The baddest touring live band out there right now. Derek Trucks is the best living slide guitar player around. Susan Tedeschi is an angel on vocals. I was lucky enough to see their final show in Charleston during their past tour

Derek Trucks is a derivative of Duane Allman and has mastered his slide playing technique! He is the nephew of the drummer Butch Trucks from The Allman Brothers and Derek started playing with them at 13 years old!

Great choice and band. Tedeschi/ Trucks is a band along the line of what Duane Allman's vision was what he had in mind for what the Allman Bros would morph into. He wanted to add a horn section to the band, unfortunately his death occurred before that happens. Derek Trucks at times seems to channel Duane in his play. I'm sure many times as Derek was playing with the ABB that Gregg could close his eyes and see his brother standing there as he listened to Derek playing. There's a RUclips vid of Derek, John Mayer who is a great player in his own right, Susan and BB King together. Derek plays a solo and Mayer is sitting there staring at him as he plays, getting schooled lol. When he finishes BB says that's the best I've ever heard it. Coming from him that's quite a compliment. He is one of the best there is, if not the best slide player in the world.

Derek Trucks uncle Butch was one of the drummers for the Allman Brothers Band. Derek was 13 when he first started playing with them. I’m not surprised at all that they would go with two drum kits considering his background. You should react to Derek’s earlier videos when he was a kid playing. It will blow you away.

That's smooth as a baby's butt in a silk diaper! Probably my favorite band touring today (along with Widespread Panic)! That's Susan Tedeschi on guitar and vocals and her husband Derek Trucks on lead guitar. I encourage you to investigate their catalog and go see them live as soon as possible! Along with their fantastic originals, they did the whole Joe Cocker "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" album a few years ago. Great stuff! I know you've been getting into The Allman Brothers Band lately, there is a TON of material on You Tube from Derek's days in The ABB (probably 15 years or so....), and his guitar work, with Warren Haynes, playing that great material, is NOT TO BE MISSED! The bass player in this TTB video is Oteil Burbridge, currently playing with Dead and Company, but also a long time member of The Allman Brothers Band.

This is by far the best touring act out there...at least when tours are happening....I've been seeing Derek Trucks play shows in Atlanta since the late 90's. He just keeps getting better and better. Tedeschi Trucks Band has done a series of New Years shows at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta that consistently sell out year after year. Very few current guitar players come close to playing "emotions" like Derek does. And in all the shows I've seen, I don't recall him ever saying one word from the stage. His guitar says it all.

How about: 'Bound for Glory'; 'Do I look Worried to You?"; 'Don't Know What It Means'; 'Keep On Growing' (Derek and the Dominos cover); 'These Walls' and many more. Absolutely great live band. I've seen them 4 times and plan to see them again this summer if things continue to get better out there re: Covid. Derek and Susan are husband and wife and had very successful careers before joining forces in ~2010. Each had multiple Grammy nominations with their old bands and one year actually competed against each other in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category (Derek's band won for "Already Free"). The TTB actually won that award shortly after their formation with their first studio album "Revelator". Speaking from experience you MUST see them live if you ever have the chance. I saw them two years ago and it was indescribable, absolutely amazing experience.

If bands are ever able to tour again, Tedeschi Trucks Band will be right back out on the road. This is a contemporary band, with Allman Brothers roots. A couple great videos to watch...

@@fredsanford5954 Yeah, I remember that now. I tend to think of the Allman Brothers I was fortunate enough to see twice while in college. The last time was a few months before Dwayne death. I actually had the opportunity to drive him somewhere. He was really nice and down to earth.

James Bassett actually saw the Allmans 5 or 6 times. A few shows at the Beacon. Rutgers University, Memphis and out west. Butch was on drums every time. Derek I saw only twice.

@@garysteinert8555 I attended a small college named (at the time) Florida Presbyterian College (A.K.A. FPC & Freaky People's College). One of the kinds had an inside line to ABB and arranged for them to play for us on their way to a gig in Miami, twice! They were both early afternoon concerts, outdoors in the woods by the cafeteria. Idyllic!

best show i've ever been to. favorite guitar player ever. though somedays it's still Gilmour, but the guy is insane. no one creates the sounds he does. if Duane had lived longer, maybe he would have gotten to that level? not sure, but overall this song is just a masterpiece. awesome review!
