  • This video will show you how to replace the rear differential cv axle shaft seal on the 2009-2020 Dodge Journeys and 2011-2015 Fiat Fremont all wheel drive models. All parts were purchased from Amazon and I will list the links below I will also put a link in for the seal pulling tool I used.

    I found that our 2013 rt side seal was never fully pressed in. We bought it used so I’m not sure if it left the factory that way but it was an easy fix. I chose to undo the suspension since it was all recently replaced and gain access that way. Clear and concise video.

    You made that look easy, showing with basic tools this can be done. Thanks for the step by step explanation. Looking forward to your other videos

    Since you are ultimately removing the hub assembly I find it's easier to remove it with the axle attached . One less step.. your video was great 👍

    Great video. Only thing is before torque all suspension bolts need to raise suspension with jack aprox ride height otherwise bushings will be preloaded once drop car. Just measure fender to center axle/wheel before jack up and use that measurement to raise with jack and then tighten all suspension bolts. Not doing this will strain bushings and cause to wear out faster and can also affect ride height and handling especially if only do one side.

    Wish I seen this earlier. I thought I could pull the cv joint through the wheel bearing hole. So I removed the bear and the cv boot was too big. Guess I have a new bearing now. Great video.

    FYI, the amazon-linked Mopar seal WILL NOT fit the AWD Journeys, which transmission code is 62TEA. The front wheel drive transmission is code 62TE.

    I did this seal replacement with the help of this video but now there’s a suspension clunk I can’t figure out. Any suggestions?

    Great video, thank you! I seem to have a leak on mine as well and wanted to ask if there's only a seal on the one side or do should I plan on replacing both sides?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! I would just replace the seal on the side that’s leaking. You don’t have to do both sides at once. I only did the one side that was leaking.

    Hey do you know the specs of the seal, I’m look all over for the right seal. And I can’t tell which are different and which are the right ones. I don’t wanna have to take everything apart and take the seal to the auto part store.

      I do not know the exact specs I already tossed the old seal but here’s a link to the same seal which shows what it fits so this might help you out. store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-output-shaft-seal-5134787ab

    Hey, quick question .. I used your vid to do this exact same job on my wife's 2018 journey gt. I can't thank you enough for making this and being so detailed! Anyways, when I removed the 18mm bolt from the strut, the strut didn't come out like yours did. Mine looks slightly different but I pulled and prodded but it never would drop down or even budge.. is there a mounting point up top? It looked like yours was just held in place by tension and that lower 18mm.. any thoughts? Thanks again!

      Thanks for the positive comments. I was doing two videos at once I was also replacing the rear struts which I had already un bolted from up above that’s how I was able to remove the whole strut. You should still be able to perform this without removing the strut. Here’s a link to that video if you need to use that as well ruclips.net/video/yzFs1F7gc6o/видео.html

    Was the rear diff making noise or was it just leaking? Would you have to change the other seal?

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  2 года назад +1

      Had a little bit of a hum from the bearing since it was low on gear oil. No you don’t have to replace both seals only the one that’s leaking.

      @@BLUECOLLARGARAGE i recently started hearing a humming noise from my Journey but I'm having trouble locating it, any Ideas b4 I send it to the shop. Thank for your videos too.

      @@Dubblesteel can you tell if it’s coming from the front or rear? A hum is usually related to a bearing heating up, tire, or possibly the transmission.

      I charged this person about $250. I would definitely try pulling your fill plug and just check the level because these rear diffs only hold about a quart and you don’t want to drive that if it’s dry. I’m located in Colorado.
