This is the most comprehensive tutorial I've watched on smooth cut outs. It's clear, concise, and the trainer shows how to use the various cut out tools going from simple examples to harder ones such as a real life person. I learn't so many techniques in just this one tutorial!
No matter what you think you know on the subject, it always pays to watch mr. Ramirez' videos. At least that is my experience.
Mine too.
Thank you, Carl! I'm glad you find my videos useful!
the same here :D I love to watch his tutorials. I always learn something new. Every of his tutorials is "a must" for me
Carl Kristensen , 100% agree. I click all his videos first the like button, then I start watching 🖖
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel they are amazing, thank you for them
Creating smooth cut outs have my nemesis for years. It's going to take me a little time to get comfortable with all the steps, but this lesson has been one of the very best that I've watched.
Thank you, Boris! I'm glad you found it useful!

Arrow keys to fine tune the vector points is GENIUS!! Thanks for that!
Thank you, jrsmoots!
Definitely did not know any of these techniques! Will definitely be watching on repeat to practice them.
👍🙂 I'm glad you found them useful, Sara!
I've heard of all this and I've seen other tutorials do it howeve, you took your time and explained it well so I can better understand it which is the important thing I think in a tutorial.
I appreciate it thank you very much. I learned quite a bit from this tutorial.
You're welcome, Markess! Thanks for the comment!
Damn, just spent hours digging RUclips to find those informations. You are the most straightforward with clear explanations out of all the other RUclipsrs I've seen, thank you so much
The best tutorial I have seen so far. Tried many other ways and the results wasn't like yours. 💯
Wow, this is 1 tutorial I may have to watch multiple times and as always practice, practice, practice & when I think I've got it practice some more to ensure I was right.
You can never practice too much.
Thank you for your patience in making these tutorials & keeping them at a price [free] us pensioners can afford
Photoshop is a hobby tool for me not a business tool as it maybe for others.
You're welcome, Tony! I'm glad you enjoy them!
Absolutely didn't know about vectors in Photoshop. Thank you!
I have been using Photoshop for 10 years (and watching your tutorials a good part of that time) and I never knew how to create a vector mask from a selection. Thank you so much for this! I will be using it frequently.
You're welcome, Mark!
You are the best Photoshop teacher I ever come across on RUclips.
I subscribed.
Very helpful JR, Vector masks were always shrouded in a bit of mystery for me - until now that is! Muchisimas gracias!
You're welcome, R Garlin!
same thing by me, thank you Jesus Ramirez
Another brilliant tutorial Jesús. I've always disregarded vector masks as in Illustrator type of thing, so this was a real eye-opener for me. Thanks!
You're welcome, Ed!
Jesús, I am subbed to quite a number of youtube channels. Your channel is the only one that I have enabled notifications for. Your content is always on point and I have learned pretty much everything I know on photoshop from your channel. Thank you so much for the hard work you put into these. I am sure I am not the only person who appreciates your work!
Thank you so much, Chris! I really appreciate that!
This is amazing way to edit a human figure. Vector mask is new to me. I will definitely work using these techniques as soon as I hit my desk Monday morning!
Sounds good, Rohan!
I didn't know about some of these techniques and processes. I've been struggling for some time with difficult selections of different sorts, and this tutorial will make life a LOT easier. Thank you for making this tutorial, what I learned from it will be extremely useful in the future! I've bookmarked it for future reference.
You're welcome, Joe H!
In the beginning, after LimeWire worked, I used CS-3. Get this, the 'Polygonal Lasso" to cut out rounded objects. I couldn't understand what the 'pentool' was doing with all those Default shapes and crap so I increased the file size huge. I found a Tutorial by Mellissa Evans and it all began to make Sense. The Defaults were the problem. The first Useful page that got me Free from ignorance and my art all over the Earth. 3dmacphee 3dfantasys
This is absolutely the best explanation of how to extract background in photoshop! Great video
Thank you, Walter!
Vielen Dank für alle Ihre Arbeit und totorial . Ich lerne alles von Dir von ganz anfang . . Liebe Grüße
Thanks! I hadn't really even thought about vector masks and the pen tools too much since probably the 90s. This makes so much sense.
You're welcome, Nick!
I really wasn't able to get a teacher in my whole city, I was tired of finding a good teacher for Photoshop, but finally you appeared, Thanks you and Thankyou RUclips for letting me know about Mr. Ramirez's channel.
Thank you, Nishant!
you are great teacher that i have ever seen in youtube.please continue, god bless you
Holy smokes! I could not agree more ! I have never been trained except for the Alphabet in anything worth while. Self taught after that but it only can take you so far. Wait... I had a few good teachers but I was just a kid. It didn't help that I was up all night studying and building radios and things on my own and yakking it up on Ham Radio all over the World. Now We have Mr. Ramirez's channel.
As a Second thought about learning general knowledge about Science and other cool stuff, I have to put in a Mention of Joe Scott, another RUclipsr that does his best to make learning fun. And trust me, Photoshop is fun and Addictive as heck when you get the hang of it!
I always love your tutorials, even though I get lost sometimes, I can always go back over it! Thank you!!!!
You're welcome, PhotoPhix!
Thanks. I've been using Photoshop since CS3. But I've never converted a vector mask to a selection in some of the manners you demonstrated. Excellent. Thanks again!
You're welcome, Leroy!
thank God youtube exists & people like u 👍 😊
I always learn something new watching your channel....thx
You're welcome, Clint!
THE HAIR PART OH MY GOD I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD THAT THANK YOU
I've been using Photoshop for ten years and didn't know this about Vector masks. Great tutorial. Thank you.
You're welcome, David!
There are no words to tell you that you are more than a professor on photoshop.Very helpful and thanks again for sharing your talent. God bless you.
excellent tutorial like always. Thank you so much. you're probably the best teacher on Photoshop technique
You're welcome, אבי הסנר!
He is one of 3 excellent Instructors. 2 out of the 3 RUclips instructors that I like are Adobe Photoshop certified.
Yes, I knew that you can make a path out of a selection.
But what you've been able to teach me is that the Alt (or Ctrl) key
is the magic key for hidden or alternative options. THANKS!
I always thought I already knew most of the tricks in Photoschop.
But then ...
I found your Videos.
Great Job Jesús ;)
Very new to Photoshop and have watched MANY videos about background removal and I was never happy with the results. This tutorial is amazing, for the first time I am over the moon with the result! Thanks so much!
your explanation of adding the fundamentals always help to refresh and comprehend the subject better.
Thank you, Manish!
Nice tutorial Jesús! Combining Masks is a great subject and the Pen Tool are always good to cover. The mention of TO MANY POINTS for a selection is important. Can't tell you how many times I've seen this! Really bogs down a files performance. Keep up the good work. Always appreciated!
Thank you, Matt! I appreciate it!!!
This is awesome, I can't wait to try it out; had absolutely no idea... and I've been working with photoshop for a decade! lol
Thank you, Crystal!
Hello miss can you please tell me what Photoshop version he is using like Photoshop CS6 or something else
I like the slowness and clarity of your instruction. As a beginner, it is extremely helpful.
And thank you for telling us shortcut keys for both pc and mac. Way to go!!
Oh my god. Amazing work , thank you so much for this tutorial. This is very helpful .
Thank you, Kitty!
I swear this is the best lesson about removing edges, bg etc. I've ever seen!)))) The results are just unbelievable О___О Thank you so much for it!
I will Save you a lot more time and better work Like Magic! Check out Remov.bg site and you will be amazed
No, I didn’t realize the vector mask was available for every selection you choose to make. Awesome!! I will be using this so cutouts will be smooth and not pixelated. Thank you!
You're welcome, ItalianJan!
Okay, I've just tried it again after giving myself time to absorb what you're teaching. I have to remove backgrounds from different machines built for roofing and civil engineering. Loads of different shapes and edges to smooth. This is by far the most effective and intuitive lesson I have ever had. I am a complete beginner, yes I've had Photoshop for about five years. But I never understood how to use it until now (and then I'm only learning about vectors) from you. Thank you for relieving me of this burden of feeling inadequate! I will watch over and over until I've mastered the techniques properly.
Bro Please include source files, so that we can practice!

was cool ;for me i had to stop or pause the video to right some things down , still very excellent job
This is the first I've seen selections using vector masks. This is awesome and it appears to be a time saver. Thanks for adding another selection technique to my arsenal.
You're welcome, bluesy dude!
I really like your teachings. Have to watch multiple times to get it but you are pretty clear. I have CS6, however.
it was great watching your video... I usually get lazy to watch long videos sometimes....but your tutorials are worth the time...I am inspired.
I didn't know what the vector mask was used for, but now I do, thanks to you! Thank you, Jesús!!
I wasn’t aware they added the curvature pen tool... very helpful!
👍🙂 I'm glad you found it useful, Ron! Thanks for watching!
You are the best teacher for Photoshop that I have seen in RUclips so far. Thanks
I love the little pointers you throw in while working with the pen tools pointers, no pun intended. Another awesome video!
Thank you, Rigon!
Thanks for this detailed intro to the Vector Mask. I have not used it before, but will try it now.
This guy is a beast at this. I can only imagine what he really knows in photoshop.
Fantastic!
Three examples, each one increasing in difficulty, proved to be no problem thanks to the spot on instruction of Mr Ramirez.
Photoshop has always had the reputation for a steep learning curve, but Jesus and his PTC videos have taken most of the stress and frustration out of the equation.
This is hands down the best tutorial I've watched on how to do this. I've spent days watching countless videos. Thank you so much!
I've been Photoshopping since Photoshop 4.5 and you STILL learn stuff every day. The only trouble I have (at MY age!) is remembering the bloody stuff!! ;-)
Jesus Ramirez, your teaching style is so kool man. So easy to understand. Loved it a lot. Keep this going. Thanks
Wow! Great tutorial - I love how you walk completely through the technique, not assuming that someone (like me) knows the name of the tool or what does, and then explaining the thing's purpose and the concept as you go along. Extremely helpful and great teaching style - can't wait to binge watch more of your tutorials!
I didn't know that. OMG! i learn so much from your training channel. I hope your channel will always be here. I have a hard time sometimes. it takes me a few times to get it right. when I'm work and need to do something i always refer to your channel and I accomplish my project. You have no idea how much I appreciate your teachings. Ps. thank you Terrence Donald
Great tutorial. Thank you!
You're welcome, Rob!
Mr. Ramirez you are absolutely genius. Great tutorial as always
The best Selection video ive seen on RUclips! the 3rd image technique is so perfect thank you so much for sharing this.
You're welcome, Ziko!
I learned so much in this tutorial. Especially how to make vector masks. I've spent a lot more time drawing paths with the pen tools. The methods you showed are so much quicker and accurate; and showing the methods using Adobe Photoshop CC, the apps that I have. Thank you.
Love the technique. I don't use vector masks that much with the pen tool. Just another way to select and mask. I liked it.
Cheers
Every time and every video, I learn something new. Grateful thanks.
You're welcome, Ian!
Jesus, your tutorial has saved me an incredible amount of time. I am new to Photoshop and I have been struggling with selections that are accurate and smooth. Thank you so much!
Jesus saves!
You are the best Photoshop teacher !
You are just AMAZING! The way you are explaining is SHARP and CLEAN !
I had no idea how easy it is to make a vector mask. This information is extremely useful for me! Thank you!!
You're welcome, Fran!
Hi this is Goose with Dreadnought Photo Werkz. I have finally found a place to help me with my Photoshop skills. I will be watching as many of these videos and studying the techniques as I can to help my work flow. Thanks for the lessons!!!!!!!!!
I am on the edge of my seat taking notes...My brain might explode, so much valuable information in these videos!! Thank you!!
I didn't know about the vector thing! been doing photoshop for 3 years and had rough pixelated cut outs! Wish I knew the vector thing sooner! Thanks!
I thought I've seen it all, but I like this method, it is best of two worlds. Thank you Ramirez
You're welcome, bolaji ishola!
Best Tutorial on Vector mask so far, but I must say, this is my first.
Great video. This is going to work quickly for removing products from the backgrounds. Thanks for the insight.
Best selection tutorial I have ever watched - Many thanks
Wow sir. You are really tallented. The tallent you have got and you shared with us.❤️
Really sir you are amazing. This is the best tutorial I've ever seen. I'm going to forget about the select and mask and will use this freature to remove the background in future work.
I am new to photoshop CS6. Thank you, this is interesting but to me very complicated. It will take me forever to work through this.
Best Photoshop tutorials I've watched. Not boring at all, very good quality and good teaching skills. Thank you and keep the good work!
Excellent! Thanks. I began with V.2 but have stayed with V.10 since its release. Sometimes I can adapt, sometimes I cannot.
Fantastic tips. I have been extensively using Photoshop and the selection tool therein but I never knew about Vector Mask and how easy it was to reveal the hair. Great video 👍
The best photoshop tutorial in YT! My work look like pro because of this channel. Thanks so much!
Agree big time s0methingelse. Finally a leisurely step by step tutorial that gives you time to see all the steps/clicks on the menu. I also liked the zoomed in and highlighted red outlined buttons on the menu. Very clear and easy to see. Wish I had seen this video months ago!!! Jumping right in to to these out. Tks yr a star. Subscribed immediately.
I knew about vectors but hadn't used them in Photoshop. The new pen tool is just brilliant now that I know about it. Thanks.
You're welcome, G B!
There's a lot to learn & take in from this video, but you explained it all really clearly. Thank you.
Particularly liked the inner glow tip for the hair!
👍🙂
I am new to photoshop and have just started getting into different techniques to separate subject matter and background. Watching your tutorial has helped me a lot in understanding the different combinations of tools.
Thank you for your clean and in depth content! Your way of explaining the tools has helped me get used to photoshop very efficiently.
I did not know you can create vector masks in Photoshop. Great tutorial.
Ramirez, you amaze me with you deep knowledge of PS. I have been using PS since 15+ years (not as a profession) I am perhaps 1% of what you are. God bless you and your family.
Thank you, Not New! But I'm sure you're way more than that!
Not New 15 years? Wow!!
Have you signed up for his online courses? Incredibly useful.
You are the best photoshop trainer on the internet. Thanks a lot!
You are a great teacher Mr. Ramirez.
Yes, this was totally new to me! Very good tips and tricks in this video!!!!!
Thank you, Burt!
Omg! This is the best video about removing backgrounds. Thanks you!!!
Thank you for showing this. It was very clear to understand. Even for a beginner like me.
I am a beginner and I must admit that your videos are so well made with full details and explanation. Thanks. and keep up with your great works!!
Excellent tutorial. Every step explained in detail , this is important as I have watched other tutorials that assume that you know how some of the steps are performed .
Thank you, Graham! I'm glad you enjoy them!
I like that we can follow your Arrow to see what you are clicking on. Our screens are set up different so we have to find stuff. I love the burn/dodge and it doesn't even appear anywhere. The hidden rubber band of the pentool was hard to find. I think I made a comment about people that really know their stuff and just want to get it out there. That is called sharing and is the most important thing in life. DNA and all. No one needs to starve in just a few days. From the beginning of life, it has always been about sharing everything good that keeps others going well. Art go's back 6000 years so do it! To keep this on topic, with good teachers, Artists can take us back thousands of years when there were no cameras. As I think back as a child, I under appreciated what I perceived as the new woman teacher that happened to be "Black" and was a full bodied woman. Miss Perez. Boy, She knew me in and out and in hindsight was the best real Teacher I ever had. One morning, when she came in late due to a Family emergency, I did a character of her on the blackboard. She looked me right in my eyes and said " Is this what you think" I never felt so shamed in my life. Then along came Mr. Taylor who was in my grade 7 and 8 ! I fell in love with his skills right away. That's for another story. I was badly abused physically by our teacher from grades one to three and she got away with it all. I turned to the Public library for learning and now, the Internet
Thank you for this tutorial... best teacher for Photoshop ..... that's you....
Thank you, Vella!
