Jack Frost: He's chillin' & killin'!
Jack Frost 2 - Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman: He’s Icin’ & Slicin’!
Hey Brandon I love your videos Man I've seen almost every single one keep up the awesome work man
Love your videos, and i almost watch every movie you review, thank you man, Happy Christmas and new year from India.
Just wondering, why didn’t you do a review on the best Christmas movie ever die hard
Christmas Bloody Christmas will be the greatest Shudder original movie of 2022.
I feel sorry for the traumatized kids who's parents bought the WRONG Jack Frost movie.
Yeah, that Michael Keaton version looks bad enough to traumatize anyone!
Seriously, merry Xmas brats, have a rape scene.
I've heard a few stories around the web about that mix up at the rental place. Also a co worker of mine rented Flesh Gordon instead of Flash Gordon when they were younger. Anyone know of any other similar movies that got the old shelf shuffle or rental muddle?
Just remember the old blockbuster model, one display case at the front, the rest blank with just the details. I can imagine people swapping the tapes around.
Me too. When I was a kid we went to watch this and it turned out to be that crappy Christmas movie...
The reason why Jack Frost's nose is missing in the bathtub scene is because it kept poking Shannon Elizabeth in the eye.
That's makes sense but it is still funny to joke about his carrot nose being missing for another reason if you know what I mean
That “DECAPITATION!!!!” sound drop always gets a laugh out of me.
I've said it once and I'll say it again. Someone NEEDS to make a compilation out of this!
Where is the decapitation sound bite from?
@@jahmd8377
From one of the cutscenes in a really cool game called Brütal Legend! Definitely recommend the game, it's kind of a love letter to metal. ^^
Fun fact, telling scary stories was actually a Christmas tradition during the 1800's and early 1900's.
Really?! Where? And you know WHY?
@@jaymartin8273 in Europe for sure up until the early 1910s
5/12/23
@@vibeofthee80s_ Huh. Very odd, but it still sounds kinda fun for those of us who grew up with Tim Burton :=)
I'd always wondered about that line "There will scary ghost stories" in that old song "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"
This reminds me of one of the Halloween specials from Regular Show.
But the killer turns to a freaking bed.
No, I'm not kidding.
And when he gets redemption with a job to stay hidden, he got fricking teamed and killed by the park squad lol
I also can't get over the fact Christopher Lee did metal music. What a legend.
He was for sure the coolest old man in the world.
He was a real-life bad-ass, too. Peter Jackson over-directing him on what sounds to make when Wormtongue stabbed Saruman in the back is what led to their disagreement. Which they resolved later.
He finally got frustrated and asked Jackson "Do you know what someone sounds like when they actually get stabbed in the back? Because I do."
He was a Finnish volunteer and later a member of the RAF during World War Two.
The mixing up of both movies and parents not knowing is pretty much a legend on its own. Anytime someone talks about this movie, the comments secis full of 'my parents didn't know and got me this one'
Wonder how many naive chumps bought Frozen (2010) instead of the famous one.
Christopher Lee being a metalhead was both the most unexpected and greatest thing I ever found existed some time ago. What a legend.
Look into Roald Dahl's backstory sometime. Those two might have been colleagues in a previous life.
Check out every Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire album starting with "Symphony of Enchanted Lands II: The Dark Secret". Christopher Lee does a song with them and does narration throughout the album. He worked with Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire until his death. Check out all of their albums. They're an awesome Power Metal band.
Personally, I'm not surprised. We're talking about a gent who was an actual James Bond who killed enough Nazis to fill up an exploitation film.
Christopher Lee did some metal for "The howling 2" also which he starred in, the music was awesome
@Alex Kogan I gave your comment its 100th like. 😉
The struggle is real...
Yeah, my ex-gf had a 4-year-old I sat in front of the TV and put Jack Frost on for her to watch.
While I was checking in on her, I saw a snowman raping a woman in a bathtub with a carrot!
Yeah, not exactly the family-friendly movie that I had thought it was...
Best to you-
Oops. 😱
Well that “carrot” scene mental imagine isn’t going away anytime soon. 🥕
Well, it was vegan. ...no meat at all 🐮
@@skylx0812 it was also raw.
I'm almost positive there's a porno with that same premise.
"He's about to find out, that being a carrot, is *harder* than it looks!"
LOL 😁 😆 🤣!!
I feel sorry for the traumatized kids whose parents brought them the wrong Jack Frost movie, yes, who would have thought that seeing Michael Keaton as a snowman was that terrible?
You know, what happens to Michael Keaton in that other Jack Frost movie is arguably scarier on an ontological level.
Lmao
This is one of those movies I specifically remember seeing on the shelves at Blockbuster. Shit, I miss spending over an hour at Blockbuster looking at movie covers.
The sheriff's secretary looks like Mac's mom, 30 years younger.
If i remember, mine as a kid got progressively more rated R the higher the aisle (8 aisles i think), and mother not wanting you to go past aisle 3.😁
Lots of people remember this movie's box cover, even if they didn't rent it.
Go to your local library or Seattle's Scarecrow Video sometime; can still get that feeling.
@@TheBrandonTenold You know I think Marty might be the killer lol
The actress who plays macs mum was in the Mickey Rourke film Barfly in the mid 80s and she looks almost exactly in that same as she does now
Unironically, this was my favorite horror movie back then when I was a young little lad. It's a guilty pleasure of mine personally
I'm the same way with 'Godzilla vs the Sea Monster'. It's terrible, but it was my first Godzilla movie, so I love it anyway
@@TheKyrix82 honestly, I can respect that.
Mine too. Jack Frost himself was legitimately a really fun character.
@@Appleboxman exactly! Sure He had some tropes of other slasher villains, but I think it's because of the fact that he's so goddamn, stupid and so overpowered at the same time. It makes him sort of endearing to me.
Same here I saw it a few years ago back in my early years of high school and I luved it too! Jack is a badass killer snowman.
Having Renny Harlin direct this movie is not that much of a stretch. He also directed Nightmare on Elm Street 4.
Yea he did a long kiss goodnight and that was also a Christmas movie
He also could've had LL Cool J make a rap song about how there must've been some magic in that old top hat that's like a shark's fin.
don't forget about his first film, *Prison,* with Aragorn himself!
@@rosselliswilkinson yea I just watched an interview with him yesterday day and he has some interesting reasons why he does set them at Christmas, don't forget the nice guys was too.
So remember kids, if you want to protect the ones you love… Feed them antifreeze lol
Given the circumstances...STILL makes more sense than bleach...
i'm pretty sure the sheriff's wife just drank while she was pregnant
This is a real treat. Three reviews from three of my favorite RUclipsrs on a favorite from my high school days.
I worked at a Blockbuster in 2001 and I can absolutely confirm there were parents who didn’t read the box and picked THIS Jack Frost to take home. Needless to say I had to do a few exchanges.
The ol' "never judge a book by its cover" aphorism really needs to be amended when so many people don't even go that far.
@@christopherb501 Considering the "controversial scene" in this movie, parents were probably right on passing on this for their kids? ;)
@@sigmacademy That wasn't my point. I agree that this isn't a good movie for children; it's too much of a cynical joke with too many mean edges for the ultra-majority to get or healthfully internalize. I was remarking that many don't even judge effectively from _the title alone_ of a work, let alone the cover.
Honestly, you should do the Michael Keaton one too lmao.
Eh, maybe I'll do that one someday...maybe...
You should do Santa's Slay...Seriously, why don't more people talk about that it's Goldberg as a Demon Santa. How does that not get you interested?
Go over to the JoBlo Horror channel
@@Axolotl_Mischief or Tubi if you have the app. I watched that one yesterday, and it was pretty hilarious
Especially Santa Goldberg doing his trademark wrestling moves to kill people
i'm thinking Brandon should review Leprechaun(1993) with Warwick Davis for St. Patrick's Day on the 17th of next month
OMG the Zappa lyric really got me! 😂 "Don't be a naughty Eski... umm... Inuit?" Doesn't have the same hook
I never noticed the palm trees in Halloween until Mike of RLM brought it up. AND I GREW UP in the general area that Halloween was supposed to take place in.
Man this movie is making the rounds, this is like the third review I've seen of this movie in a week.
I think Dr Wolfula did this a few years back so you should watch that to as his channel is always pretty funny..
'Tis the season
I see similar phenomena amongst reactuon channels. There must be some analytics or newsletter RUclipsrs have access to that guides these decisions, or else various communities of dedicated campaigners, 'cause it's just WEIRD with how often these things coincide.
@@christopherb501 You mean smaller RUclipsrs don't try to ride a popular trend (and increase their viewership numbers) by covering the same things the bigger ones do?
This brings back memories. I remember specifically renting a copy of this on VHS from blockbuster when I was a kid. My mom thought I was looking for the Michael Keaton movie, but she was actually shocked when I told her that I actually wanted to rent this one.
My favorite kill from the whole movie goes to the sled.
Forget Freddie vs Jason. The real versus movie we should've gotten was Jack Frost vs Jack Deth.
Jack Frost got to pleasure Nadia with his carrot before Jim did.
I remembered when Phelous reviewed this and it's sequel.
Yeah and Dr Wolfula did it years back..lol..
I remember seeing this film at a self in a Hollywood video and the cover really stuck with me over the years.
Maybe you should have washed your hands before reaching for the box
@José Hunter's EW&F Remixes is it just me as I really didn't get the joke here, ,or was it a joke,,??..I was always lead to believe jokes were kind of funny atleast,,lol..
@@iamthatguyfromslipknot1137 ---To be fair, that WAS funny.
I got admit that line was pretty epic
“What the hell are you?!”
“World most piss off snow cone!”
I recommend you to review the Mexican movie named "Veneno para adas". Which translates "Poison for the Fairies"
1986 ‧ Horror/Fantasy ‧ 1h 30m
It's one of the most paranormal Mexican movies or even the most paranormal movie of the whole world.
Not just for the plot, but for all the weird things that were caught on camera during the film. Literally one can play Finding wally but with ghosts.
That sounds really cool! Do you have any examples of what they caught?
Can't write that down at present, and tired enough to forget. Please respond to give me a notification and thus a reminder.
Jack Frost: Wait 'til they get a load of me.
3:26 an alternate joke for this could be the traditional "Nice shooting tex, you shot the shit out of that snow."
Ha! Ryan Hollinger just reviewed this too.
Things I didn't expect from this video: A Canadian movie reviewer mentioning Jimmy Saville.
Ah yes christmas child's play
First the Cinema Snob, Double Toasted, and now you. I’m glad this movie is getting a lot of attention. One of my faves tbh. Also check out the Rifftrax version! It’s with the mst3k crew of mike, Kevin, and Bill. Hilarious all the way through.
Ryan Hollinger reviewed it too
Cinemassacre also
Jack Frost taunts his victims similar to the voice of Chucky(Brad Dourif)
I like the Rifftrax on this crazy movie.
James A. Janniese of Dead meat did do the kill count for this movie and its sequel 5 years ago
My mom rented this film when I was a kid, we watched the opening and the moment the narrator started talking about Jack killing she pulled out the tape. Yeah, she grabbed the wrong flick, not the Michael Keaton one. In hindsight it was a very funny memory, but tbh the normal film freaked me out due to the uncanny valley as a kid.
A lot of people are reviewing this movie this year
I always remember going to Blockbuster and seeing this movies box cover that had that "3D holographic" look that flipped from cheery to disturbing and it was just odd that i would hear about this movie for the 5 years or so.
Kind of a downer that the “scary” snowman in the actual movie is not a skeleton snowman like from the cover.
“The Superman exists and he is a snowman.” 😉 Love your channel. Happy holiday!
I remember when Dead Meat review this movie and its sequel, but I want to laugh now because Brendon is reviewing it and calling out/making fun/reviewing the movie.
This was originally gonna be a big budget movie shown in theaters with Renny Harlin as the director?! Yeah I too would have wanted to see that version as well! I doubt it would have been any better, but still!
Thanks for these retrospectives, they got the wit-utility Hey ah, this might be a little high brow for your style of film : " Fatal Instinct", Parody flick with Sean Young
Speaking of Renny Harlin, you should take a look at the 1987 horror movie Prison (starring Viggo Mortensen and Kane Hodder) if you haven't seen it yet.
I’m not sure if I should be proud or ashamed that jimmy savile is now world famous 😅
Yeah us English people really missed the obvious back then in the 80s didn't we between Jimmy Savile,Garry Glitter and Rolf the nonce Harris..I mean I was a kid but what was all the adults back then just blind to not see all three were complete wrongness,,
YES! Got a Zappa's _Yellow Snow Suite_ reference, this is the best christmas ever!
And this is the gooniest christmas horror movie ever! Hopefully Brandon tackles the sequel at some point this next summer. Happy holidays, let's crumple this year up and chuck it in the trash already, goddamn.
Nanook rubbed it during the bathtub scene.
@@TheBrandonTenold Oh dear.. don't think I wanna know why the margarine went missing at the Parish of St. Alphonso. #SausagePattyAbuse
I have never even seen real snow but this movie just having white blankets everywhere to simulate snow killed me during this whole movie.
He'll bro where is it that you live to have never seen real snow,,??..you live in the desert or what,,lol..shit well I'm English and it really did just snow last week and I walk out in the morning to see a great big snow man that the neighbour kids across the street made,,lol..
Now that i have to work and drive to work, i would be happy to never see the stuff, again. (Or until i retire at least)
@@iamthatguyfromslipknot1137 Or by ocean...? The tropics and not by mountains...? Ever more places with climate change encroaching...?
I managed a Blockbuster video when these movies were out. Getting them mixed up was a nightmare until I ordered some "horror" stickers to put on the box.
And I'll bet even then some stupid parents still rented this one thinking it was the Michael Keaton one.
@@TheBrandonTenold Yeah, it got bad when the Keaton Jack Frost came out, as it sold out for the first few weeks. People thought they got lucky for their little ones, but it never ended well.
It was also before all of those mockbusters came out too, so there wasn't a recognition that something was "off" a'la Transmorphers
I really do wonder how many kids who were babysat by the VCR were scarred by the mix-up.
@@thepopemichael The Asylum just dropped a trailer that showed them putting a bunch of their creatures in the same movie. It's ... something. XD
Name of movie trailer is 2025 Armageddon.
@@sigmacademy That sounds HORRIFIC and I kinda want to watch it now...
I remember seeing this movie, but never did rent. The box art was something.
Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman is an under-rated film, it's really quite fun.
That movie is hilarious for all the right and wrong reasons.
The first time I ever heard of this movie was when I was in a video store with a friend who told me about the most infamous scene this movie is best known for.
So the antifreeze and oatmeal is actually a trick to keep car windows from fogging in the cold. Now why they had that in California I have no idea
It's also a trick to defeat killer snowmen.
First cinema snob reviewed Jack Frost than double toasted review Jack Frost and now Brandon tenold is reviewing Jack Frost
James A. Jannise of RUclips Channel Dead meat did the kill count for this movie and its sequel, 5 years
@@davidroarty7192 yeah I know James from dead meat reviewed it but saying in terms of 2022
I've heard that originally the rape scene was just intended to be a murder scene where the snowman slams her against the wall, but between the carrot being gone from his face and the suggestive positions they realized how it looked and just changed Jack's dialogue to lean into the implication.
As a wise man once said, "oof"
You certainly made this year more tolerable, Brandon. Thanks for that, one Canuck to another.
Makes me wonder how this series would have been different if this had a theatrical release and a budget
I remember seeing the Rifftrax version of this, I still say “Made in America!” A lot because of it (seriously what does that one liner even mean?)
If I recall correctly the credits even say “where’d the carrot go?” in case anyone missed it
Michael Keaton got more hardcore as a snowman than I expected. Also this isn't the only movie I've seen where ppl straight up shoot water expecting that to work.
You better do the sequels
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Brandon Tenold. 🎁🎄
We definitely need more people to know about Christopher Lee's metal career.
You should make do a Godzilla movie for Christmas
13:37
"Eh, I dont get it."
"YOU UNCULTERED SWINE"
12:29 *Fun fact:* that joke was edited out of the Rifftrax version
I remember back when the Keaton version of Jack Frost came out, it was the only film me and my friends knew about so one night, UPN (Yes), was playing the killer version and had the summary listed. It was freaking hilarious because we had just seen the Keaton movie and even though I didn't see the movie that night, just from the basis alone the killer snowman was EVERYTHING I EXPECTED IT TO BE when I saw it years later. PERFECTION.
I just realized, SNOWMANTON is NOTNAMWONS spelled backwards! Watch out for something that is not a a namwons.
Public service announcement brought to you by Nilbog, official sister city of Snowmanton.
Merry Christmas Branden!
I've seen another reviewer take on this movie (as well as its sequel), but this review was a hoot too. Both these make me want to check out these movies, they really look like the fun kind of bad movies.
'a very Jimmy Savile christmas' had me in tears lol 😂😂
and the guy doing the voiceover in that scene in director/writer Michael Cooney.
Man seeing that VHS cover does take me back to the good old days of going out to a video rental store & seeing that movie on the shelf. Never saw the movie until much later but it's nice to see that it finally getting some attention.
I can’t believe neither this nor the RiffTrax version had any “Calvin & Hobbes” jokes.
So I can actually attest that It may not have been on purpose, but at least one blockbuster back in the day did switch the vhs for those two movies. This video brought back repressed memories. That actually happened to my family.
Merry Christmas Brandon and thanks for all these reviews.
Love, love, love this movie! Its not Christmas until I've seen this.Thank you so much for doing this flick.Oh, Merry Christmas!🎄🎁
As always thank you so very much for the videos, and best wishes of the season.
Shannon Elizabeth might be the only actress ever who can write “raped to death by an evil snowman” on her resume for her film debut.
I know she’d rather not.
Dang, you beat me to this comment!
Can't really blame the snowman for doing it though.
Ngl how would her husband and kids feel about that crap? I mean imagine the kids' friends at school finding out that their mom is an actress and that's what she did as a debut?!
@@nickbutcher760 probably fine with it as it's just a movie role and she an actress, she's definitely more well know for being the hot chick in American pie anyways
Have a great holiday and new years. Thanks for all the videos and hard work.
Jack Frost and its sequel are such fun movies!
He'll yeah your so right and I have both on dvd and always watch them for a bit of a laugh..glad I'm not alone in my lameness,,lol..
I think the sequel is both stupider, and funner, It knows what it is and leans into it hard
Merry Christmas! Thanks for the laughs...can't wait for next year.
Awesome video! Have a brilliant Christmas and a fab new year, Brandon!
Merry Christmas Brandon. Thank you for the awesome channel.
Happy holidays. bro. Thanks for all the laughs!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year Brandon hope it was a good year for you and thanks for all the Reviews
Merry Christmas and a happy new year Brandon! Ty for always entertaining me!
True, the town with that red "Fawn Lodge" (now closed) is in southern California but far east of LA in a high elevation (next to Big Bear Lake). From scariesthings: "In order to get a nice wintery feel, the movie was filmed in Big Bear, California - a popular ski destination - in the middle of January. Unfortunately for the filmmakers, it was a drought year. Daytime temperatures in the mid-70s (around 24ºC) meant they had exactly zero snow for their production."
Have a very Merry Christmas Brandon, look forward to another year of your great content.
A guilty pleasure of mine. Merry Christmas happy New Year to you Brandon
Christopher Lee's "Heavy Metal Christmas" is the soundtrack of my holidays!
Wait, the sequel's title is a Calvin & Hobbes reference? *sniffle* It's beautiful!
And I love Christopher Lee's metal albums. I legitimately own them all on CD and love them like my children.
Ohhh...and here I was worried about the other way around...
I myself always saw the VHS multiple times at my Local Video Store. If anything this film did make a really fun RiffTrax Commentary Video... and YT Reviews
