I agree that weather makes a difference in how you taste pipe tobacco. And it’s nice to share the experience with those who may not have been previously exposed to it but might appreciate it. I was sitting outside a cigar shop, where the scent of cigar was omnipresent, yet the English I was smoking persisted through the air and caught the attention of a young lady walking by. She commented that the pipe tobacco smelled lovely. I thanked her. That was nice.

Quite excellent tips for traveling. Airstream trailers will get a bump from this video too. Making pipe smoking, traveling, and Airstream s great again 🇺🇲

Thank you for your videos. I enjoy them very much. I am 53 years old and have been a cigarette, and occasional cigar smoker off and on for most of my life, with intentions of taking up the pipe for many years, but never had anyone to teach me the nuances of the culture. My grandfather showed me at a young age how to make a pipe from a corn cob and a piece of river cane for the stem. Those pipes may not have been very "proper" but it worked and seemed proper enough for me to smoke the "rabbit tobacco" he also showed me. He left me his favorite Dr. Grabow, "Grand Duke", and his "store bought" cob he loved. They both were taken by house fire years ago, but I've been thinking more about taking up pipe smoking these last several years as a compliment to my fly tying, and fly fishing hobby which he also taught me at a young age. Thank you sir for the work you put in with this channel I do truly enjoy your videos, and am learning a lot of those "nuances, techniques" grand-pa didn't get to teach me. God bless you sir.

Great video. Really like that leather pipe and tobacco roll. I work with leather and will make myself something similar.
BTW, from an Australian who's not used to your accent, it's very interesting and easy to listen to. I usually find American accents abrasive (probably funny to hear from an Australian) but yours is a very smooth version. Reminds me of older movies of the south.
    Cheers.

I love seeing what kind of tools and storage other guys who share the hobby have, some people call it cigarbage, but to me I like the lighters, cutters, pipe bags and so on, and seeing what other people have. It's very interesting and inspiring in terms of future purchases.

Late in seeing this one, but did enjoy. I sold my camper last year, but did enjoy the serenity of camping lakeside. Sitting by a fire late into the evening or early morning with a good drink does a body good. I didn't smoke a pipe back then, but there's no denying that a pipe would have been a perfect complement to those situations. Thanks for putting out quality content.

I enjoyed seeing the different pipe pouches. I go to Harbor Freight and get there Apache travel case (pelican knock off). inexpensive, and can be tossed around and not damage your pipes and other stuff in the case.

Always take three or four favorites and a couple of tins of favorite tobacco, tamper, cleaners, lighters. Favorite bags are repurposed Coach clutches and shoulder bags…excellent leather and most have some pockets inside for accessories. Maybe a bit eccentric but I’d rather put the money into good pipes. I’ve done this for years and it works well. Black bags blend in well with car floor mats and are safe from prying eyes. Every time I leave the house, I have a pipe and tobacco with me. I rarely drive less than an hour to favorite destinations so there’s always time for most of a full bowl.
    Good video, thanks. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

My family and I really enjoy camping in our travel trailer as well. We are in southern California and we like to make it up to the top of northern California to the big redwoods. This is my first year smoking a pipe and I cannot wait to bring all my goodies and spend some quality time around the trees and the campfire with my pipe and a few good tobacco blends.

This was great. I liked how you decide to try new blends on the road. Good take on it. I always struggle with that prospect because I worry if I don't like it (the new said blend) I will miss a blend that I KNOW I DO like. :)

I would be that guy to ask what blend you’re enjoying at the camp ground. And spend a while picking your brain and enjoying a pipe with you under the awning. As a novice I’m trying to learn more. RUclips is good but sometimes you just need to sit down and have a conversation with a friend that knows more than you do. Maybe I’ll make the trip down from Asheville to the Old Carolina Pipe Cottage one day.

Another great video, Alan. You are spot on with the weather being a big factor in the enjoyment of a blend. As I type this, I'm enjoying a bowl of molto dolce, a blend that I had written off as too sweet, too goopy. And yet tonight, as the rain comes down, I'm in Piper heaven.

I just wanted to know for my own ideas, how many bowls does the average pipe smoke or most smoke in a day? I usually smoke 3-4 and I find that to be a lot. For me that also depends on the tobacco I have on hand. I also like to make due with what I have. I like your show a lot because it keeps me interested. I make my own pipe rolls because I see leather myself with a saddle stitch or a speedy stitcher.

Well here's what I suggest: Get a tupperware or other food storage container that has an air-tight seal. If you have pouch tobacco like Captain Black, just put it in the air - tight container. Perhaps you want just a little of this and a little of that. Then take some out of the pouch or tin and put the tobacco in a ziplock bag. Don't forget to write the name of the blend on the ziplock bag using a sharpie, or you may forget what blend you have. Take some pipe cleaners, the amount you would need, your lighter, lighter fluid (you don't want to run out and not be able light your pipe) or you can take two disposable lighters (take two, just in case) And two pipes. ( give one a rest if you're going for several days...switch back and forth) Put everything in some type of carrying case you like and can find, and their you are.

Good video... For me it's a lot to do with the weather. I really get a craving to smoke my pipe through fall and winter, I like English blends. I only will occasionally smoke in the summer, and tend to stick to lighter stuff like Virginia blends. But to be honest, I'll mainly smoke some cigars during summer.

Yes sir yes sir you got that right...couple years back visited Atlantic Beach City and had me sum Peterson Atlantic (just to keep a balance- same color socks if you will) enjoyed that smoke sublime. Smoked the same away from the ocean and it was good but it lost a lil magic. Same goes for snow ... rain...& blazing summer nights. The old pipe(s) just full of surprises all the time. Baccy dynamics. Nice pouches btw hope to grab a canvas one from TCS next time in stock. Cheers! ✌😎

Luv you! vocabulary, "accent", personality, knowledge, ideas. 👍👍 BUT....in WA tobacco for a common citizen is limited 2 aquisition from
(i feel low end/questionable) 'smoke shops' which sell primarily cigerette/vap/pot related products. And its illegal to smoke actual smoke products in public. Its a shame ameriCa is now ameriKa.
