This isn't tiktok. My main concern is your being clear, accurate, and giving any tid bits of useful info. Which in my opinion, you done a pretty darn good job of fulfilling. So, if someone is concerned about what voice you use, perhaps they should stick to tiktok. Because it appears to me that they've missed the whole point of your video, which is to learn how to change your breaks, while showing a little of your character instead of being frustrated. Be a duck in the rain and just let that water roll right off your back and keep being you. That's when we all do our best.
This right here saved me 400$ in labour.... Brian! Thanks again man! You really are a legit life saver. The only difference is I did the front ones which are dual piston but the exact same mounting setup. Again Thank you so much Brian! The only thing I could add to this video is to include torque specs. The best I could find is 35 lbs/ft for caliper bolts, and 75-85 lbs/ft for the mounting bracket.
Brian, big fan of yours! I check everyday hoping for new videos. I'm not a big fan of the picture in picture. I like the way you normally make them. I have learned so many tips that help me daily. Never stop making them.
Thanks Phillip. I spent more than 20 years in class rooms listening to mono-tone professors and instructors. I've formed a habit of being anything but mono tone.
Brian you saved me a caliper expense by letting us know that the piston inside turns in so we have to be careful not to compress straight in which would brake the caliper assembly. Thanks for this video. Dave.
Hi Brian. Keep up the good work. Enjoy every one you do. I have two subaru wagons and a old merc wagon. Always down load your stuff. Thanks again, John in Rockford, Illinois
You can. It certainly doesn't hurt anything and I've been told it helps preserve the life of your master cylinder. The only reason I don't do it, is because it's messy and makes the job time significantly longer without any guaranteed benefit. Even on my own cars I typically won't do it. It speeds up the compression a little, but the clean up and extra steps add more time than they save. I also haven't found it to help the MC at all back when I used to do it all the time.
Wide angle reduces detail. Making it small shrinks it down even more so. I'm invested in it and will use it naturally, but in a more useful-to-the-viewer context. Thanks for weighing in!
very nice detailed video on rear brakes for the journey. the brake caliper is a must. will follow your video when doing rear brakes on my wife's journey. thanks
Totally. When I work too many hours I get like that. I had to squeeze a 60 hour work week into 4 days to get off for a competition. I was a tall two-year-old by the time I uploaded this and slated it to post Saturday morning. The good news is I took home the biggest prize tonight!
People are offended regardless, some people its what gives them pleasure to argue or make a negative remark and some just dont know any better... Im a service tech and engine rebuilder I know everything of what your doing in your vids but its great to see the tips you put in your video... Great channel Brian
Thanks Gerry. I really appreciate your specific feed back. I can do the gopro on a tripod. I bought a mount to be able to do that. I'll give that a try here soon!
On older cars it was something you just always did. On these newer cars that are super light and the rotors are already thin right out the gate- you turn them as needed.
I like the video. Really helps a lot. but i don't like the Go Pro part. That picture picture screen gets in the way. The lighting sucks on the go pros so you couldn't see anything. The tri pod you had in the perfect spot.
Gracias! Tu sei come tallented e paziente come me. Mi piace molto il modo di andare in profondità nel vostro riparazioni Toyota per mostrare ciò che non è riuscito.
There are better cameras than the gopro setup for things like this. I've been recording myself work for a year with great results... only drawback is that the music in the shop gets recorded, which I then have to cover with noise, so that RUclips doesn't flag the audio
Great video. Just came to say that they do still have little knobs on the back of dodge journey rear brake pads, that must be slotted into the piston. I just did mine on my 2016 Journey.
Love your vids Brian! Don't get hung up on the editing. I'd rather see lots of unedited vids than a few neatly edited ones. Always enjoy the range of applications that your knowledge encompasses!
Sway bars prevent roll in turns. They don't really help the front and rear suspension to jive. You may need to stiffen the front dampening or add a shock to each side in the front. I had to do this to my Ram when I built the winch bumper for it.
Be careful what you wish for. Next this guy will be removing lug nuts with an AR 15. Good vid there Brian keep it up. My brother got an electric impact and other tool set. I was a bit of a skeptic at first but it is BAD ASS!!
go pros dark. i like where u set up gives a nice clear view. ty for the vids. just did my 97 f150 brakes last weekend....yup had to take the pads back they were for a ford but tiny pads for the rear of sum tiny car....lol
Very good video very descriptive I wish I would have washed it before I started because I needed that tool I had a cheap one that use the front brakes and it just didn't have enough strength and it didn't twist like it should. I ordered the kit from Amazon and it should be here Thursday a friend of mine said he has one so I'll probably borrow his and Thursday I'll have my own for future brakes. But thanks again very good video. I almost ordered brand new calipers because I couldn't push it in I thought it was seized up but I did not know that it needed a special tool I'll tell you what like I said I wish this video I would have watched because some of the other videos really don't explain why you need that and when you said because it's a different kind of brake system that's why and that was very good to explain that again thank you
A quick clap of your hands with both cameras on will give you a good sync. Good video, I never used the proper tools just a c clamp and always pushed too hard and squirted the brake fluid under the hood :-) I enjoy your videos your a down to earth kinda guy. Keep em coming.
Hi Brian, the go-pro definitely has its uses, but the picture in picture obscures a few details. Definitely leave in the struggles, they make all the details. Thanks again for sharing your expertise, well done. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving eh!
Brian, it really is a shame the community begins to progress into a negative mob with the popularity growth, but don't stress over it. Reading the comments and responding is exactly why you will soon have company 23 tools to review... I appreciated the response, so I emailed company 23 on your behalf. Hope you like the new tools!
The GoPro might be too wide of an angle since it was made for outdoor vista filming and not close ups. The first person view does give more information to doing a job though so that is nice.
Couple of quick observations, should have cleaned and lubed the caliper pins (always do this as prevents problems), replaced the rotors (at the minimum checked the rotors runout) also a quick spray of penetrating oil on the piston makes a world of difference, plus you didn't clean the caliper mounting bracket and noticed those were cheapo pads as no rattle clips. Otherwise nice video
Great video mann,i liked the go pro mechani cam lol, totally agree that you need to leave the tight bolts & some struggles in the videos otherwise people will think being a mechanic is easy!Keep em coming
Worry less about people giving thumbs up, keep up the great work you do. Do it as you see fit as you do it extremely well... Very few people could do it better!
Hey Brian, great tutorial. I have to say, I'm not crazy about the GoPro. Lots of movement, poor lighting and most important, no close ups. I like the fact that you've added more lighting, awesome. I applaud your efforts to respond favorably to your viewers suggestions, not many do. As I'm not making or editing movies like you do, would it be a possibility to have the GoPro on a tripod underneath the vehicle?. You remain my number one go to guy for how to repair vehicles. Thanks.
PNP , well it a good experiment... Work on it... Really important things that need use of that camera view would be a benefit. For the most part a singular view is best. You do a very good job at showing people great views and expertize!
Great video tutorial, Brian! However, that PIP gopro cam is just visually bothersome. The stationary cam by itself is by far better. Leave the gopro to the high action stuff, like off-roading, racing, etc. Otherwise, good quality!
Can you attach a small flashlight to your head with the camera? Some was too dark to see the details. The video is good and thank you for the knowledge share.
I noticed that you didn't mention the need to bleed brakes or prevent fluid from returning back through master cylinder.Hoping you can help.I don't want to damage anything else. Couldn't find your response on that in the discussions.
Great video! May I ask why you did not clean the area were the calipers glide on? (Sorry for my grammar just tell me if you dont understod what I mean)
Wish I could have seen what you were doing better...the GoPro was kinda in the way...so the sets on the caliper piston basically point up and down when putting caliper back on the caliper mount?
I have a 2010 journey and the brakes flat out suck. Apparently its an issue with the 1st gen journeys. Ive had to replace them 3 times in the 4 years ive owned it, I even put new calipers on the back and it still does it. It just eats pads and rotors.
I don't know if it has been mentioned but sometimes it is the original video file type that can cause those problems. you may just try some different formats. MP4, AVI, ect.. I am not an expert but have the same frustration.
Brian First of all, I liked the go pro just wish it had a tighter shot as it seemed too panoramic to help a whole lot. second, need to tap into your resources/knowledge; if any; of kia sedonas. The wipers, cruise control, and heater controls have all stopped working randomly and i cant find a wire diagram to discover if it could be faulty bcm or common ground. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Brian;any reason you would not slightly open bleeder to help reset and spread pistons? And GoPro have their limitations and take a whole lot of (quick) learning as the warranty is thirty days unless they've changed since I bought mine. Eventually,,,, They made me happy but it was a journey.
You prolly dont care but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother these days xD
Great Video , on your Vise grips usage great go to , I by virtue or had a previous need for thin wrench's that on fit that back nut. over all 5 out of 5 .!
Hi Brian, should the piston on the left rear be driven in COUNTERCLOCKWISE ? By the way, don't like the GroPro, prefer your "classic" camera work, and I've been a long, long, long time viewer. Thanks.
Brian! Thanks for trying something new, with the goal of being more helpful! I appreciate your channel a ton-Keep up the great work! However, i did'nt really see any benefit to the go-pro cam.
Hi man, got a 2016 journey. Wanted to diy change the pads. However I'm cautious a bit fearing i might turn the ABS on the dash. Will it likely turn it on after doing the job? And by the way, it necessary to open the break fluid cap once you push the piston in? Thanks
It's called a wobble extension and if peeps give you a bad time for making fun of peeps just say your making fun of a old guy in Vegas cause He don't care, just keep making vids THANKS.........

They can, but you have to go to the drum-in-hat concept and put a brake shoe system in the inside back of the rotor.
On older cars it was something you just always did. On these newer cars that are super light and the rotors are already thin right out the gate- you turn them as needed.
Brian your ACE............BOOOO to all those haters, sending you postive vibes DUUUUUUUUUDE.
Just wanted to say that I have this exact model and you just saved me a bunch of time. People like you make the internet awesome.
Thank you! I work hard at this, but there are so many benefits and things I learn from all of you!
I appreciate the help. Upgrading to 64 bit O.S. and adding RAM helped immensely.
I like the video. Really helps a lot. but i don't like the Go Pro part. That picture picture screen gets in the way. The lighting sucks on the go pros so you couldn't see anything. The tri pod you had in the perfect spot.
Brian--I love your videos. They are educational AND entertaining. Love your attitude. What a service to humanity, man! Thank you.
offended = off-ended, sometimes its good to be thrown off balance, keep up the great stuff
Gracias! Tu sei come tallented e paziente come me. Mi piace molto il modo di andare in profondità nel vostro riparazioni Toyota per mostrare ciò che non è riuscito.
WILL DO!!!! Just got back from a shooting match with some AWESOME footage! I won a lifetime platinum membership to Front Site!
I agree. I do like feed back of all sorts.
There are better cameras than the gopro setup for things like this. I've been recording myself work for a year with great results... only drawback is that the music in the shop gets recorded, which I then have to cover with noise, so that RUclips doesn't flag the audio

Great video. This channel is like the automotive "This old house" from PBS. I'm always learning something.
I loved your (detailed) video and your personality! You get 3 snaps in Z formation! Keep up the good work...
enjoyed your sense of humor as well as finding the video very informative
No. It's rotating it clockwise as well. Great question!
Love your vids Brian! Don't get hung up on the editing. I'd rather see lots of unedited vids than a few neatly edited ones. Always enjoy the range of applications that your knowledge encompasses!
Thanks for the feed back. Others have said that as well.
Welcome Dave! Glad I could help!

I used to do that a couple years ago, but the led light was a conflict with the camera and other lights made a blinding flare effect.
A quick clap of your hands with both cameras on will give you a good sync. Good video, I never used the proper tools just a c clamp and always pushed too hard and squirted the brake fluid under the hood :-) I enjoy your videos your a down to earth kinda guy. Keep em coming.

If the end links are holding firm and not making noise and aren't crushed and bulging they are good.
Worry less about people giving thumbs up, keep up the great work you do. Do it as you see fit as you do it extremely well... Very few people could do it better!
Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement!

Not really. That copper grease is great too.

Keep up the good work bud. I'm glad your channel is going well, hope to see some hunting and gun vids again though
Love your videos Brian.
Screw the picky people.
Great video tutorial, Brian! However, that PIP gopro cam is just visually bothersome. The stationary cam by itself is by far better. Leave the gopro to the high action stuff, like off-roading, racing, etc. Otherwise, good quality!
Thanks for the feedback! Very specific. I like that!
Can you attach a small flashlight to your head with the camera? Some was too dark to see the details. The video is good and thank you for the knowledge share.
Hello from the Philippines Brian, Good job. I like your work, very informative, even I don't have a car.
e-brake must be incorporated, and "reduced so to speak", at pad replacement. Also, if hardware kits are recommended, take heed and replace as well.
You should get google glass, they would work great for this!
I noticed that you didn't mention the need to bleed brakes or prevent fluid from returning back through master cylinder.Hoping you can help.I don't want to damage anything else. Couldn't find your response on that in the discussions.
Brian,
We love to see a video on Go Pro Editing techniques.
I have the same tool set good job with the video.
Dude that was so cool.
You make awesome videos keep up the great work.
Aloha
It did. I really need to update my editing software to be able to handle all the detail.
Great video!
May I ask why you did not clean the area were the calipers glide on?
(Sorry for my grammar just tell me if you dont understod what I mean)
brain you rock amigo
Great work, love your channel. Always fun and informative
Wish I could have seen what you were doing better...the GoPro was kinda in the way...so the sets on the caliper piston basically point up and down when putting caliper back on the caliper mount?

awesome vid job. good work
Agree with Surfmotor...
Great Vid... but.... any chance you could upload this video again, but without the GoPro PIP?
Brian
First of all, I liked the go pro just wish it had a tighter shot as it seemed too panoramic to help a whole lot. second, need to tap into your resources/knowledge; if any; of kia sedonas. The wipers, cruise control, and heater controls have all stopped working randomly and i cant find a wire diagram to discover if it could be faulty bcm or common ground. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Your grammar is great- They were working fine the way they were. No service needed at this time.
Brian;any reason you would not slightly open bleeder to help reset and spread pistons? And GoPro have their limitations and take a whole lot of (quick) learning as the warranty is thirty days unless they've changed since I bought mine. Eventually,,,, They made me happy but it was a journey.
dude you need some light you cant see on the mechani cam but on the other one you can see a little better but i think other then that its good
Thanks for the specific feed back! I LOVE THAT!
You prolly dont care but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother these days xD
@Angel Cannon yea, I've been using InstaFlixxer for years myself =)
@Angel Cannon Yea, I have been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
@Angel Cannon yup, been watching on instaflixxer for months myself =)
@Angel Cannon yup, I have been using instaflixxer for since december myself :D
Thanks Robert!
I'll have to figure something out there. Thanks!
Great Video , on your Vise grips usage great go to , I by virtue or had a previous need for thin wrench's that on fit that back nut. over all 5 out of 5 .!
Love Camping! :) Thanks for the awesome videos :)
wish I could find a video on replacing the rear caliper on this vehicle since the calipers are a huge problem.
Good stuff, but in case i missed it, shouldnt you resurface your rotors too when changing your brake pads?
Safety stands???
Hi Brian, should the piston on the left rear be driven in COUNTERCLOCKWISE ? By the way, don't like the GroPro, prefer your "classic" camera work, and I've been a long, long, long time viewer. Thanks.
nice video like the gopro option
Your videos are awesome!
Hey Brian, I use Sony Vega Pro 12 check out some of my videos..see if you like it and GREAT VIDEOS!
Thanks
Thank you!
thank you so much can you do one on replacing a front bumper
Just wondering, is it not really a big deal to remove lug nuts in a specific pattern?
if you have to heat the carrier to remove the pins, then make sure you replace the rubber boots!!
ALSO .. 6 sided dice = Disc Brake Piston Caliper Wind Back Cube 3/8" Drive Tool
Shouldn't you have the car up on jack stands as opposed to just a jack?
Hi Brian what model is your Dewalt ?
so really all your doing with that tool is pushing the piston in?
Nice!
I noticed that. I think it's the editing software I'm currently using. It's enough to motivate me to spend the money to update.
It's called a wobble extension and if peeps give you a bad time for making fun of peeps just say your making fun of a old guy in Vegas cause He don't care, just keep making vids THANKS.........
Brian whats the part # and tool make of the tool you were using to compress the piston on the hydro/mech calliper?
