Some of the best pipe experiences I’ve had were cheap tobacco out of a cheap pipe. For all of our trying to force a transcendent experience of any kind, the experience will find you when it’s ready to present itself.

Thank you for disclosing the name of the manufacturer and blend of tobacco that you enjoy in each video. As a new pipe smoker it helps me to get recommendations from gentlemen such as Mutton Chop, you, and The Spurgeon Piper. The three of you provide good background to my pipe time, after prayers of course. God be with you.

Maybe its just me, but I enjoyed how within 21 minutes the video went from late afternoon light to nearly dark. As I get older, I notice the simple beauty in things that I always took for granted in my youth. Perhaps youth truly is wasted on the young.

@@clips8813 Honestly, you're never too young for the elders. I'm in my 50's now but growing up I had tons of friends my age but I also spent a lot of time hanging out with my dad an his friends. Then in my early twenties I spent a lot of time with my company's owner and and his peers. Most of the things that I have learned over the years that were actually good solid life lessons and philosophies came from listening to people significantly older than me.
Hang out with your elders as often as possible. You can form some very significant friendships even when there are years between you.

Thank you so much for this video Allen. Really needed it. I've felt so dispondent at church lately, because I've been to many different churches and they all believe in the name it and claim it rubbish and walk around church and society like they mini god's and know it all and are better than everyone else, but hearing you I realize that being Christan you don't have to take things seriously and that I should just ignore how people are behaving in church. Just follow Jesus and do what He said we must do and say and not listen to the concentrated dribble of people in the church, because it just gets you down. Like you say we don't have to have everything figured out, that's God's job. Going off the subject a bit, I know what you mean when you say that spending time by yourself reflecting while having a good pipe or cigar really helps you mental health. I used to smoke cigars before I got married 14 years ago and my wife isn't a big fan of them, because like many people on the church, she thinks it's sort of a sin. I know that to be untrue myself, but since I've stopped having cigars and being able to sit and reflect on life. I've become so miserable and unhappy. Always wound up like a rubber band and have no release. From Don

One fun little trick I learned from one of the greats, Mr. Samuel Clemmons (Mark Twain). If you're going to be out and about doing a lot of walking, a pipe sock can be a magical tool. You fill that sucker up with some tobacco before you leave. Drop your pipe in (bowl first) and close it up around the stem. Toss it in your pocket (a breast pocket works best) and as you are walking, the tobacco will make it's way into the bowl and pack itself. I find this works best when going on walks or yard work where lugging around a pipe roll becomes tedious. If you want to smoke the entire time, you can do a two pipe swap (one smokes while the other packs) or enjoy a cigar between the pack. Also becomes VERY handy when it's super windy out since you won't be fighting the wind to pack your pipe.

The CB Royal is an excellent tobacco that provides an all day mild smoke with a medium topping of vanilla and perhaps some other flavors which I didn't really notice - Its as good as many of the $20-25 blends I've bought and it cost me $11.00 - Plus its cut perfectly and stays lite with the perfect amount of moisture. There is a reason CB has been around a long time - Its good tobacco - BTW, Haunted Bookshop isn’t my favorite, but every now and then I’m looking for a Smokey, Dry somewhat spicy smoke and then it’s ok, but that’s not too often.

I try to practice live and let live. They are entitled to their ways regardless of what I feel. We don't have to friends we can have mutual respect and let that be enough. Just because someone isn't my friend doesn't mean they are my enemy. I'll try to practice justice and tolerance and even try to be helpful if I can be. Chances are however we'll not ever be friends. Now you hit on a great video topic. I have way to many pipe. Way to many tobacco’s for that matter. Actually last night I was trying to find any videos or any articles online on good pipe styles with good tobacco types to go with it. There really isn’t anything out there. Cowboy coffee is a great blend!

I completely agree about Haunted Bookshop. It is a blend that I have tried and tried but just do not agree with. Many try to explain to me why I should like it and all I say is to each there own. I have figured out I am just not a burley forward person. Great video……

One other point I want to mention is please make a video about Old Sam. I suspect that could be an entertaining series of anecdotes.

Hey Alan, in the video you made of recommended burley blends, you name Solani Aged Burley Flake as your favorite burley blend. However, in this video you say that you’ve tried to like it, but you can’t. I’m a bit confused. Is it because the tin you showed in that video was from 2005 and aged?

Love the channel! I got a question about a Peterson Donegal Rocky 03. Why does it gurgle when I smoke?

I never had trouble with any gelding, but an arab mare was dangerous. Would spook, for some reason, on short grass. She wouldn't bolt, but drop down on all fours leaving me high and dry, and then shoot straight up in the air and catch me coming down. Painfull, Then she would be contrite as hell. Gave her to a girl who had spent a few years as her friend. She had no trouble with her and became a great trail horse in the Oregon cascades. I think that mare just missed her friend. Smoke em if you got em.
