I love it! You Strive for perfection and you achieved excellence! I miss you vlogging.
Such a cute top. I love stripes. The stripes are so small that not matched would not make a big difference and I don’t anyone would notice. The neckline is the most important as you said. Lovely. Yes, please Christmas gifts would be nice. And also more sewing, lol.
Great tips on pattern matching Cheryl and it looks great on you! I wouldn't have even noticed the stripes! Life's too short to be stressing over stripes! 😉 TFS 👍❤
thanks Hazel 🌷
I love the way you explain everything in so much detail without it being boring. The top looks stunning on you. I would rather you kept to clothes,
Perhaps what to wear on Christmas Day .Whatever is decided I'll still be watching.
Aww, thank you Maureen 🌷
Yes yes to Xmas gifts n cosy Cardy!! Xxx
will do Janet thank you 🌷
Your top is gorgeous.... Love a good stripe. If anyone fancies a wider boat-neck, the Grainline Lark Tee has a lovely option. It was my first ever jersey garment, easy to sew up and has opened up whole new world! I'd love to see your Christmas pressie tutorials. Thanks to you, Cheryl. ♥
themonkeypuzzle fab tip, thank you 😘😘
Fabulous top, Cheryl!! Fantastic review of Edie top..
Great information about being more concerned with neckline looking good than matching stripes.... Yes please, more tutorials for Christmas gifts/ideas...
Deana Loves to Sews thank you Deana 😘🌷
The top looks great and I agree, worry about a flat neckline and not about matching the stripes, the neckline is what people will notice and the bit that will make it look homemade in a bad way. And yes please to a Christmas gifts video, Sarah
thank you Sarah ☺️
Great idea for Christmas gifts and maybe Christmas cushion covers. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
thanks Julie ☺️
Lovely top and fabric. Christmas gifts sounds great. Thank you Val🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️
Yes to the Christmas gifts. Little stocking fillers would be fab x
I’m planning to make the edie top very soon, so this review, particularly about the results from different fabrics was very useful. Thank you. Good to have you back btw 😀
This was a lovely top, thank you for being so through. Yes, please do tutorials for gifts. I really look forward to seeing your videos. I also saw a stitch sisters vlog with some fabric for cardies from your shop. Beautiful!
Janice K thank you Janice 😘
Yes please with the Christmas gifts 👍
StuHero will do, thank you 👍🏻😊
What a lovely top! I love your philosophy on stripe matching - stripes are something I’ve avoided so far in sewing as I’m not sure I can be bothered with all the effort of trying to get them to match perfectly!
Christmas tutorials are a great idea 👍 I would also love a tutorial on how you make your shower hats if you have the time! 😊 xxx
Love the red top on you. Thank you for all the great tips.
Lesley Jones thank you Lesley 🌷
Very thorough review Cheryl thank you. Yes please to tutorials.

Barbara Wolcott will do, thank you Barbara 🌷
Love the idea of Christmas gifts! Great video. Thank you!
Looks great, I agree life's too short to perfectly match the stripes. You look great in red. Would love to see it if you do it in your cotton jersey. Love a tutorial, also if you can give a Christmas present ideas list if you have any good gadgets. Always good to have ideas for husband and kids when they want to know what to get you. Glad you are enjoying your new space😊
thanks Helena, fab ideas, I'll try to incorporate a few in my next videos. 🌷

Love 🎄gift ideas
T shirt looks fab. I’d love you to do some tutorials as you have such a clear voice when explaining things 😄
thank you so much Claire ☺️
A Christmas tutorial is a brilliant idea,
Love the top! Yes please to the Christmas gift tutorial! Thank you.
will do, thanks Sara ☺️
I love the top as you made it... the red stripe is lovely on you. Just a suggestion for making the neckline stay: use your serger/overlocker without the needles.... it makes really well cut product.
Eydie K what a fab idea, thank you 💐
Fab top. Even an expensive bought top doesn’t always match the stripes so don’t worry about it xx love the fabric 🤗
Lovely top Cheryl. It’s a nice shape and nips in. I’ve avoided stripes😆but just recently made 2 pairs of striped baby trousers so that was a good practise on small garments. I also found that types of jersey make a big difference and have a very snug cotton jersey Agnes. It is wearable on thin days😂
thanks Ruth, ha ha, I know the feeling well. You always look fabulous though ☺️x
Your top looks great - lovely fabric. I’d love to see your Christmas gift tutorials.
thanks Mary, it's a lovely weight too, feels like a Karen Millen style fabric.x ☺️
Really lovely top Cheryl, I think I sense a lot of happiness from your beautiful new work space, you must love going to work !. Christmas tutorials would be very nice if you have time 🎄
thank you so much Alison, I'm really happy here, thank you for noticing.xx ☺️
Lovely top, especially the red stripes 😊
Yes please to Christmas tutorials. I've already started my Christmas gift list (3 done and started the 4th today - half term next week though so no sewing will be done then 😉) but could always do with some more ideas 😉😀
I feel ya, ha ha so many school holidays!🌷 Here's to plenty of sewing time now they're back.x
Thank you, so much information Cheryl as always. That top looks great on you. If I were you, I would have that M&S onesie on the table behind you, get my tracing wheel out and make a few copies for Xmas pressies. And yes I would love to see you make some Xmas stockings and cushions.
thanks Mary 🌷
Such a lovely top, hope to try to do one soon. Some Christmas tutorials would be great!
will do, thanks Angie ☺️
As usual enjoyed video would love to see tutiorals for Christmas cushion and stocking☺👍
thank you Kathleen ☺️
That Edie looks great on you Cheryl but I was surprised it was that pattern. When I made my usual size 14, the neckline was too wide and straight across so it felt too high at the front of my neck. I modified the shoulders in by 2 inches and rounded the front neck down and now it looks exactly the same shape as yours. I’ve made 2 already and more are planned.
thanks Linda 🌷 I think the fabric choice makes it look different sometimes. I didn't alter anything other than may have sewn a smaller seam allowance on the neckline.x
Hi Cheryl, I'm loving your Edie top and you always look great in red 😍. When I get around to buying the second Sew Over It capsule wardrobe, I'll definitely make this...such a useful style 👌. I enjoy anything that you put out Cheryl so looking forward to your next vlog 💝😁😘
thank you as always Sally, I appreciate your kind words and the time you take to let me know every time ☺️x
Absolutely fabulous post. M & S could never compete with your meticulous attention to detail. .. I will always look at striped garments more closely now !.. P.S. Looking forward to your Christmas Gifts blog .. especially the Christmas Stockings you made.
thanks Mum ☺️ xxx
Like the idea of Christmas tutorials x
Christmas gifts ideas would be great. Not necessarily how to but maybe ideas on what to make?
Always love your vlogs 💕
thank you Kathryn 🌷
I so love listening to you, and your brilliant advice! I’ve never sewn with stripes, but you are so right...who cares if the stripes don’t match! Meanwhile, let’s hear it for random floral fabrics 😂
Karen Dodgson thanks Karen 💐😘
Lovely blouse and you did an awesome job! I had been having problems with my neck lines too, on a few jersey knit blouses I have sewed and where wondering what else I can do to help them lay flatter. Now with your tips I am going to try some interfacing. Thank you and I am a new subbie to your channel and I look forward to more of your videos. Kristie
thanks again Kris 🌷
I think the top fits you perfectly and the vid is very useful as stripes are something I have dealt with reasonably successfully
before but the kneck on similar top I have not managed to stabilize like yours so great hints from you so thanks. As you have somany cosy fabrics in would love to see them and useful christmas gifts would be great.✂️☺️
thank you so much, will do a cosy fabric haul video if that helps.x ☺️
This is a really cute top and I can see why you’re attracted to them...makes for a nice comfortable piece to work in. I would love to see Christmas gifts too! And thank you for the great content you provide!
thanks as always Myra 🌷
I've used Wonderweb hemming stuff for neckline and it worked out ok
Love your podcast. Christmas gift tutorials would be great.
thank you Patricia ☺️
I'd love some Christmas gifts yes please.
Sonia Butler will do Sonia 👍🏻😘
Top looks lovely on you (cant believe you are a 14, you look so petite!) I didnt have quite the same success with my Edie, bra straps were on show. I will do it again but will have to do a bit of grading on the size.
thank you 🌷. I think I sewed a slightly smaller seam allowance on the neckline which helped to hide any straps.
Lovely top Cheryl it looks great, Thank you for your honest review :-) I would love to see a christmas gifts tutorial. x
thanks Gaynor 🌷
I would love a Christmas gift tutorial please!
Kelly Bodie will do Kelly 👍🏻🌷
Love your Edie, Cheryl, it looks fab, especially in that fabric and well done on the stripes! Y'know, I think it IS worth spending the time pattern matching stripes and being a bit of a perfectionist - because as sewists we can. After all, what's the point of going to all the effort of making our own clothes if we don't bother with the finishing touches? Each to their own of course, but M&S should certainly know better! I think personally I'd want to add a narrow neck band - turned inside like a bias binding - on this top, as I find that an easier way to finish necklines, rather than just folding over and stitching.
totally agree Jo. Do you know I actually tried a neck band on this pattern and I failed miserably as the shape of it means it won't curve around the shoulder area - it goes into a point so a band stands high. There must be a way though.x 🌷
Oh that's really interesting. Shame it didn't work out - but it looks lovely as is. Jo xx
Great tips Cheryl, I was watching this while making my 3rd Edie & just about to start my 4th, I had them both cut out a couple of weeks ago & already had the interfacing ironed in, so they are relatively quick makes. I wonder why the instructions insert the sleeve like you would a woven top & not on the flat, I've been putting them in on the flat. The stitch length for the zig zag seemed to make my sleeves wavy too, so I double turned them & did them longer & wider, I will be twin needling this next one, as I'm not keen on a zig zag finish if it's noticeable. It's a great basic top & I will wear them a lot in the coming season.
Here's another yes to the Christmas tutorials please.
Sam Chandler thanks Sam, great point about the sleeves, will do that next time. Lovely pattern in the end. I can see why you’re on your 3rd 👍🏻😊
Your T looks cute in red and I am not a red fan. When I match stripes I start at the bottom where it shows the most and work my way up to the underarm area where it is not going to show near as much as your arms cover that area very nicely. Because at some point if there is any shaping in the pattern the matching will go off. I never worry about the sleeve insert because of the curve it will not be possible overall. Ready made does not bother to match because there would be too much fabric waste to make it profitable for sale. Like the neck shape on this T, as most of SOI patterns usually end up showing your bra, so this is a great design improvement. Next time make a plain or all over pattern and you will do it all in 1.5 hours. Thanks for the review.
good points, thank you so much ☺️
Looks good to me. If somebody is looking that close to see if the stripes match then you don't want to know them.
Great review, thank you. Clover have fork pins which are good for pattern matching. Would love to see your gifts on Instagram and the tutorials would be great x
thank you so much, ooh yes, I'd forgotten about those fork pins. I need to buy some, thanks for the nudge ☺️ Will do the gifts on Insta too.x
My favourite way of stabilizing neckline is just a machine basting. I don't know its proper name in English but it's a kind of stabilizing stitch. I just sew a seam around the neckline (on the seam allowance) with the longest stitch. It makes sewing the ribbing very easy. Works perfectly everytime. And just like you - I'm fine with the clothes from shops and I'm extremely jugding with the clothes I make myself... :/ I love your stripy top :)
Marta Czajka thanks Marta 💐 Great tip! I’ll have a look on my machine for a similar stitch 👍🏻
I use a regular straight stitch but 4mm long (it's the longest I can get on my machine)
With printing out patterns I use a local co to print out, then I trace off the size I want, making any adjustments for me. This might seem long winded but turns out to be quite economic when you want to have a good fit or do your own hacks to get the most from key wardrobe patterns.
Sonia Butler good call 👍🏻😘
Great review! Sensible stripe advice and shame on M &S
Little tip. I used wonderweb hemming tape instead of staytape or cutting strips of interfacing. I've made 3 now and all my mad aunties want one.......
I'd love Christmas gift tutorials
Thanks Cheryl x
Lynette Cockburn thanks Lynette, great advice about hemming tape, will try that next time 👍🏻😘 Ha ha, your Aunties will love them 👏🏻👏🏻x
Yes please to tutorials😊
Gday Cheryl. Great video. Ah gee, those stripes on the M&S all in one. Your SOI top is great & the red stripes really suit u. How many sheets does that pdf use up, wow! Christmas gift ideas is great. Thanku for sharing. Anna. X
thank you so much Anna, G'day and much love to Oz.xx 🌷 I got the pattern printed out in AO size online so I didn't have to stick it together, but it's 24 pages if you print at home.
@@StitchyBee Haya. 24 pages, wow. Im in the the uk, sorry for the confusion. X
Would love Christmas gift tutorial. See you next week x
lovely, will do, thanks Alyson, see you next week ☺️x
Christmas tutorial would be brilliant. I have two nephews that would love a personalised Christmas stocking each.
lovely, thank you Erica ☺️
Love the top. You did a really great job. I would love to see a tutorial on how you did the neck and the stay stitch etc. Question: If your Singer only does a straight stitch how do you sew all those wonderful designs of knits and so well? I always try and do a stretch stitch or zig zag with knits. My Brother Industrial machine only does straight and reverse so I have a little Bernina for stretchy fabrics. Thanks.
Dianna A thanks Dianna, my Singer sews everything. I rarely zig zag (I have a Pfaff for fancy stitches when I do). I noticed that all my ready-to-wear items are sewn with a straight stitch so I don’t worry about it 😊
Your top is lovely Cheryl. I think you've done a cracking job with the stripe matching. Love how M&S don't give a monkeys as you say! I think life's too short about worrying about getting everything so right, just as long as you're happy with it! Have you tried the Jennifer Lauren Gable Top? Its also only 3 pieces and doesn't need any stabilising at the neckline, so a really quick make! Would love to see your xmas tutorials. Thanks as always xx
ooh thanks Agnes, I haven't tried that pattern yet, fab tip thank you.xx ☺️
Its got quite a high neckline, but I like that x
Xmas tutorial 👍
Christmas tutorials are go 😂
