Fun fact, originally Titanasaurus was supposed to be two separate monsters that would merge into one. However budget restraints meant they could only afford one outfit.
Kinda got that Destroyah. Kinda.
and Heisei Moguera
11:30 This was actually the result of a mistranslation. What she’s actually saying is “Surely you won’t turn Titanosaurus into a destructive monster just like King Ghidorah, Mighty Rodan, and Terrible Manda?” Although, there is still a plothole; Manda attacked in 1999, while the movie takes place in 1976.
Probably an unseen attack
I think that it still could be referring to the movie Atragon where Manda is from, so it wouldn’t necessarily be a plothole because it takes place before this movie
@@houseofjax2806
Possibly. Shōwa Godzilla does not have a good track record when it comes to stock footage.
Same year as the first King Kong remake
I've always liked how angry this Godzilla suit looks
I can't get tired of his "most annoying sound" joke because everytime he uses it, it is so expertly timed I can't help but laugh.
Not done with the video, but did you know? Titanosaurus was originally supposed to be in Tokyo S.O.S, but got replaced by Mothra, simply because it's Mothra.
Where did you read this info?
Enshohma toho kingdom
goddamnit TOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!
To be fair, it was their lowest grossing Godzilla film of all time...
A similar thing happened in Final Was from what I've heard. Supposedly, Gorosaurus was supposed to be in the movie, but he was replaced with Zilla so Japan could rub it in America's face.
Ishiro Honda actually returned to direct this after a long absence in which the series had become silly, wacky and comical so he almost set out to either destroy the series altogether or get it back on track and he did it by taking the characters of perhaps the silliest one of all and turning it into a film as bleak and dark and hopeless as the first Godzilla. This is probably why it died a death at the box office but also why it is now one of the most respected and well thought of Godzilla movies.
The Showa era is always really silly on all monster series
@@Aurora_Borealis_UK still, not nearly as bad as Gamera. I prefer Godzilla's Revenge and Son of Godzilla to any of the Showa Gameras.
@@c.f.pedraza4057 Yikes!!!! As silly as those 2 Godzilla movies are, I still say there are better movies from the Showa Era.
@DC-10 it's actually why I avoid the showa series (except the first one, of course) as well as the gamera series. They're cheesy and to me a cheesy tokusatsu is a bad tokusatsu
I think a lot of people forget that Ishiro Honda also directed what is possibly the silliest of all Godzilla movies in Godzilla's Revenge
12:46 That was always one of my favorite Godzilla entrances! Them flash, Ifukube's score and everything!
So, the aliens can't make a straight-out mechanical robot ... but then can turn a human into a cyborg? Okay .....
True
My understanding is that it's about quantity of parts. They just ran out of the special computer components needed to fix the internal computer MechaGodzilla had.
19:30 Bro titanosaurus’ death roar is kinda sad, you can tell he’s in like serious pain.
If you're still confused about the alien leader's identity, he's actually not the same guy from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. The leader in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla is named Kuronuma, while his identical successor in Terror of Mechagodzilla is named Mugal. Hope that clears things up.
Additionally I can't resist a Red vs Blue reference at 14:21.
Ichinose: "Ow!!! The back of my head!!!"
What's the name of the species though? And that of the cockroach people from Godzilla Vs. Gigan?
@@dubuyajay9964 The alien species of giant cockroaches featured in Godzilla vs Gigan are called the M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens, or simply the Nebulans. The ape-like aliens featured in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Terror of Mechagodzilla are called the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens, who are also known as the Simians. Hope that clears things up for you.
@@foreignroninl1555 I had thought that the aliens in MechaG were the apes from Planet Of The Apes, while the ones from 'Terror' were the mutants from 'Beneath POTA' - indicating that the POTA franchise took place near to a time-distorting Black Hole - or something. I had thought there was a throwaway line about one group failing and this new group taking over their effort.
@@shoresean1237 I don't recall any references to the Planet of the Apes movies in either the English or Japanese dub of both Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Terror of Mechagodzilla, though I can see why you'd make that assumption due to how many people have made comparisons between the apes from POTA and the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens.
Little known fun fact, the suit actors for Godzilla and Titanosaurus were the same suit actors for Ultraman Taro and Ultraman Leo.
For real?!
Yeah
Leo-niisaaaan!
Was Haruo Nakajima Taro or Leo?
@@ryanangelastro504 No. I'm talking about Toru kawai and Katsumi Nikamoto. Nakajima retired from suit acting with Godzilla vs. Gigan and Taro and Leo were made after that film was released.
The scene involving Rodan, Ghidorah and Manda makes more sense in the Japanese version ( most of the riffed scenes do, but I feel this one needs some explanation ) since she is saying something about Mafune making Titanosaurus " join the ranks of the killers" still Manda shouldn't be mentioned since he hasn't done anything yet and won't until the far off future of 1999.
Also the reason they reused actors so much is because in Japan ( at the time ) actors could only work for one studio.
I suppose, but I don't know if Atragon is canon to Godzilla or not, plus I've never seen it because it's really hard to find an affordable copy.
"Atragon" is canon to the G films because of Manda. "Destroy All Monsters" pretty much encapsulated a bunch of movies that previously weren't.
This scene implies that Manda appeared and attacked at some point before the events of DAM.
I don't know if Manda being present completely proves that because Gorosaurus is in the film but "King Kong Escapes" is not canon.
Don't be so sure about that. I need to check my Japanese books, but I'm pretty sure Toho says it is.
In "King Kong Escapes", the giant serpent was not intended to be Manda. If you look close, his horns and feelers have been removed and his color is much lighter. Toho never intended to use Manda again after Atragon, but, since he was laying around, redressed him and threw him in as yet another prehistoric menace for the Kong movie. Then, when "Destroy All Monsters" was greenlit, they dusted off the ol' Manda prop and repainted him back to original specs. Notice his horns and feelers are still missing, though.
7:50, well in real life, Titanosaurus was a herbivorous sauropod, so it probably was a gentle dinosaur.
What if the titanosaurus was... just a titanosaurus. No unique design, no new ability, not even kaiju sized. just a regular titanosaur that get's killed immediately by mechagodzilla.
Yes
I know
NERD!
JK
@@justhumanthings6711 that's not nice.
This channel rules and GODZILLA is the best
Godzilla is the king of the monsters
Nah
@Someone on the internet bro man I was just joking.
You got to admit the fact that Godzilla can scare Titanosaurus away just by quirking his eyebrow IS pretty badass :=)
Titanosaurus didn't get chased away. He left because Katsura got killed a second time. Titanosaurus is a peaceful dinosaur and fights only when he's mind-controlled into doing so. The story tries to draw a parallel between Titanosaurus and Katsura as tragic individuals forced into conflict against their will, but the movie really only kinda goes halfway with it and so it gets lost in the shuffle.
Titanosaurus puts his hands back 17:04 like I am the new king of the monsters
I love how the designers of Mechagodzilla thought to themselves, "What if Mechagodzilla's head gets ripped off? I know! We'll design a tiny head underneath the big head!! And it will have a laser canon on it!!! What a surprise it will be to ANY enemy that Mechagodzilla faces!!"
At least they addressed the very thing that caused him to be defeated in the previous movie.
At least they never put a smaller head under the small head.
Jerbear Xu Plot Twist: There’s like 5 heads underneath each other.
@@Gojirawars03 Kaiju Mashuka Doll!
Omg that's epic
this is my favorite godzilla movie for many reasons.
1: Godzilla kicks two asses.
2:the remix of akira ifukube's godzilla march.
3:godzilla's entrance.
4: Godzilla is a hero.
5:godzilla exhaling smoke is meme-able.
6:when godzilla takes all that rocket fire from mechagodzilla and starts throwing hands like a martial artist.
7: Godzilla's attitude and intelligence.
8: the feeling of satisfaction over godzilla's victory over mechagodzilla, titanosaurus and the xilians.
9: the opening on the history of godzilla.
10: Godzilla's exit with the music. so satisfying and a high note to end the showa era off.
No name they aren't xilians there the simians from the 3'd planet of the blackhole. xilians are from godzilla final wars ex 2004
GOJIFAN TOKUSATSU GAMING They’re also technically the aliens from Invasion of Astro Monster.
I think I saw a different cut of the movie. It was still called Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla but it didn't have the history of godzilla in the beginning or the kids about to be stepped on by titanosaurs
Don't forget they bury Godzilla live in this movie. That's pretty hardcore
That one shot where they pan the camera to reveal Mechagodzilla behind Titanosaurus is actually one of my favourite movie moments of all time.
Titanosaurus sounds like an elephant getting a whuppin'.
Damn right I want some Godzilla for Christmas
I Got Godzilla For Christmas
No matter how it did it still had a bad ass soundtrack that would be used in other Godzilla films. Also I agree, Godzilla’s entrance to fight Titanosaurus was Bad Ass! Probably the most in the Showa Era.
Titanosaurus has a really cool design, he just needed a better voice
I honestly wanna see Titanosaurus again. Cool design definitely can be an annoying roar but shit he was different and original
and he should have something besides that lame tail wind attack. Maybe he generates electricity like an electric eel? that would be cool.
That wanker ran off when he first fights Godzilla.
It would've been cool if king caesar returned for this movie and at least helped Godzilla instead up letting him get double teamed
I rather see gabara.
Edit: but we did get gabara in the amine series
@@Spongebrain97 I want to see more King Caesar he's one of my favorites
Just two days ago, this sci-fi classic turned 43. And yet, it’s still young 😎.
I, too, prefer Godzilla vs. Mecha-Godzilla, but I will admit that this one was a better entry.
12:35 Worth noticing that it's the first movie in the series since 1954 to feature Ifukube's Godzilla original musical theme. This piece became very prominent later as Godzilla's main leitmotiv, it even appeared on the soundtrack to 2019 "Godzilla King of the Monsters"
I think the idea behind Titanosaurus' roar is that it's supposed to sound like it's cackling at all the destruction it causes. But the execution is that it sounds like a trumpet that's being shoved down a parrots' throat while it's cawing.
Ever noticed that Clair de Lune was playing during the café scene?
Is that why they used a remix of that song for the godzilla king of monsters trailer?
You can tell this was directed by Honda with the tragic storytelling.
Fun fact, Ishiro Honda also worked with his friend Akira Kurosawa on Kugamusha and Ran.
What the hell was the deal with that “scrawny old man security” scene? As a kid I always remember how weird that was
this movie is criminally underrated
This was my favorite Godzilla movie when I was a kid, and I gave me nightmares.
Thank you so much for this, Brandon, you've really made my day.
Titanosaurus’s roar sounds like a elephant XD
Katsura's line about unleashing the terror monsters at 11:39 is a mistranslation. In the original Japanese version, she laments that Titanasourous would join the roster of monsters who have brought misery and death to humanity and asks why he would do that, simply because the aliens want it.
I consider this one of my favorite Godzilla movies of all time, even more than the previous film.
Wow! You got the original US release! I first watched it on a VHS without the prologue.
I like the Titanosaurus design. The roar IS annoying, though
The VHS cut removed the whipping, the kids getting squished, the alien faces, and Ichinose carrying Katsura's body out of the base. but had much better translations in the dubbing. Of course, the Japanese version actually makes sense. Mostly.
"*WHACK* Man, he is bad at this"
"Why not just call out King Seesar?" *cue singing* "Okay, okay! He can fight them alone!"
Titanosaurus vs Dragon Sound! LOL
Still, I'd like to see your take on Silent Night Deadly Night
In the immortal words of Eric Freeman: "Naughty this!" (swings fireaxe)
I see. I own that DVD but I haven't bothered to watch the US version on the disc ;)
Tareltonlives My friend owns the Japanese blu-ray Toho put out a few years ago. Interestingly, it comes with both the original Japanese version and the uncut international version.
I've only watched the VHS version and the uncut Japanese with subtitles
I actually still have this on DVD and still love it
9:33 "Who'd ever love a cyborg?" Krillin from DBZ. In fact, he married and started a family with one.
Rest In Peace Titanosaurus. Hopefully he comes back in the new monsterverse ?
16:34 man, thats the FUNNIEST bit in almost all kaiju movies. That punch is just so good.
Fun fact for anyone interested. Dr .Mafune was played by actor Akihiko Hirata who played Dr. Serizawa in the original film. This was also Hirata's last role as he would sadly die at the age of 56 in 1984 after a battle with lung cancer
This came out quicker than I thought
More Godzilla Movies, damnit
I remember wanting to watch this film when it originally came out but only got to see the odd trailer. I eventually got to watch it years later and always thought it was one of the better Godzilla movies because it was a little more serious
12:34 truly is an epic entrance
One of my favorite Godzilla movies of all time!
I love Titanosaurus I want him to appear in more movies
*AGAINST THE NINJAAAAA!!*
the ultimate sonic disruption!
Hey dude, just found your channel. Love it and loved the review. I caught this gem of a film on a few nights ago and loved it. Everything you want in a Godzilla movie. I like the key evidence at 04:18. I think it speaks for itself.
Keep up the great work!
That scene where the Titanosaurus dances on Godzilla's grave reminded me of that one Power Rangers episode from the original series where the Megazord was fu-, I mean "They Live!" fought to death by a pterodactyl monster.
Gojifan93 only room for one godzilla reviewer on youtube huh well i guess that has to be ME

alexthehunted bruh u guys should have a review battle
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
alexthehunted Excuse you, James Rolfe's Cinemassacre Godzillathon would beg to differ.
@12:34 - So badass they remade this scene properly in King of the Monsters
I would love it if Brandon reviews King Kong Escapes for the release of "Kong: Skull Island".
“I don’t blame him. If people in a Godzilla movie don’t believe in monsters, I’d be pissed too.” LOL
Love your reviews. More Godzilla please (regardless of what Twitter says!
11:38 I guess that she was scare for the incoming disaster, refering to this another monsters like memories of that, and that she was worried for lose the control of Titanosaurus knowing the gigantic risk than this would bring
12:40 godzilla say get out of my city bitch
Why do they call it "Titanosaurus"
It looks nothing like the real titanosaurus
It still looks cool though
it's like a seahorse dinosaur monster thing
They based it off of the dinosaur cause its a TITAN
aw man my fav honestly this and the first mechaG were my favs of that era glad to see your still doing G reviews man Good shit!
Duuuuude!! I've been waiting so long for this! And vs Megalon!
Thank you so much! This one is so cheesy and so classic!
In my opinion,Titanosaurus kinda sounds like an elephant
One of my favorite Godzilla movies!,I love your reviews!
Most badass Showa Godzilla entrance no competition.
Y'know, Titanosaurus would be a pretty cool villain for Godzilla to fight in a reboot.
Cybermat47 without the screeching elephant noise
Belive it or not the actor played Dr. Serizawa in the original film, comes out in both Godzilla vs mechagodzilla and terror of mechagodzilla. He plays the professor in both movies.
12:50
Godzilla: Imma beat your ass
Titanasorus: 'Ight imma head out
6:29 an Albert Sanders if you will.
Mechagodzilla’s new power is so hilarious
Titanosaurus sounds like an elephant going through the garbage disposal
3:31 he's a fan favorite because of Monster Island Buddies's impression
One of my favorite showa movies, and I liked Titanosaurus’s roar
If mafune had control of king ghidorah, rodan, and manda, then does that mean he worked with the other aliens throughout the series? Then he lost control of them when the heros used machine or find the control spots to break from him and aliens controls?
Nah, Katsura's actually just talking about assorted monsters that did bad stuff.
That fire was originally supposedly unintentional. So yes def. props to the stuntmen.
12:57
(Titanosaurus jumps back into the ocean)
Brandon: wait that’s it COME BACK HERE YOU #####
Me: aww man (throws popcorn bucket on floor) I wanted to see a dinosaur fight another dinosaur
You mean dino against dino
I watched this on a bargain VHS, and I really liked the shots of Titanasaurus from a downward angle with the sun at its back and the arrangement of the Godzilla theme.
See you for next year! Look forward to your next review!
12:35 - And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: Godzilla's entrance!
Titanosaurus' annoying cry makes sense when you take into account his peaceful nature. He reserves his roar for when he needs it, like when he's under attack.
The only versions of this movie I've seen, both sub and dub, didn't have that beginning. Instead they opened with a montage of Godzilla fighting Mechagodzilla, almost like a recap of the previous movie except without King Cesar.
"Don't worry we will this is the only movie he's been in" OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that ain't a diss that's a fact! OH!!!!!!!!!
Basically the end of the movie is the demonstration of when the second health bar appears.
Alright, another Godzilla review! Helps make the end of this crappy year suck a lot less. Thanks, man. Good review, as always. Too bad there never was a third Mechagodzilla Showa film, with a 4 way fight between Godzilla and King Caesar vs Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus. Damn that would've been great!
3:38. Titanosaurus sounds more like a drowning baby elephant.
I almost choked on my sandwich when that guy got hit in the head for a second time. Always very funny Brandon!
Titanosaurus' roar can literally be described as this reference right here: 10:29
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
6:15
*WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY TO ME?*
*I DON’T GET IT! I’M WHEEZING.*
16:56 that scene was just…brutal 🫡
Titanosaurs is not only uniqe but also kinda cute for a giant sea dino
I think it would be a cool Fan-edit/Fan-dub project to attempt to edit GvsMG and ToMG into one 90 minute movie combining the best of the monster fights with a human plot that makes some kind of sense.
I just got into Godzilla a few months ago and I've been binge watching them all since. I am currently on Son of Godzila (halfway through) and got burnt out. How does one binge 30 Godzilla movies without getting burnt out?
yh. don't watch godzilla's revenge. you got burnt out with son of godzilla. i can't help but think what that movie would do to you
Haha well, I definitely want to finish them all. I think if I had any advice for someone binging all Godzillas would be to NOT watch them in chronological order as there is too much camp in the 60s/70s to deal with
VideoCop honestly. if thst was so. i would say get the camp over and done with. so if you are going to do them all.i suggest you get godzilla's revenge (also called all monsters attack) over as soon as possible .
I actually make it a tradition to watch them all in order about once a year, simply to celebrate the fact that I can; I was often disappointed being unable to find most of these films on video as a kid, so I guess you could say I'm making up for lost time. True, I start to burn out around Godzilla's Revenge, but by the time I get to the epic ridiculousness that is Godzilla vs Megalon I'm usually reinvested enough to enjoy the rest.
Space them out. Have a little break after Destroy all monsters, then again after terror of Mecha Godzilla
18:25 my reaction to Anime Trilogy
Would like to see Brandon review the Anime Trilogy. Cue Brandon being shocked at Noodle Ghidorah.
Katsura shooting herself: My reaction to the anime trilogy.
one of my favorites out of the showa series too. :)
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODZILLA
"If you'd like to prevent that happening again in the future."
HAHAHAHAHAHA! No.
1756 a fan said that while the aliens from the first movie were inspired by the gorillas from Planet of the Apes, the ones from this movie were inspired by the human mutants from the second movie. Love the aliens Irwin Allen style silver outfits.
I Wish king Ceasar would help godzilla fight titanosaurus and mechagodzilla
Terror of Mechagodzilla is the superior film in almost every way. I still hum the music to this VERY DAY.
titanosaurus roar sounds more like a drunken elephant
3:51 Titanosaurus is holding the submarine in his arms as it explodes. You'd think he would at least feel a bit of discomfort.
I'm looking forward to The Return of Godzilla/Godzilla 1985 review. That's my favorite movie in the series.
Titanosaurus has one of the best costumes of the Showa era.
