Make sure you do the maintenance on the recommended intervals, only use the ford oil filter others may fall apart don't use larger after market one learned hard way, fuel filters, ext. will cut repairs for motor. oil shell rotellaT or a good synthetic. cold weather fuel additive will help not gelling.
Harbor Freight has those propane burners for cheap. When I used to live in Indiana that HF propane burner would warm the whole garage easy. Pads are easy if you catch them right, Serpentine belts are a pain especially on fords. No mechanic friends or family? Give them some brisket or whatever they like to eat or drink and they will discount their rates, or DIY. I do most of my work myself but I have accumulated a lot of tools throughout the years.
Dash Heavy Duty Diesel of course the costs are HIGH! Try driving a dually and having to replace ALL seven tires. I kind of remember telling you when you bought Vanna about needing to replace fluids, belts, hoses, and brakes. At least you didn't have to touch Vanna's rear end like you thought. I still think your dollars for entry are reasonable. Buying from a dealer they may or may not do all the work required and to what level of quality. I have heard of dealer's doing street sales. Where they try to mimic a owner selling via Craig's List or other car shopper guides.
Totally remember you recommending changing fluids, belts, and tires. Since I'm not driving it daily I'll have to do those things in parts. I'm sure I'll have to dear with the rear end sooner or later, just dodged it this time. Yeah I'm glad I don't have more than 4 (5) tires to worry about. Now that would be slimy but I wouldn't put it past someone do that. Totally agree, how would I know that the work was done, another reason I like to get my old parts when I have work done.
Rather than a laptop for video editing I highly recommend a desktop with a good processor and 16GB of RAM, especially if you don't really need the mobility of a laptop.
I am all over with my laptop and though I know I can build a better spec'ed desktop PC I do way to much editing when/where ever to have a stationary setup.
All told I think you did good on the van buy. You have to expect that the owner didn't keep the van up because he planned to sell it, and you factored that into the price you paid. The trailer package is $1500.00 add on easy. It was a 350. All that she needed was what you would expect to buy anyway. Paying to have the work done is at least double from doing it yourself, but can you use that time better working than wrenching? Probably yes. The good thing is that it is all a business write off. You got to spend money to make money. Just remember----Make your money work for you. Keep on smoking.
I know right, The problem was I didn't want to waste the temp registration and have to pay again to get re-inspected. I though about going the Hook up route but I'm trying to do things on the up and up I don't want any problem registration wise and risk it getting impounded.
That serpentine belt for $300? Damn! I mean I personally like mechanics but some of them are thieves! You could buy a damn good belt for $50 it takes less than an hour to put on a Belt and I'm talking about a half an hour for letting the engine cool off before he works on it. Go to your local Ford dealer next time as of today 2020 Ford in New Jersey wants $145 an hour for labor. Don't go back to that mechanic I'm just saying.
So the way that the serpentine belt is on my van the Radiator had to come out. I really just didn't want to do it and if he did it it would pass inspection that much faster. For the most part I've done everything else myself. It just depends on the time of year though my garage isn't heated.
@@SDSBBQs that was the first video that I seen of yours. I wanted info on the van. And it seems you are busy ( I think I saw three kids ) I seen one or two more of your videos I can't knock you. Good luck with the business.
Sorry that motor is one of the worst diesel engines unless you bulletproof them which costs as much as the van. Best of luck great video you are a funny guy
NEXT TIME DO A PRE TRIP AND A WALK AROUND OF VAN.. SAVE U SOME DOLLARS.. BUT GOOD BUY AND WILL LAST YOU.. KEEP UP ON SERVICES..FUEL AND OIL IS LIFE OF A DIESEL..
Thanks, that was why I knew I was going to have to spend $$$ on other things. But she is a solid runner and has already made me money. Thanks for watching. Are you in the Baltimore area?

It was a matter of needing to get it done. I'm rather mechanically inclined. Just needed it done fast.

Thanks Jason!
You and me would get along we both can do a lot of stuff ourselves but sometimes it is easier to let someone else to do it and be done with it
Yes indeed... especially during the winter when I have no heat in my garage. Thanks for watching!

All very valid points! Thanks as always for watching.
Damn man that's a rip off. Hate shops. Honestly you should have just got the hook up and done the work when the weather warmed up.
