Serious musicians who don’t take themselves seriously
That's a real good way to describe them, neighbor. I'm going to use it. Thank you!
@@Pcytripperindeed!
Makes sense that Claypool and company are friends with Buckethead and Mr. Bungle
Tommy The Cat live at Bonnaroo.
Too Many Puppies.....or Harold Of The Rocks, or John The Fisherman...are old skool staples by Primus ✌️
Harold of the rocks is heavily underrated
@Paolur definitely agree, Toys go Winding Down thumps hard too.
Love them all, but, "The toys go winding down" is really vibing with me!
They also wrote the South Park theme song.
Your boy ain't wrong. Mr. Krinkle is wild and a must listen.
And an awesome video too!
That song has a pretty unsettling video that goes with it. That damn pig man!
Kick ass song. Creepy ass pig man.
I’ve seen these guys live at least 5 times over the past 3 decades🔥They sound exactly the same live. But better!! Thanks for ☑️ing them out and giving them respect and appreciation! Google their story⭐️
Nope … they sound way better live. Seen them twice and both times been blown away. Something in their sound gets lost in digital media.
Primus suuuuuucks❣️
🤘
This is the song that got me into Primus. My dad bought an 84 Monte Carlo SS clone in the early 90's. The previous owner left "Sailing the Seas of Cheese" in the tape deck. I grew up in a racing family, so when I saw that track listed, I had to hear it. Fell in love with their unique sound.
The cautionary tale of Jerry is mirrored in other great Claypool story-songs, like "Lacquer Head" or "Buzzards of Green Hill" or "Ding Dang."
I believe Primus were selected to open shows for the rap & metal tour that featured Public Enemy and Anthrax.
VERY fitting. These guys are the kind of amazing rabbit hole that you fantasize about. Buckle up, it might take a while.
And after you're done with Primus, you've got Les Claypool's other bands and side projects and collaborations.
Their smash hit (among the fans) "Tommy the Cat" features the one and only Tom Waits as the titular stud-bull he-cat.
Primus: Giving people stankface since 1984.
Here we go!!
He is tapping on the fretboard with his pick hand and pulling off and hammering on with the other hand pretty cool stuff really hard to do on bass Les Claypool is a legend and is probably the best bass player ever to play
I remember in 2001 when i would play xbox games and listen to icp when playing games.....it was awesome.....
Everyone focuses on Les, which I get, he's amazing, but everyone in this band is amazing.
Nachos was sailing the sea of cheese!!!
John the Fisherman, or Shake Hands with Beef next plase. 2 more Primus greats.
the beaty of the mad lads
Saw Primus open for Anthrax and Public Enemy. Les was in the pit with us during Bring the Noise!
Les Claypool had also made some great songs with John Lennon's son, Sean Lennon, in The Claypool Lennon Delirium.
If you want to hear him speak, watch the South Park 25th Anniversary concert. They do the theme song for the South Park cartoon, but they headlone the show.
Les is one if not the top bass players ever and one crazy funny dude. Primus had one of the craziest mosh pits I’ve ever been in, especially blue collar tweekers song
My first ever concert was primus and I went alone, never felt out of place and saw people of all ages even kids just vibing out and laughing at his jokes especially when it smelled like schweed and they played DMV 🤣 forever a fan even took up playing bass because of him and Thundercat ❤️🔥
I've seen them twice and one of his other bands The Flying Frog Brigade once. He pretty much talks like he sings. I saw him get pissed off once in Seattle with the Frogs. He broke a string on his bass during the 1st song and chewed out his bass tech in front of the whole crowd. I was tripping on shrooms so I didn't give a shit. Great show.
great analysis of a classic. thanks man.
You can get a little bit of both (fun music & talking with the crowd) with his Staying Alive Bee Gees cover 😂

I love seeing claypool at this age its always funny to me
Wynonas Big Brown beaver
Upbeat syncopative music continues, indeed.
The first time I heard this was a few days after this album came out. A friend had it and made me listen to the whole album! Love it to this day!
The album art was recreated in the video, IN the nacho cheese.....hence the album title.
R.I.P. Jerry
The bass is a six string tuned CGDAEB and it's fretless
please more primus! so many hidden gems if your willing to search. A true wizard on the bass
Most Fun-Primus
Little late to the party but you have to give credit to Tim Herb Alexander"Drummer" and Larry LaLonde or Ler" lead guitar" which make this band a very unique amazing 3 piece band with Les Claypool their fearless leader" Bass/ lead singer!!!🔥🔥
The album in 1991 was called 'Sailing the seas of cheese'... Primus was still an indie rock band and they felt that the rock scene at the time was "cheesy" (Hence, the title... implying that Primus was in a scene full of cheesy bands) and thus showed the animation in the spilled nacho cheese... In the 80's, rock bands (like Poison, Dokken, etc.) would have hot female models featured in their videos doing sexual stuff... and I'm guessing that featuring a shirtless, hairy guy serving nachos to a rando customer was the opposite of sexy 🤣
Primus' lyrics are very satirical and weird ... this one was about a guy who apparently died in a high speed car crash... In 1993, Les Claypool wrote the song 'Bob' about someone who committed suicide... 'DMV' is about being frustrated w/ the long lines waiting at the DMV... 'Lacquer head' was about addiction to glue-sniffing and huffing gasoline... etc. etc.
My favorite deep cut by them is called Fish On. My favorite commercial track you haven’t heard yet is called Damn Blue Collar Tweakers.
Aaaahhhh *BRRRRVVV*
Sailing the Seas of Cheese is the album so there is that cheese connection. I am sure it was mentioned
💚💚💚💚💚
LOL, no. That's his real voice.
When this came out, I was an instant fan.
Mr. Krinkle... Frizzle Fry
His tap and slide is very unique. 😂🤘🤘
Les is the same off stage, basically Les is Les. Most people actually pass over Ler as a exceptional guitarist, there’s no Primus without Ler’s multiple textures
If you wanna hear a Les interview check out the clip of him talking about The Residents, which is definitely a huge influence, especially on the vocals.
Southbound Pachyderm is Mt favorite off the Seas Of Cheese album.
That was on Tales From The Punchbowl
Fn love these guys 😊 He's the best bassist imo Mettalica turned him down for being too good😊
Reminds me of weird Frank Zappa songs with their own unique style
“Dog will hunt”… is from Texas chainsaw massacre 2… choptop says it
The band The Residents influenced Primus a lot and how Les sings. If you listen to "Sinister Exaggerator" by The Residents, which was released in 1977, you'll instantly hear it.
❤✌
Loved your reaction…You should check out “To Defy The Laws Of Tradition”…theres a good video for it too.
You will enjoy the video for John the Fisherman.
Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver... And Shake Hands With Beef.
Ck out Cliff Burton, the original bassist for Metallica. He was on a different level.
Their songs are all stories about people. Or cats.
Theres no good way to describe them. Actually they have their own music genre. Even they were confused by that. Lol. All you can do is keep listening to them my man lol
Pleeease listen to the Primus - Frizzle Fry, it's crazzyy trust mee
Psychedelic drugs may explain some of it.
Primus sucks!! Saw them 4 or 5 times in the 90’s. They were incredible every time 👍🏻👍🏻
6 string fretless base….
DOG WILL HUNT
HI please react to the band Voivod.
Crap. Missed your reaction
Well be in for a ride and check out faith no more strat with mid life crisis not that epic shit their worst song then do evidence … ugly in the morning .. stripsearch .. and the awesome cover of the commodors easy
