A couple fun facts about Les… he actually produced an early suicidal tendencies record, AND he actually auditioned for Metallica after cliff Burton died, and he didn’t get the job cuz they told him he was too good for the band lol
Gotta be THE coolest bass line ever. I had a friend who could do it on a guitar and it always got a rise out of everyone. Can’t hear this song without visualizing playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater.

I finally got to see Primus in 2018 (in Australia). I’m a bass player and was stoked to see Les. Bought the vip tix to get in early and stood right in front. He was, as expected, awesome. However, my mate and I were totally blown away by Ler on guitar. We knew he was awesome and under appreciated but he is every bit as talented and innovative as Les.
Thanks for bringing so much joy. I love the angles you take, your style and diversity. Gonna mention Tropical F*** Storm again and their song "Chameleon Paint." It's gonna be up your alley I promise! Australian rock band doing some really unique stuff!
I discovered this song in highschool and at the time I was listening to a lot of nu metal and other heavy stuff. what floored me was the realization that it was a heavy song because of the bass and not the guitars so much. pretty cool
Primus is my favorite band. I've seen them over a dozen times. Les mixing slapping and tapping is so cool. This song changed how I approached playing drums. Herb is a monster.
First video of you I've seen. Dig it. Keep it up. But yeah, Les Claypool is essentially an Immortal posing as a human. Spend an hour or so on RUclips watching Primus videos. I'm 44yo and grew up on them, and they're still around. 🖤

As a complete aside, and apologies if you covered this song before, but how about having a listen to Happy Mondays - Kinky Afro and giving your views. I'd love to hear that!
I gotta come back with my Streetlight Manifesto suggestion. Amazing band in terms of composition skills. Insane drummer. 4-person brass section. Deep lyrics. Passionate songwriters. Subtle nuances throughout their music. They’ve got it all. I gotta recommend the Song _With Any Sort of Certainty._ They have a few heavier songs that arguably cross the border into metal, and this is one of them.
Dont ever feel the need to apologize for not knowing discographies and members of a band, Geebz. I can tell you have a helpful and enthusiastic fan base and I just started this journey a couple of days ago and Im loving every minute of it! Youre a great soul and I look forward to reviewing more of your older vids--Congrats on 1 year!
Damn true, and I do love seeing Herb get a shout-out. Unfortunately, in a band where the bass is just doing so much work that's normally carried by percussion, it's inevitable, and it takes a drummer as talented as Herb (or Brain, for that matter) not to get completely swept away by that.
@@alphaenemyplus8376 no way. Larry is less technical but he's way more creative. if anything, Brain was the grooviest drummer. the brown album is top shit for me with primus.
Don't apologize for giving us more content! Primus is fantastic! I think you'd like the flamenco technique Les uses on American Life (and several other songs). One band I haven't seen you do is Amon Amarth. They're death metal with Viking themes and mythology throughout their songs. Raise Your Horns would be a good one to check out, for the tone that Johan Hegg is able to put into his growls.
I’m still here!! Thanks for this post it’s hard keeping up with you these days but I’m loving the revisiting of some of our favorite artists. Good luck with your hand sir!
"Uuuuh, make coffee" *fart noise* Not wrong there, haha. Love your content, keep killing it. And yeah, some people are gonna razz you for not knowing things about Primus or other bands with....ravenous fans. And that sucks that people are like that. Don't let mad people kill your island vibes.
I was 19 back in 1990, working at this tiny, alternative radio station in Idaho (KUOI), building the first version of their music database. I was a hick who knew nothing but thrash and pop. One day, the station's music director pulled me into the staff room, and said, "Listen to this." He put on Primus' "Suck on This" on vinyl, just up from L.A. My face just split into a huge grin and, like the sturgeon Claypool loved angling for in the rivers nearby, I was hooked. Primus changed everything for me, got me listening to stuff I never would've before. Fish on.
You're on a roll here Geebz. Less radio rock and more alternative music. So much more interesting to listen to and from the perspective of analysis. Fantastic stuff.
Primus is awesome. My favorite band I have ever come across. Les Claypool also has a lot of abstract side projects. They are currently on a tribute tour that does Rush like no other band could, as well as 1.5+ hours of Primus greatest hits. Absolutely fantastic tour, the best I have been too.
Primus is great! Thanks for this! The drummer has talked about playing in such a way as to allow room for the bass, so he tends to use his hands to maintain rhythm and the kick to play around Les. They are so cohesive. Please check out “the Storm” from their album “The Desaturating Seven” which is based on a book called The Rainbow Goblins
I'm pretty sure Jay Lane is the drummer on that album, and has been since Green Naugahyde. All of the participants of Primus are phenomenal, but I don't know what it is, I crave Herb's drumming!
@@scottfogel7614 I believe Herb was the OG, but quit at some point and rejoined from Green Nauguhyde on, Lane is awesome too though, and Brain is not to be forgotten for the album that has Shake Hands with Beef on it.
👋🏼 hey, new here. Primus fan, big time. They're such a fun, fun band. Some less frequently requested songs from them would be their soundtrack cover of Willy Wonka, specifically Golden Ticket is great. Spaghetti Western Mrs. Blaileen Glass Sandwich Rock on!
Primus was one of the foundations of my musical tastes. I'll catch a ton of flack for it, but as a teenager Antipop brought me into their sphere and opened my mind to what they could REALLY do. One of their more under-rated songs (in my opinion) is Southbound Pachyderm if you wanted something a little more chill.
If he does do Southbound Pachyderm, I hope he does the live version from Hallucinogenetics, rather than the album version. So much better, even though the album version IS great.

I would suggest "Nature Boy" for another Primus reaction. Has one of Les' best solos in my opinion
First video of you I've seen. Dig it. Keep it up. But yeah, Les Claypool is essentially an Immortal posing as a human. Spend an hour or so on RUclips watching Primus videos. I'm 44yo and grew up on them, and they're still around. 🖤
"I got a link for everything but my soul..." bruh. You're a f*ing savage. 🤣🤟💯
Great Channel. Love your opinions & perspective. 🙏

YEAH! Idk if it was because of me but I asked for this about a week ago! Whether or not I got it into your mind thank you man love it!
Hey brudah! I saw Primus a few weeks ago! Oct 16, it was absolute flames!
I have some great memories of being in the mosh pits at Primus shows. Great video. Should check the nu metal band Jynx.
"Dog will hunt!" 🤣🤣🤣
“Bass players dream”
You ain’t kidding, brother
Love your channel
"Dog will hunt!" Good ol Poptop from Texas chainsaw 2! Appropriate for Halloween
Mr. Krinkle. And as always i absolutely adore your reactions.💜
your channel keeps getting better and better, keep going, spiral out!
One of my all time favorites!. Always reminds me of my nephew. We used to listen to Primus together
Awwww. GEEBZ, we already linked to your soul when we all found your channel. Your pure and informative reactions to the music that we all love connects us. As does your awesome personality.
I saw Primus in your lineup & I was super-stoked. Great band,, fun song to listen to, excellent bass playing!
Hope you're feeling better soon. 🤙
Seeing PRIMUS live is a must, after 13 or so times they just get better and better.
This is the heaviest Primus for me. So much energy. Every time I hear it I can't sit still.
Lol I've got the black and army green versions of your hat.
Love your ear my man! Congrats on your first year… you’re probably in my top 3 of RUclips channels I watch. Can’t believe you’ve only been doin it a year. I’m a bass player and have done a ton of recording and playing live over the years (another story) so I understand your brain lol kudos again! Cheers to many more years to come.
YES! Jerry! This is the song that I first heard from Primus that got me out there finding more of their stuff. Thank you Tony Hawk! As a complete aside, and apologies if you covered this song before, but how about having a listen to Happy Mondays - Kinky Afro and giving your views. I'd love to hear that!
this primus piece remembered me of "can’t get the motor to start" by nick mason's fictitious sports.
1991,from their sailing the seas of cheese album.
What a way to end my weekend 🤘 !! Excellent choice sir 🎩
It's a shame how overshadowed Herb's drumming is on this album, because just he's the tightest, tastiest player.
Herb is good, but Larry and Les are gods at their respective instruments
@@michaelmusic2133 Larry is lesser a guitar player than Herb is a drummer.
@@KM-bl3vy nonsense
Don't apologize for giving us more content! Primus is fantastic! I think you'd like the flamenco technique Les uses on American Life (and several other songs). One band I haven't seen you do is Amon Amarth. They're death metal with Viking themes and mythology throughout their songs. Raise Your Horns would be a good one to check out, for the tone that Johan Hegg is able to put into his growls.
I’m still here!! Thanks for this post it’s hard keeping up with you these days but I’m loving the revisiting of some of our favorite artists. Good luck with your hand sir!
"Uuuuh, make coffee"
*fart noise*
Not wrong there, haha.
Fish on.
Love Primus. I just saw them early Oct. of this year. :)
Hell yeah on the channel
You're on a roll here Geebz. Less radio rock and more alternative music. So much more interesting to listen to and from the perspective of analysis. Fantastic stuff.
Great video as always. I hope your rotator issues are solved soon, and well. Aloha.
"I got a link for everything except my soul" absolutely amazing quote
Love Primus! Great video today Geebz!
"Electric Grapevine" :-D Awesome Primus song
to me when it comes to drum sound & mixing with Primus, Brown Album definetely does it the best.
I love watching you react over some of my favorite bands! You sound like a righteous dude and look forward to more!
I love primus. Ya gotta do the song “John the fisherman”
This one of those songs that always puts a smile on my face.
‘Subscribed’ Ps. Best song ever. Wow.
This is what happens when bass is lead, but the band works like no other.
👋🏼 hey, new here. Primus fan, big time. They're such a fun, fun band. Some less frequently requested songs from them would be their soundtrack cover of Willy Wonka, specifically Golden Ticket is great.
Spaghetti Western
Mrs. Blaileen
Glass Sandwich
Rock on!
Love some Primus. Great reaction🤙
taking lsd and watching primus live is one of the best things ever.
Been looking forward to you hearing this one!
Awwwright!!🤙
Primus was one of the foundations of my musical tastes. I'll catch a ton of flack for it, but as a teenager Antipop brought me into their sphere and opened my mind to what they could REALLY do. One of their more under-rated songs (in my opinion) is Southbound Pachyderm if you wanted something a little more chill.
If he does do Southbound Pachyderm, I hope he does the live version from Hallucinogenetics, rather than the album version. So much better, even though the album version IS great.
