To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Doom, here's a video of Doom8088 with PC speaker sound effects.

I had a 386DX-40 w/ 4mb ram & SB and DOOM was more than playable. I don’t listen to anyone who insists you needed a 486 😁

This is really impressive! Does using the simplified levels from Jaguar Doom have a noticeable improvement on performance? Maybe also a mode where only important walls have textures, such as ones you can interact with.

really gave me my first years playing doom with my first family computer.
maybe it's a pentium at that point but the PC Speaker noises sold it.

Doom didn't have support for pc speakers. Wolf3d has, but Doom don't.

Both Doom and Doom 2 have support for PC speakers

Duke Nukem 3D was the first game I noticed that didn't have PC speaker sound effects.
