Judy Berends I read that Dodd co-produced a stage play about his parents a few years ago. I was hoping it would be turned into a movie, but no news yet. When Beyond the Sea, the movie about Sandra and Bobby was first announced many years ago, the stars were supposed to be Drew Barrymore and Johnny Depp, which seemed like perfect casting to me, but when the movie was finally made about 10 years later, the stars became Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey, which was a big mistake. I guess because he produced the movie, nobody, even Dodd, could stop Kevin from playing Bobby.
I agree about Dodd. He's truly unique among children of Hollywood stars. It's good that he has gone into producing instead of into acting. I wish he had produced the movie Beyond the Sea. He would have chosen the best to play Sandra and Bobby. I didn't like Kate Bosworth as Sandra and, especially, Kevin Spacey as Bobby at all. I also hated that scene where Bobby seemed to be complaining about Sandra being known as Gidget. Sandra was most known for Gidget but she was known also for other classics like Imitation of Life, A Summer Place, Portrait in Black, The Reluctant Debutante, Tammy Tell Me True, etc.
Dodd has a strong resemblance to his father and seems like a very nice man.. And it's heartwarming that he has a happy long-. time marriage. His parents would be very happy about the life he's made for himself!
What a guy. The Darins did a good job with their son. He was truly loved and it shows. What a class act. He is very handsome as was his father....looks just like him. We still have a piece of Bobby still with us.

In the late 80's I owned a small Italian restaurant in Point Loma, Every day Dodd would come in with his girl friend at the time. Dodd did not tell me that he was the son of Bobby Darin till we became friends. And I must say that when he told me I looked at him and saw the resemblance. He looked so much like his dad. Dodd is down to earth. A fine young man.

Now I MUST get the book. I always regarded Bobby Darin as a top notch entertainer. It's a great satisfaction to see that his son held him in such high regard. We both lost our dads at 12 years old. I had the good fortune to hunt and fish and explore with my day. My dad used to sit in the living room after dinner and sing while playing guitar and was totally committed to his family.

I remember reading about him when he was a little boy. Because his parents were always covered by press, and always in the fan magazines, he was often in there too. It's so great to know that this little boy turned into a wonderful man who stood beside his mother and was able to get through losing his father, that he wasn't consumed by Hollywood. His father would be so proud of him. And Bobby Darin was a great entertainer.

‘Beyond the sea’ is one of my favourite songs even though it was recorded a few years before I was born, and Bobby Darin was an exceptional and so very talented man in many respects. I’ve never seen his son before, but it was like Bobby suddenly being back among us again. The likeness is remarkable and heartwarming.
What a wonderful son these two fabulous entertainers raised! I read Dodd’s book when it came out and considering the hardships both his parents endured during their lifetimes, God gave them a sweet, caring son to ease their burdens. I loved all of Sandra’s movies and still play Bobby’s CDs. I was a teen when “Mack the Knife” was a huge hit and I remember riding around in the summer listening to it on KDWB in Minneapolis. Those were the days!
You can hear him pause and give thanks in most all of the sentences. Truly humble, respectful and caring. World, get a clue, this is real Greatness. RIP Bobby Darin.

Bobby Darin was one of those entertainers that defied category. He was in a league of his own, night club crooner, rock and roll idle, gifted folk singer, he did it all and he did it all masterfully. We can only wonder where his career would have taken him had he lived even an average lifespan. His son has good reason to be proud.

The first I noticed his eyes, so, I think, particularly his eyes are his father. Maybe his eyebrows are his mother but the eyes definitely his GREAT father. He is handsome Man.

When I was about 17, I went to a Bobby Darín and Trini Lopez show in Leicester. During the interval I and another girl were allowed to go to the dressing-room to get autographs. Trini Lopez was a bit off-hand but Bobby Darin was very nice. When I asked if I could try his guitar, he showed me how to play finger-style. I've never forgotten how kind he was and how he helped me to improve my playing.
I'm kind of surprised or taken aback about Trini López being 'a bit off-hand' with you. I once spoke to him over The telephone off the air in an interview he was giving to a radio station here in New York City, and he was very polite, nice.
Getting to know more about Bobby Darrin and Sandra Dee you realize how special they both were, but they were only human and had their ups and downs just like everyone else. Stardom is not " great all the time" . It brings with it an illusion that slowly disappears and leaves one in a world that is hard to cope with once the glitter and lights go out. The best accomplishment Bobby Darrin and Sandra Dee had in life is their son who turned out to be a wonderful young man. He was their greatest gift in life.
Dodd is a beautiful mix of his sweet parents. Both his parents were wonderful. Being they both had some past issues, it’s very sad they couldn’t make it though life together. Brought us lots of joy!
Dodd is a great son. Were lucky to have him as a part of those two legends, Bobby & Sandra to remember them by. My moms only brother had the same illness as Bobby did and we lost him when he was only 25yrs of age, in 1953.
When I was 14 in about 1957 your dad was my idol. I loved him in a way I still can never describe. From 1962 thru 1973 I sang, toured lounges both in North America and abroad, mostly in Europe. Anyway, blessings to you, your family and thank you for your families endurance and stamina thru the years. God loves his children and though we don't understand why, some who get the gift of music are here for short times and others just don't ever seem to go away. I wore out my45 RPM of Mack The Knife. Love to all.
Dodd does seem like a humble, smart, intelligent, kind, gentle & articulate fellow. And yes, very good looking ! His dad & mom clearly did a wonderful job raising him !
Dodd looks so much like his dad but there's a little of his mom in his smile and cheeks. I heard that he has a daughter who looks a lot like his mom. Hopefully, we'll get to see her in movies someday.

I am glad I saw this. I saw Dodd skate board past my house on north st in Bayonne NJ in the mid 1970s. Sandra Dees Grand mother lived 3 house next to mine what a great son Dodd.So glad I saw this clip I wondered what he was doing now. Walter Krall Bayonne.

Bobby Darren is one of my most favorite singer/actors ever. I watched a t.v. special he put on right before surgery. His talent and sexy good looks made it a great experience to watch. I was so saddened to learn he didn't survive that surgery he had shortly after that show. His handsome son had a Father to be proud of.

I read Dodd Darin's book, Dream Lovers, about his famous parents a while back and I have to say I loved it. It was such a well written book and an easy read, very interesting. I loved the way he would write about Bobby in detail and then switch to Sandra Dee in the next chapter. I've read a lot of biographies of famous people and I have to say this is my favorite. Highly recommend his book for Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee fans. They would be so proud of their son who adored them both and wrote a terrific book honoring them.

Albeit he is the spitting image of his dad, I noticed in the clip when Dodd is a young child, I can also see his mom in him through his facial expressions. He mostly favored his dad, but the facial expressions are clearly his mom. What a beautiful child he was & today is quite a handsome man.
So handsome like his father. How I miss Bobby, fell in love the first time I saw him perform. He was one of our greatest entertainers and made every song perfect. Such a lost way too soon.

Well his dad died when Dodd was 12 years old. That is the real tragedy, his dad not living to see him as the fine man he grew up to be.

He was a solid actor, too. His best performance was in Captain Newman M.D., for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

I went to see Bobby Darin on the Liverpool empire in the late 1950s what a showman he was absolutely fabulous .
+Patricia Lawson I saw him in a small theater in California in the '60s. He was one of the half-dozen greatest entertainers of the time. In my opinion, today's entertainers aren't even close.

When I was about 17, I went to a Bobby Darín and Trini Lopez show in Leicester. During the interval I and another girl were allowed to go to the dressing-room to get autographs. Trini Lopez was a bit off-hand but Bobby Darin was very nice. When I asked if I could try his guitar, he showed me how to play finger-style. I've never forgotten how kind he was and how he helped me to improve my playing.

I'm kind of surprised or taken aback about Trini López being 'a bit off-hand' with you. I once spoke to him over The telephone off the air in an interview he was giving to a radio station here in New York City, and he was very polite, nice.
Getting to know more about Bobby Darrin and Sandra Dee you realize how special they both were, but they were only human and had their ups and downs just like everyone else. Stardom is not " great all the time" . It brings with it an illusion that slowly disappears and leaves one in a world that is hard to cope with once the glitter and lights go out. The best accomplishment Bobby Darrin and Sandra Dee had in life is their son who turned out to be a wonderful young man. He was their greatest gift in life.
Dodd is a beautiful mix of his sweet parents. Both his parents were wonderful. Being they both had some past issues, it’s very sad they couldn’t make it though life together. Brought us lots of joy!

Dodd is a great son. Were lucky to have him as a part of those two legends, Bobby & Sandra to remember them by. My moms only brother had the same illness as Bobby did and we lost him when he was only 25yrs of age, in 1953.

When I was 14 in about 1957 your dad was my idol. I loved him in a way I still can never describe. From 1962 thru 1973 I sang, toured lounges both in North America and abroad, mostly in Europe. Anyway, blessings to you, your family and thank you for your families endurance and stamina thru the years. God loves his children and though we don't understand why, some who get the gift of music are here for short times and others just don't ever seem to go away. I wore out my45 RPM of Mack The Knife. Love to all.
Bobby Darin - I was a big fan. My hubby and I saw him perform in Vegas in the sixties. What an entertainer he was!

Dodd looks so much like his dad but there's a little of his mom in his smile and cheeks. I heard that he has a daughter who looks a lot like his mom. Hopefully, we'll get to see her in movies someday.
I agree. Because of his dark coloring people see the paternal resemblance, but if you look past that part, his mouth and eyes remind me very much of his mother.

Not only is the spitting image of his wonderful father Bobby. He is also an absolute gentleman. I love the story of Bobby waking up and feeling useless. But once he shut the door and left the apartment, he felt like Cary Grant! I bet many of us relate to that?! His parents did a brilliant job raising this man. Beautiful interview.

12/22/2019 I bought "Come September" recently and love watching it over and over. There is something very special happening when Bobby and Sandra are on screen together! Dodd is gorgeous, like his parents.

I am glad I saw this. I saw Dodd skate board past my house on north st in Bayonne NJ in the mid 1970s. Sandra Dees Grand mother lived 3 house next to mine what a great son Dodd.So glad I saw this clip I wondered what he was doing now. Walter Krall Bayonne.

Bobby Darren is one of my most favorite singer/actors ever. I watched a t.v. special he put on right before surgery. His talent and sexy good looks made it a great experience to watch. I was so saddened to learn he didn't survive that surgery he had shortly after that show. His handsome son had a Father to be proud of.

I read Dodd Darin's book, Dream Lovers, about his famous parents a while back and I have to say I loved it. It was such a well written book and an easy read, very interesting. I loved the way he would write about Bobby in detail and then switch to Sandra Dee in the next chapter. I've read a lot of biographies of famous people and I have to say this is my favorite. Highly recommend his book for Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee fans. They would be so proud of their son who adored them both and wrote a terrific book honoring them.

Albeit he is the spitting image of his dad, I noticed in the clip when Dodd is a young child, I can also see his mom in him through his facial expressions. He mostly favored his dad, but the facial expressions are clearly his mom. What a beautiful child he was & today is quite a handsome man.
