ambition was near the end of the 60"s.
Bronx HS of Science had a fairly good music library that was extremely popular with students on their lunch periods. Also had a terrific jazz band. That was in the 70s.
I agree, the film with Spacey as Darrin, did not do any kind of justice to truth. Is definitely not a biography...purely fiction based on what I know of him and the lovely Sandra Dee. The truth should be interesting enough, for Pete's sake!
Agreed. A person has to be cracked to want to watch Spacey as Darin. There are abundant videos on Bobby and Bobby's performances. Those are treasure. Who needs karaoke/copying, when you can have the REAL GREAT DEAL.
The woman who raised him as his "mother" was actually his grandmother. This was NOT uncommon in America, "Land of the Free" but intolerant of natural mistakes.
@@hategreed1 "Natural mistakes" ...she was about thirteen when she got pregnant, still a child. " Land of the Free" doesn't mean you can do ANYTHING you please.
Probably mentioned elsewhere, but I think Bobby’s sister was really his mother. He didn’t find out until 1967 or so. But he seemed like such a loving guy.
@@terrybear5398 Yes but no one else knew that yet... of course least of all Bobby.....That really must have felt like even more of a pull on the heart strings to Nina when "This is your Life came calling for her to be on the show" Now to have to take it a step further and be a BIG huge liar on national TV EEEK.....I guess what more can you do your already into up to your neck might as well stick your whole head in now. Ugh .... Just a hunch hear but I think the husband was let in on the family secret too.....
What do you think started world war two?? Why do you think we bombed them, b/c we didn't have anything better to do??? Why do you think we sent so many young men(my own father was 15 yrs. old when his father signed papers saying he was 17yrs old)to war and so many died?? Open a book and learn about the war.
I loved seeing this. He left us too early….💔

Fantastic analogy of a fine person
What a life ....he was just 37 when he passed ! WOW what he did in those short years !

Right on the table,too
..a horrible way way to die!
This is so good❤
I love watching this TV show on him - I like him esp at this young age :-)
Elvis Presley went to Pearl Harbor in 1961 and did a charity benefit concert to raise money to save it.. He succeeded. Bless his heart.
One of the greats. Such a beautiful voice and handsome man.

This is great, but in a way it was premature. In just a few more years he would marry Sandra Dee, become a father and get an Oscar nomination.
They never talked about his heart problems when he was young. The doctors told his mom that he would only live to around 16.
I'm glad they didn't bring it up. That would have been morbid, rather than a celebration, for all, especially Bobby. He knew about it, that was hard enough.

Recently bought old movies and "Come September" was one. He upstaged (accidently) the others, (except Rock) If only life was like a good ol' Rom-Com!
Boy miss Sammy though both of them Rat Pack! good ole days !
L ove. It Thank You
@OnCloudNine62 Bobby and Sandra met, when they both co-starred in "Come September," that starred Rock Hudson and Gina Lollobrigida, in the early 60's.
Great
can you imagine thinking these are your niece and nephews then finding out they are your bothers and sister

I don't understand? Was Bobby's older sister the one who had which kids?
Supposedly Nina still would not give up that info even to Bobby on his death bed how sad....
Look up Sam Tellerico on You Tube to get the answer to who his father was
This has the GREATEST use of a laugh track I have ever heard, 2:54 and 3:10 are brilli
ant!!
Rest in peace
Some of my family have heart conditions
Those are his half siblings, not niece and nephew b/c his 'sister' is his Mother!
Nina is the mother if bobby darin
Bobby married Sandra Dee in 1960
THEIR son Dodd was born in 1961
This Is Your Life
for Bobby Darin aired
1959
Why wasn't Sandra Dee included....
If they make another biography movie of Bobby Darin, they should use Shia Labeouf as he looks and sounds alot like Bobby...I'd see that movie!!!
Thanks for uploading. Bit sad that his Mother kept pretending to be his "Sister". How long after this did Darin find out the truth ?

What I have read is that it was his "sister" who told him the truth in the late '60s -- that she was actually his mother.
Where is Sandra Dee his wife?
His mother was Nina, the person he had always thought was his older sister.
I love Bobby Darin. Always will
What a terrible blow!! Can you imagine? I would have been furious.
Btw ahmet was the only one that never showed up.
It is strange to view this knowing the family deception about his mother. I wonder if Bronx HS of Science is still giving out that award?
